Dear many anons, I’ve kept you waiting there way too long my love. Also thank you @larrysballetslippers​​ in particular for bullying me into releasing this thing hahahah. I’m SORRY. This has been sitting in my drafts unfinished for so so so so SO long because I wanted to do it right and I still don’t know if I did but enough is enough. This is a big big long big post about the song Kiwi. Lyric breakdown, time of writing, many possible meanings, song parallels, music video, you name it. I know Kiwi has been analysed a lot a lot and this is not an alternate reading to anything, this is putting many possible interpretations together at once. Really I’m gonna bring a whole lot into this. Maybe read it in a couple of sittings. It’s a lot to digest. Let's go! Kiwi Kiwi Kiwi wooo

All this should be obvious but with other analyses where I didn’t state these things I got a couple of responses that show I should have so blabla incoming: 
Not trying to convince you of anything, don’t take things too literal, things can have multiple meanings, there are nuances to things even though I might fail to bring it in a nuanced matter sometimes. I’m nowhere trying to claim these interpretations are what he meant when he wrote this because how would I know (and people claiming other things don’t know either). Just decide for each thing if it makes sense to you, stay skeptical, crunch that brain and welp with this analysis you kinda have no choice this time because I’m giving a ton of different interpretations and they definitely don’t all fit together. 
All that said this is coming from someone who is convinced Harry & Louis are together and the lyrics at the very very least are incorporating babygate so just get ready to have that in here loads. It’s also written with the assumption whoever reads this knows all about that. If not have this. 
Song parallels disclaimer: with pointing out song parallels I’m not implying whichever song was written later is referencing the other one. I’m simply pointing out there parallels can be drawn and you can interpret it whichever way you like. Especially those between Harry’s and Louis’ lyrics it’s dare I say a realistic conclusion to draw that they are and will continue to have loads and loads of parallels in their work not because they’re doing it on purpose to relate to each other but because they’re going through the same stages together, hardships, and being exposed to the same shit over and over again, oh I don’t know maybe because they’re sharing a life. Although I do think some of the times they do purposefully leave lil nods to other songs because they are somehow related to the song they’re writing, and that sometimes those are each other’s songs, just know that when I point out a parallel that’s not because I’m thinking Louis’ music is based on Harry’s and vice versa or something. Ok got that out of the way.

Things known about the writing process
It was one of the first songs he worked on after 1D. We got footage of him singing it with long hair (gif above, credits here), so it was before may 2016, and this pic of I’m assuming the same moment:

He's said this about Kiwi:
"It started out as a joke, now it's one of my favorite songs. It's one of the first ones I wrote for the album, when I was getting out a lot of energy. I hadn't written in a long time and this is what came out of it." - here
There really isn't any other option to explain this song except for resorting to “haha jk lol” now is there?
“Getting out a lot of energy” I have trouble interpreting more than one way. I almost want to state it as a fact that it was him getting out a lot of frustration. Almost as if there was sOmEtHiNg really fueling this thing. I think the stuff he chose to get out there first as he went solo is very telling, with Kiwi being the 2nd released music video after Sign of the Times. He came out of 1D, went on a 6 minute strugglerant about being sad and stuck (in the industry/closet/his image) in a defeatist (but not entirely devoid of hope) kinda way and then followed it up with another 3 minute rant about losing it, shit happening around him driving him crazy, this is frustrating the fuck out of me I'm just gonna release that energy by yelling about the thing that frustrates me the most among all this bullshit over and over again let's go SHE'S HAVING HIS BABY AND IT'S OUT OF OUR HANDS yes this is how I cope. I don’t know if this needs to be said really but I do think it’s about that, about babygate. (also there’s this idea it’s written by louis and I think that doesn’t make much sense) It’s really in your face, it’s so obvious it somehow becomes hard to believe he really did that but I do think he really did. That said, it could be that it’s not just about that, that it’s about all stunts, stunts in general, or even the whole (media/industry) circus, and that it includes details of both of the messes he as well as the people he cares about were/are involved in with the main one, the most frustrating one, being babygate. Still there are bbg-free alternate interpretations that I’ll get to as well.
Kiwi lyric breakdown:
She worked her way through a cheap pack of cigarettes
One line in and the scene has already been set: there’s a girl and she got no class.
There’s a lot of play on words in Harry’s songwriting and this song is no exception. So I already want to highlight the choice of the word “cheap” here and how it might be deliberate as later on there’s also a “business”, an “I paid for it/I’m gonna pay for this”, even the “cha-ching!”. He’s leaving a trace of a theme: money 
Parallel: Night out and it's ten grand, headlines that I can't stand - Just Like You
Who is "She"? Let’s list a whole bunch of possible interpretations (and with that, that of the whole song): 
It’s one specific girl the entire time as I’ve seen some not very deep interpretations of it being about ~certain girls he has been associated with~. And I’m not going into this whatsoever because NO
Still on that one girl, and the song is exactly what it looks like: a girl in da club every boy has got his eyes on, maybe not even anyone specific but a nice concept for a song with not much behind it (again, no.)
Still one specific girl the entire time, but yaknow babygate and first girl in line by a mile is definitely Briana, now we’re getting somewhere
an accumulation of girls he or those close to him have encountered that have had alterior motives (like stunts). That some lines include details of one of them and others being inspired by others.
the industry / fame / behavior of those in that world as a whole. The not-so-glamorous side of it that the insider, Harry, is seeing. Something looking great but it being a facade. Rock and roll, living fast, no real glory, hard liquor mixed with a bit of intellect
Harry is She, Harry is always all the She’s (I’m not going into this but really you can kinda make it work)

Yeah so whoever she is, she's just smoking something and drinking something  and she's not very smart either, he’s really not trying to paint her in a good light here.
I'm setting myself up here for another parallel: "Now we're saying goodbye, Waving to the hard times, Smoke something, drink something" in We Made It
And all the boys, they were saying they were into it
This of course is a way of describing this girl’s appearance/behavior is generally considered to be desirable. But! The ambiguity in this line I love so much. You can easily accept this as him insinuating he’s into it like everyone else and he’s one of the boys if you want it to. Orrr iiisssiiittttt?? He’s not saying he’s one of those boys. (Later on there is that “but I’m into it”, I’ll get to it.) All the boys, ya know the boys who like the girls, are saying that's what they're into. I'm not into girls, I have no clue, but look all the boys were saying they were so apparently this is of interest.
Parallels: 
"The boys and the girls are in, I mess around with him/them, And I'm OK with it, I'm coming down, I figured out I kinda like it" - Medicine. I do think this is deliberate, although it doesn’t have to have the same meaning. But they seem to be written around the same time. It could be to weave songs (that were probably intended to be on the same album) together, just for the fun of it, or maybe even to use the same concepts for opposite meanings which I believe he’s done multiple times since (or all of the above, or none, who knows but the mermaid).
"told myself I kind of liked her" - Home. I know this line doesn’t look like much without context, but I think this line is vital to Home and its story, and that Home means a great deal to H, so, possible intentional parallel I’d say yes [please ask me about H vs home parallels] (this will come back)
And then another interpretation can be that “it” isn’t a woman at all, but a situation, a mindset, fame, this kinda lifestyle, *coughs* some “it” that has to end *coughs*, you name it.
Such a pretty face, on a pretty neck
Extension of the previous 2 lines, there's only a little bit of intellect up in that head on that neck there but at least it's something good to look at, or so I've been told.
Also it's really petty. To me this reads as ridiculously passive aggressive (not to mention the tone of this whole song, he's just aggressively screaming all of it), like he’s just focusing on the neck like he just wants to slit that throat.
She's driving me crazy, but I'm into it, but I'm into it
On surface level he's one of the boys that's into this girl right? That's the obvious. That's what the song seems to allude to, the thing you conclude as a casual listener: there's a girl he finds attractive, as does everyone else, she's driving him crazy with it and he's into it. So in part I think some of these lines are written with that concept in mind, in such a way that it supports both that idea and what the song is really about. Here we got a very easy line saying he’s finding her attractive basically, orrrrr iiisss ittttttt
First tho: more parallels on HS1 with this with in Only Angel & Carolina, we got more girls driving him crazy by just being and he's oh so extremely into it. (not including Woman as he doesn't really seem to be much into it there) And I totally interpret these songs in different ways, I’m just saying, casual-listener’s (or aggressive het harrie making everything about girls would count as well I guess) level it’s these themes again and again.
But then there's that second layer, that’s the driving me crazy maybe isn't a positive kind of crazy. And the part where he’s into it could mean many many many things
I’ve also seen yet another interpretation that being into it means that he’s stuck in the situation that’s frustrating the fk out of him, he’s part of it, whatever it is. And then lemme just add Golden: when it ends, don’t wanna let you know. SOTT: they told me that the end is near, he just wants to *** **
Another interpretation could be that he’s just going along with the boys, because they were just now saying they were into it, but then he’s backtracking with adding a kind of:
I'm kind of into it
Oop there it is again, the same parallels as mentioned above but it’s getting worse with 
“[all the boys said they were into her] I’m kind of into it” - Kiwi
"told myself I kind of liked her" - Home 
"The boys and the girls are in, I mess around with them/him, And I'm OK with it, I'm coming down, I figured out I kinda like it" - Medicine 
kind of. In the context of liking girls. Reminds me of them answering interview questions with shit like "I guess you could say that yeah" like.. Yeah KiNdA. But, not really maybe.
But also (I am GOING PLACES WITH THIS JUST STRAP IN HOLD ON TO YOUR GRANDMA)
I think songwriters sometimes are inspired by situations/events that don't really have a positive side to them but they add something positive to the song anyway ("but I like it" or they end on a twist where "but you came back to me" or someshit) otherwise the song isn't... fun... isn't attractive. The same goes for Stockholm Syndrome. So here it could be that this shit's just driving him off a cliff and he's losing it and that's just it, like he’s not into anything he’s just going insane but that won't do for a song, so he adds that he’s into that craziness.

