This beautiful pup was the first of two commissions for my lovely friend @pammarie-gx! Thank you so much for the commission, it was a delight to draw!!

Merry Christmas! This was a painting I did for an art exchange secret Santa, and my prompt was "Critter Christmas".
I had fun working on it, though I was actually going with a completely different idea first! This was inspired by Beatrix potter, and also by the recent Christmas painting by @heikala .

When it all goes wrong. Again.
So, you know how I was painting a little portrait on a wee square wooden panel? Remember when I said it would all work out?
Well...
In my haste to finish it (I had intended to give it as a raffle prize at my last burlesque showcase), I messed up the values and no matter how much I tried, I just could not fix it.
So I started again.
This is as far as I've gotten.
I haven't actually started painting any of it yet. I am, as of right now, looking after a couple of canine critters who won't let me do anything by myself so I haven't been able to start anything.
I'm also loaded with a 'lovely' autumn head cold. Yep, my allergy season is finally over (not counting the random sh*t I'm allergic to that isn't pollen - and I'm basically allergic to all pollen. All of it.) my immune system throws an absolute fit and decides that now is an excellent time to be ill. Yay.
I feel dreadful.
All is not entirely lost, though. I do have some of my sketchbooks with me and a limited amount of art supplies (annoyingly, I don't have any oil pastels or soft pastels or coloured pencils with me) - but this will force me to think outside the box a little and use what I have as best as I can. Mostly, I have paint (acrylic, watercolour, and some pan gouache) but with a canine critter that is basically a fluffy demon (he's friendly and all, he's just very very excitable and has far too much energy than I can handle in my weakened state.)
I don't know if I've mentioned this before, but I was (finally) diagnosed with ADHD a little over a year ago. As you can imagine, if you know anything about ADHD that is, sitting still and doing nothing but resting and trying to get better is not something I do well or willingly.
I am so going to lose my mind! Please send help and tomato soup.

trans kids we love you, forever and ever!
[ID copied from alt text: Marker art of an adult emperor penguin looking down at it's fuzzy baby. The chick has been coloured in pink, blue, and white, the colours of the trans pride flag, and looks up at the adult. Both look happy. Text reads "I will always love you, no matter what (heart symbol). The background is plain white, and the artist's signature reads @ watercolour critters. End ID.]
