Someone in Twitch Chat, "Make a magic potato!" "Where does this fit lore-wise in a world?" I imagine an elderly, retired adventurer grandma who has turned bounty hunter. She travels around now, offering people some of her famous potato salad. But she never eats it herself, no one ever notices until it's too late and she's taking them in as a spud.
Magic Potato
Wondrous Item, uncommon
“It’s just a normal potato. Nothing unusual about this at all…unless?”
If a creature takes a bite of the magic potato they must make a DC 12 Charisma saving throw or be turned into a sentient potato. While in this form they retain all of their mental stats, and can communicate telepathically to a range of 20 feet. They have an AC of 8 and only 1 hit point. If they take any damage, they revert back to their original form. The effects of the magic potato last for 24 hours.

One of our artists, @butturdapple , has been wanting to do an armor inspired by something she saw on Rings of Power for along time. Its was armor made of bark, with a face in it. So here is our Entangling Vine Armor, with a Civil War Colonel's mustache included!
Entangling Vine Armor
Armor (light or medium), rare
“This armor is made entirely of different barks, flora and vines. The vines are constantly writhing and slithering around the wearer, fitting to their form and protecting them from would-be attackers.”
When you are hit with a melee attack you can use your reaction to cause vines to extend from your armor and attempt to entangle your foe. The creature that made the attack must make a DC 14 Dexterity saving throw become restrained. The creature can free itself from the vines on its turn by using an action to cut away at the vines that are restraining it. You can use this property a number of times equal to your proficiency bonus. You regain all uses after you finish a long rest.

This is one of my recent favorite items. I love the idea of a mechanic that has a trade off that isn't immediately cashed in. This also a lot of fun because when you use it at the table, you're helping a friend...but you both know you're also dooming them to roll a 1 instead of a 20 at some point.
Please follow and reblog if you like it, or you'd use it in your games. :)

We're SO excited to share this item, we've been holding onto it for over a month waiting for the illustration. We got it done like two days before the player it was made for received.
Our campaign takes place in Exandria, so this is a newly created Vestige of Divergence from Sehanine, the Moonweaver for our Pallid Elf Drakewarden Ranger! We hope you all like it.
Moonwoven Quiver
Wondrous Item, artifact, vestige of divergence (requires attunement)
“This quiver of arrows was created by the goddess of the Moon for one of her champions. Imbued with the magic of illusions and trickery, it served the champion in their fight against evil. The quiver is covered with twilight dragon scales that shine like a clear night sky. The emblem of the goddess is also emblazoned on the quiver’s straps, a crescent moon lined with arrows.”
Dormant State
While attuned to this artifact you gain a +1 bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks.
This artifact creates magic arrows that can be used to apply various magical effects to their targets. It produces 1d4+1 magic arrows daily at dawn. It holds a maximum number of arrows equal to your level.
When you fire an arrow from this quiver you can choose one of the following spell effects to apply to your target if you hit; slow, bane or fear. The effect lasts until the end of your next turn.
Awakened State
The bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks increased to +2.
When you are hit by an attack roll you can use your reaction to teleport up to half of your speed. Once you’ve used this property it can’t be used again until you finish a short or long rest.
The artifact now refills 1d6+2 magic arrows daily at dawn.
The artifact gains the following magic arrow spell effects: enlarge\reduce, ray of enfeeblement, blindness\deafness.
Exalted State
The bonus to damage rolls on ranged attacks increased to +3.
When using your reaction to teleport, you can teleport your full speed. You gain an additional use of this property.
The artifact gains the following magic arrow spell effects: confusion, silence. You can also choose to teleport adjacent to the target as an effect.

There are already so many good healing-related items out there. If you give this to a DnD player, consider adding an attunement requirement, or at least don't give it to them along with a Moon Sickle!
Goddess’ Embrace
Wondrous Item, very rare
“The band of this ring is made of silver and is designed to show a white winged celestial being wrapping their arms around a red ruby shaped like a heart.”
Whenever you cast a spell that restores hit points, you restore your own hit points by an amount equal to your spellcasting modifier (minimum of 1). Additionally, if a creature you can see within 30 feet of you is reduced to 0 hit points, you can use your reaction and take the damage yourself. Once you use this feature you cannot use it again until you finish a long rest.