Oh, I think she said "I'm having your baby, it's none of your business"
Here of course we need to talk about the main message of the song, the elephant in the room, considering he wrote this song in the same months his enemy and other half of the horrible conspiracy that ruined their friendship had a "baby" that was also a huge target of another horrible disrespectful conspiracy and it really does seem none of his business doesn't it? Sorry but if this song is about anything but that and the having a baby is an analogy of literally anything else, that's one hell of a poor word choice then isn't it? There must have been someone, just at any point any point at all in this whole songwriting process going don't you think this is gonna come off as .. ya know.. that? Don't you think there was someone, anyone, at any point going like, hey, so, you know the only baby born in your near vicinity as far as fans know recently is that kiddo from that dude people think is secretly actually dating you like you're not being the most considerate of that baby and that family there maybe like but idunno it’s your choice. ?????
Aaaanyway, lyrically it's smart again: he goes "oh I think she said" as it's a double-triple-down on the I got nothing to do with it: “I think", like I don't even know, "she said”, so it's a woman saying something to someone, not even necessarily to him, it's like a telephone game indirect uh I guess that's what's going on. And then literally "it's none of your business", the 3rd indicator that the "you" (person “she” is telling she’s having his baby to) as well as the "I" (singer), whether that's the same person or not, got very little to do with the endeavour.
And not just that, but the way he decided to describe it's got nothing to do with him / he's got no say in the matter is interesting too: “it's none of your business”. That's it. It's business, it's a business, it's money. Someone is having someone's baby and it's another person’s business. It's a moneymaker. That's what it's for. Case closed.
Now okay let's just consider alternate explanations, let's just consider he doesn't give a poopy about babygate, this got nothing to do with that, then what is it? (also always consider it can be multiple of these things, really why not both, why not all) "having your baby" could also be a way to describe things being said about him in the media, as it’s just one of those celebrity rumors that fly around. (How many times has Jennifer Aniston been pregnant again?) I tried. And it even makes sense. I can try again: it could also be that “your baby” is the records he makes, and that “the suits” or whatever you wanna call it then take it and turn it into their business, take something he “birthed” to make a profit. And very successfully I might add. Both of these are entirely valid explanations and do make a lot of sense to me but also both of these could have been described in many other ways, yet he chose this. As I said above, if he meant either of these and definitely not bbg, that I’m wrong about everything and whatever narrative was being pushed about Louis’ life at the time (and still) is actually real (but I don’t think it is) then what an orrible orrible word choice this is.

2nd verse:
It's New York, baby, always jacked up
Holland Tunnel for a nose, it's always backed up
Ok imma bring so many interpretations into this it’s a mess and imma pretend turning it into a list is somehow fixing that here you go:
First and easiest is that it’s just a coincidence and H is just totally awkward random, is that NY’s the place where you go when you want to make it big, where you got aspirations to be somebody, where you go on your chase for fame. I rarely think name-dropping people and places are to be taken literal, especially not in Harry's vague mess so I don't really consider "He was in New York with a girl and that girl told him that she's having his baby" as an option here.
“Jacked up” is just a way to say someone’s full on drugs, so this person or lifestyle is never sober, so yeah themes here are money, drugs, and alcohol, which I think would describe the musician/hollywood lifestyle. There have been and are many many many many musicians out there writing about that life in this way.
Did I say she’s always full of drugs yet? Lemme just emphasize: nose always backed up
He really didn't back down with the the cokesniffing sniff right there in the song either, in case it wasn’t clear what that nose was doing.
He keeps describing this woman who is claiming to be pregnant as taking substances you shouldn’t be taking when pregnant. Possibly helping to describe she actually isn’t.
A person’s chase for fame (NY mention) just consisting of partying, just doing coke basically all the time (always jacked up / nose always backed up).
There's some HS1 song-linking going on here:
Ever Since New York. Same as in ESNY, he drops “New York”, then drops a more specific well-known part of NY (Brooklyn/Holland Tunnel). He only uses NY twice in his songwriting, here and ESNY, which are snuggling on the tracklist. Got a couple of theories here. (disclaimer again, if you think ESNY is about his stepfather and don’t feel like it’s up for debate, that’s fine, stay there and just skip this bit. If you’re open to alternate interpretations read this) So he's going insane in Kiwi and then he hits his lowest low right after in ESNY. I think first of all using the same keywords across songs on an album just helps create a whole, he weaves these songs together. Or it’s worse and the NY in ESNY = the NY in Kiwi, again again that sounds like ridiculous farfetched bs if you think ESNY must be about dealing with bad news about a family member and kiwi is definitely not that and yep here’s that link again but I don’t think it is, I think that in both songs “New York” describes either fame or is a nudge to another stunt.
Carolina - coke. But also screaming about a "she" that drives him crazy :) Harry you're driving me crazy :)
Ok now for the next line

When she's alone, she goes home to a cactus
Imma drag so many things into this just... like take a break, get some water, this is a mess. HAVE FUN. Anyway so. many. interpretations:
This girl when alone goes home to a dry prickly ornament. Like she's got nothing there, really only just a plant and not even one that requires love and attention either.
This is pretty much telling that she's not going home with him / he's not going home with her right? If this song is about some attractive femme fatale that Harry's into and has had interactions with to the point where she could be telling him she's having his baby, then, what's this sentence doing here? Like what's the point of this sentence if it's about that.
Song parallels:
It's kind of the opposite of Home. You'll never feel like you're alone, I make this feel like home.
She’s alone <> Harry’s never to be felt like he’s alone She goes home to a cactus [her home’s empty] <> Harry has someone making whatever *this* is feel like home [his home’s not empty] (and yes that’s a blatant assumption Home is directed at Harry, to me that was already clear and then he just piled on Canyon Moon on top of that so eh)
There's some song-linking mess within HS1 here again, with all the girls and their homes:

She's got a family in Carolina, So far away, but she says I remind her of home, Feeling oh so far from home - Carolina
But there’s another mention of Home on this album and that’s Harry having a Sweet Creature bringing him home instead:
Sweet creature, Wherever I go, you bring me home - Sweet Creature
What to do with this info? I uh.. can go places: girls are going to their homes, he’s going to his? But common word common theme, right?
now for the cactus
Cactus, dry. Harry wet. Cactus dry Harry wet. CACTUS DRY HARRY WET. (just imagine me saying this like GAVE ME COOKIE GOT YOU COOKIE like this scene in new girl)
Harry seems to thrive in wet, just, at all times throughout all his work. He's consistently putting himself or things he cares about in water, there's this just e x c e s s i ve need to put water everywhere, to be just a nautical anchor holding looking for his sailorman diving into deep ends, plunging in, seemingly preferring to drown over any other type of hurt, not to mention the only depiction of his uh mate in his work is a fish, it just goes on, everything is wet wet wet. So yeah cactus? Not his thing. Not his place, not his home, he got nothing to do with a cactus. Harry is kelp. Seagrass. A water lily. A lotus. The opposite of a cactus.
But I got another interpretation. Soooo cacti are associated with... how do I say this, dry desert-typey landscapes... otherwise barren lands right?. That, how would you say, don’t need much fertile grounds. That don’t .. eh... Barren.

Desert. Barren. Unfruitful. Infertile. Empty. Not Pregante. Not pragnent, no pregonate. NO PREGGERS.
I also think mentioning over and over again that really all this girl is doing is smoking, drinking, and seemingly permanently on drugs is a pretty good indication that she’s not really having someone’s baby I mean you don’t need a cactus to tell you that

In a black dress, she's such an actress
Black dresses I do associate with club goers, party girls. And welp pair that with she being such an actress, some bearding/PR stunt involved female vibes here
The black dress can also refer to a lyric (I’m aware little black dress exists but not sure if I can do anything with that info; also might as well state here that any lyric may refer to another lyric anyway) or a specific person / situation
Then I do have to mention there has been someone parading around with baby bumps in black dresses not that long before this was written... But I am very weary of these kinda pretty literal interpretations, he does seem petty af here so wouldn’t put it past him.
“she’s such an actress” is a good way to say she’s faking it, tying in with the previous line, how many ways is that now you can interpret things here as him saying someone’s saying she’s pregnant but she isn’t actually? So just a little recap:
When she’s alone she goes home to a cactus, in a black dress, she’s such an actress = She’s faking it in a black dress and when there’s nobody around she’s clearly not pregnant. hmm.

Moving on, 3rd verse:
She sits beside me like a silhouette
Some girl-im-associated-with-but-idk-her vibes. This makes me think of photos of public figures supposedly having whatever type of relations and photos of them are placed side by side in articles and such.
It’s also pretty much in line with the “she’s driving me crazy but I’m into it” interpretation of not being able to escape this situation he’s in, he’s into it, part of it, she’s always there like a shadow (silhouette beside me) and it’s frustrating the fk out of him.
BUT I GOT ANOTHER INTERPRETATION AND THIS IS GONNA GET A BIT WILD and nasty:
Silhouette/shadow/synonyms of these can also be analogies of public images vs their true selves, they’re two dimensional mirrors/reflections, not them but look like them etc. But I don’t see how that makes all too much sense in the context of the rest of the song unless this verse and this verse only is doing something else entirely. Which is possible? It’s a mess, but here we go:
Then with that said I can bring in some more parallels: this kinda somewhat mirrors “Who’s that shadow holding me hostage” - Stockholm Syndrome (it’s only shadow vs silhouette really) and even “beside you I’m a loaded gun” - No Control which.. I mean only works if you view those songs as being related (which I do) and also become a bit less of a joke when you get to the next line:
Hard candy dripping on me 'til my feet are wet
Oh so Hard like the loaded gun and then candy like the sweet treat that is “Sweet where you lay / Sweet and Sour, I devour” - No Control?
and it’s also.... dripping things... onto his feet.. Yaknow.. the ... medicinecandy that’s dripping out of.. something..hard... throw in a foot fetish while we’re at it
...
With the amount of lyrics (and what he’s said in interviews, and just done, just behavior in general) that can double as something dirty I wouldn’t be suprised. But does it fit the song? I guess it could. It could be like Stockholm Syndrome / No Control and even Kill My Mind and Back To You, which you can all read as having that double meaning of being stuck / not having control over the difficult and frustrating situation they’re in (being the in the crazy music industry / PR shit / fame / you name it) but also about a uh..? ~not boring~? let’s put it like that? relationship, or even both simulaneously: Like this shit is killing me but ~the things we do behind closed doors~ serve as an antidote and help me feel better. Maybe, maybe not. None of these lines are all too convincingly alluding to that on their own but there seems to be a bit of a pattern here right? she says while trying to ignore the 6 years worth of footage of them being nasty right in front of our salads.
Also “till my feet are wet”, they were dry but the hard candy is making them wet. Like I said before harry’s thing is wet, which helps the idea this is a positive bit right? Possibly? I need this distraction from this situation until my feet are wet, till im comfortably put back in my element which is water. 
Harry’s somewhere out there laughing, literally meaning some random girl just dropped some candy on his toe and here I’m coming in with 28 diffferent interpretations....
Aaaaaanyway stepping away from that wild stuff, back to Kiwi alone. Since there’s such a big theme of substance (ab)use, I didn’t even go over the more obvious “candy” definitely at the very least doubling as a synonym for drugs again (and with that “hard candy” being hard drugs).
It’s also a movie and a whole different meaning there I don’t wanna get into
Also I think it’s funny that he mentions a cactus and then wet feet because that’s what it’s called when you overwater your plants and killing them that way, the fast route to killing a cactus via rootrot.
And now she's all over me
I can't contain this anymore I'm all yours, I got no control, No controooohoohool, poooooooowerless and I don't care it's obvious, I just can't get enough of you I got noooo control I mean yes this is probably bullshit but it keeps checking out lol.
Casual’s listener interpretation I’m not even sure is worth mentioning, that a girl is literally on top of him.
And of course it just fits with that concept that she’s driving him insane, that she’s just all over his mind, that the situation is consuming him.
Another interpretation could be that her name is linked to his everywhere he goes (thinking about 1D times where interviewers kept bringing up girls he was associated with over and over again).
it's like I paid for it (cha-ching)
There are SO. MANY. INTERPRETATIONS. HERE. 
Paying for it = buying it. Like, are you buying it? 
Are you believing she's all over him? 
Or, are you believing all these stunts?
paying for it = that money theme again. CHA-CHING, cash, big moneys, it’s a business. 
Also “it’s like”, so kinda, so, not really again? she’d be all over me as if i paid for it, but I didn’t really?
Also a bit of a clever insinuation that we’re dealing with a prostitute here right? Just for the fun of it? Or another clever wordplay, because while prostitute means “to offer for sexual intercourse in exchange for pay”, it also means “to put oneself to an unworthy or corrupt use for personal or financial gain“, for the 28th time insinuating that this girl is doing classless shady shit. (I hope it’s clear I’m not saying sexwork is something negative, it’s definitely not)
It's like I paid for it, I'm gonna pay for this
The wordplays are coming out of my pores by now, so here he flips the words around, going from “as if I was paying for it” to “I’m going to be paying for this”. This could be “You thought I was already suffering the consequences for this no no that’s nothing, I’m still going to” Or it’s even literal and he means he’s going to have to be putting money into something. Or you know totally awkward random who nows.
I personally choose to interpret this line as I'm gonna have to face some kinda backlash with this song, people are gonna be talking about this in a way others are not gonna like, yep is gonna have some effect oopsie but I'm gonna do it anyway.
Sooooooo I think that concludes the lyric breakdown I didn’t totally spend more than a month on.

