In before I start seeing people bitching about rainbow capitalism MY favorite rainbow capitalism story is about Subaru. Yes the Japanese car company.
In the nineties, they were struggling. They were competing with a dozen other companies targeting the main demographic at the time: white men ages 18-35, especially after a failed luxury car launch with a new ad agency. “What we need is to focus on niche demographics,” they decided, and then focused on people who enjoyed the outdoors. The Subaru was excellent at driving on dirt roads that many other vehicles couldn’t at the time, so it was perfect for all those off-road campers; they started making all-wheel drive standard in all their cars to help with that. And the people who wanted cars to go do outdoor stuff? Lesbians.
Okay. Of course it wasn’t only lesbians buying Subarus. They’re on the list with educators, health-care professionals, and IT people. But the point is, this Japanese car company interviewed this strange demographic (single, female head of household) and realized one important factor: They were lesbians. They liked to be able to use the cars to go do outdoorsy stuff, and they liked that they could use the cars to haul stuff rather than a big truck or van. Subaru had a choice to make then. They had four other demographics they could market to, after all--the educators, the health-care professionals, IT professionals, and straight outdoorsy couples. Their company didn’t hinge on this one “problematic” demographic.
And they decided “fuck it,” and marketed to lesbians anyway. This included offering benefits to American gay and lesbian employees for their domestic partners, so it didn’t look like a cash grab. (This was not a problem. They already offered those in Canada.)
Yes, there was some backlash. They got letters from a grassroots group accusing them of promoting homosexuality, and every letter said they’d no longer be buying from Subaru. “You didn’t buy from us before, either,” Subaru realized, and ignored them. It helped that the team really cared about the plan, and that they had many straight allies to back them up. There was also some initial backlash when Subaru hired women to play a lesbian couple in the commercial, but they quickly found that lesbians preferred more subtlety; “XENA LVR” on a license plate, or bumper stickers with the names of popular LGBTQ+ destinations, or taglines of “Get out. Stay out.” that could be used for the outdoors--or the closet.
Subaru said “We see you. We support you.” They sponsored Pride parades and partnered with Rainbow Card and hired Martina Navratilova as spokeswoman. They put their money where their mouth is and went into it whole hog. In a time where companies did not want to take our money, Subaru said, “Why not? They’re people who drive.” And that was groundbreaking.

Hi! I kind of have an odd request for a house of wax fic but I’m wondering if you could do a Vincent Sinclair fighting with Lester Sinclair over the reader? They both really like her so neither one is willing to cave in lol. (Nothing polyamory wise!!!!that would be so weird)
Vincent & Lester Fighting Over Reader
Crushing! Vincent Sinclair x Reader, Crushing! Lester Sinclair x Reader
Warnings: Gets a bit dark at the end if you squint
A/N: Not odd at all! Thank you for your request!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When you first showed up to Ambrose, all the Sinclair brothers (even Bo) were surprised to see you there
Nobody really came through here willingly
And although the museum was the main highlight of this town, hearing that you came for the quiet definitely raised a few brows
Mostly Bo's, who almost turned you into a wax figure before Lester and Vincent intervened
From then on, Bo let off and the other brothers sort of became your guides
Lester liked taking you through the town and showing you all the old buildings, pointing out everything they used to be
And Vincent enjoyed showing you his latest art and all of the different things set up in the museum
It felt nice to finally be in an area where you could find some peace, and the fact you made a couple buddies along the way only made you happier
But unfortunately, you didn't really know what was going on behind the scenes
Every trip you made outside with Lester was being followed by angry eyes through every window
Each time you were inside hanging out with Vincent, you couldn't help but feel like there was somebody right outside the room listening in on you both
But it was easy to shrug all of this off
You were in a town that was practically abandoned, there was bound to be a bit of a creep factor
But whenever you tucked in for the night, that was when feelings were really ignited
Lester explains how happy you seem getting to explore the town
There was no way you'd ever be content staying inside all of the time, being secluded from the world
But Vincent is always quick to show the newest art he's been helping you with, showing Lester that you were having a great time with him
Bo is always down there cursing up a storm before the arguing can be taken too far
But he knows the next night will be the same
Eventually, things start to become noticeably off for you
Your adventures with Lester are cut short by Vincent needing some help in the museum
Your time with Vincent is constantly invaded when Lester barges in, explaining that he found some new historic thing that he knows you'd love
It's getting to the point that you are unable to spend any time with one brother without the other one intruding
You enjoy both of their company, but there's always this tension whenever you all are in the same room together
As much as they want to, neither one will actively lash out onto the other
Lester knows what Vincent is capable of
And although he trusts his brother, there's something dark in his eyes whenever your name falls from Lester's lips
But at the same time, Vincent won't do anything to Lester
He knows that all it could take is one wrong move, and Lester could have you in his truck, driving far away from Ambrose only for Vincent to never see you again
These stipulations cause both brothers to only take things so far
So for now, you spend time with them like normal while you enjoy the rural town
And both brothers will staring longingly at you while spewing jealousy towards each other
Just be careful, because you don't fully know what they are capable of yet
And unfortunately, their boundaries will only last for so long before something breaks

Hi! I followed you for a long time with alot of "jeez someday I hope that can be me some day" fervor and now I am starting my own small goth shop. Do you have any tips on reaching the alternative audience? or tips on general about running a shop I'm nervous.
