The End of the Module – Digital Content Creation For Fashion
I have learnt so much from both parts to this module and it has really helped to take me out of my comfort zone. I now feel more confident to take control in more creative settings, like during a photoshoot or a podcast for example. It has been really interesting working and directing in a photoshoot with a model(s) and I feel like I have gained some great experience with photography and videography-based projects. This has also allowed me to adapt my digital skills through using new adobe editing software’s like Premier Pro and Audition. This module was very unique in comparison with the modules I have previously completed in the past and I now feel more prepared for my third year, especially for when I conduct more independent and creative-based projects.

Audiogram
To help promote the podcast further, I was asked to make an audiogram using the promotional artwork as the background. I took a one-minute clip from my podcast, which included a question I asked Naomi, which was “Do you have any other items of clothing or outfits that you love and have held onto for a long time because they have always been associated with another special memory, or do you just generally hold on to clothing because they’re simply really pretty or just good quality?”. Her answer was very interesting, as she talks about how despite not wearing those specific pieces of clothing or outfits anymore, she has kept them because they remind her of special times which she had spent with her family, or relatives who are no longer here. She also states that when she looks at them, they help to recapture the feeling she had at the time she wore them. I really enjoyed the process of making this audiogram, and again it was my first time ever making one. I used the website ‘Headliner’ which was very easy to use.

Promotional Artwork
Another component to this module is to complete a piece of promotion artwork, which helps to advertise the podcast. During the process of making my fashion film, I took some photographs of the outfit my boyfriend’s mum was wearing. In one of the photographs, I captured the high heels she wore and with this photograph I used Adobe Photoshop to edit out the entire background around the shoes and then I placed this on a new plain squared background.  After changing the colour of the background and positioning the shoes to one side of the image, I added a title stating, “The Memories of Loved Clothes, Last”, insinuating that it is the memory of the clothes which we love that makes them last. I think the final outcome was very clear, bright, and creative.

Podcast – Planning, Recording and Editing
So, for my podcast I wanted to make it friendly and informative, and to also open up a discussion about fast fashion and how we as consumers need to rethink our shopping habits. I decided I would make notes for the entire podcast because I didn’t feel confident enough to speak clearly and on topic for the entire 10 minutes. This was my first time creating anything like a podcast, so I didn’t want to stress myself out more, by thinking of everything on the top of my head. But hopefully if I carry on creating similar audio projects in the future, it will help me to gain more confidence with speaking on the spot. I used my iPhone’s ‘Voice Memos’ app to record my voice and I think this was a very effective app to use as it picked up my voice very clearly without picking up on any annoying background noises.
I also interviewed my boyfriend’s mum, Naomi, for the second half of my podcast using the same app and once I had all the voice recordings I needed, I sent them to my laptop and edited them on Adobe Audition. I found Adobe Audition confusing at first as the editing process seamed quite different to Adobe Premier Pro. However, once I watched a few tutorials on YouTube I got the hang of it and edited the entire podcast. I also wanted it to feel just like any other podcast out there, so I added music to the beginning and end, which I found on YouTube’s Audio Library.
My podcast focuses on my interpretation of the phrase “Loved Clothes Last” and also delves into how the phrase could be used in a sustainable sense. I talked a bit about my fashion film and how that related to “Loved Clothes Last”, which I think helped to tie everything together. I then introduced my boyfriend’s mum, Naomi, who I knew would have some great points to make for this podcast, about fast fashion and how she views some of the important issues happening in the fashion industry at the moment. My main aim for the podcast was promote to people that we need to speak more openly about fast fashion, and about the ways which we excessively shop. I believe I have achieved this and my overall opinion on my finished podcast is that it was very successful, especially for my first attempt at making one.

Fashion Film
I decided I wanted to have two different models in my fashion film, to tell a story behind one outfit they have each, which they love and have kept because of a special memory that is connected to it. I also decided to have the two models share their story/memory one after the other, keeping in mind that the fashion film needs to be within 30-60 seconds. I took my first model (Theo) to the first filming location to capture his story about his love with Golf and the outfit he wore when he’d practise Golf with his family. This outfit reminds him of the special moment he holds between him and his family. He admitted to me that he would keep this specific outfit for as long as he could.
I decided to take some shots of him in the outfit, whilst he posed and practised his golfing swing with his golf clubs and other accessories. I believe I have captured his story by focusing on his determination to practice to golf, alongside taking shots which just focused on his outfit. I also chose to shoot a short clip of the model at one of his regular golfing ranges, and then during postproduction I edited the composition of two shots in the different locations, so that they would make a pleasant transition together.
For my next model I wanted to change the location so there would be a clear difference between both models and the models’ stories. My second model (Naomi) had an outfit which was connect to her best friend’s wedding. Her best friend’s wedding was extremely important to her and will always hold a special memory in her heart. I used multiple props within the shoot to try to capture a wedding theme, for example we used blossom petals to act as confetti and Champaign glasses to resemble a time for celebrations. I used Premier Pro to edit the videos in postproduction.
I believe the outcome of my video was quite successful and also has a playful vibe overall. I think the stories are well described and clearly captured throughout the video, which reflects my inspiration I took from SHOWStudio. However, I did struggle with using Adobe Premier Pro and I wish I could have had more time to adapt to the more advanced editing techniques within this software.