Meaning of “Kiwi”
And then after all that this mfer had the AUDACITY to call it Kiwi. WTF is that? Why? How? When???

Possible meanings:

KIWI like an abbreviation, what was the joke again, Kendall I Wasn’t Interested? Lol.
Kiwi, the bird:
Bird is a word for “girl”, I don’t recall if he has addressed girls as birds before but Louis definitely does (it’s a common way to say girl in northern england if I’m not mistaken).
It’s also more specifically a bird from New Zealand, so there’s some interpretations that he’s talking about certain people that are from NZ, like Dan Wattpad, but I’m not that set on that idea.
A Kiwi’s a flightless bird and he has used (not) flying/being in the sky, being birds, and bird(cage) tats, so it could signify once again not being able to fly away and stuck in this mess ('but I'm into it')

His whole fruit aesthetics didn’t come in until the FL era (if you excuse the bananas), I don’t think he really meant to throw a fruit in there just because it’s a fruit, but who knows.

But wait! There’s more! Harry possibly being at it again and just meaning something dirty: Kiwi’s can be compared to balls (testis) too, I mean just the Kiwi on its own being a hairy ball yay for that, but it also looks like a cross-section of the (I’m trying hard here to use layman’s terms) tubes that produce the sperm. My two favorite worlds combined. It’s even purple too so this can’t get any closer to my very specific personal vibe right here. What’s your vibe you say? Explaining purple sperm thanks to Harry Styles yep that’s it. What’s a song analysis without throwing in a biology lesson (Luckily we’re not breaking down anything Kurt Cobain or we’d be here forever).
But let’s move on, to the music video because nope nope this shit just goes on.

I can’t write this massive post and not go into the music video, because what the hell, a cakefight with children in suits and puppies while yelling someone having a baby is not someone else’s business? Yeah that’s Harry Styles for you.
This kind of “weirdness” makes me think of one of his favorite songs, Flowers in the Window, which has a very particular music video (with pregnant women no less) that just descends into an almost psychedelic weirdness (thanks @wishingicouldfly​​ for talking about this hah) and doesn’t seem to have much to do with the song itsself, or does it?

Interpretation, I guess. Although, it isn’t much, not compared to the lyric insanity above:
I’d like to think he just went fuck it I want a cakefight and puppies and so it shall be. Lighten the mood of what has fueled Kiwi into existence, turning it into something cute, innocent, sweet, etc.
But ok I’m calling this the big talk so I gotta go places with this, one clear theme is kids, human kids and puppies. They were only kids trying to work it out WHAT’S WRONG WITH ME STOP (do have a parallels post about this tho) with a very obvious younger version of him, the little long haired girl, made extra double triple clear by wearing the same suit as him, this is long-haired harry. Another clear theme is fighting, half of the MV is spent preparing for battle and then it descends into chaos. So this could be the most lighthearted analogy you’ll ever see of well.. his/their ongoing battle with *all the bullshit*.
Also we gotta go here right, gotta go here... can’t leave it out, bunch of kids in a gay club being themselves before all the shits goes to shit:

I also want to share this post about his live performance of Kiwi. I do think he pours out a certain type of energy that isn’t comparable to anything else, something that doesn’t happen with any other song. But I haven’t had the opportunity just yet to experience this myself, of course there are tons of videos, but I’m sure it’s different, so I’ll let that post tell it all. 
Anyway, last point, about him singing it live, is how he decided to end HSLOT on July 14, 2018 (July 14 you say, end on July 14? really? you wanna end the tour, end it, on july 14? okay. okay. no. that’s fine. yeah this is fine too. oh yeah just bzz again in 2020 why don’t you. It’s fiiiine), and end it on singing Kiwi 3x. His entire god damn tour he ends it on screaming the “I’m having your baby it’s none of your business” song three times in a row on the three year “anniversary” of the start of babygate?

Masterpost de From The Dining Table x Brokeback Mountain (Secreto En La Montaña) parte 2

Desde que dije un poco de cosas sobre esto ayer y tuve algunas preguntas para explicarlo un poco más pensé en dedicarle un post.
Entoooonces esto se trata sobre From The Dining Table tal vez no sea tan autobiográfico, no en el sentido literal, aunque tendría que reflejarse al menos,  de lo contrario por qué hacer una canción entera sobre esto o no, pero podría ser desde la perspectiva de Jack en la película / la breve historia en Secreto En La Montaña y creo que también podría haber hecho lo mismo con TBSL y The Notebook. 
FTDT (así como Sweet Creature) suena como si estuviera saliendo directamente no gay (ademas de explicar lo de la banda sonora @bluewinnerangel hace una pequeña broma sobre salir del armario siendo hetero y no gay) de la banda sonora de Secreto En La Montaña, explicado aquí. Especialmente los tracks "The Wings" y "Brokeback Mountain 2" (esa melodía en la parte de "even my phone misses your call by the way" es sólo.. una copia). Y sip, esa es la gran pista alli, es por eso que estoy conectando estos puntos y no eliminando las coincidencias porque sabes que estas letras/lyrics no son TAN específicas, pero combínalo también con las similitudes en términos de sonido y bueno hmmmmm

Analisis de la letra/lyric de FTDT x Secreto En La Montaña:
En la película, ve a verla si no lo has hecho, ve a leer este breve relato si no lo has hecho, Jack y Ennis se enamoran en Secreto En La Montaña y uhm siguen sin saber cómo dejar el uno al otro. Ambos entienden que no es seguro intentar vivir una vida juntos, Ennis ni siquiera lo considera pero Jack todavía quiere, trata de hablar de ello, pero nunca sucede. La mayor parte de su vida están en silencio sobre sus sentimientos, simplemente se aman profundamente pero continúan viviendo sus vidas con sus esposas e hijos, aún así no pueden mantenerse alejados el uno del otro y durante 20 años continúan teniendo estos “viajes de pesca" juntos y encuentran maneras de verse. Ennis se mantiene muy en conflicto con sus sentimientos y no se hace dueño de ellos tanto como lo hace Jack. Es un hombre de muy pocas palabras (bajo el pretexto de un cómodo silencio) y eso vuelve loco a Jack. Beben mucho, se sienten solos y no están bien, no parecen llamarse, pero se extrañan como locos...
Algunos fragmentos de la breve historia: 
"¿Cuánto es de vez cuando?", dijo Jack. ¿"De vez en cuando por cuatro malditos años?
"No", dijo Ennis, absteniéndose a preguntar de quién fue la culpa. "Odio que te alejes en la mañana y yo vuelva a trabajar. Pero si no puedes solucionarlo tienes que soportarlo", el dijo. "Mierda. He estado mirando a la gente en la calle. Esto le sucede a otras personas? ¿Qué demonios hacen?"
O el diálogo de Jack cuando finalmente termina con.. todo:
"Te diré qué; podríamos haber tenido una buena vida juntos. Una maldita buena vida. Nos tenía un lugar propio! Pero no lo querías, Ennis. Así que lo que tenemos ahora esta en Brokeback Mountain! ¡Todo está construido sobre eso! Eso es todo lo que tenemos, hombre. malditamente todo. Así que espero que lo sepas, ¡si no sabes nunca el resto! Tu cuenta las malditas pocas veces ... que hemos estado juntos en casi 20 años... y mides la puta correa que me mantienes puesta... y luego me preguntas por México y me dices que me vas a matar... por necesitar algo que casi nunca consigo! ¡No tienes idea de lo mal que me siento! ¡Y yo no soy tú! No puedo hacerlo... en un par de cogidas de gran altitud una o dos veces al año! Eres demasiado para mí, Ennis. ¡Hijo de puta! ¡Ojalá supiera cómo dejarte!" 
Y la respuesta de Ennis:
Entonces, ¿por qué no? ¿Por qué no me dejas ser, eh? Es gracias a ti, Jack, que soy así. No soy nada. No estoy en ninguna parte.
Entonces en FTDT:

Esto se ajusta a los sentimientos de Jack hacia Ennis.
Ennis no habla. Jack parece estar bien con este silencio la mayor parte del tiempo, pero realmente le encanta mucho más cuando Ennis habla. Esto después de que le dice a Jack algo personal, el rostro de Jack se ilumina y Ennis is like bropal what (significa que esta en modo amigo, bro etc) 
Jack: Hombre, esas son más palabras de las que has dicho en las últimas dos semanas. Ennis: Mierda, eso es lo más que he hablado en un año.
Y también como se mencionó anteriormente, Jack es el primero en terminar. Ennis parece sufrir también, pero nunca lo muestra, no delante de Jack antes de que Jack lo haga al menos.
I saw your friend that you know from work / vi a tu amigo que conoces del trabajo
He said you feel just fine / el dijo que solo te sientes bien
“He said you feel just fine” puede ser una forma de decir que simplemente lo olvide, y en la película Jack visita a su jefe que los había enviado a Brokeback Mountain (Aclaracion: ademas de ser el nombre de la película el lugar donde se situa la misma es en Brokeback Mountain) al año siguiente, y le pregunta por Ennis. A lo que tampoco obtiene una respuesta satisfactoria (gracias @swimmingleo):
Jefe: Bueno, mira lo que trajo el viento. Jack: Me preguntaba si necesita ayuda este verano. Jefe: Estás perdiendo tu tiempo aquí. Jack: ¿Qué, no tienes nada? Nada aquí en Brokeback? Jefe: No tengo trabajo para ti. Jack: Ennis Del Mar no ha estado por aquí, verdad? Jefe: Ustedes, muchachos, seguro que encontraron una manera de hacer que el tiempo pasara alla arriba. Ustedes no estaban siendo pagados para dejar de cuidar las ovejas... while you stemmed the rose (hace referencia al sexo anal, osea, en vez de ocuparse de su trabajo hacían otras cosas mas interesantes por así decirlo jajaja)  Ahora vete de mi tráiler. 
I see you gave him my old t-shirt / veo que le diste mi vieja camiseta
More of what was once mine / mas de lo que una vez fue mio 
Al final lo único que Ennis tiene de Jack es su vieja camisa. Y descubre todo este tiempo que Jack tenía la suya.