1a. Protect your cash flow
This is to say constantly question "does this shiny envelope packaging pack in make people love my shop more or is it a money drain?" This is not a simple answer.
It is an answer you'll ask yourself all the time.
The answer is going to shift. Fun unboxing videos? Great for social media posts. Great to get attention. Great fun. Expensive to produce. Worth it? Constantly check.
I really want to stress this: I am not saying "do not do it" -- I am saying "do what makes sense."
In the business-to-business world (you're a business, other businesses are going to sell to you), one of the most effective/common sales tactics is "take this thing you do and make it fun."
Your product is fun.
Your product is quality.
Your packaging etc.'s primary task is to get your product to your customer efficiently (easy to read address labels) and safely (stuff does not break).
Tumblr media
1b. Protect your cash flow part two
Evil Supply Co. was the original shop. It experimented with everything -- color changing cereal spoons (launched), temporary tattoos (launched), umbrellas (did not launch), plates and bowls and towels and toothbrushes and shower curtains (did not launch). So much more.
It was primarily a stationery company.
The experimenting was incredibly fun, I regret nothing, and it cost me giant truck loads of cash. That's why Netherworld Post is focusing far more tightly.
2. Can't meet budget? Reduce scope.
When you're talking to designers or web hosts or whatever, and they say "We want $$$" and you say "I have $," reduce your scope down. This fits into the above, you're noticing a theme maybe.
This is a business. It has to make money to continue, it has to make profit to pay you to continue, it has to compensate you for your time to continue.
OR
It is a hobby.
And it doesn't have to do any of those things, it just has to scratch that itch that made you pursue it. It can still sell stuff, it can be a shop, it can be open when you want and closed when you want.
There is no moral, ethical, social value difference between a business and a hobby.
Do what fits into your goals, and if your goals shift, change your shop to accommodate.
Tumblr media
3. Have fun
Your biggest competitor by a factor of 1:100 is other shops:folks posting your work without attribution or links.
You've seen the videos where someone is saying "Oh you're so pretty, you're so cute? No, YOU are so pretty, YOU are so cute." That's small business life.
There is enough for us all. Just have fun.
4a. Reaching people
Post stuff. Works in progress, memes, rambles, whatever makes you "you". Pepper in shop links and email sign up links occasionally.
Just be you.
If you don't know who you are, well, that's what you should post.
There is this idea that there is a "brand" that you have to build, and you're going to get (if you aren't getting them already) a million targeted ads to help you build this brand.
"I sell stuff. It has a price range of $X. It is high quality! Or it is cheap quality and priced accordingly! It can be found at xyz dot com. It will get to you in Z days/weeks." = 99% of branding.
The other 1% is "when you think of me, you think of X." Such as, when you think of Netherworld Post, you think of atty's antics and Fang's amused exasperation and Halloween and spooky things and mail and ghosts and mermaids, etc.
Tumblr media
4b. Decide your social media bandwith and stick to it
There are ten billion social networks.
It's common to feel like you have to be on them all 24/7. Attempting to reach this is going to burn you out and use up limited resources, it is far more effective to have an email list (this is independent of all networks) + the networks you, as a person, enjoy using and focusing there.
See #3 above. Fits here too.
5. Keep going when things are hard or convert this into a hobby You're making this shop for a reason.
That reason is more important than money, otherwise you wouldn't be doing it.
Building a shop is infinitely harder than playing video games and reading books and watching movies and dancing -- every hour you are working on your shop is an hour you're not playing video games about dancing books.
If you say "this sucks," convert it to a hobby. See #2.
The reason I'm building Netherworld Post instead of doing other business things that would make much more money is because I love it. It feeds a part of me. It makes me more "me" to run this shop than to not run this shop.
The minute that changes, I'm converting it to a hobby. Keep the door open when I want to play, close the door it when I'm tired, re-open after I rest.
If you want more money in your life, get a second job.
If you want money doing THIS -- take every problem as it lunges at your heart, take that tender in your black painted talons, look at the problem carefully, then tear it apart until you have the answers.
You are going to be doing this constantly.
It should be part of the fun.
If it's not, make this a hobby.
There is no inherent value in having it as a business.
The value is this project is it should make you more you.
