The thing about reading 3 Shirley Jackson novels in a week is that you get a sudden and deep appreciation about how much your perception of reality can ruin you and then you just have to live your life about it

amanita phalloides would be a fun drag name. saunters onto the stage in a lacy beige gunne sax edwardian type gown with a huge plastic deathcap mushroom attached to the crotch (phalloides get it) and waves it around at the audience lipsynching to ethel cain’s hard times. throwing little packets of sugar into the crowd

For books ask bait: 11, 23, 27, 48?
11. what book do you want to read but haven’t?
So many! The Storygraph says I want to read 478 books so take your pick. Here's a link. I like to try many genres because my mood and preferences change quite a bit so being able to search by mood and genre is pretty helpful. I also sometimes clean up my tbr when there are books I am not interested in anymore or if I read an excerpt and did not like it.
23. what book to movie adaptation do you love?
Besides the usual answer, Lord of the Rings, I really like Coraline. I love The Princess Bride, but I never read the book and I don't think I will because I have the movie and that is perfect already. I also really like the Pride and Prejudice movie with Keira Knightley.
27. is there a book that scared you?
Nothing comes to mind even though I think there was one, but I forgot. I don't read much horror, but I want to explore that genre more. In general, I don't get scared by fiction unless it's a game. I can't play many horror games because I scream quite a lot. I guess the book that came closest to scare me was We Have Always Lived in the Castle because mob mentality is creepy and real as hell. When the crowd starts taking the house apart it was kind of scary. That is another thing: what scares me are the horrors of reality and for some reason horror writers try to create fictional things that sometimes can be embodiments of the real stuff, but are not as effective to me.
48. what book would you give someone if they wanted a glimpse into your psyche?
That would have to be a book that represents myself and my ideas and I don't think I found a perfect fit yet. The closest is probably Solanin, a manga by Asano Inio. It was more relatable to me in my 20s, but sometimes I still need the reminder that whatever happens everything will work out even if dreams don't come true. It's really refreshing that in a world of so many motivational stories about following your dreams there is a work that says it's ok if you don't have them or do not make them happen. It's ok to live an average bittersweet life. Plus, the main character is pretty relatable.
Thank you for the ask :)