Copiando una gran parte de la breve historia de nuevo, en serio sólo tienes que ir a leer toda la historia en su lugar: 
En el fondo del armario algo se encuentra en la pared, oculto, rígido colgado de una percha(o gancho de ropa dependiendo de como le digan en su país), colgaba una camisa. La saca de la percha. La vieja camisa de Jack de los días de Brokeback. La sangre seca en la manga era su propia sangre, una hemorragia nasal provocada en la última tarde en la montaña cuando Jack, en un momento de lucha, había golpeado la nariz de Ennis con fuerza con su rodilla. Esto provoco que la sangre estuviera por todas partes, pero Ennis de alguna manera pudo detenerlo con la manga de su camisa. La camisa parecía pesada hasta que vio que había otra camisa dentro de ella, las mangas cuidadosamente puestas dentro de las mangas de Jack. Era su propia camisa a cuadros, perdida, había pensado, hace mucho tiempo en una maldita lavandería, su camisa sucia, el bolsillo rasgado, los botones perdidos, robados por Jack y escondidos aquí dentro de la propia camisa de Jack, las camisas como dos pieles, una dentro de la otra, dos en una. Presionó su cara en la tela y respiró lentamente a través de su boca y nariz, esperando el humo más tenue y la salvia de la montaña y el hedor dulce y salado de Jack, pero no había un olor real, solo el recuerdo de él, solo la imaginación de Brokeback Mountain del que no quedaba nada más que lo que tenía en sus manos.

Todo el mundo lo puede decir. Nadie dice nada. Pero saben que estos dos tenían ~ un vínculo especial ~. Especialmente los padres de Jack cuando Ennis visita su casa al final y encuentra esa camisa.
Maybe one day you’ll call me and tell me that you’re sorry too / tal vez un día me llames y me digas que también lo sientes

Tal vez un día [...] ... tal vez algún día... Tengo la esperanza de que tal vez algún día... pero al final. Me doy cuenta de que no va a suceder -> Jack sigue esperando que tal vez algún día vivan sus vidas juntos, pero Ennis nunca los deja ir allí, no lo ve como una opción, simplemente se queda en silencio. Pero al final Jack sabe dónde están parados, o siempre lo ha sabido, supongo, déjalo  ser... Lo último que leemos desde la perspectiva de Jack en la breve historia:
Más tarde, ese abrazo soñoliento se solidificó en su memoria como el único momento de felicidad sin arte y encanto en sus vidas separadas y difíciles. Nada lo empañó, incluso el conocimiento de que Ennis no lo abrazaría cara a cara porque no quería ver o sentir que era Jack el que sostenía. Y tal vez, pensó, nunca habían llegado mucho más lejos que eso. dejemos ser, dejemos ser.
Woke up the girl who looked just like you I almost said your name / Desperté a la chica que se parecía a ti casi dije tu nombre
Ambos están con una familia, con esposas / novias. No creo que haya una chica que se parezca a la otra, o una mención de casi decir los nombres del otro o cualquier cosa, podría haberlo extrañado me refiero al resto echa un vistazo aksdjaslk. El más cercano tal vez paralelo que podría pensar es una llamada entre Ennis y la esposa de Jack:
"Jack solía mencionarte", dijo. "Eres el compañero de pesca o el compañero de caza, lo sé. Te lo habría hecho saber", dijo, "pero no estaba segura de tu nombre y dirección. Jack mantuvo la mayoría de las direcciones de sus amigos en su cabeza.
Así que.... Sí....

no significa que la historia de Secreto En La Montaña y todos sus detalles reflejen la vida de Harry. SI algo de esto fue incluso a proposito. Claramente le encanta y ha hecho referencias a otras películas también, como The Notebook y Papillon y esas tampoco son copias de su vida. Simplemente no significa que sea Jack en todos los sentidos y Louis sea exactamente Ennis y la parte donde Ennis está mostrando resistencia a su amor no debe significar que Louis está haciendo lo mismo o lo que sea.

Este post fue sólo para mostrar los paralelismos y puedes sacar cualquier conclusión que desees de esto, pero por favor, sólo ten en cuenta que Harry no está en control de todos los detalles en esta película LOL y SI esta canción realmente sólo es un fanpiece de Secreto En La Montaña no significa que él está metido exactamente en cómo se desarrolla esta película porque está viviendo la versión exacta de su vida real en todos los sentidos. (Me temo que vamos a tocar estos mismos pensamientos una vez que My Policeman se estrene, esooo va a ser divertido)

En todo caso, todo este se llego a  este análisis porque los detalles en esta canción, en mi opinión, no se ajustan a las descripciones de Harry y Louis de su amor y dinámica y lo que han pasado en la mayoría de sus otras canciones.

just decided to sit down and just TAKE APART HOME, HUSSLE IT, and go yep that's it that's my new song alright why because my lil louis lil blue wrote this for me hihihi that's why Listen to how Home starts, the "make a little conversation", and then compare that to Canyon Moon, the "you gotta see it to believe it". There are a bunch of obvious parallels between these 2 (oh I dunno maybe mermaid just yelling Home home home I'm going home over and over for one), but because these lines really sound the same the same and I had noticed some of these lines are quite similar too ("make a little conversation" vs "quick pause in conversation") I got the idea to check and compare them all and uh... I think there's really some fun intent going on here.
All the lines in Home that are sung this way:

"so many nights I thought it over"
"told myself i kinda liked her"

"want to wake up and see your face" / "see the smile as it starts to creep in" (context in home is waking up in the morning looking into each others eyes) -> "you gotta see it to believe it" (context is "sky never looked so blue" so then lemme just bring in "I get so lost inside your eyes, would you believe it?" - Adore You. blue skies blue eyes same same)
"still high with a little feeling" -> "carry the feeling"

Look at that. LOOK. AT. THAT. Listen to it. (Playlist of all songs mentioned in this post here) Listen to how all these lines are sung exactly the same, and like that's not enough they're same words same contexts same same!?
Also wanna just bring in the brainfarts happening over at me trying to find peace not having these parallels haunt me constantly which I try to resolve by making these silly little highlighter central mad professor's insane scribbles on a whiteboard except I'm not a professor and it's Harry's insanity and this is made in powerpoint:

There's a whole B side to this post coming ~Joni Mitchell parallels~ after more home parallel rambles below the cut:
To me the "Told myself I kind of liked her" in Home is one of the most important lines. In either case, but especially in the case of it possibly being very literal. That Louis possibly tried to convince himself that he did like her, and so he had a period where he was truly considering not being with whom makes him feel alive le curly boy, I mean it's right there in the above lines, although I'd like to think he talked about women in general, and not about recent feelings but rather the whole part where you are a kid realising you're not straight and well the whole song the whole song is a gift to anyone who has been there. That either way this line to me encapsulates that fear of what if you decide we're not enough to the curly boy "you" in question.
Then with that we can go back to possible intentional parallels, as Harry not once but twice in different contexts in Canyon Moon writes he's currently not home (implied that the time under the canyon moon is home), and while he's thinking back to that time of being home, he hears a girl talking: "I heard jenny saying" (I'd also like to think that it perhaps was "I heard her saying' at first and then they wrote Kid's fam into it, not based anything really, just, possible.) and then again in the last verse "she plays songs I've never heard, an old lover's hippie music, pretends not to know the words" which I take as a huge crazy wordplay puzzle, because he's saying the "she" is doing something he doesn't know about (copy from here:) here I think he's using [not knowing the song she is playing] to describe something being off, not his jam, not his music, in the same waters as "but there was something missing in her eyes", he's just thinking back to a time under the Canyon Moon, just waiting to go home, so he describes being somewhere that's not home as songs being played he doesn't know. And I'm not done with that line yet as there's that sweet sweet keyword "pretend" drop, all these sneaky little "pretend" "lying" "trick" words just sprinkled into all kinda contexts everywhere, is he trying to tell us something?
But beyond that I think this hippie music verse is just fat thiccccc greasy juicy references to Joni Mitchel, so off we go to the second parallel:

Harry's driving me into the laurel canyon with this. It's absolutely not any new info that Harry loves Joni Mitchell and would take inspiration from music he loves but I just took a tumble and feel like I am still just barely scratching the surface here. In terms of sound I don't wanna say too much here because I am no expert, not anywhere near, so whatever I would say wouldn't do whatever he's got going on any justice, but Canyon Moon is very clearly a Joni Mitchell fanpiece. And yeah probably not just Joni Mitchell and Home, there's for sure other influences in there too, but she's there alright. You don't need trained ears for that. And then there's that bit where the song's called Canyon Moon. What canyon? I'd place my bets on the Laurel Canyon. Not because I wanna yell about laurels although I always wanna yell about laurels but because of its link with an old lover's hippie music from the Laurel Canyon and Ladies of the Canyon's Joni Mitchell.
Also mentioning the part where he's described being obsessed with Blue as being "in a big Joni hole" (meanwhile I'm in a Harry(&Louis) hole and just getting sucked into the holes they get sucked into someone send help), and of course that tweet which is a lyric form My Old Man from the album Blue:

Canyon Moon most closely resembles Carey you know the song Carey there snuggled between Little Green and Blue because god forbid we leave the poor bluegreeners alone for a second.
When considering possible inspirations for FL it's the entire album here, and take Ladies of the Canyon down with it as well while we're at it, but still I wanna highlight Carey the most:

As for other parallels with this album and Fine Line, there's loads, perhaps California being second closest to Canyon Moon, and also this recurrent mention of café's (and the way it's mentioned [like in relation to a relationship going (not) well and (not) meeting there kinda thing] just makes me think of the beachwood café line). Then in terms of sound I'd say Canyon Moon comes close to Carey (yep again) and Big Yellow Taxi, which Harry covered of course.
And last last I also just wanna point out the part where that 2013 tweet already showed Harry's been obsessed with this Blue album for years and years, so there might be inspired sprinkles extending places I haven't noticed whatsoever and this is just a tiny fraction of whatever's been coming out of the Joni hole for years, who knows maybe Home was already Joni Mitchell inspired.