Every single problem you are going to face -- every single question you are going to ask -- every single opportunity, every issue -- listen to me, everything -- has at LEAST one industry built on solving it.
Not company. Industry.
Keep going until you find someone or something that fixes it for your budget and scope.
Tumblr media
6. You do not work for other people
You mention you've been around for awhile following me, so maybe you've seen my...
...occasional ...lack... of delicacy...
...when dealing with people who have a confusion about who is running this blog (them vs. me)
People are going to say "you should lower your prices, you should post more X, you should post less Y, you shouldn't post about Z person/ business/ entity/ thing because of Reasons."
Critiques and criticism can be valid.
They are not directives that need be followed.
There are consequences for not following them (people may leave).
There are consequences for following them when you disagree with them (your shop may feel less like your shop and more like someone else's).
This is not license to be a jerk.
It means that this is your shop and it has to make you more "you" and if it doesn't then it isn't your shop it is a pain in the ass job that pays you far less than you should be paid.
It's like dating as the most confident person in the world.
"This is who I am. Am I compatible with you? IF SO we will drink root beer and dance badly to old cartoons and dress up in silly costumes and be absurd. IF NOT then I wish you well, and the instant you are gone, I will never think of you again."
Tumblr media
I ask no one to change who they are when they follow my blog or read my rambles or shop in my stores.
I do not change who I am for the people who follow my blog or read my rambles or shop in my stores.
You must adopt this attitude too.
Or it's not your shop.
It belongs to people you don't know who make you uncomfortable.
Which is the exact description of the world's worst paying job or second job. Which is the exact opposite of why you are building your shop.

Excerpt from this New York Times story:
Federal regulators on Monday approved sweeping changes to how America’s electric grids are planned and funded, in a move that supporters hope could spur thousands of miles of new high-voltage power lines and make it easier to add more wind and solar energy.
The new rule by the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, which oversees interstate electricity transmission, is the most significant attempt in years to upgrade and expand the country’s creaking electricity network. Experts have warned that there aren’t nearly enough high-voltage power lines being built today, putting the country at greater risk of blackouts from extreme weather while making it harder to shift to renewable sources of energy and cope with rising electricity demand.
A big reason for the slow pace of grid expansion is that operators rarely plan for the long term, the commission said.
The nation’s three main electric grids are overseen by a patchwork of utilities and regional grid operators that mainly focus on ensuring the reliability of electricity to homes and businesses. When it comes to building new transmission lines, grid operators tend to be reactive, responding after a wind-farm developer asks to connect to the existing network or once a reliability problem is spotted.
The new federal rule, which was two years in the making, requires grid operators around the country to identify needs 20 years into the future, taking into account factors like changes in the energy mix, the growing number of states that require wind and solar power and the risks of extreme weather.
Grid planners would have to evaluate the benefits of new transmission lines, such as whether they would lower electricity costs or reduce the risk of blackouts, and develop methods for splitting the costs of those lines among customers and businesses.
The commission approved the rule by a 2-1 vote, with the two Democratic commissioners in favor and the lone Republican, Mark Christie, opposed. Mr. Christie said the rule would allow states that want more renewable energy to unfairly pass on the costs of the necessary grid upgrades to their neighbors.
Nationwide, energy companies have proposed more than 11,000 wind, solar and battery projects, but many are in limbo because there’s not enough capacity on the grid to accommodate them. What’s more, individual developers are currently required to pay for grid upgrades to accommodate their projects in a process that is piecemeal and slow.
Some critics say that’s like asking a trucking company to pay for an additional lane on a highway that all motorists ultimately use. A better approach, they say, would be to plan ahead for broad upgrades with the costs shared by a wide set of energy providers and users.
But the question of who pays for those grid expansions has sparked furious debate.

Tonight’s date with Sam leaves a terrible taste in your mouth.
You've only been out with him a handful of times in the past month and given his hesitancy, and that you just went through a divorce, things are moving slower than you'd want to. Though you enjoy each other's company, there's a barrier between both that impedes you from confessing your true feelings. You don't wanna jump the gun too soon and scare him away after what you've been through; and he clearly has his own reasons to hold back, too.
During your dinner today, there was a very annoying factor, out of your control, that interrupted your precious time with Sam. As you were finishing dessert, you saw your ex-husband walking into the restaurant. You tried to look away, hide your face somehow, but he quickly found you, anyway, and had the nerve to approach the table to ruin the only good thing you have in your life right now.
Marrying that man was the worst decision you made in your life; divorcing him was the best you ever did. You'd think once it was official he'd leave you alone for good, but he's dead set on making your life miserable for the rest of time because, according to him, you stained his family name, and embarrassed him with a pesky thing like a divorce.
