Walker Episode Bracket
and the 1x18 "Drive" is broken by 2x06 "Douglas Fir"! How will it fare against our next contender, 2x07 "Where Do We Go From Here?" Our first episode without Micki gives us Trey wondering what his next move is, Stella debating her future, and Cordell and Liam sorting out their issues. We also get to see Bret for the last time as his relationship with Liam unofficially comes to an end, along with some silly drunk!Liam antics.

gentleman jack 2x06 thoughts
This episode was absolutely one of the most emotional episodes for me, and was perhaps the first episode to move me to so many tears. It left me feeling quite floored. The discussion, particularly, about Ann wanting children felt so painfully relatable to me, in a way that felt so surreal to be witnessing on screen. This season, and 2x06 really highlighted this, has been so wonderful at portraying the difficult sides of living as a lesbian couple. Not only is it representative of the time period, but the discussion of children, family, money, jealousy, messy romantic history, dealing with homophobia, and everything in between, is still relatable to the lesbian audience of today.
My favourite moments under the cut:
Tumblr media
I have mentioned multiple times on multiple different platforms how much I adore Sally Wainwright’s dialogue in all of her shows, and it absolutely extends to Gentleman Jack because this scene was perfect from start to finish. Everything about it felt extremely authentic, just like it could be any argument between any lesbian couple, regardless of time period. The comments about men made me laugh, Ann broke my heart, Anne infuriated me and made me laugh at the same time, and it was so, so satisfying to see Ann take a stand, speak up, and call her wife on her bullshit.
Tumblr media
Her perfectly executed “I hate that! That’s what men say!” when Anne tried to apologise in that ridiculously dismissive way she always does had me wanting to cheer for her!

I absolutely loved that they called back to this scene from season 1. It really was such an important scene for Ann, when she laughed when Mrs Priestley walked in on them, and it showed so much courage and bravery and confidence in who she is. Not to mention the joy she had above all else, in knowing she wanted Anne, and she didn’t care, in that moment, what people thought. Anne acknowledging this and using it to comfort Ann was well-needed and done beautifully. “I think, in that moment, I saw for the first time the real you. Who is as brave as anyone.” Ann Walker is incredibly brave ❤️

Lastly, the scene that absolutely broke me like nothing else, was the closing scene. I didn’t expect this show to tackle the difficulty of wanting children when you’re a lesbian. I didn’t expect them to so explicitly lay it out for the audience, that it’s something a woman living in the 19th century could want. I love that they represented Ann’s confusion at the complexity of her own desires. I love that they also represented Anne’s frustration and anger, because she is expecting to be rejected once again. They’re arguing, because it’s an impossibly difficult topic, and yes, Ann didn’t deserve to be shouted at, but once again I can absolutely see both sides. Sally is unbelievably good at making me empathise with both of them, even when I don’t agree with some of Anne’s decisions or actions a lot of the time. After the last few episodes, I have been extremely angry at Anne, but I really did feel for her after the discussion about Eliza Raine and this conversation about children. But mostly, I just felt so much empathy and resonance with Ann, for the complicated feelings about marriage and motherhood, and not quite knowing how to articulate them. It was absolutely wonderful, if overwhelming, to see this represented on screen in a way I definitely haven’t seen before.

Jess Watches // Tues 9 Apr // Day 195 Synopses & Favourite Scenes & Poll
The Newsreader (with mum) 2x06 Fireworks (s2 Finale)
It's the biggest television event of the decade - Australia Day 1988, featuring a full re-enactment of the first fleet sailing into Sydney Harbour, ceremonies with Prince Charles and Princess Diana, and one of the biggest protests ever seen in Australia.
Oh, Dale, what have you become! How his face changes between on and off camera. Him now fully leaning into the celebrity persona and pushing away anyone close to him. I hope Helen thrives in the US away from all the interpersonal drama. And was the implications that she fucked Lindsay to get ahead, or maybe that she didn't, and that's why he seems so hell-bent on destroying her. Also, Noelene, please don't make yourself small for Robbo. Dream big. I believe in you!
Loudermilk (with mum) 1x10 Bourbon Street (s1 Finale)
Loudermilk returns to Seattle and makes a huge decision that affects not only his life, but the lives of everyone in his world as well.
So his ex-wife preferred him a drunken mess. Wow. He definitely doesn't need someone like that in his life anymore. But I did appreciate they hired an actual amputee to play her. And I like Ben's actor but I became to hate his character. Hopefully he'll come around in s2 and make amends.
Percy Jackson: The Making of A Hero's Journey
Being a demigod isn't easy. Go behind-the-scenes with Walker, Leah, Aryan on their epic quest.
Finally remembered to watch this. I didn't realize how much of the stunts Walker actually did himself. And all the fight rehearsals and water training looked so cool. Literally living his best life. It looked knackering though so I hope he got to rest and sleep loads after. And I loved how even with all the cgi they understood that it works best with actual sets and props. The budget must've been huge.
Amphibia 1x06 Sprig vs. Hop Pop / Girl Time
Angry with how the Plantar farm is being run, Sprig decides to overthrow Hop Pop. / Anne decides to give Polly some long-overdue girl time, whether Polly wants it or not.
I am Polly: will fight a clown, often has digestive strife, will ride on a koi fish like a galloping horse, is not amused by dressing 'girly', *loud burp*, likes when people admit you were right and they were wrong.

Walker Episode Bracket
Our last poll ended in a tie between 1x18 and 2x05 so they both move on to battle the next contender: 2x06 "Douglas Fir". This intense midseason finale episode features further drama between the Walker brothers, some peace between the youngest Walkers and Davidsons, and Micki leaving the rangers and Austin to find herself.
