Can I ask your top 10 fav fics ever (from any fandom, if you don't mind)?

Also, just curious, is there a story behind your name "akatsuki-shin "?

To be honest, I barely read any fics at all. I may not even read one fic every year. :')

It's just that I somehow can't. I'm not even sure why, maybe it's because for me, writing fics means writing my interpretations of the characters involved. This doesn't only include the fic plot and canon details, but also the characters' way of speaking, their gestures, etc. Whenever I try to read fics written by other people, sometimes it feels like their interpretation is mixing with mine and it makes me confused.

That said, I do have one fic that I absolutely loved. This is the only fic I've ever bookmarked in AO3.

It's a Mo Du/Silent Reading fic (Luo Wenzhou x Fei Du). I love this so much because what they write in there is basically hits all my favorite tropes, and everything is exactly as how I imagine would happen, as if this fic is a part of the canon story.

Now, for the origin of the name "Akatsuki Shin"...

It's going to be super embarrassing but it's basically the name of an OC for roleplay that I created back in middle/high school when I was still an edgy chuunibyou teen, the kind of brat that thinks creating a handsome edgy emo male character with heterochromia, family issues, anti social, and a lot of life suffering is the coolest thing in the world.

I think the name "Akatsuki" came from a Vampire Knight character (before the shoujo and otome genre traumatize me) and the word "Shin" came from the kanji for "death" (bruh).

I only realized it's super cringe like several years later after I got older, but I kinda already used it everywhere, including Twitter and AO3 and it's too much of a hassle to change it, so... 😂

I finally watched the last episode and I think The Executioner's Way of Life / Shokei Shoujo no Virgin Road's central concept would work well for a WenZhou AU even if the characters don't quite line up. If you like your lesbians just as fucked up as your gays you might like this anime. [ Major spoilers for the anime. And TYK I guess. ]

ZZS: Secret assassin for the church, killing isekai'ed Chinese people who are summoned into this fantasy setting. Previously isekaied Chinese people became basically natural disasters so this religious group revolves around making sure they don't get summoned and if they do they're put down quickly. ZZS puts on a friendly and kind persona but internally is quite cold and empty. Has a dedicated subordinate (Han Ying) who is in love with them and would do anything for them. (Or you can erase the love part and use Zhang Chengling)

WKX: An isekaied Chinese person who was involuntarily summoned by a corrupt king who wanted to use them for their powers. Has the Pure Concept of Time. A bubbly cheerful personality with an instant inexplicable attachment to ZZS. When ZZS tries to kill him as ordered, he revives automatically without seeming to realize what happened. It is revealed to the audience that he has been using his powers to rewind time for the whole world over and over again to ensure that ZZS survives long enough to kill him. He wants to be killed by ZZS and for ZZS to survive no matter what, even as it erodes his own memories. To make sure he doesn't reveal the secret of the multiple time loops he locks his own the memories of them - hence the Philanthropist Wen persona. His real personality is much more calculating and ruthless and comes out at crucial moments, though he tries to hide it from ZZS.

I think it would also be funny to have Gu Xiang be summoned with WKX and insist on being taken along as well. Cao Weining can be the slightly bumbling heroic prince who operates entirely on a surprisingly good instinct to get involved in all trouble and falls in love at first sight with Gu Xiang.

Of course I haven't read the Shokei Shoujo novels so I can't say how it ends. I mostly just think ZZS would sympathize with Menou's attempts to be a "pure, strong, and just villain" - while reluctantly falling in love. And WKX would totally get Akari's insanity-level devotion to Menou.

I've thought before about doing a time-loop WKX. I think there's a lot of room for angst with a Wen Kexing who repeatedly reverts to the moment his parents were killed and has to live his life over and over again to perfect his revenge without dying. More of a Re:Zero AU situation where the key to success isn't obsessively following the events of the five lakes but instead finding and following zhou zishu. The only way to get a "good ending" is to grow as a person and fall in love and awkwardly adopt this teen kid after you indirectly massacred his family.