Your ex's offhanded comments put a dampener on what's left of your date, and when Sam drives you home, neither of you say a word about what happened. After pulling up in front of your house, you glance at him, and he leans in with some reservations to kiss you goodnight, but his lips barely touch yours before having you climbing out of the cabin of the truck feeling completely down and ashamed for reasons you shouldn’t be.
It’s a pity and as stupid as it sounds, you were actually looking forward to sharing that moment with Sam. It's something he’s offered since date one. Just a kiss of his lips colliding with yours always made you forget for a minute all that sadness and dread you carry on your shoulders. It gave you hope for something more, and right now, you just feel like it might never happen again after tonight. You can’t help but think this is maybe too much for him and that you’re not really worthy of his affection.
It unsettles your stomach and worsens your affliction, and after an hour or so of being unable to fall asleep, you just follow a sudden impulse of slipping into your clothes and drive up to the motel because you can’t keep wondering if he wants you or not, and you should find out now, rather than later.
In the short drive to Sweet Virginia, you concentrate on gathering your thoughts and putting together what you’re going to tell him.
As you park the car, you glance at his room’s window to see that he has the light on. You take a deep breath, step out and anxiously approach his room.
You shyly knock twice on his door, and when he opens, he stares at you, puzzled by your presence at this hour, before inviting you into his room without so much as a word.
Perhaps this was a bad idea, you realize as you set your feet inside, noticing your pulse going through the roof.
You close the door behind you, and lean back against the other side to keep yourself steady, as his eyes remain fixed on you, waiting for an explanation of this impromptu visit.
You’ve never seen him this late, to be honest. He still has his jeans on, but his shirt and boots are gone. There’s faint music playing somewhere, and you glance at his bedside table to see he has the radio on.
“I uh…” your words get stuck in your throat.
So much for bravery.
“It’s everything okay, sweetheart?” he finally asks, brow drawn low in a deep furrow.
You simply shake your head and swallow thickly before saying, “you didn’t kiss me goodnight.”
His lips pull up at one of the corners, seemingly amused; though you didn’t say it to be funny.
“I did kiss you.”
“No. That wasn’t a kiss, Sam. That wasn't even a peck.”
“You’ve come here to tell me that you didn’t like my kiss?”
“It’s not just that,” you heavily sigh, finding the speech that you’ve been rehearsing in your head during the car ride, “look, we’ve been doing this dance for a while, and I’m sure you’ve noticed that I like you, and that I want more. I need more. I… I thought you did too.” You pause, and gaze at the lamp for a beat, hoping he’d say something, but he lets you continue with your rambling, “I know tonight was weird. I’m sorry he ruined our date, but if you thought for a moment that I have feelings for him or something, you’re wrong. That’s been over for a long time.” You take a deep breath, closing your eyes for a second, “if I’m putting you on the spot right now… I’m sorry for that, too. I know that maybe I'm a little too much and too complicated for you, but I’m not asking you to marry me. I just wanna be with you, Sam. You make me happy, but if you don't have room in your life for me… Say it, and I won’t ever bother you again.”
He pulls his eyes away from you for a long moment, considering your words.
“Okay, I guess I got my answer,” you take his silence as a very telling sign that he doesn’t wanna be with you but doesn’t wanna break your heart either. So you turn around and reach for the doorknob.
“No, It’s not that, sweetheart,” he says under a sighed breath, staring at the tremor of his joined hands, held up mid-waist.
“Then, what is it, Sam?” you barely glance over your shoulder to look at him.
“I was trying to be considerate. It’s a small town, people talk, and I know how he treated you,” he slowly drawls, listing reason after reason, “I wanted to give you space, and time, so you could heal, be yourself, and see that there’s so much more in the world than jumping into a relationship with the first guy who’s nice to you.”
You turn slowly to face him again, letting his words sink in.
“It's not very considerate of you to assume what I want or need. That's up for me to decide. I know who I am, and I've already seen what's out there. Just because you have a piece of information about me doesn't mean that you know everything about me or what’s best for me.”
“I know.”
“Do you? Cause I’ve never told you that I've felt dead and empty for years, and the first time that I've felt like myself again was with you. And you say you wanted to be considerate, but you weren't. If you were… you'd have stayed away from me.”
“You're right.”
“That's all you have to say, Sam, that – I'm right? What about tonight, you just wanted to give me space too?”
“No,” he looks directly into your eyes as his jaw tenses, and his sweet voice changes, giving away a pent-up anger he hadn't shown before as he explains, “I wanted to kill him for the way he looked at you tonight, and the way you held my hand for dear life when he came to the table and I… when I dropped you home, I drove back to the restaurant, took a good look at him without getting out of the truck, and came back here, cause I'm as much of a coward as he is. I don't know what I was thinking, but I know that I shouldn't have left you like that… ”
“You're not a coward,” you let out a shaky breath, having your eyes welling up.
“I am,” he scoffs.
