"Who's the better leader? Ludo or me?"

They were words he had asked only mere moments before, stirring an obvious feeling of uncertainty with the group of monsters. They were torn between their loyalty to Ludo and the desire to be treated better.

Ludo's string of insults that followed seemed to make the decision easier.

Toffee scoffed. When would the Avarius child see that insulting the ones you want on your side was a bad idea?

"I think everyone has made their decision." He seized him up by the collar, making his way to the door.

‘Tell me, did I have any part to play in this?’ ‘No.’

‘Tell me, did I have any part to play in this?’ ‘No.’

The two lines in two very familiar voices repeated, over and over. When she found the source of the lines, as well as the person that one of those voices belonged to, Star couldn’t believe what it was she was seeing.

A friend, clearly in pain, watching the thing that was causing that pain, and making no move to stop it.

The sound faded into a ringing nothingness as the princess balled her hands into fists so tight she could feel her fingernails digging into her palms. Whoever had done this was the most despicable being in existence, and she planned to find them and make them pay. But first, there was something far more important to do - help Ludo.

Slowly closing the distance between herself and the small monster, she picked up the offending screen with one hand, before turning away and throwing it like a frisby as hard and far as she possibly could, yelling her frustration at the device as it flew off into the distance.

As it flew out of sight, the princess sat herself down next to Ludo. No words. No further actions. The ringing in her ears slowly faded as she relaxed her hands, ignoring the stinging pain as her fists unballed, tears seeping out her eyes from the overwhelming emotion letting itself out the only other way it could, now that its grip on her had faded.

“... If that thing lands, it’s never gonna work again. It’ll probably break into a million tiny pieces.”

The Septarian grimaced as the rain started coming down in buckets now. What had started as a light, annoying sprinkle quickly turned into a deluge. Rasticore pulled up the hood of his cape up but it didn’t really protect him from much; he had to get out of the rain!

Fortune happened to smile on him (for once), and his eye alighted on a cave, just a small one, he’d have to duck and hunch over to get inside, but it was shelter!

He quickly scrambled under the lip of the cavern finding it a bit snug. So he sat down, but the depth and width of this cave didn’t really allow for him to stretch his legs out. So he sat with his knees curled under his chin, looking out at the rain and listening to the thunder rumble.

The first thing she noticed when she got closer to the little monster was that she seemed to have (literally) ruffled his feathers a bit. And who could blame him? Most of her kind were something for a monster to be afraid of. He seemed to warm up to her rather quickly though, so Eclipsa quickly relaxed.

“I couldn’t agree more. It’s almost as if it’s their go-to word for people they can’t understand!”

“Or don’t want to understand...”

Kindred Spirits

Star tapped her fingers against the door in apprehension of the creature she knew was behind the door. Her mother had given him one of the servants quarters. It was probably a step up from any squalor he lived in before.

Her feelings on this birdbrain were more than conflicted. She did feel awful for his hardships and for the fact that he was literally a puppet by the strings, but this was still her former enemy. It was hard to just forget it all. Ludo lived here though, for now anyway. And she did want to see how he was faring...

Hesitantly Star cracked open the door. "Oh, sorry!" She quickly slammed it. "I forgot to knock!" After a moment three sharp taps were heard.

“Well, then, let’s go to Quest Buy’s clothes section! Or if you can’t go there because of what I did that one time, we can go to an Earth mall! We can get whatever kind of clothes and accessories and whatnot you want, because you definitely need some clothes.” Pulling out her compact and flipping it open, Star held it out in a way Ludo would be able to understand what she meant.

“I mean like a compact mirror, so you can call people, or send them texts, or take pictures, or whatever you want. You need some kind of way to contact people without having to go find ‘em, after all. I know a great compact shop, and have a really good mirror service provider.”

As the two survive the wild together, Rasticore has been known to scoop Ludo in his mouth if they run into serious trouble. Rasticore says that it’s to keep his one arm free but it’s also an instinctive thing.

Rasticore likes to tell Ludo about some of his crazy hunting jobs and some of the dimensions he’s been, especially if the little bird is having a bad day.

If the two were to encounter a large body of water and no bridge Rasticore would put the smol monster atop his head and ferry him across.

Rasticore also likes to cuddle Ludo or put Ludo on top of his chest when he sleeps because Ludo is warm. Ludo allows this so he can pet the abs.

Toffee generally just ignores Ludo. As much as he’d love to give into his anger and murder the bird, Toffee wants Ludo to suffer and what’s the best way to do that? Don’t give him attention.

Alternatively, if he found out just how traumatized the Avarius was he may shapeshift into something unseen and talk to Ludo make him question reality...

If that proved to be ineffective in causing Ludo distress then physical harm is next on the list. Maybe take off the arm that’s been causing the bird so much trouble... I mean, it practically belongs to Toffee anyway...

There certainly wouldn’t be any sort of apology forthcoming from the former Septarian.

Star glanced around almost nervously as she exited the portal, making sure to close it behind her.

Part of her couldn’t believe she was out here, in the middle of nowhere, looking for Ludo of all people - monsters, whatever. But she had had a nagging feeling in the back of her mind ever since she’d last seen him - hurtling into the Void once more, this time at his own request - and knew it wouldn’t stop until she spoke with him.

Slowly, she picked her way through the brush, moving steadily closer to what she assumed to be Ludo’s camp - a few searches using the spying spell, and she’d managed to get a decent idea of his location. She cleared her throat loudly, trying to announce her presence so as not to give the little guy a heart attack.