Some of my inspiration for this module has derived from the book ‘Loved Clothes Last’, written by Orsola de Castro. The book highlights some of the staggering statistics which describe the environmental impact caused by the fashion industry, and also shares ideas on how we can become more sustainable consumers. A way we can become more sustainable with our own clothes is by letting go of our addiction to buying into the newest fashion trends and finding a new way that will allow us to feel content with the clothes that we already have. If we keep an emotional connection to our favourite garment or outfits, then we will be less likely to discard of them so easily.

My Ideas
My initial ideas for the fashion film are to create quirky shots of two or three different models, who individually have a unique story or memory, which they can connect to an outfit or a piece of clothing. I want to explain how the clothing we love can be timeless, as long as we cherish the memories that they have lived through. I intend for the fashion film to include close ups of the models clothing and video clips of the model in a similar environment as to the one from their memory/story. I will try to edit the videos I conduct myself using Adobe’s Premier Pro software and to edit the clips in a fashion forward style, which has been inspired by Showstudio.

“Loved Clothes Last”
For another university module I am currently working on I have to create a fashion film, podcast, and weekly blog posts in response to the phase “Loved Clothes Last”. In my opinion, “Loved Clothes Last” could be interpreted as many different things, including the very obvious, which is that the clothes we love seem to last a long time in our possession. However, “last” could mean physically or in memory. We can feel attached to an item of clothing or a specific outfit because we simply believe it’s beautiful or amazing quality. Or that certain clothes which we hang on to for a long time is due to a special memory that they hold. Another way to look at the phrase is that when we take care of our clothes in a sustainable way, this should make the clothes last. I like to interpret the phase “Loved Clothes Last” as the emotions we get from an outfit or certain items of clothing, which could possibly reflect on an amazing time or event in our lives. These memories will never leave the clothes, therefore the love for them lasts.

Final Advertising Image
I chose this for my final Advertising image because I found that this image is the most effective as it clearly promotes the USW hoody, and also captures the sports positions that my model has studied within his degree.

Flat Lays
Here are four of my flat lays which uniquely display the style of each outfit from the photoshoots. I have also included a flat lay of the USW sports uniform my model has to wear at university. Some of the key accessories and props I used within these flat lays include academic books, sporty trainers, headphones, an American Football themed helmet, a football, a shooter sleeve, a small barbell, and a foam roller. All of these components help to express the story of the model and the journey they have taken with their university course, alongside creating a clear picture of their personal style and behaviours.

Photoshoot 3 – Outdoor/American Football Shoot
For my last photoshoot I decided to take the American Football theme outside on a large field to resemble an American football field, where athletes would practise or compete. I love how the images from this photoshoot came out because they were very bright and colourful. Despite taking these images from my iPhone, I felt like the images didn’t need much postproduction editing, as they were already very clear and artistic. I made sure to keep the USW hoody as the main feature within the images by using the rule of thirds to keep the USW logo in the middle of the images. Here are some of the best images from this shoot:

Photoshoot 2 – Weight Training/Gym Shoot
My second photoshoot focused on the weight training side to the models’ degree. The shoot was conducted inside the models’ home gym, but as this area was quite small and restrictive, I decided to bring the model outside and in front of a simple background with their bar and weights. Using just my iPhone to take the pictures, I managed to get the model in a squat and deadlift positions. I also wanted to keep a consistency through each photoshoot. For example, in the post-production section I decided to keep the images very warm with high vibrancy and contrast. Check out some of the best images from this shoot:

Photoshoot 1 - Studio Shoot
My first shoot for this module took place in a studio at my university, where I used professional camera and lighting equipment to capture a collage of images focusing on the American Football theme. My main aim for this shoot was to capture good quality action shots, that explained the motion and positioning of the typical athlete within the sport of American Football. Despite feeling a little intimidated by the professional camera and lighting equipment that I had never independently used before, I felt like the photoshoot was a success. The final images varied from close ups to wide shots, which gave me a great range of images to choose from during the postproduction section, which I edited through Adobe Photoshop. Here are some of the best images from this shoot:
