Drunk Dee Dramatics for anon
Trouble wasn't exactly fond of their old home. Musty smell, dry winds, shifty strangers and cruel blades. But the bars were nice. Stiff drinks and interesting strangers. That is, when their cousin wasn't leading a particularly brash mission with her particularly brash girlfriend and their particularly brash friend.
But no matter.
They enjoyed watching Catra beat up goons from over their drink, which they'd set on the bar, currently distracted. She had jumped off of her perch on Adora's shoulder, slashing her claws across a reptilian's muddy-brown face. They chuckled to themself, wondering if they could draw her attention over to them.
"Another?" The bartender asked, face hidden by a low hood.
"If you please," they said, annoyed to be interrupted in their daily Catra watching. They listened to the clink of glass and the splash of liquid, sound bringing up old memories that they'd prefer to stay buried. There was the thump of their glass hitting the table, golden liquid swirling before their eyes.
They lifted the drink to their lips, liquid burning as they swallowed. Strange, the last glass hadn't burned like that. Or the one before it. Or the one before that. Or the one before that one.
"Wah!"
Glimmer crashed into the bar, stumbling away from her attackers. She shot them a poisonous look; "get off your ass, and help!"
Trouble went to contradict their dear cousin, to tell her that they were currently doing something of vast importance. They opened their mouth and then closed it quickly, feeling a tickle in the back of their throat. Glimmer regarded them strangely, before rejoining her fight.
Huh.
Without a second thought, they chugged the rest of their drink, feeling it burn in their stomach. "'Nother."
"Yes, Mx. Trouble."
That's weird. They know my name. Cogs turned in their head, trying to compute how the stranger knew them by name.
Wow.
They must come to my shows. I must be famous. The thought made them grin, before their head collapsed on top of the bar with a soft thump, sounds of brawling fading.
——
"Trouble. Trouble!" They felt warm hands on their face, slapping them awake gently. With too much difficulty, Trouble pried their eyes open, vision bleary. Three faces were staring down at them, all blurred.
"Did you kill them?!" Adora demanded, shooting Catra a shocked glare.
"No! What the fuck are you on about?!"
Trouble felt as if their head was underwater, every word warbled. "Kitten," the three girls stopped their bickering instantly, looking down at them in surprise.
Glimmer had gotten too close, peering down at them, scrutinising. They slapped their hand into her face, turning to Catra. "You've got the most beautiful eyesssss," they slurred, grunting as she dropped their head.
"Well, they seem to be ok," Adora chuckled, pulling Glimmer away carefully.
Trouble did feel ok. Better than ok, actually. The sky outside the window was a lovely shade of yellow, Bright Moon's castle a warm red. They rolled away from the girls, across the cold floor.
"Ooh!" They stood up shakily, staggering across the room. "Oh, yes! It's so last season!" They laughed, listening to the wall's teasing words. "Purple isn't in style anymore, dear cousin!"
"It sure isn't!" The wall laughed, voice deep and throaty. "Your taste is so much better!"
Trouble giggled and twirled their hair, collapsing against the wall. "You know me so well."
"Are you seducing my bedroom?" Glimmer asked, face screwed up in disbelief. Adora was leaning against her shoulder, giggling into her hair. Catra was sighing, the beginning of a smile forming on her face.
"Mind your own!" Trouble whined, running a hand down the scarred stone. "We're really hitting it off." They bonked their head against the wall, enjoying the cold comfort it provided. “Oh, Eunice. You’re my true friend.”
Catra was cackling loudly, clutching her sides. Something in Trouble’s chest warmed at the sight, as they leaned against the wall once more.
“Ooh!” Eunice mused. “Looks like someone’s got—“
“Fuck!” Trouble yelled, feeling a stab of pain at the base of their back. Glimmer was standing behind them, something long and green wrapped around her hand. “Get up, dumbass.”
“You can’t make me!”
They hissed as she yanked the green thing again, unsure as to why it hurt them. And then Trouble gasped, scurrying away from her grip. “What’s that?!”
“What’s what?” Adora asked, peering over her annoyed girlfriend’s shoulder.
Idiot. They gestured to the thing attached to their back, laying on the floor in front of them. It was scaly and light green, matching the color of their skin. Huh. Must be Bow’s or something, they thought.
“That’s your tail,” Glimmer said, voice mimicking that of a parent talking to a particularly disobedient child. “Don’t tell me you forgot you had a tail.”
Trouble gasped, slamming their head against the wall, movement making Adora cringe. “I’ve got a tail?!” They whirled around to face the wall. “Did you know of this, Eunice?!”
“I’m just as surprised as you are, buddy.”
“Who’s Eunice?” Catra asked, kneeling beside them. Her tail was swishing side to side, their eyes following its every move. Without a warning they grabbed it, pulling it hard. Catra yowled and shoved them, jumping away.
“There’s a snake on your suit!” Trouble called after her.
“That’s her tail dimwit,” Glimmer sighed, grabbing their arm. The pair vanished in a flurry of sparkles, sudden teleportation making Trouble’s head spin. And suddenly they were above the ground, sitting in Glimmer’s bed. The pink-haired girl had returned to solid ground, expression pensive, deep in thought. She looks like a toad, they thought with glee.
“What caused this?” She asked, gaze flicking around the room. There was a shrug from Adora, who was mimicking her girlfriend’s silent brainstorming.
“Maybe they drank too much,” Catra said with a flick of her wrist. She was prowling under the bed, wary.
“That’s it!” Glimmer burst out, causing her companions to jump. “Adora! Remember when your brain got fried in the Kingdom of Snows? When you were corrupted?”
The blonde frowned. “I wasn’t this weird.”
“Yes you were,” her girlfriend countered.
“No I wasn’t!”
“Can you turn into She-Ra and try to fix them?”
Trouble gasped suddenly, interrupting the conversation below. “Adora is She-Ra?!” The thought made their head spin in even dizzier circles than before. They pounded their fists against they skull to stop the constant whirling, ignoring Catra’s protests.
“It’s worth a try.”
Trouble interrupted once more with a loud yawn. “I’m gonna take a nap.”
“Not in my bed you’re not.”
“G’night,” they flopped like a limp rag-doll upon the soft sheets, kicking Glimmer’s plushies over the side. They were snoring within minutes, oblivious to the stomps or She-Ra down below.
——
Trouble’s head was pounding like a drum, killer migraine brewing. It was warm, sheets soft against them. Where were they again? They reached across the mattress, feeling something soft and fluffy around their wrist.
“Oh good. They’re awake,” Adora said, voice far away.
Trouble squinted, trying to open their eyes. The three girls were sitting clustered around them, their head laying in Catra’s lap. “You doing ok?” She asked, expression worried.
“Better now that you’re here~” they purred.
She rolled them away, expression morphing into annoyance. “Great job, Adora.”
The other girl chuckled awkwardly, scratching the back of her neck.
Trouble scowled, wanting the spotlight back on them. “Hello! What happened to me?”
“I’m guessing someone put something in your drink,” Glimmer said, disapproval written on her face. “You were acting like Adora when she was corrupted.”
They gasped in horror, hand moving to their face. “Oh, god no!” They reached over and shook Glimmer’s arm. “Tell it to me straight, I beg of you! Will I ever act again?”
“Unfortunately, dumbass.”
Trouble nodded slowly, satisfied with that answer. Without another word, they shifted back under the sheets, making themself comfortable. “Well, if all of you are done making a fuss, I’m going back to sleep.”
