Most LGBT cishet movie?
Tumblr media
Movie Submissions!
Sometimes a cishet movie is a hit in this community even without any stories or characters reflecting us (or at least not explicitly or intentionally or... tastefully). Either because of its campiness and witty banter, its drama, its weirdness, amazing soundtrack and costumes or its diva-like personality taking center stage. Please don't take this poll seriously.
Examples of movies that follow the rules below:
The Wizard of Oz (1939), Clue (1985), The Exorcist (1973), The Servant (1963), The Sound of Music (1965), Heathers (1988), Little Shop of Horrors (1986), All About Eve (1950), Jawbreaker (1999), What Ever Happened to Baby Jane? (1962), 9 to 5 (1980).
Rules for Submissions:
Please don't fight we're literally just ranking the straightest gay movies and transest cis people. The most conforming and queer paradox.
Because of the tendency of this site to call something "gay" just because 2 conventionally attractive men stand next to each other for 5 seconds, I'm not counting shipping possibilities that much. The level of drama, camp and the number drag parodies it has is way more important than possible romantic relationships or sexual tension in submitted films. Also there's ace and aro people voting. Keep them in mind!
It has to be cishet but somehow still queer. Can be the camp, general weirdness, gnc clothes, sassiness, the inclusion of a diva, accidental coding, or some other secret option. Honestly if you find a way to reason so hard it works, you could even try to submit The Godfather (... it is very quotable...)
Submit movies that aren't just American!
Submit movies that are cult classic masterpieces or movies that objectively suck!
I love Mamma Mia but it does have gay characters. This poll came about because I found that a lot of older movies had queer fans that were able to connect to others through these movies while creating their own spaces. This was despite the movie being "straight and gender conforming". I love that there's more rep now, but I'm aiming for this to poll contain more vintage movies for a reason. and I want to expand my watchlist. I'm aware that there are movies from the 70s, 1920s, and other older eras with explicitly gay themes and characters like Victim 1961 or Salome 1920 (and I encourage you to widen your scope of historically significant films) but this isn't that poll.
Old movies with very stealth trans or gay coding with its side characters and unintentional lgbt+ coding is allowed, but you know these things can be hit or miss. Besides, I put Heathers on here even though it's homophobic. Fun but homophobic. You can submit movies with homophobia or conformist themes to a degree.
You can submit propaganda videos, text, and images! If you know any drag parodies of the movies, send them my way!
If you don't want to submit directly, you can @ me
Posts with polls will be tagged as #mlcm poll. Movies posts with #user submitted or #user submission means it was submitted through the google forms and will enter the tournament
Given that not a lot of people watch older movies, the battling polls will be paired by decade until it gets whittled down to the finals where old and young will both compete.
Competition will start May 1 in honor of The Wicker Man 1973, which i wish counted as a poll entry, but I limited myself to one movie I'd slip into the tournament despite the fact that there's not a lot of lgbt fans of the movie. And this was my runner up because I really liked The Exorcist's Regan and Karras. Unless someone else submits him, Wicker Man's not gonna be there. Rest in Peace Christopher Lee and his ugly blonde wig.

"Well, there are a lot of people who remember me. Lots of them!" Bette Davis was quite opposed to filming "Whatever Happened To Baby Jane?" in color, and I think that was the right call. The two sisters are so connected to Old Hollywood and Vaudeville that B&W is the best medium to depict their lives retreating into the shadows of memory and lost glory.

