Venice Carnival 2024

Some of the people I was able to capture during the Venice Carnival of 2024. The event takes place in February, I was there in the beginning of the month for a couple of rainy days. Sadly not many people were out during my stay but I would like to thank all the great participants who braved the bad weather and made once again this festival a magical event for me and thousands of other spectators! 🛶let me take you backwards and forwards🚤 This is a painting I did while in residence @bevilacqualamasa in 2017/18. It’s based on a photograph I captured of friends waiting for the Venice Night Line at the Rialto boat stop. If you’ve never stood in one of these stops, it may recall some sort of public transportation interior. Feel welcome to comment below what you may be seeing for yourself :) This piece was first exhibited at the end of residency group show at the BLM Gallery in Piazza San Marco, Venice. Later that year, it travelled to Berlin to be shown in Transferred Recall, a solo show.
