#VulnerableAnimalsWeek2021 Day 3 - Europe/Breeze Today I chose to draw the European Bison! Large bovines are some of my favourite animals and I remember being just blown away when I first saw one at a zoo as a kid because I wasn't aware we had such big animals in Europe.
Thanks to the work of many organisations, zoos and breeding centres, scientists and individuals, the bison was rescued from extinction. However, the species is still in great danger, and is listed as ‘near threatened’ on the IUCN Red List. The main problem is that too few areas across Europe are open to receiving bison for reintroduction, which is often due to misconceptions about the animal. The European Bison is a keystone species that plays an important role in European landscapes.

Day 2 of #vulnerableanimalsweek2021 ! I am super proud of this one, video step by step on the second slide! Asia/Mist as shown by the Snow Leopard 🐆❄️: Snow Leopards habitat spans across 12 countries in Central and Southern Asia. According to the WWF and IUCN they are a vulnerable species with their population of 2000-3000 in decline. Hunting, urban development, agriculture and climate change are some of the main threats to this cat? One thing I didn’t know about this cat that it is actually closer related to tigers than leopards. Pleasd check out the hashtag and the art of the hosts

We got to day 4 of #vulnerableanimalsweek. Today’s theme is midnight and reflection in Australia and so my obvious choice for me was the kakapo, also known as the Owl Parrot.
They are nice fellows, the biggest parrots in the world. They cannot fly, but they walk a lot. The funniest thing about them is, during mating, they court the female with a song and dance in a group. Really amazing 🤩
Unfortunately there are really few of this animal and they need serious help. Please check out this link > https://www.doc.govt.nz/our-work/kakapo-recovery/
See you tomorrow 😘

Participating #VulnerableAnimalsWeek art event showcasing endangered animal species across the globe. My day one prompt was Africa/dusty which made me instantly think of stardust and fine desert sand. I ended up painting the super elusive Saharan Cheetah!

Last day of this challenge 🥲, our #vulnerableanimalsweek is coming to an end for this year ♥️
The last continent it’s Antarctica and I chose the albatross. I always liked this animal since we introduced it at school in the poem by Boudelaire, the king of the sky that became goofy walking. Unfortunately they are in need of help, I’ll leave the link for you as usual > https://www.worldwildlife.org/magazine/issues/fall-2014/articles/protecting-albatross-from-fishing-lines

The Albatross, By Charles Baudelaire
Often, to amuse themselves the men of the crew
Lay hold of the albatross, vast birds of the seas—
Who follow, sluggish companions of the voyage,
The ship gliding on the bitter gulfs.
Hardly have they placed them on the planks,
Than these kings of the azure, clumsy and shameful,
Let, piteously, their great wings in white,
Like oars, drag at their sides.
This winged traveler, how he is awkward and weak!
He, lately so handsome, how comic he is and uncomely!
Someone bothers his beak with a short pipe,
Another imitates, limping, the ill thing that flew!
The poet resembles the prince of the clouds
Who is friendly to the tempest and laughs at the bowman;
Banished to ground in the midst of hootings,
His wings, those of a giant, hinder him from walking.

Day 3 of #vulnerableanimalsweek today! The theme is breezy and noise in Europe, so I decided to choose the honeybees as a representative of today’s theme.
I love bees, I love the so much that my friend gave me for Christmas a colony. She adopted it in my name 🥰 and it is one of my favourite gifts ever! Especially since my friend, this one, really hates bees and insects in general so for me it was a really nice gesture!
I hope everyone here understands how important our little friends are and they really need our help, and apart for adopting a colony there are so many little things that we can do to help them… as usual I leave the link for info and tips > https://www.wwf.org.uk/updates/how-bee-friendly
See you tomorrow for discover another new friend ♥️