“You're not,” you repeat, slowly bringing your hands up to hold his face, letting his bear pickle your palms, as your thumbs rest on his cheekbones, “I know what a coward looks like, and that's not you, Sam. Would you really do something like that for me?”
“I'd do anything for you, sweetheart,” he confesses, taking one of your wrists and pressing his lips on the inside, “does it surprise you?”
“A little,” you exhale, relieved as that weight gets lifted off your shoulders, “I'm sorry I caught you off guard. I just couldn't hold it any longer.”
“It's okay. C'mere.”
He closes the small distance between you, tucking his arms around you, pulling you flush against his chest. You curl your arms around his neck, noticing his face pressed at the curve of your neck, and his nose inhaling the scent of your skin for a long time while you sit still in that tender moment, not wanting to ever let go of him, and vice versa.
Some of your worries fade into the dark the longer he holds you, as the radio plays an old song that you vaguely start swaying to without even realizing. He's hugged you before, but nothing like this indulging, heavenly embrace. Your stomach flutters as your fingers slide at his nape, weaving Sam's curls absentmindedly, garnering a pleased hum out of his lips. He pulls his head slightly back, and you're taken aback by the way he holds your stare, having his soul bleed out of those sweet browns, before letting the sudden urgency of his lips capture your mouth in a deep, breathtaking kiss. It takes you a second to respond and match that raw energy of his tongue that makes your knees tremble.
Totally invested in that intense, sloppy exploration of each other's mouth, you forget how to breathe. It also goes unnoticed when your back is once more pressed against the door by his hands holding your hips firmly against it. You can only focus on the sweet taste of his mouth and the warmth igniting his skin beneath your palms. He slowly becomes a furnace, consuming the little air you have left, invading your space as he presses his whole body against you.
If he ever held back, he sure has unleashed all himself now, and it all clears any doubts you had of him earlier.
Sam had been dying to have you like this, and he's determined on making it up to you for that lame excuse of a kiss he gave you earlier.
The signs of his body are truly eye-opening. You feel it in your mouth and palms, in the grip of his hands, and the swelling of his bulge closely pressed against your hips.
Just as it started, it promptly ends, unwarrantedly, with him pulling his lips away and resting his forehead on top of yours as his breathing catches.
“See?” That wasn't so hard, wasn't it?” you exhale, petting his beard with both hands.
“It is pretty hard, actually,” he remarks, amused.
“I've noticed.”
You both laugh softly at the same time.
Unable to fight that whim lingering at the tip of your tongue, you inhale deeply before capturing his lips one more time. It comes slow and oh so tender this time, it makes your heart swell in delight when his lips bounce thrice against yours.
“You wanna?” Your cheeks heat up, tugging at his belt as a hint.
“Yeah, I wanna,” his voice rasps before kissing you one more time.
He then takes your hand and walks you up to his bed. The covers are slightly messed up in the side he had been laying, and as you swallow in anticipation, you take off your shoes by the foot of the bed.
Sam reaches with his hands and starts undoing the buttons of your flannel shirt before pushing it off your shoulders. Your head leans forward, and you kiss his collarbone as he grabs the hem of your tank top and pulls it over your head, exposing your bare torso. Your skin comes ablaze, having his fingers running up your back as he undresses you.
As much as you'd want to jump right into it and get it over with, you take your time, appreciating every precious caress and kiss and hug he offers when his arms lock around you, reveling in the heat of your body that is just as warm as his. He whispers how beautiful you are against your hair as his hands misbehave, slipping down your back to grab your ass. You smile at the curve of his neck, and give him a nibble, before taking a step back to slip out of the rest of your clothes.
He watches enraptured as you push down your jeans and underwear before timidly laying on the mattress, biting your bottom lip. You lean on your elbows, and set your knees apart, offering yourself to him.
Staring at the tempting sight of your body, bathed in the honey-yellow light of his lamp, Sam mumbles something under his breath, and undoes his belt and fly. Halfway through pushing his bottom layers down, he props a knee on the bed and as he climbs on top of you, he shimmies out the rest of the way out of his boxer briefs and jeans. He touches your belly button with his lips, and drags them up up to your neck, leaving a trail of wet kisses and beard tickles.
Sam nestles between your legs, prying them further apart as his soft steel erection slots against your slicked folds. Propped on one elbow, he caresses your hair and captures your gaze before immersing himself in the depth of your mouth once more. His hips rock delicately against our pussy, so you can feel the length and thickness of his cock in all its extent as it swells harder with every stroke. It rubs in all the right spots, stirring a new wave of arousal that makes you moan against his lips.
Taking that as a hint, he makes some room for his hand between your bodies and gingerly guides the blunt head of his cock and half his shaft to breach your opening.
“You okay like that, sweetheart?” his stare and hand go back to your face.