More of a Plot Item for DMs and GMS to use, but this could easily be the catalyst for a new plot arc in your campaign!
Seed of Ruin
Wondrous Item, very rare
“A seed roughly the size of a person's fist. The outer shell looks like charcoal dusted with ash. It has a few large cracks that run across it and inside is a glowing, red hot core. The seed seeps out a sickly, orange miasma.”
This magic seed takes 10 minutes to plant firmly in the ground. Once planted it will start to take root and spread its influence to the surrounding areas. After the first 24 hours the seeds' corruption will begin to spread exponentially covering a 10 mile radius within 30 days. The corruption of the seed cannot reach further than 10 miles.
Land corrupted by this seed cannot support life, and so all plants will begin to wilt and die. Similarly, fauna will begin to migrate away from the land, or slowly starve should they remain. The corruption of the seed attracts all kinds of aberrations and monstrosities. If the seed is removed and the area it was buried in cleansed through the use of a hallow spell or similar magic then the corruption of the area will fade within the next 24 hours, allowing life to return.

We've got a new illustration for our Shambling Cloak! Would you wear the kind of still living corpse of a Shambling Mound?
Shambling Cloak
Wondrous Item, very rare
“This rare cloak is made from the remains of a shambling mound and though the creature is long dead, the vines of this cloak will slowly and harmlessly twist and slither along the arms, back and neck of the one wearing it.”
While wearing this magic item gives you advantage on stealth checks when trying to blend in among plants and other flora. Additionally, you have advantage on grapple checks against medium creatures or smaller. Lightning Absorption. Whenever you are subjected to lightning damage, you take no damage and regain a number of hit points equal to half the lightning damage dealt.

We are so excited to finally unveil our new card designs! Our artist Eotia has spent so much time and effort looking over what we love and what makes other creators work stand out and came up with something we think is just as sharp!
This magic item was actually created for one of the players in my Call of the Netherdeep game. A former noble with amnesia, this fishing pole was a gift from his father that he now uses as a Monk to fight off his Vampire Godmother.
Oleandre’s Legacy
Weapon (quarterstaff), rare
“This carefully handcrafted fishing rod is adorned with designs and decorations befitting a family heirloom. Despite its antique appearance, it is quite sturdy and holds up exceptionally well even when used as a weapon. Due to its magical nature it can be completely collapsed down into the palm of your hand.”
You have a +2 bonus to attack and damage rolls made with this magic weapon.
You can use a bonus action to transform this magic item into a fishing pole or back into a quarterstaff. The quarter staff and fishing pole are collapsable and can be easily concealed when not in use.
Catch of the Day. When you take the attack action you can substitute one of your attacks to instead summon a magical tether. Target one creature within 30 feet that you can see. That creature must make an opposed Strength (Athletics) check against you or be pulled up to 20 feet toward you in a straight line. If any object or creature would impede their path, the movement stops. A creature can choose to fail this check. Once you have used this property you cannot use it again until you finish a short or long rest.

Inspired by a Twitch Viewer who wanted a weapon that helped you lie. The Liar's Blade has some cool properties, and definitely something we'll want illustrated someday!
The Liar’s Blade
Weapon (any sword), rare
“The blade of this sword is made with a mysterious fey alloy that causes it to shimmer occasionally and change between being opaque and transparent. The edges of the blade are always visible, glowing a dull purple. The crossguard has a wide, fanged grin etched into it.”
This magic weapon deals psychic damage instead of slashing damage.
While holding this magic weapon you have advantage on Wisdom (insight) skill checks.
You can cast the mislead spell as a bonus action. After casting this spell you must finish a long rest, then  make a successful deception check in order to cast it again.
If the mislead spell has been used and cannot be cast you may add your proficiency bonus to the damage roll of an attack. You can use this feature 3 times, regaining all uses after a long rest.