This kinda became a bigger than anticipated Harry's Fine Line x Joni Mitchell collection, but with emphasis on Canyon Moon x Carey. A lot of bits have been posted before as part of a bigger Canyon Moon analysis but I just wanted to extract the Carey bit because it's been a while and I still just love it so so so much. I'm also gonna go as far as my brain will let me to attack you with as many parallels with her music as possible (it's a lot)
Canyon Moon lyric breakdown x Joni Mitchell (mainly Carey), how Harry has talked about it, and more parallels under the cut:
Someone else can pay close attention and come back to tell me how beautiful this all is and how the sentiments all nicely align and stuff, I'm just gonna go what I do best and dumbdumb point at similar keywords instead and you can see the beauty in the words as we go without my describing it because I do not know how have fun:

We're not starting off strong here, because this is generic af to mention blue skies or even just a color, but if he's really channeling Joni Mitchell's Blue and her being the lady of the Canyon in here, which I think he is, the mention of Blue not just here but in 2 contexts with the "doors yellow broken blue" later on in the song is a nice little nudge right? Blue is full of blue (girl you're going in circles). Most of her songs mention blue, often to describe feeling low.
With these parallels I'm keeping in a lot of surrounding text just because I love it all too much. "blue" (word) lines in Blue (the album):

But besides her quick pauses in conversations, playing her old lover's hippie music pretending not to know the words lol, I just think this is a nod to maybe the people he's met on his journey chasing his inspirations and maybe even more specifically that dulcimer (mentioned in the Rolling Stone bit below) and you know.. all that. If you read the rbit below, it looks like he also brought up Stevie Nicks in regards to this song, and I can't help relate this bit to her as well.

I'm done making links of which half are probably just not it and are effectively drowning out the bits that very much are it, sucks to be them, anyway, now we're going to the part where he just told us Canyon Moon is Carey's baby. You can hear it, you can see it, but he also pretty much said it. He’s described being obsessed with Blue as being “in a big Joni hole”, and talked about it specifically relating to Canyon Moon. Or at least, it's implied in this Rolling Stone interview as its under that heading there(pasting paste all the mentions here but it's a bit repetitive):

Oh boi. OH. BOI OH BOI DO I. I do have quite a "I have connected the dots! you havent connected shit" for Half The World Away! Of course I do.
First, as for a timeline, the song leaked august 25 2020, and according to *the internet* (I believe the YT account that leaked it) it was recorded in 2013 as a demo for Take Me Home, which is a little weird considering Take Me Home was released late 2012. So either it was written and recorded in 2012 instead, or it wasn't for Take Me Home but maybe for Midnight Memories? I'm mostly interested in it being pre- or post-haylor really as I feel like this song and Two Ghosts are about the same deal, and as Two Ghosts has some haylor nudges, surely it making the most sense of it being written during/about that time.
Of all my song-linking parallel-finding messes this one was one of the firsts where I went full

so I'm happy to share that, it's got some tattoos and dancing and narratives and sadness. So this is gonna be "fun":
To barge right in, right before the cut: this song is one big ol parallel to Nickelback's Far Away. And uh...

Yeeehhp. Let's get into it:
Louis got "Far Away" tattoo'ed on him in october 2012. He hasn't said it's the name of a song, I think he implied a couple of times that it's about being far away from home, he has (allegedly, I mean, in writing, so who knows really) said that the tattoo signifies: Though I’m away from home, my family is always in my heart. (ALWAYS IN MY HEART!?) (I have no clue where that comes from but it's in a couple of grain of salt trying to get clicks articles like this one)
But then in 2015 Chad Kroeger of Nickelback 'gave away' that he has it tattooed because because it was "his and his girls song" (here) Now if you go on to read the tags of that post it's divided in 2 clear fronts: either pure hysterical laughter that that tattoo can't possibly be a nickelback lyric nor about "his and his girl" and it's clearly just about missing home OR "elounor tattoo proof". Meanwhile I'm here all by myself cheering in a lonely corner for this song actually being Harry & Louis' song at the time.
It's a really fking sappy sad love song fighting for a love that is incredibly strong but struggling, really right up their alley:

And I don't know if that is setting off any alarmbells for you but it is for me. Half The World Away just seems like a fanpiece of this, really let's go over the parallels, I highlight them below but some of the stupid clear ones:
Far Away / Half The World Away (THE TITLE? REALLY!?)

Mistakes / I messed up
Stop breathing if I don't see you anymore / I'm scared I'll stop breathing
On my knees / ... on my knees.
I need to hear you say: I Love You / and now you rest everything on these three words

And yeah all these things are just common words common themes for songs but it's a bit much innit?
Side-track: There's also this interview moment with some serious couples bickering going on (starts at 0:40) that I'd say is already absolute gold on it's own, but it's interesting in this context. They're asked about their first concert, and Harry says Nickelback. (Harry the one without a nickelback tattoo likes nickelback, at least at the time, noted) Then Louis makes fun of Harry's mention of them here right? (Louis the one with the nickelback tattoo making fun of someone else liking nickelback ok noted) He just comes in again with that fetus Louis idk what to do with my affection so I'm just gonna resort to bullying for no reason again kinda toddler behavior, then when the bickering is done does this thing where he looks up and licks his lips/hides a smile, something we've seen before, oh I don't know, that time Harry talked about his awards being at his moms place and Louis knowing they're actually at his family's home. It's the I know more face, it is, fight me on it. I mean maybe it was in response to Cascada, or just the bickering on its own, or it was because the mention of Nickelback as it's something special to them as he does when they're on the topic of something harry has that is related to him like the times he kept aggressively hammering on harry's Hi tattoo or "what else harry? What else harry? WHAT ELSE HARRY?!" you know, that behavior.

Anyway back to Half The World Away, I think this song is a combination of Harry's true feelings at the time and coating it in some One-Direction-Approved-Narrative. In terms of sadness this is pre-Two Ghosts: Half The World away: "we're starting to lose who we are", Two Ghosts: "we're not who we used to be, we're two ghosts swimming in a glass half empty", and the worst: Ever Since New York: "there's no water in this swimming pool" (ESNY explained here)
I think I should attempt to break down the lyrics, although in this song, egh, I think there's quite some filler, some storytelling narrative, of all his songs I personally find this one... not... that... impressive? Is it OK to say that? I'm sorry? But I'm gonna do my best to properly look at it anyway:
If you’re a good friend You’d always be there when I need it
Harry screaming don't cut me off. The Too Young analysis is too fresh this is hurting me with Too Young's "so I cut you off 'cause I didn't know no better" and it fits way too well with this song, and also the "you" in Half the World Away (starts with an L ends with ouis William Tomlinson) is referred to as a friend although the whole song is making clear they're... not friends (Alexa play Ed Sheeran - Friends)

Far Away parallel but 10x sadder, self-deprecating harry is already fully active here in 2013

Sorry but just some easy songwriting using antithesis, rights and wrongs, messing up and being fine? But also the right vs wrong is used a lot in 1D/solo career songs and for sure some of the times, possibly all of the times it's in the context of , the "but this 'wrong' love feels right?", the "Why is our love 'wrong'?" kinda thing ("is it so wrong that you make me strong"), I mean maybe.
I'm gonna sleep alone tonight
They really really don't like sleeping alone that's clear time and time again.

Things have changed, he can't touch what he sees, Two Ghosts, all that.
The story you’d heard
Ok so throughout the song he's creating this whole story right, I did something and you found out, now I'm trying to make things right and I'm scared we can't come back from this thing I did, which could be that, maybe he literally did mess up something and as a result he's getting cold-shouldered, sure, but it's so smackbanginyourface I feel like it's just for the sake of the concept of the song, makes sense?
As I said before, whenever songwriters plomp down words like "story" in their songs I take it as a hint that it's just that, a story. A narrative, fictional. Especially with One Direction's sneaky lil shits where all this band does is lie, and has the balls to release "Story Of My Life", here with "the story you'd heard" I'm just going HMMMMM once again.
It can just as well be taken literal tho. Bringing this 2013 interview in because it describes a partner hearing a story better than I can, it's literally Harry giving an answer in an interview that fits the story of Half The World Away:
GQ: Do these rumours feel at all intrusive? Harry: Some of them are funny. Some of them are ridiculous. Some of them are annoying. I don't want to be one of those people that complains about the rumours. I never like it when a celebrity goes on Twitter and says, "This isn't true!" It is what it is, I tend not to do that. The only time it gets really annoying is that if you get into a relationship and you get into a place where you really like someone and then things are being written in the papers that affect them and how they see you. Then it can get annoying. (x)
And uh for context, he says this right after being asked if uh "gryles is real" basically, which he denies, as well as confirming he's not bisexual, this interview is wild.

and put this on his feet as the song goes "never gonna dance again, guilty feet have got no rhythm", and here in Half The World Away we got hurty guilty feet walking. Which... could be a Careless Whisper nudge? Half The World Away's storyline kinda matches Careless Whisper's pretty well too. Maybe maybe not? Am I thinking too highly of him again? Is it just a "'cause you know I'd walk a 1000 miles if I could just see you tonight" MAKING MY WAY DOWNTOWN TUTUTHTUTUTUT little feetwalking thing because the person is far away and that's all?

Now don't get me wrong, dancing/chances is really really really damn common in music, just listen to 3 random songs and you'll probably get some of it (Literally right now I'm hearing music playing and it's going "dance fucker dance man he never had a chance" while I'm typing this), but, it's a little excessive right? Not saying this all is definitely related, how would I know, just pointing it out. It just seems that they're drawn to this theme of having a chance to dance. Further enforced by ofcourse the (not) dancing in the Walls and TPWK music videos. They just really really fancy a chance to go ballroom dancing.

I was just going through neglected asks and drafts thinking "I really should do something about all these halfassed songs analyses" then refreshed the asks and you're here going "yep you should" basically thanks for that. And now I'm still neglecting all of it by answering you first don't tell the other anons.