“Yeah, I'm good. M'good,” you repeat, soothing your palms slowly down his broad back.
Sam starts moving at your cue, ever so carefully at first, as he buries himself further inside you, inch after inch, stretching the tender confinement of your walls.
Your lips part in a silent sigh, as he rocks back and forth, enjoying the cadence of your hips moving along with his, a little off tempo.
There's nothing but adoration held between his stare and yours. You get lost in the dark of his eyes as he makes love to you for the first time.
Once you're used to his size, your eager palms land on his ass and press, asking him to go harder and per your whims, his thrusts come gradually more enthusiastic than before.
“Is this what you wanted?” he purrs over your lips, driven to indulge all your desires.
“Yeah,” you exhale, half smiling, “I wanted all of you.”
Your hands travel from his ass up to his shoulder blades, marking your nails on his back as you get caught in that crucial spot where every muscle of your body tenses and aches, queuing that inevitable orgasm.
“Come with me, Sam, please,” you urge him as you get closer and closer.
Following your wishes, his thrusts come sharper, and stronger. The sound of your moans makes his cock twitch at your desperate pleading. And just a couple of pushes after, he spills all his seed as your walls contract in a big tight squeeze for a moment before enjoying those delicious after flutters pressing repeatedly around his cock.
Both of you are overtaken by a similar storm of elation that has you giddy and breathless as it courses through your body like wildfire.
He hasn't come in a while like that, not with another person at least. And your sex drive has been pretty low for a while, so tonight it was like putting two missing, intricate puzzle pieces that needed to slot together for the sake of completing the picture once and for all.
The room becomes blurry while the orgasm ebbs, and you're sure there are tears striking down your cheeks of pure joy. You feel Sam's beard scratching your skin when he buries his face in the crook of your neck. You love how his weight feels on top of you, as overwhelming as it is with all the sweat and steam emanating from both bodies.
“We should've done this a long time ago,” he sweetly drawls when his breathing returns.
You smile to yourself and send a hand to pet the wet curls at his nape, as he kisses your neck.
“Yeah, we should have.”

It was incredibly rare to see Truck without a scowl on his face. In fact, it was so rare that many Shadows could count on one hand the number of times they've seen Truck make any sort of expression other than pissed off.
And it was this surly demeanor that allowed Truck sanctuary in his shop. Away from the prying eyes and too-curious Shadows he rather not deal with.
That and his constant chasing unwanted visitors with a wrench.
It was safe to say that Truck's shop was strictly off limits to anyone else.
Hence why it was such a great place to hide when you needed it most.
Truck was aware of how Shadows avoided his shop like the plague. He was fine with this, happy about it actually.
So he preferred to blame his rather amiable reaction on the shock factor of finding one of the youngest Shadows curled up in the corner of his shop.
"Sorry I can go." Flash quickly stuttered out upon seeing the hulking frame of Truck as he entered the back half of the shop. Truck grunted as he watched the lanky kid unfurl himself from the ball he had tucked himself into. Something bold and something stupid came over Truck as he watched Flash try to bolt with his head low.
"Why were you in here to begin with?" The old man growled, and if it weren't for his usual foul mood, Truck would have felt a bit ashamed for the way the kid seemed to have a heart attack at the question.
"Well, cause I know it's like the one place on base that no one will bother me. It was a stupid idea, I know, I'm sorry-" Flash didn't get to finish his sentence before Truck had thrown a hand up to stop him.
"Sit back down, kid. I ain't gonna chase you out of here. We can all use a little peace and quiet every now and then." Truck didn't know what came over him in that moment, and he won't ever know. But what he does know is he felt a bit of pity as he watched Flash's face go from terrified to traumatized. Flash didn't say a word as he sank back against the wall, tucking his long legs against his chest the best he could.
Truck would never openly admit to anyone, except maybe Candy, how his heart broke just a bit at how the normally high energy young guy was so sullen. It broke Truck's heart a bit at how he thought that at least Flash wouldn't be too much to handle for once.
Truck decided to ignore both his feelings and the young Shadow as he began to tinker with the engine in front of him.
"Does it ever get easier?" Flash mumbled, and Truck paused for a moment.
"No." He grunted out, and he could faintly hear the choked back cry coming from the only dark corner of the shop.
"You get numb eventually." Truck added, almost out of guilt and almost out of something else he didn't care to linger on. Flash sniffled, but didn't respond right away. Truck assumed the conversation to be over, but assumed wrongly.
"Is that what you are? Numb?" Flash's quiet voice practically squeaked in the dark, and Truck whipped his head around to glare the other. But the glare quickly melted as he was met with watery blue eyes, brow furrowed with genuine thought.
"Yeah, you could say that." Truck muttered, for once his deep voice not harsh. Flash nodded as he took a deep breath and wiped his nose on his sleeve.
