Marvel: War of Heroes Intro Guide

If you have an addiction for smartphone games like I do, you probably have your preferred style of game and possibly like me, you never thought you’d find yourself loving a virtual card game.

Marvel: War of Heroes is a Magic style game where you collect cards, build decks, and battle other players. In the style of MMO’s, you can also join an alliance and take part in events. The exciting part? Every card is a Marvel superhero and features a small description about that character along with their stats and abilities. This is kind of fun to expand your Marvel knowledge and the artwork is pretty badass.

The obvious down side to the game, like every other smartphone game, is that everything you do is dependent on energy or attack power. So, you can either spend REAL money to recharge once you’ve used it all or you’ll spend a lot of time waiting for your shit to regenerate. Sometimes there are other things you can do, such as boosting or fusing cards to kill time while you wait. This is how you enhance your cards, by using lesser cards to boost better ones (you lose the booster card after this, it in effect becomes part of your better card) and to fuse two of the same card to create its advanced form.

There are different rarities of cards including common, uncommon, rare (bronze), special rare (silver), super special rare (gold), ultimate rare, and legendary. With only a few exceptions, each card features a base version and a fused version where two base versions combined create the final fused version (a + denotes a fused card in the game). Referral cards have more than one evolution but this is unusual (multiple +++ are used in this case).

It can be very much a numbers game if you want to play that intensely. Each card features a level number, mastery number, attack power, defense power, ability, ability level, and usage percentage. That’s a lot of shit to factor in. There are 3 types of cards as well – Tactics, Bruisers, and Speeds. This is the similar to elements in Magic and it’s usually better to focus in one group when creating a deck.

Here are some more important tips to remember if you’re new to the game:

With Special Rare (SR) base cards and above, completely level and and master them before fusing them. This makes them “proper” versus “improper”, which means they feature the maximum attack and defense power possible. This becomes important when battling or trading to other players.

During special Raid Events when your alliance works together to battle bosses, make sure to SAVE YOUR RDS BARS until about halfway through the event. Enraged Bosses are revealed at this point, which give you 3 times the raid rating you would have otherwise received. This is where you want to focus your power.

Often as a reward you’ll receive an Ultimate Card Pack Ticket. SAVE ULTIMATE CARD PACK TICKETS until raider cards are more likely to drop. Raider cards are extremely helpful and valuable during Raid events. It can be really hard not to spend the sometimes but trust me, it’s not worth the excitement when you get shitty cards.

If you really like the game and hope to advance, considering using a chat app like Line to communicate with your alliance. Everyone can easily help each other out or coordinate for events. This also greatly helps with trading, which becomes a huge part of the game later on (especially if you can’t spend money on it). I’ve also found Twitter to be a valuable resource, especially with focused pages popping up such as @Marvel_WoH. OH. You’ll definitely want to visit the Marvel Wikia Page.

Always keep the max amount of team members. Each team member gives you an additional 5 attribute points that you can put into either Attack, Defense, or Energy. When starting out it’s best to level evenly, then kind of specialize how you see fit.