Euh Steal My Girl makes a lil too much sense being from Louis' perspective (and about Harry if that needs to be said lol) doesn't it? I mean this girl is clearly famous right, the whole world is watching her and wants her, and that alone is a pretty big giveaway already. But I'm also thinking of other lyrics that would come later on, like Perfect Now's "everybody's looking at you now" plus calling his partner (not.about.his.sisters.nah.no.nope.nein.) queen plus mentioning those jeans again all in one song (parallels coming out of our ears with Perfect Now, I didn't even include Steal My Girl in that analysis, what an oversight lol), or his' "SHE'S MINE"'ing, the way they seem to keep trying to claim each other as publicly as they can while Harry's supposedly single making people think ~he's available~, it all just fits. But that said it's a pretty generic song (most of 1D's songs are, them bop hit boyband generic poppy shit), but there are some slightly more specific things to grasp onto in there, in just the lyrics, and in some links that can be made.
Steal My Girl analysis under the cut:
So a whole lotta 1D songs are big ol fanpieces of classics right (something I think all of the boys have taken to heart and continued to use in their solo careers, something that loads of artists do, ~music inspiring music~ I'm not saying anything new here) this one's interpolating Journey's Faithfully. And not to go all deep on a boybands music but with Rock Me interpolating Queen's We Will Rock You not only sonically but lyrically as well don't mind me having a little peak at Faithfully's lyrics in hopes to grasp onto a lil bit more, see if there's some inspiration going on there too. And, maybe? Both songs are about I'm yours and you are mine, which wow what an interesting uncommon theme but it's not not the same? Let's just put them next to each other, highlighted a lil bit but you can see the themes are just of "you're the one" plus "sometimes we're seperated" plus "I'm nothing without you" plus Journey's "I'm traveling the whole wide world as I'm being a famous musician" plus Steal My Girl's "everybody in the world wants you because you are famous" lol, just have a read to see if you're seeing something more I guess:

I'm eyeing the "Loving a music man ain't always what it's supposed to be". I don't have much of a point here, not really trying to go anywhere with this, just pointing out the fact that this song interpolates this other song. And that there's logic to the possibility of Faithfully's lyrics being applicable to whatever's behind Steal My Girl to a certain degree. Anyway.

Also if this is about Harry it's interesting he's the one singing the bridge. If he's the "she" it's fitting that he's singing about what she knows. I mean if Louis wrote these lyrics, and they're about Harry, and Harry being in the same band and all that having to sing some of these lines these are the most fitting would be assigned to him right? Am I making sense? I think I am? Either that it's not a blatant assumption of the things "she knows" but actually she saying it: "I know you've never let me down before", or making her having to sing over and over again that I'm never ever let anyone take her from me. It's like... a way of letting "her" know it by making her sing it... hear my heart break @ "you're all I want so much it's hurting"
There's also this double meaning sadness here of them being seperated by others. "That I'm never gonna let another take her love from me now". There's loads of indicators let's put it like that that ~things and stuff tried to break them up and stuff~ let's put it like that. And here he is going nope, not happening again. Nobody can take us away from eachother ever again.
Ok this was a very chaotic analysis but yeap.

Since I said some stuff a bit about this yesterday and got some questions to explain a bit more I thought I'd dedicate a post to it.
SoooOOooo this is about From The Dining Table maybe being not so much autobiographical, not in the literal sense at least although mans gotta resonate with it otherwise why make a whole song about it right, but could be from the perspective of Jack in the movie / short story Brokeback Mountain and I think he might have done the same with TBSL and The Notebook as well.
FTDT (as well as Sweet Creature) sounds like it's coming straightno gay out of the Brokeback Mountain Soundtrack, explained here. Especially the tracks "The Wings" and "Brokeback Mountain 2" (that melody bit around "even my phone misses your call by the way" is just.. a copy). And yep that's the pretty big hint there, that's why I'm connecting these dots and not brushing off the coincidoinkies because you know these lyrics are not THAT specific, but combine it with the similarities in terms of sound too and welp hmmmmm

FTDT lyric breakdown x Brokeback Mountain under the cut:
In the movie, go watch it if you haven't, go read the short story if you haven't, Jack and Ennis fall in love on Brokeback Mountain and uh continue to not know how to quit each other. They both understand it's not safe to attempt to live a life together, Ennis doesn't even consider it but Jack still wants it, tries to talk about it, but it never happens. Most of their life they're silent about their feelings, they just love each other deeply yet continue to live their lives with a wife and kids, but still they can't stay away from each other and for 20 years they continue to have these "fishing trips" together and find ways to see each other. Ennis stays very conflicted about his feelings and doesn't so much own up to them as Jack does. He's a man of very few words (under the pretence of comfortable silence) and it drives Jack insane. They drink a lot, they feel alone and uncool, don't seem to call, but miss each other like crazy...
Some bits from the short story:
“How much is once in a while?” said Jack. “Once in a while ever four fuckin years?”
“No,” said Ennis, forbearing to ask whose fault that was. “I goddam hate it that you’re goin a drive away in the mornin and I’m goin back to work. But if you can’t fix it you got a stand it,” he said. “Shit. I been lookin at people on the street. This happen a other people? What the hell do they do?”
Or Jacks dialogue when he finally breaks about.. everything:
"I'll tell you what. We could have had a good life together. Fucking real good life. Had us a place of our own! But you didn't want it, Ennis. So what we got now is Brokeback Mountain! Everything's built on that! That's all we got, boy. Fucking all. So I hope you know that, if you don't never know the rest! You count the damn few times... that we have been together in nearly 20 years... and you measure the short fucking leash you keep me on... and then you ask me about Mexico and you tell me you'll kill me... for needin' somethin' I don't hardly never get! You have no idea how bad it gets! And I'm not you! I can't make it... on a couple of high-altitude fucks once or twice a year! You are too much for me, Ennis. You son of a whoreson bitch! I wish I knew how to quit you!"
And Ennis' reply:
Then why don't you? Why don't you just let me be, huh? It's because of you, Jack, that I'm like this. I'm nothin'. I'm nowhere.
So then yeah uh FTDT:
Woke up alone in this hotel room,
Played with myself, where were you? Fell back to sleep, I got drunk by noon,
I've never felt less cool
Loneliness, where are you, can't make it on a couple of high-altitude fucks a few times a year, played with myself, but need you, I'm struggling, I'm drinkin, I'm nothing, I'm nowhere. ~it's all of the above~
Some more bits from the short story:
“We herded sheep on Brokeback one summer,” said Ennis. He could hardly speak.
“Well, he said it was his place. I thought he meant to get drunk. Drink whiskey up there. He drank a lot.”
We haven't spoke since you went away,
Comfortable silence is so overrated,
Why won't you ever be the first one to break?
Even my phone misses your call, by the way
This fits Jacks feelings towards Ennis. Ennis doesn't talk. Jack seems to be ok with this silence most of the time, but really does love it a whole lot more when Ennis does talk. This after he tells Jack something personal, Jack lights up and Ennis is like bropal what:
Jack: Man, that's more words than you've spoke in the past two weeks. Ennis: Hell, that's the most I've spoke in a year.
And also as mentioned earlier, Jack is the first one to break. Ennis seems to suffer too, but he never breaks, not in front of Jack before Jack does at least.
I saw your friend that you know from work
He said you feel just fine
"He said you feel just fine" can be a way of saying to just drop it, and in the movie Jack visits their employer that had sent them off to Brokeback Mountain the next year, and asks him about Ennis. To which he doesn't get a satisfying answer whatsoever either (thank @swimmingleo ):
Boss: Well, look what the wind blew in. Jack: I was wonderin' if you was needin' any help this summer. Boss: You're wastin' your time here. Jack: What, you ain't got nothin'? Nothin' up on Brokeback? Boss: I ain't got no work for you. Jack: Ennis Del Mar ain't been around, has he? Boss: You boys sure found a way to make the time pass up there. Twist... you guys wasn't gettin' paid to leave the dogs baby-sit the sheep... while you stemmed the rose. Now get the hell out of my trailer.

In the end the only thing Ennis has of Jack is his old shirt. And discovers this whole time, Jack had his.

Copying a big chunk of the short story again really just go read the whole story instead:
At the north end of the closet a tiny jog in the wall made a slight hiding place and here, stiff with long suspension from a nail, hung a shirt. He lifted it off the nail. Jack’s old shirt from Brokeback days. The dried blood on the sleeve was his own blood, a gushing nosebleed on the last afternoon on the mountain when Jack, in their contortionistic grappling and wrestling, had slammed Ennis’s nose hard with his knee. He had stanched the blood, which was everywhere, all over both of them, with his shirtsleeve, but the stanching hadn’t held, because Ennis had suddenly swung from the deck and laid the ministering angel out in the wild columbine, wings folded. The shirt seemed heavy until he saw there was another shirt inside it, the sleeves carefully worked down inside Jack’s sleeves. It was his own plaid shirt, lost, he’d thought, long ago in some damn laundry, his dirty shirt, the pocket ripped, buttons missing, stolen by Jack and hidden here inside Jack’s own shirt, the pair like two skins, one inside the other, two in one. He pressed his face into the fabric and breathed in slowly through his mouth and nose, hoping for the faintest smoke and mountain sage and salty sweet stink of Jack, but there was no real scent, only the memory of it, the imagined power of Brokeback Mountain of which nothing was left but what he held in his hands.
I see it's written, it's all over his face
Everyone can tell. Nothing is said. But everyone just knows these two had ~a special bond~. Especially Jack's parents when Ennis visits their home in the end and finds that shirt.
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too
Maybe one day you'll call me and tell me that you're sorry too But you, you never do
Maybe one day [...]... maybe one day... I have hope that maybe one day... but in the end. I realise it's not gonna happen -> Jack keeps hoping that maybe one day they'll live their lives together, but Ennis never lets them go there, doesn't see it as an option, he just stays silent. But in the end Jack knows where they stand, or he's always known I guess, he lets it be... The last thing we read from Jack's perspective in the short story:
Later, that dozy embrace solidified in his memory as the single moment of artless, charmed happiness in their separate and difficult lives. Nothing marred it, even the knowledge that Ennis would not then embrace him face to face because he did not want to see or feel that it was Jack he held. And maybe, he thought, they’d never got much farther than that. Let be, let be.
Woke up the girl who looked just like you I almost said your name
They're both with a family, with wives / girlfriends. I don't think there's a girl who looks just like the other, or any mention of almost saying each others names or anything, might have missed it tho I mean the rest checks out aksdjaslk. The closest maybe parallel-ish I could think of is a call between Ennis and Jacks wife:
“Jack used to mention you,” she said. “You’re the fishing buddy or the hunting buddy, I know that. Would have let you know,” she said, “but I wasn’t sure about your name and address. Jack kept most a his friends’ addresses in his head.
So.... yeah....

does not mean the story of Brokeback Mountain and all its details mirror Harry's real life. IF any of this was on purpose even. He clearly loves and has referenced other movies too, like The Notebook and Papillon and those aren't copies of his life either. It just doesn't mean he's Jack in every way and Louis is exactly Ennis and the part where Ennis is showing resistance to their love must mean Louis is doing the same or whatever.