"Sorry for disturbing your shop, sir." Flash whispered, and Truck found himself unable to conjure up any hatred. Instead, he let out a tired sigh.
"Sometimes, company is all you need to feel better. Take your time, kid."
And yeah, maybe Truck's shop was a secret hiding place for Flash from then on. A hiding place from all the responsibilities, from all the high expectations. A hiding place from the glassy eyes and gaping mouths, from the blood spattered walls and bullet ridden doors.
And yeah, maybe Truck found himself not minding the company. Even if it meant eventually dealing with lots of questions and corny jokes. He tolerated those, scoffed at them at best. He felt he had to.
They were signs Flash was coming back around, after all.

The 70s Wrap Up FINALE: Almost All Arcade Game Tier List
Never thought I had it in me. Woooo. Here we go, it's the farewell to a decade of technological growth, from when games were just a dot and some rectangles to full color displays with clear objectives.
I enjoyed the trip, but am also very grateful I can put it behind me. The 80s have significantly more deeper titles and a lot more to write about than the likes of Galaxian and Space Invaders do. Obviously helped by launch of the Famicom & NES, the Master System, the Atari 7800 and even the Mega Drive and Game Boy at the tail end of it all.
As one last look back, it's time to rank 'em all once more. No Atari Football and Fire Truck unfortunately, for reasons stated earlier. One day...
Considering the swaths of quality the arcade had at this point when compared to the Atari 2600 (and company), the structure has changed to lack an F tier, and instead have an S tier at the top. Thankfully we didn't have some extreme stinkers... but believe me, they are comin'. You'll see when the density of the release schedule increases.
D Tier
#21 Sprint 8 (16/40)
Despite the addition of color and the 8 player multiplayer, this is actually less enjoyable than Sprint 2 was. Whatever they did to the controls didn't work out in their favor. The blown up graphics look exactly as described. Lastly, they got rid of the scoring system that made the singleplayer worth a damn. If you get stupid lucky with your friend group, this could fare a little better, however. Hence why I won't call it genuinely awful.
#20 Sprint 2 (22/40)
One of the earliest examples of an overhead racer. Painfully mid. What I do like is the 12 different tracks included, means you can compete for best times for a respectable amount of time. Got obsoleted extremely quickly by Atari itself, though it did surprisingly well in American arcades.
#19 Avalanche (19/40)
Kaboom before Kaboom. It ain't that great, but that's my opinion about Kaboom too. The sound effects are pretty grating, in addition to this game suffering from the Breakout issue where you can lose far too quickly if you haven't mastered the controls. A forgettable high score chaser.
#18 Sky Diver (19/40)
The worst sounds known to man, combined with alright gameplay. Seeking out the full 'Skydiver' word, while pointless, does give an incentive to land 8 times I s'pose. The wind factor helps the replayability a tiny bit. On the verge of a C, i'd say.
C Tier
#17 Atari Baseball (22/40)
The praise I had for Atari Basketball cannot quite be replicated here. It does a better job than Home Run to replicate America's pastime, however they actually made it a bit too slow and repetitive for it to be properly enjoyable. The visuals stink too- the nice UI notwithstanding.
#16 Pool Shark (23/40)
Completely average, typical Kee Games affair which tries to replicate the game of pool in the year of our lord 1977. They almost succeeded. The Atari Flashback Classics achievement made the building of muscle memory a fair distraction. I'm pretty sure I am technically one of the best players of the world according to it's rankings now!
#15 Dominos (24/40)
Got a soft spot for this one. The game is abysmally slight, only being exactly like a shortened round of Surround, a game you can easily play at home. On the flip side however, the sounds are GODLIKE for no reason at all. How they did it with the typical Kee Games flair is beyond me.
#14 Canyon Bomber (24/40)
The first of the duo of games that involve dropping bombs out of the sky for shits and giggles. This one has the gimmick of gravity actually being a thing and allowing the numbered rocks (I think) to drop down to the floor. Aiming precisely and going for the higher numbers is alright enough. Took a couple hours for me.
#13 Destroyer (24/40)
And there's the other half. With an overlay on, this has some of the prettiest visuals i've seen as of now. As far as the game plays, it adds a little more to the table since you have to properly aim to blow up your enemies. I like it a little less than Canyon Bomber, however the aforementioned positives let it shine a touch brighter as a whole product.
B Tier
#12 Atari Basketball (26/40)
An improvement over the Atari 2600 title, in all aspects. I mean, duh, but i'm surprised how far they took that. Visually one of the most realistic titles so far, and gameplay-wise it adds a layer of complexity and snappiness to the experience. Having an actual crowd noise is the cherry on top. A good early sports title.
