tbh idk if we have discussed this but i was born in 2003 as well😎 (tbh i think i might have just seen u saying that u were born in the same year as treasure doyoung so i was like crazy we are bringing in the same year but never really thought about saying it 🤣😶) well i want to learn knitting that's my plan for the summer but i do embroidery and i love painting baking and reading so i'm ready for the grandma life (tbh i also braid bracelets but i don't think many grandmas do that 🫣)

I don’t use tumblr much but I come back just for your blog ❤️ I hope you’re doing well (as well as anyone can while grieving) and are finding bright moments for yourself. I don’t know if you’ve played much HFW yet but I cannot stop thinking about how GOOD Beta is for Aloy even if she hasn’t recognized it yet. Like, they are both genetically identical but look at what a force Aloy is!!! Can we talk about this? Am I the only one super focused on this plot point?

I just saw Beta for the first time in the game, but I have some spoilers and I agree with you. I'm on hiatus from playing - not in the mood for intense combat - but I'm working my way through a cutscene movie, and I'm excited to actually meet these people everyone's talking about. I would love to write fic from Beta's POV once I get to know her. From a purely practical standpoint, even at the end of HZD I always believed there were never not going to be other clones. Even if Elisabet nixed the program, it was already set up. You don't put that kind of Chekhov's Gun into a story and not bring it to fruition.

(I've been chewing over a way to shoehorn a sequel for Moth into HFW and haven't figured it out yet. I might just make an AU that diverges starting from the battle for the Spire. Once I finish the cutscene movie, I'll have a better notion of what I'm handling.)

BUT YES, TALK TO ME ABOUT BETA. I don't think you're the only one focused on this. Not knowing anything about her beyond the fact that she exists, my expectation is that the fact of her existence is going to hit Aloy square in the chest. In terms of my own gameplay, I just got GAIA to the base, so I haven't even started hunting down the three rogue AIs, but I absolutely love how grumpy, prickly, and downright rude Aloy is being. She's under an immense amount of pressure. She's still living the trauma of being outcast, and while she has friends, I don't believe she feels any sort of genuine attachment to them. I think she's torn between desperately wanting connection and knowing in her bones that they're going to turn on her, and that makes her lash out. It would have been so easy for the writers to handwave that away and I love love love that they're doubling down on her trauma. It's one thing for her to dismiss her allies; by the fact of their genetics and her idealized, parasocial relationship with Elisabet, she can't dismiss Beta. I think when she encounters Beta, it's going to fuck her up, because Beta is a real person, not a hologram, and the messy dynamics of that is something I can't wait to see play out.

So yes. Talk about Beta and Aloy. I am 1000% here for it.