This post was just to show the parallels and you can draw whatever conclusion you want from that, but please just be aware Harry's not in control of every detail in this movie LOL and IF this song really just is a Brokeback Mountain fanpiece doesn't mean he's into exactly how this movie plays out because he's living the exact real life version in every single way. (I fear we're gonna run into these same thoughts once My Policeman is out, thaaat's gonna be fun)

If anything, this whole analysis came to be because the details in this song, in my view, do not fit Harry and Louis' descriptions of their love and dynamics and what they've been through in most of their other songs.

Hi! I was listening to Fine Line and Sunflower comes on. Could you maybe explain why the song is called 'Sunflower, Vol 6' rather than just 'Sunflower'? If you have the explanation that is. I'm kinda new to the fandom and I don't know a lot and your blogs really help! Thank you!
Hi! I don’t have the explanation because he never explained it, but I got my interpretations and I’ll share them! For those not new here I know the thing about stages of sunflowers has been talked about a lot but I just wanted to go over this from scratch and have it weaved into the rest of my interpretation here because this song is amazing and why not talk about this some more sdkasjklk
I think the song describes multiple stages of a relationship, where mid-song it starts over (and he still wants it all the same and the love is still just as pure and ohhhh im emo). I think it’s autobiographical if that needs to be said, and reflects on a time everything was pure crisp new relationship, the first cycle, but then they were not who they used to be, swimming in a glass half empty. That low point isn’t described in Sunflower Vol 6, instead it just skips to a later timepoint and goes “your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody”: they start over, a new cycle.
So then skip to what “Vol. 6″ could mean, and I think that has to do with stage 6 of a sunflower: stages 1-5 are those from seed to fully matured, where at stage 5 you can either cut em and put em in a vase to never get another cycle again from that flower or continue to stage 6 where pollination takes place, the flower starts wilting but seeds are developing, allowing a new cycle, in line with Sunflower Vol 6′s vibeyvibe.
And about that not described low point, I think we can find that description somewhere else, as I think Sunflower vol 6 describes a time pre- and post Two Ghosts [and Two Ghosts in turn describes a time around late 2012] (this bit is copied from another post):
Basically, when he takes this sharp loud inhale about 1,5 mins into the song, that’s where you could just plop down Two Ghosts. Then when Two Ghosts ends we’re coming back to Sunflower at “your flower just died”, the aftermath of their first “things were good and now they’re not” that is Two Ghosts (or: the dying of the sunflower is described in Two Ghosts) but now we’re moving on and the story continues, where he is still wanting to get to know the person, wanting to start over, “I’m still tongue tied”, and so on. This because he links the 2 songs through the lyrics:
Two Ghosts: Tongue-tied like we've never known  Sunflower vol. 6: I was just  / I’m still tongue-tied
Two Ghosts: Tastes so sweet, looks so real, sounds like something that I used to feel,  but I can't touch what I see // Trying to remember what it feels to have a heartbeat  Sunflower vol. 6: Sometimes / Sunflowers just died, keep it sweet in your memory (This one isn’t as clear as the other two, but, it’s sweet, and he remembers now)
Two Ghosts: The fridge light washes this room white, moon dances over your good side (kitchen + dancing + night)  Sunflower vol. 6: Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor, I couldn’t want you any more tonight (hey it’s kitchen + dancing + night!)

I wonder if you can do an analysis of Stockholm Syndrome. I feel like there're two interpretations and I wonder what you think.

The thing with Stockholm Syndrome (and why it took me so long to reply to you <3) is that I'm not convinced on any interpretation. Usually in a song there's some hint or link or reference that I just kinda grasp onto and go from there and if it keeps checking out I'm like ah yeah that's it, but with Stockholm Syndrome it could go either way.
This is gonna be long, I'll do a bit of a breakdown of the interview moment where Harry said it's about a nympho, and the reactions are pure gold. And then of course the lyrics. And then it descends into a little bit of a song parallel chaos because that's just my blog.

Liam's amused! And that's very telling, that the mention of this song amuses him. He then says "Harry" and nods towards him too
Louis? I don't know what's going on in that brain, he's the sas queen this whole interview. He does say something here but I watched it over and over and have no idea what. Judging from his posture and behavior he's being a shady shit towards Ben as that seems to be his general attitude this whole interview.
Zayn is interesting AF too, he points to Harry with 1 hand at the back but I'm not sure what that lil gay wrist doing at the front, maybe it points at him, maybe at someone else? HMM? Either way it's pretty obvious he isn't identifying himself with that song, just like liam's reaction, giving it to Harry instantly.
And no that doesn't mean much, Harry wrote on it and the others didn't so it makes sense, but they all do seem to know what the song's about or at least have some inside joke about it that they're not saying (or, Harry did say it: that "she's a nympho" and that's just the joke)
Onto what's being said, Harry starts off with the obvious :"it's kind of along the lines of what Stockholm Syndrome is" and I think that's important, I think that maybe they either had a song idea and were like "oh so like Stockholm Syndrome" and just built from there, or it originated from maybe being fascinated by that term/condition for whatever reason and then putting that inspiration into songwriting, because most of this song is just a description of what Stockholm Syndrome is: when someone who is held against their will starts to bond with and develop positive feelings for the person holding them there. Harry's words: It's like when you develop a relationship or like feelings towards your kidnapper.

And of course those books are GAAAYYY[this link trashes Harry maybe not click it] because what's a Harry Styles song if it's not a reference to something supergay. Really. Now this can just be a funny coincidoink, just the universe being a silly again, who knows, but, it's possible. Also I believe that 17black tat was already associated with that book before Stockholm Syndrome was written? Not that that means anything. Anyway I haven't read the books so I don't know if that's gonna explain anything here, but I imagine if it's called that it's probably gonna have some similar themes.
So far it all checks out with just it being a no control one right? But reading the lyrics you can interpret it quite a lot darker too, as being controlled, by the label/management/the industry/being stuck in contracts, being stuck in keeping up this public image (see: Sign of the Times).

Holding me hostage + I've been here for days = a description of being kidnapped, helping to write that story of suffering from Stockholm Syndrome so possibly just filler, but then we get details: by a shadow and he doesn't know who that is.
Now I'm sitting here here in the Fine Line era with Do You Know Who You Are and I Don't Know Who She Is and HHMMMM maybe just pipe it down with the parallels
Oh no wait let's get back to the parallels because it's already some No Control vibeyvibes just from what he's said about the song alone, but then we get:

okay no that's fine moving on
That he's asking who is that shadow? which can be his public image: a shadow can mean an reflected image of himself that isn't him, an imitation, something that follows you everywhere you go, and Harry being like who is that, it ain't the real me. But he's been there for days, he's been playing this person for days on end? Or maybe he's stuck hearing about shit about himself? Like can't escape it?

A whisper is a synonym of rumor/gossip/scandal/story, again fitting that whole image idea I got going on here.

They entered the chat, who is they? I mean the idea of the song is that he's being kidnapped right, so maybe this is just the storyline, but it relates to the next line:

Oh but now there's a You. Who is the you? It seems to imply it's the shadow/whisper as they're all holding him in places, but he knows this "you", while he questions who the shadow/whisper is. So it could be that it shifts here and "you" is someonelouis else and we're just building up to some other meaning chorus, because welp...

Alternate interpretation: the "Oh baby" and the "fell for you" and such are just added bits to make the song seem more fun, create this interpretation of a nympho, but its original meaning is dark and you know the label / management / contracts and such.
Also always consider why not both.

Now there's a man and "he"!? Is this another perspective? And it's Louis' bit? D... id.... did he have Louis sing a bit from another perspective? Because well what else is it, it suddenly flips. The whole song is me me me I'm being held and things are being done to me me me and then suddenly whambam there's a "man" doing things to a "you"? (and then in the next line there's no longer the "I" being held but the "he" is) God the brainpayne.
...Listen I wanted to find parallels here to explain these lines but all these 1D songs are talking about holding hands and eyes. I... pff... I got nothing. I don't understand, I don't understand, this song What you do to me when you hold his hand
Let's still try it tho, he goes "who is this man talking about your eyes" so let's see who is talking about eyes, and welp the first one I notice:

That duality of you got my devotion but man I can hate you sometimes (Fine Line) is quite a persistent theme in his lyrics, this could be one of it.

So in summary: He's just with a person he wants to be with, and holding him (and also it's kinky) but they will be coming to get him away from that person soon, and/or there's a version of him that he doesn't really recognize all that much and he's stuck there. Oh and also a perspective shift when Louis sings.

The big oh shi CoInCiDeNcE is in HS1. Both Sweet Creature and From The Dining Table ~could very well be~ inspired by / a nod to / fanpieces of the Brokeback Mountain soundtrack. There's SC x "Snow" as well as FTDT x "Brokeback Mountain 2" + "The Wings". It's loud. Really loud. Explained in detail here
Then I (this is just me really) got a bit of a theory that FTDT is inspired by Brokeback Mountain beyond just the soundtrack, that it's (partially) written from the character's perspective (but in turn because Harry resonates with it, I think it's both, but the details in there might be nods to the things happening in the movie instead). This is about One Direction.
Of course. Soooo I guess I just made a masterpost of times not saying things showed up in their lyrics. Not just 1D, but all of their solo work as well. It's a lot. I don't know if it's really uncalled for or super called for, you know to post this now, on (close to) their 11 year anniversary and all that, but it's been in my drafts for a while and it seems to be wtf are they, all this band does is lie central today so I'm just gonna release it. Here you have it. I'm sorry.
It’s loooaaaads of Zayn (but I mean he has the most lyrics too) but they’re all at it a bunch. If you're into song parallels / reoccurring themes / patterns as much as I am this is going to be gold, if not then its just a whole bunch of ~lines from songs and more songs~.
Anyway what pushed me to do this in general is how well it highlights they were and remain silent. On what exactly I can't tell you and that's the whole point, they apparently can't either. Here’s a fun gif while we cry over having way too many questions:

Hiii, I read your Louis 28 songs lining up with H’s albums post a while ago - honestly that boy is ridiculous I couldn’t stop laughing - and with the sunflower vol 6 comparison, the first line of the equivalent song ‘come away from the window’ immediately made me think of flowers in the window by travis. There’s this Twitter thread about the 2 songs. Don’t know if it really links any further than just the title but thought I’d put it out there. Have a lovely day!!
Okay BUCKLE UP. I too realised this a while back and have wanted to add that to the post since but whenever I try to edit that monster, tumblr’s just like I can’t hear you lalalala and just...doesn’t save the edit. Anyways! I’m gonna use this ask to talk about this, about ALL THIS (yeah this is why it took me so long to answer this ask, sorry anon) because Oh Boi have I wanted to talk about this. 
First up, little recap of that twitter thread: Harry really loves the song Travis - Flowers in the window. He has called it his favorite song in 2011 on twitter, again in a 2012 interview, put it on his top 10 all time songs mixtape in 2016, and in 2018 named this song when asked what he’d want played at his funeral.

