Initially released in arcades in 1994 with a 1995 release for the Sega Saturn, it was the Genesis's turn in 1996. This release of the game however was a complete remake, with the reduced power of the Genesis this version of the game reverted back to a 2D fighting game.
Comparing input lag on my set-up between Sega AM2's PS2 and PS3 ports of their Model 2 arcade fighting games Virtua Fighter 2 and Fighting Vipers, running via emulation in the PS2 emulator PCSX2 and the PS3 emulator RPCS3.
In these particular comparisons, the PS3 versions in RPCS3 had about two less frames of input delay (~5 frames total) than their PS2 counterparts in PCSX2.
In past comparisons, I've found that PCSX2 has about the same input delay as actual PS2 hardware. So I'm very impressed by the performance of the PS3 games in RPCS3!
Virtua Fighter 5 Final Showdown (360) 30 years of believing they'd never touch the perfection of VF2. They surpassed it. Visually stunning despite its age. But the real magic is being inches away from the other fighter juking in and out of hit range, composing strategies with no chance to breathe.
