Okay, but when Mythcarver appeared I honest-to-god screamed its name like a teenage girl at a Harry Styles concert and like. It is. A fucking sword. A literal fucking sword. It’s not even a talking sword; I feel like I cannot stress enough that it does not have a personality. It is a normal ass enchanted sword that Scanlan will use 1 (one) time and then never again, but I apparently could not care less because it’s my blorbo now

Perhaps one of our favorite recent items we've made. We love creating artifacts in the style of Vestiges of Divergence from Critical Role. This was originally inspired by an idea someone had to create a blade that when you defeated someone, flowers would grow out of their body. Just as an aesthetic. But with more ideas from our Twitch Chat, we went a lot further with it!
Flora Mortella the Blooming Blade
Weapon (scimitar), artifact (requires attunement)
“The curved blade of this powerful scimitar has a shade of green to the metal. Several complex and beautiful designs of flowering vines crawl up the back of the blade. The hilt looks as though it was grown rather than crafted. It has the texture of tree bark and small ivy creepers and blossoms bloom from it.”
Dormant
You have a +1 bonus to attack and damage rolls with this weapon.
When you strike a creature with a critical hit using this weapon, grasping vines sprout from the blade and entangle it as they fill up a 10 foot square space. This space counts as difficult terrain for everyone but you and the target is restrained. A target restrained by these vines can attempt to break free with a DC 14 Strength (Athletics) check. Another creature can use the attack action to cut the vines, freeing a restrained target.
Awakened
The sword's bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +2.
The DC to break free of the grasping vines increases to 16.
When a creature is slain by this weapon, their corpse is covered in vines and flowers, including 1d4+1 blooming blossoms. You or an ally can use a bonus action to pick a number of blossoms. You can use a free action to expend any amount of them after an attack roll and add +1 to your attack and damage rolls per blossom. Blooming blossoms wither and die upon use, or after 10 minutes.
Exalted
The sword's bonus to attack and damage rolls increases to +3.
The DC to break free of the grasping vines increases to 18.
Your weapon attacks score a critical hit on a roll of 19–20.
Blooming blossoms grant +2 to attack and damage rolls.

In Critical Role Campaign 1, does anyone understand why someone made a bow that grows a tree out of creatures it kills???
It just seems like a very odd quirk that doesn't seem generally useful. It doesn't come into play until the fight is over, and you probably don't get much of a choice where your baby tree ends up located even if generating baby trees is generally desirable to the wielder. Have they ever revealed any sort of backstory, like that this weapon was created by someone fighting deforestation by literally killing the perpetrators and fertilizing the new growth with their corpses or something?

I liked how they merged some of the magical items together to keep the show moving quicker, like the boots of haste/death walker's ward and Mythcarver/the potion of shit scrying

Part One will consist of Vestiges found by Vox Machina and will be judged by its Exalted state. Below is a link to each Vestiges page on Encyclopedia Exandria, if you need a refresher on it's abilities. This poll is basically asking, which of these items do you think is the best to bring into a high level battle?
Cabal's Ruin
Deathwalker's Ward
Fenthras
Mythcarver
Plate of the Dawnmartyr
Spire of Conflux
Titanstone Knuckles
Whisper

Spoilers for Campaign 1/Legend of Vox Machina
Thinking about the Vestiges and how while most of them were clearly designed with particular players in mind, almost none of them have (with the exception of Mythcarver and the Spire of Conflux which require a Bard and a spellcaster respectively) have limitations on who can use them.
Imagine the crazy combinations we could’ve gotten:
-Vex or Percy with Deathwalker’s Ward
-Grog or Vax with Mythcarver (if they took Bard levels obviously)
-Vax or Pike with the Titanstone Knuckles
-Percy or Vax with the Fenthras Bow
-Pike or Scanlan with the Spire of Conflux
-Vax or Vex with Cabal’s Ruin
-Grog or Percy with Whisper
-Percy with Plate of the Dawnmartyr (he’s the only other person with Heavy Armor Proficiency)
The possibilities are so much fun to imagine, like Vex having to take levels in Cleric, Grog learning how to play an instrument to multiclass, etc. I just think it’d be fun.

Can the critical role fandom help me out with something? Were the other vestiges of divergence wielded around the same time Purvan Suul wore his armor? Because it would be a cool level 20 one shot if critical role did a vestiges of divergence team up battle royale situation.

We're SO excited to share this item, we've been holding onto it for over a month waiting for the illustration. We got it done like two days before the player it was made for received.
Our campaign takes place in Exandria, so this is a newly created Vestige of Divergence from Sehanine, the Moonweaver for our Pallid Elf Drakewarden Ranger! We hope you all like it.
Moonwoven Quiver
Wondrous Item, artifact, vestige of divergence (requires attunement)
“This quiver of arrows was created by the goddess of the Moon for one of her champions. Imbued with the magic of illusions and trickery, it served the champion in their fight against evil. The quiver is covered with twilight dragon scales that shine like a clear night sky. The emblem of the goddess is also emblazoned on the quiver’s straps, a crescent moon lined with arrows.”
Dormant State
While attuned to this artifact you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks.
This artifact creates magic arrows that can be used to apply various magical effects to their targets. It produces 1d4+1 magic arrows daily at dawn. It holds a maximum number of arrows equal to your level.
When you fire an arrow from this quiver you can choose one of the following spell effects to apply to your target if you hit; slow, bane or fear. The effect lasts until the end of your next turn.
Awakened State
The bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks increased to +2.
When you are hit by an attack roll you can use your reaction to teleport up to half of your speed. Once you’ve used this property it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
The artifact now refills 1d6+2 magic arrows daily at dawn.
The artifact gains the following magic arrow spell effects: enlarge\reduce, ray of enfeeblement, blindness\deafness.
Exalted State
The bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks increased to +3.
When using your reaction to teleport, you can teleport your full speed. You gain an additional use of this property.
The artifact gains the following magic arrow spell effects: confusion, silence. You can also choose to teleport adjacent to the target as an effect.