Tim Burton presents the Wednesday Show.
Tumblr media
The trailer for the new Wednesday show by Tim Burton has been released, it is very well done, and I think it gives you an excellent idea of what the show will be like. Since 1991, with the release of “The Addams Family”, the character of Wednesday was reinvented, and has since become a fan favorite. For those who are in love with the way Wednesday was re-imagined by Scott Rudin, and portrayed by Christina Ricci, this should be a show you’ll enjoy. Ricci practically stole the film with her portrayal of Wednesday, and the way the character has been portrayed since have been largely been based on that version. Tim Burton must have been a fan of her portrayal, because he cast Christina Ricci as  Katrina Van Tassel, in his film “Sleepy Hollow”. It also seems that when it came to the Addams Family, Tim Burton had little interest in anything else that has made the Addams Family popular, since they were introduced in the New Yorker magazine in 1938.
Tumblr media
For 84 years, Charles Addams has captured the imagination of many, and it wasn’t about Wednesday Addams for most of that. If your interests in the Addams Family is more then the way Christina Ricci portrayed Wednesday, you might be disappointed. For many fans, it has been about the romantic love of Gomez and Morticia, which was introduced by John Astin in the 1964. There was a real meltdown of many fans, when the actors portraying Gomez and Morticia were released. Instead of Raul Julia or John Astin as the romantic father, they got Luis Guzman. He may be closer to the way Charles Addams drew Gomez (which was a caricature of then New York Mayor Tom Dewey), but for those who were looking for Gomez to be the romantic Latin figure he was in the original series or the 1990s films, this was a major disappointment. It was like expecting a sirloin steak, and instead being served a Whopper from Burger King. It didn’t help that Netflix kept putting out photos of the New Gomez and Morticia, which gave the wrong impression that the beloved couple would play a bigger part in the series.
Tumblr media
The truth is, Tim Burton could have cast anyone as Gomez Addams, including Paul Rubens. You won’t be seeing much of Gomez, Morticia, or even Pugsley or Lurch. This is Wednesday’s series, and the rest of the family, and the wonderfully creepy house they live in, are either in the background or non existent. This is really a show for Wednesday fans only, which makes sense, as Tim Burton has always preferred doing projects involving misfit loners, who most of the world just doesn’t understand. If a character like Willy Wonka, doesn’t have have have personal trauma that he must deal with, don’t worry, Burton will make sure the character is given personal issues, For “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” Burton invented a father for Wonka played by Christopher Lee, who was a dentist who opposed Wonka being a candy maker, just so Wonka would be just one more character that has feelings of alienation. Why would Burton want to make a show about a family that supports each other?
Tumblr media
For Wednesday, Buton manages to turn Charles Addams child of woe, to full blown psycho. In order to punish some bullies for going after tormenting her brother Pugsley, she drops some Piranha in a swimming pool of students. As they escape from the pool, one doesn’t quite make it. As his face looks tortured, blood emerges from the water around him. As he reaches the ladder to leave the pool, Wednesday’s voice over says “I did the World a favor, because people like Dalton shouldn’t be allowed to procreate.” So castration is just punishment for her brother being shoved into a locker? So I guess it does, according to Burton’s Wednesday.  Will I be seeing this new series. No. I love the wonderfully creepy house they live in, and how supportive the family are of each other. This will be lacking in the new series. Perhaps my feelings for seeing this film, is best summed up in a cartoon Charles Addams drew in 1962.

Whatever happened to baby Jane
I can't work out if you're letting me know it has been referenced or if you're actually asking me what happened to her so I will answer in two parts:
It's referenced in 2x19 when Lorelai makes reference to the fact she's not completely isolated and she has friends who still call the house for her. See my review here
Baby Jane was a child star that basically isolated her older sister who was also an actress and wheelchair bound. Story of huge sibling rivalary and craziness.
Hope this helps!

The loser is either too queer to be a cishet movie or too cishet to be queer...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
How is it cishet media?
White Worm: Cishet because a fair amount of the movie focuses on the sexualization of the female characters towards the men in the film. I’m like 90% certain I remember straight sex in this film.
Baby Jane: No lgbt people here at all. These sisters are straight and hate each other
How is it lgbt?
White Worm: Crazy psychosexual drama for sure, snake lady makes puts of the main girls under her magical snake control in a strangely sensual way? Camp as fuck too
Baby Jane: I heard the old horror gays loved it for the drama and these two older divas' amazing acting (they didn't actually hate each other during the movie. a lot of the rumors were misogynist hokey ). And you know what? These two were great. Love the melodrama
