PLEASE NOTE:THIS HAS VAAS’ DLC SPOILERS

In Vaas’ Insanity DLC, Vaas is tasked with finding the 3 pieces of Citra’s Blade to escape his mind.

At the end of one task titled “You Hit The Ground” Vaas gets a memory of the first time he saw Jason and his group skydiving and parachuting onto the island. As this vision ends, Jason will sometimes comment saying “Awww, that was our meet-cute! Such fond memories”

Now you may be asking, why is this so important to me? Well I looked up what a meet-cute actually was.....and it was given as this: An amusing or charming first encounter between two characters that leads to the development of a romantic relationship between them.

A ROMANTIC RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THEM

I know I normally mod so this is not my typical content however I couldn’t stop thinking about it and wanted to share it. Vaas as a character is quite complex with his sexual trauma due to Citra, seeing violence since he was a child, and the impact of colonization happening. Vaas and his addiction to drugs are such an interesting mechanism. He is addicted to the drugs but not to run away from his problems but to run head first into them. Vaas has been abused and controlled his whole life and drugs allow him to run towards everything he once feared. Yet, his addiction isn’t without problems. The way in the dlc we see this other version of himself sobbing and crying as the new Vaas punishes the old Vaas for being scared and showing weakness. Yet littered around Vaas’ base you see these LED lights all over. They’re where he wakes up they’re in every single unit you can go into. Why? LED lights glow mask and make it harder to find your veins. Vaas struggles with addiction. Including blue/purple lights as a key element I think is more than just for aesthetic. Everything in the island is symbolism and Vaas wants to be drug free. He doesn’t want to be addicted to have bad trips. In his mind psyche he wants to be free from the abuse and drugs and those LED lights show that. He doesn’t want to be seen as an monster and shouldn’t be. His trauma is something so interesting.