I loved the idea of a DnD Warlock, or maybe their patron, whose heart was turned into an magic item. We were finally able to get an illustration of it and it looks better than I imagined!
And for those who may ask, RAW, if you use Eldritch Blast at higher levels, even though it fires three individual blasts it is still only one cast of the cantrip. So you don't get the +5 damage per. Unless your DM wants to rule it that way, then go nuts! :)
Old Warlock’s Ticker
Wondrous Item, very rare (requires attunement)
“No one knows who this heart originally belonged to, but it’s still beating though it pumps no blood. The flesh is blackened and the face of a timepiece is embedded in the center, tick tick ticking away.” While attuned to this magic item you have an extra spell slot of your highest level.
Whenever you cast a cantrip you can add your spellcasting ability modifier to the damage done.
If you roll a 1 on the d20 for a death saving throw, this magic item is destroyed and you are healed to half of your maximum hit points. Join us on Twitch every Mon\Wed\Fri to create new Homebrews and check out our Patreon for 464+ magic items, tokens, maps, and more.

When we first asked for inspiration from our viewers in Twitch Chat, we wanted them to choose a monster from DnD that we could make into a magic item. Someone said Blink Dog and we refused to create one FROM a Blink Dog...but this was a fair compromise and could make for a tragic backstory hook!
Blink Bracelet
Wondrous Item, rare
“This bracelet was once the collar of a blink dog. They were such a good doggo, that some of their powers transferred to the collar and it was then turned into a bracelet as a memento.”
Using your bonus action you blink forward 20 feet to an unoccupied square. At the start of your next turn you automatically blink back to your previous location. If that square is now occupied, you choose an adjacent square to occupy. Once you use this magic item you cannot use it again until you finish a short rest.

These items are a bit more plot-related than something you'd want to use in combat. But I think they could be used in some very interesting ways by a DnD party to get information about a cult's deity, or perspective from a god. How far would a good party be willing to push though for the information they need?
Divine Bindings
Wondrous Item, very rare
“Two thick iron manacles whose chains are made of silver and gold. The manacles themselves have several divine runes and celestial language inscribed upon them.”
When these magical bindings are placed on a target they become restrained. You can then use an action to speak the command word causing the target to make a DC 18 Wisdom saving throw. On a failed save, if they have a patron, extraplanar being, or god they worship, they become a conduit to that being. The being can hear what the target hears and speak through them. The target can survive having three questions answered through them. If any further questions are asked, each time the being speaks through the target, they gain one level of exhaustion. If the target succeeds on their Wisdom saving throw, they are immune to the effects of the bindings for the next 24 hours.
The bindings can be escaped from with a DC 20 Strength (Athletics) check or a DC 20 Dexterity check using thieves' tools.

A pop-up book that summons random monsters? Yes. Isn't that super dangerous for all involved? Also yes. If you put this in your campaign, please tell us how it goes.
Pop-Up Monstrous Manual
Wondrous Item, legendary
“A thick tome filled to the brim with information on all types of creatures scattered throughout the multiverse. The information is far from complete, and more is constantly appearing in the endless back pages of the book. When this book is opened, a pop-up display of a creature folds out of the pages.”
Whenever you make a skill check to discern information about a creature, you can consult this magic tome for 10 minutes, and gain advantage on the roll. As an action you can throw this book to a point you can see within 30 feet of you and summon a random creature from its pages. This creature is not under your control and acts in a fashion appropriate to its nature. The GM determines the creature at random from the pages of the monster manual. The creature lasts for 1 hour or until it is reduced to 0 hit points. Once you use the book to summon a creature, you cannot do so again until you have finished a long rest.

This isn't our first Mimic-related item the past week and it won't be our last. Mimics are just too much fun in DnD! But don't worry, this one is on your side. We promise.
Mimic Weapon
Weapon (any), rare
“This weapon is unsightly, often made of bones, teeth and skin of unknown origin. Occasionally, it even has the odd unblinking eye and salivating tongue.” You can use an action to change this weapon into any weapon type. Additionally, this weapon deals an extra 1d6 peircing damage on attacks.
While holding this weapon you have advantage on Charisma (Intimidation) checks.

After watching a Crown of Candy and then getting a couple in one of my D&D games who wanted to play a engaged couple, I was inspired to make something similar for them.
When Aric was looking for a new ring to propose, the culture of the city they were in didn't really do wedding bands. So the NPC at the shop brought out a rare, rose fire diamond and told Aric, "I can split this rare gem and create a bracelet out of the two halves. We'll also package up the small pieces that fracture off and when you propose, you sprinkle them at the spot you ask her. So then you, her and that spot are forever linked through the Rose Fire."