#11 Breakout (23/40)
In 1976, having a high score to chase and a decent dash of color was a big deal, and we HAVE seen some good games based around this one. With a regular controller however, which is the most likely way you're gonna be playing it, it's easily the least functional and forgiving of this genre. Constantly losing directly after starting and having sincere trouble to reach the top of the playing field isn't fun at all. Still, very innovative for the era.
#10 Lunar Lander (25/40)
Another milestone, it's the game that plays differently depending on the settings. You can make it pretty hard for yourself in there by constantly having to fight your spacecraft *and* gravity. Doesn't have a long lasting appeal. Perfect as a tech demo you try in the arcade once or twice. No McDonald's easter egg is a big loss.
#9 Super Breakout (26/40)
Of course Super Breakout's gotta go above regular Breakout. This one has 3 modes and slightly more forgiving gameplay in 2 of those. I can at least say I found it easier not to hate playing this over it's predecessor. It does lose some of the pre-microprocessor charm in the audiovisuals, though.
#8 Super Bug (28/40)
The shifter controls are fun as sh*t to learn as they aren't super difficult while you get gradually faster across it's 2 tracks. Setting up personal goals for this one was a hoot, too. You know what? It's an underrated jolly time. I'll vouch for it any day. If it had more replay value, it would have been an easy A tier.
#7 Lunar Rescue (28/40)
Would've expected a touch more from Taito at this point. It's a bit more on the shallow side than I would have expected in late 1979 from a company this influential. Don't take this as me saying I didn't enjoy it while it lasted, but seeing the Space Invaders show up twice kinda makes me think they knew it wasn't gonna be as hard a hitter... Hey, at least the little guys falling into nothingness is hilarious.
#6 Asteroids (28/40)
Jack of all trades, master of none. According to ME at least. It's made out of a scrapheap combination of Space War, Space Invaders and even Computer Space, which made it transform into a verrrry competent game. Shooting your laser is just all around solid. Nothing more. For that, it would've needed more meat on it's bones. So many games peak at level 4 and this is no exception.
A Tier
#5 Pong (31/40)
THE way to kick off gaming right. Computer Space was the first proper arcade release, but it was too complex to make heads or tails from back then. This, however, was something everyone understood, with a ridiculous amount of people flocking to try it out. Still remained relevant for a while as a small burst of competitive play.
#4 Galaxian (32/40)
A bit stiff to play and doesn't vary it up enough in the later rounds. That's all the negatives though. This is the best looking game by a WIDE margin due to it's extremely appealing popping colors. Considering they had only created Gee Bee and Bomb Bee before then (they did publish for Atari in Japan for a bit), that's a brutally impressive accomplishment. I still think arcade goers would easily be lured in by this cabinet 44 years later.
S Tier
#3 Space Invaders (34/40)
The first real video game characters. The first game that could go on forever rather than hitting a kill screen. The game that started a revolution in Japan and had serious traction in the USA too. The first game to have a strategy guide release for it. So many goddamn clones and follow ups on this exact hardware. Need I say more?
#2 Cutie Q (33/40)
Namco made a Breakout/pinball trilogy and RAN with it, man. Each game is more perfected and polished than the last, ending with the peak that is Cutie Q. Obscure and underrated despite being made in part by Pac-creator Toru Iwatani himself. You can tell with how much charm this one brings to the table. I doubt paddle-less brick destroying action will be as fun ever again.
#1 Space Invaders Part II (34/40)
Better Space Invaders. A stronger challenge via some extra variables, your name appearing on the high score. The quirky little cutscene. Etc. Etc. What has been said about Space Invaders can also be applied here. Doesn't matter what version you play, you'll at least have a blast from a historical perspective.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I got some ghosts to chomp and missiles to direct... Gimme a few more days!

What are The Most Common Causes of Catastrophic Injuries?
Tumblr media
A catastrophic injury can cause both physical and psychological harm, which can impact a person's quality of life. These injuries are typically caused by a few common factors that present significant risks to human safety. A personal injury lawyer will therefore assist you in these situations to make sure you receive compensation for the catastrophic injuries that people suffer. Nonetheless, the following are some typical reasons for catastrophic injury:
Vehicular Accidents
Everyone involved in a car accident has a risk of suffering serious injuries. These incidents consist of motorbike, truck, and automobile collisions.
Work Accidents
Falling is the most common cause of work-related accidents. Chemical burns, dangerous environments, and inadequate staff training are a few more.
Pedestrian Accidents
The consequences of a car striking a pedestrian on the road can be disastrous. The person may have multiple serious injuries, such as spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries.
Medical Malpractice
Sometimes medical staff members make mistakes during surgery, diagnosis, or other treatments that have a tragic impact on a patient's life.
Insurance companies thus make a strong effort to lower compensation. To ensure that you receive just compensation for all of your losses, your lawyer needs to be competent and experienced. Therefore, to obtain catastrophic injury claims in NYC, contact Godosky & Gentile for personal injury attorneys.