The linked twitter thread goes on to find parallels between this song to a bunch of 1D/Harry songs, but I just want to focus on Sunflower vol. 6, because this song seems to be very very very inspired by Flowers in the Window. Both songs describe going through different stages (it’s been ages come so far fro-) with someone, each chorus using the same words and buildup but slightly altered to change its meaning, placing them further down into a timeline, later timepoints in a relationship. It’s as if inbetween verse and chorus time passes where stuff happens but that stuff isn’t included in the song, just the feelings and how they slightly change and grow over time, always still including the same amount of love. They’re both really cute lovesongs that compare their love/loved one with flowers and stages of growth. Besides that there are really obvious links in terms of lyrics too, the most obvious being “plant new seeds and watch them grow” vs “plant new seeds in the melody”, but also “there’s no reason to feel bad” vs “I don’t wanna make you feel bad”. Both lyrics with the mentioned lyrics highlighted (Sorry it’s ugly):

(Am I getting to the point? Not before sidetracking 28 more times:) I have a lot more to say about Sunflower vol. 6. The gallery lyrics for one!? (not mine but I screamed in the tags idk does that count)

I’m also entirely convinced it’s placed both before and after Two Ghosts. Basically, when he takes this sharp loud inhale about 1,5 mins into the song, that’s where you could just plop down Two Ghosts. (you could say, he’s about to jump into the water, about to swim in the glass half-empty, I know now I’m just going too far but eh), then when Two Ghosts ends we’re coming back to Sunflower at “your flower just died”, the aftermath of their first “things were good and now they’re not” that is Two Ghosts, (or: the dying of the sunflower is described in Two Ghosts) but now we’re moving on and the story continues, where he is still wanting to get to know the person, wanting to start over, “I’m still tongue tied”, and so on. Lemme just stop rambling and actually convince you, really, because he links the 2 songs through the lyrics:
Two Ghosts: Tongue-tied like we've never known Sunflower vol. 6: I was just  / I’m still tongue-tied
Two Ghosts: Tastes so sweet, looks so real, sounds like something that I used to feel,  but I can't touch what I see // Trying to remember what it feels to have a heartbeat Sunflower vol. 6: Sometimes / Sunflowers just died, keep it sweet in your memory (This one isn’t as clear as the other two, but, it’s sweet, and he remembers now)
Two Ghosts: The fridge light washes this room white, moon dances over your good side (kitchen + dancing + night) Sunflower vol. 6: Kiss in the kitchen like it's a dance floor, I couldn’t want you any more tonight (hey it’s kitchen + dancing + night!)
Side-side-sidetrack: To make matters worse, I also think Two Ghosts was a great attempt at weaving lyrics in such a way that the majority of it can be applied to both the beard (or PR stunt counterpart, Taylor in this case) as well as the real deal (Mr haha 28 haha 369 haha you read into things lololol I hate him), and that this kitchen dancing in the night thing was initially a nudge to miss Swift, as in All Too Well she sings:
Cause there we are again in the middle of the night,  We're dancing 'round the kitchen in the refrigerator light
All Too Well being on the album Red, the album the whole Haylor stunt was for from her side, written before she knew H, was supposed to be about Jake, just think about the logic of H taking that lyric and using it to describe their relationship and how idiotically strange that would be if it wasn’t a stunt. And there are more nudges like it, but, I don’t think I should sidetrack even further. Let’s just quickly pause and try to consider Sunflower being about Camille and Two Ghosts about Taylor and then H using the same words and descriptions for each relationship that were 7 years apart while his albums clearly show he absolutely doesn’t lack the ability to songwrite and... use new words... and describe things... like with range and stuff... just sayin....

TLDR: these songs link on purpose and here is a 28-boop-hint why. Now we can go back to Flowers in the Window vs Sunflower Vol 6 and what the hell it has to do with Louis’ playlist.
In case someone bumps into this without reading the longass deranged puzzle of Louis’ 28 songs playlist possibly hiding Fine Line (But if you do, I’m so sorry for everything, you’ll be here forever, I’m so sorry), a brief summary:

Ok no a serious summary: in 2019 Louis made a public playlist called “28 Songs”, that included, you guessed it, 28 songs. In the initial version uploaded in february @sexatoxbridge high fived god with the reach that the lil shit lined up the start of the playlist to HS1 (here, my addition here)
Louis later on changed up the songs a couple of times throughout the year, putting emphasis on “a fresh set of bangers” on the last update in October (the day before announcing Walls, and Fine Line was announced less than 2 weeks after that)

And when I started listening to this playlist late to the party after knowing Fine Line pretty well, I was like mfer did done it again. The first 3 songs seemed to line up with Fine Line, and the remaining fit as well, but just, scrambled. I did make a case for it being lined up with a draft version of the Fine Line album, but now thinking about it (the whole thing being a massive reach, but within a reach that one really took off well into space), it makes more sense that he just hussled them, I mean, I kinda doubt H wouldn’t be set on an album order less than 2 weeks before announcing it? Either way, I was able to find a buddy for each song a little all too well, with at first sight Sunflower vol. 6 pairing up with Ten Tonnes - Lucy being the weakest link, other than “under the sun, I’m calling where you belong” = a sunflower? Not “resolving” that shit haunted me for way too long and I attempted to crack it (copy-paste from the 28 songs post:) 
Sunflower vol 6 tells a story of starting over as it first goes through wanting to be close to someone, then having them, but then “your flowers just died, plant new seeds in the melody” (+ Stage 6 of sunflowers starts a new cycle/pollination). In Lucy, someone is two steps away from the singer, in a place they left their faith/got burned (H: your flowers just died), and the singer is telling them to not stay in that place, pick their faith back up (H: plant new seeds in the melody) and come back into his arms (H: let me inside, I wanna get to know you).
And I thought I had found peace. Wrong. Fast forward

So the above crack-attempt still stands, as all 3 songs share this theme, but in terms of lyrics there isn’t much overlap between Lucy and Sunflower vol. 6.

It.... it just goes on like that. I tried to color code things that seemed similar and welp mostly failed I think because the whole thing is just very similar. It starts off describing cold, with someone holding someone else in the past, but not now, basically wanting warmth back, the you/Lucy being in a place holding onto negative feelings (that the singer seems to know well or is wise about) over things that happened in time periods that aren’t described in the song itsself, telling the you/person that there’s time, but please don’t be long, there is time to change and grow into something better, with Lucy at a timepoint of being a bit further removed from the singer, as compared to Flowers in the Window (actually that part fits better with Sunflower vol. 6). If you told me Travis and Lucy are in a relationship I mean look at this shit...

TLDR: Louis lined up Walls to Lights Up. Watch from the 01:56 timestamp as shown in the middle of the video.
Playing around lining up some videos I noticed that not just Walls x TPWK share a visual at the 1:40 timestamp but that Lights Up was first to do this. 
But then it gets better. As I was watching the rest of the video I realised Louis William Gayvincicode Tomlinson-Styles pretty much lined up the whole sequence… And people think they don’t micro-manage their music videos. Anygays, I thought I’d spend some time showing you exactly what I was seeing. There are more parallels than just the obvious standing in the middle of the crowd visuals, but since they line up so well I added little confused Nialls everytime that imagery shows up in either. The actual timestamp of the music videos is in the middle of the vid, but I cut everything before he walks through the door as there aren’t many parallels there. Sorry if that’s confusing.
If the copy of a copy of a copy at 1:40 as shown in the middle of the vid didn’t do it for you I guarantee from 1:56 you’ll never be the same again.

It’s easy to see why this is H’s favorite song, I mean how can you not love Breathe. It's a masterpiece. I kinda don't even wanna touch it and let it speak for itsself. I interpret Breathe as well, life. And to choose your path carefully. It starts with a heartbeat+baby crying / rollercoaster ride, which, well, both symbolize (the start of) life. The first verse being about enjoying life while you're young that bleeds into the second verse, getting older, the 3rd verse could be interpreted as the grind, the last verse issuing that warning if you dont ride the tide, if you don't find that balance, when the high's too high (and the low's too low) I guess, that's just gonna be it for you.
I don't think I need to relate that to H, it relates to everybody. For us regular boring peoples it can easily be interpreted as finding that balance to enjoy life and not waste it away working, the way society tells you is the standard, while for artists that applies as well, but also they're living the very high highs and some lose themselves in it, "race towards an early grave". I’m sure there are also parallels between Breathe and Harry’s lyrics, but I mean both artists are ~~nice and vague~~, so I don’t think it will be easy to spot them (I tried briefly and didn’t see much but I might be blind)(but don't get me started on Wish You Were Here)  
Also, overlapping themes with Harry's work (I think I found a way to kinda go over these songs):

Again I just LOVE these songs, I'm gonna find a quiet place to settle and it's gonna be beautiful. This song is also doing this lil trick of changing single words in a line to change the meaning as you get to later verses (Looking for a home -> living in a home, I want a sheep -> I got a sheep), taking the listener along on a trip through time, just with tiny tiny lyric changes (Flowers in the window / Sunflower vol 6 do this too).

Which yep not painful at all no. I really like the “If only I could fly” vs “If I could fly” + “[for your eyes] only”.
Again like all my posts I have to emphasize when pointing out song parallels I’m not saying that the song that came later is definitely intentionally is purposefully inspired by the other one, effectively made out of bits and pieces of the other one. I don’t know that. You don’t know that. Who knows? Is Olivia even a person? Was it ever a family show (it wasn’t)? I’m just saying, it’s possible that the artist, H in this case, took inspiration from it as he has said so himself he writes music as a fan of music and this is in his top 10 songs of all time. So in this case specifically, it’s maybe not thaaat crazy to think that If I Could Fly is effectively a Blaze Foley fanpiece? (and that that doesn’t invalidate any interpretation of what IICF meant to H, that that’s what he felt at the time of writing it either) I mean ... look at it... That shit looks *inspired*.
