Matt casually mentioned that Rand Enterprises was responsible for blinding him and Danny's face just 😲 Then Danny does some digging only to find out that the settlement Matt received was pitiful, like barely enough to cover his medical bills and undergrad.

When Danny asks Matt about it he just says his dad didn't know what he was doing (language barrier) and was scared that they would investigate his immigration status. So Danny feels extremely guilty that his company screwed over a poor immigrant family and omg I'm the problem??? D:

Danny keeps offering Matt a shit ton of money as a sorry-my-company-was-shitty-we'll-do-better payment and Matt rejects it every time (Foggy finds out and calls Matt an idiot for not accepting money from the millionaire)

Danny gets so annoyed that Matt won't just take the money that he buys the building Nelson & Murdock's office is in and makes their monthly rent $4.20

Usaigi's HFH Headcanon List

Official employed H4H are: Luke Cage (aka the boss), Danny Rand (aka the money), Misty Knight, Colleen Wing, Claire Temple (Night Nurse). Nelson & Murdock are their lawyers on retainer.

Contrary to population belief, Daredevil is not a HFH, he just shows up to fights something. He still gets an invite to the office parties though. He brings chips and guac. Matt also always brings chips and guac, what a coincidence..

Jessica is also not a HFH, she has her own business she's passionate about (aka Alias) but does collaborate with them often. And she's on their health insurance.

Moon Knight is a contractor. Like, not ""legally"" he's not on the company's payroll but like Daredevil, keeps inviting himself to their fights. Unlike Daredevil, they contently yell at him for "excessive violence" and "Jake! Don't kill that guy!" Ugh, so annoying. Literally Latinophobia. Does very much take advantage of the office mini fridge and steal all their coffee

Likewise, Layla is indepent. Sometimes they work together, sometimes she brings couscous to the potluck, sometimes she's out of the country for half the year.

Ex-Intern Peter. What was Peter's job exactly? No one remember. He's still on their health insurance plan 👍 Thanks Danny!

Intern Miles! They actually just hired him to do a mural in and outside their building so he's not actually an intern they just call him that. Rio goes to Matt's church and mentioned Miles needing some pocket money, HFH needed art, so it all worked out. Miles email the office his concept art, Colleen added her suggestions, and Matt approved it(yeah) and that's why the mural is the four of them with slogans like: "Black Lives Matter" "No one is illegal on stolen land" "Gringo go home" "Stop Asian Hate" "ACAB" "Disability rights are human rights" etc. in the background. Luke thinks it's cheesy but that's his fault for never checking his work email, "Sweet Christmas. What's that on my head? A metal tiara? I look like a damn fool." Danny think it looks badass. Danny is not a reliable source.

Luke and Danny are best friends in the same way that a job will have you 21 with a 35 year old best friend "like I hope Luke will be down to get Taco Bell after out shift of solving racism and inequalities"

The first floor of the H4H building is their office, downstairs is Claire's clinic (open to all vigilantes), upstairs is their apartment. They all got their own homes but they crash their more often than they care to admit. There a beer pong table in the middle of the kitchen that's been up for three months. It'll probably stay up for another three month.

The TV in their lobby is always playing Dragon Ball Z. Why? "Most of our clients are black and latino and they love Goku!"

Mateo Murdock 🥺 He's cute, angsty, funny, a hot mess, witty, mommy and daddy issues and has the mental illness sparkle ✨ Something about a character so filled with rage and hurt and so dedicated to help others. Mhm martyrs.. He and Loki were my first MCU blorbos and while I still like Loki, he's lost his blorbo status in my heart. He's my number one.

Colleen - Her mom is Okinawan w/ connection to K'un-Lun/the mystical cities/Seven Capital Cities of Heaven and dad is born and raised in Hawaii with chinese, filipino, korean, japanese, white, hawaiian ancestry. Colleen being Okinawan and growing up in Hawaii exposed her to how indigenous people are treated like second class citizens on their own land and how outsiders/colonizers exploit the land and its resources and that why she's so protective of the K'un-Lun/mystical cities. Also she's a lesbian for Misty

Danny - Half white, half chinese. Some family and business partners and other rich people from Rand's side thought Danny's mom was a foreign gold digger but her family is China Rich™ British boarding school, met Wendell at fancy Ivy League etc. and still not "like them" So when Danny was born, he got exposed to a lot of racism and specifically Sinophobia/anti-Chinese comments all through childhood

And ADHD King 🏃 undiagnosed though, all his sifus thought he just liked to jump.

Claire - Afro-Latina (canon) Did I make this up or does Claire talk about experiencing a lot of anti-blackness growing up? Anyways, if that's canon, cool!(not that anti-blackness in the latine community is cool but for Netflix to acknowledge that's something afro-Latinos often experience) If not, it's canon now.

Matt - Mexican Matt etc etc. i know u know this by now but also trans masc Matt who thought he used to be a lesbian and is now a straight cis passing white passing guy despite being disabled poc and queer and the identity and religious meltdown he must have had when he went to college. Also I changed my mind, I do like BPD Matt

Jessica - wonder bread white but she's like self aware about it. She brings a store bought cake to the office potluck. She keeps her mouth closed when the others wash their chicken in the sink. PTSD is canon but I also think she has DPDR. Also Bi.

Danny Rand 's nickname was Laowai(foreigner) growing up. At first, he thought it was just a schoolyard nickname, like how Ward used to call him Dango, only to realize that the other kids were telling him he doesn't belong there.

He doesn't fight it. He's used to it after all. Even back in the States he didn't look like Joy or Ward with their colorful eyes and light brown hair. He didn't look like his dad or his side of the family. He only had his mom. He was surrounded by so many people who look like him but he's still an outsider. Forever the outsider. Laowai. Foreigner.

He doesn't fight it. Instead, he studies more and trains harder in hopes that one day they'll accept him as one of their own.

When he goes to back to the States he calls himself a "foreigner." With raised eyebrows, the other Heroes for Hire ask him why.

"I'm a foreigner. I don't belong here, I'm from K'un-Lun," he says.

"Sure, but you do belong here. You're part of our team too," they say.

Belong..? Danny's never felt like this before. It's nice.

Elektra - Half Cambodian half French, raised Greek. BPD/NPD with murderer tendencies but she's working on it

AU where Felicia becomes the new Kingpin. She gets into the drug trade business because she had a friend who OD on fentanyl so she takes over to make sure the shit being sold in NYC is “safe” (no drugs are safe but you know what I mean). She starts a drug use clinic where people can get and dispose of needles, there’s nurses/health care workers on staff, and offers help to anyone ready to get sober.

It’s all still illegal and Felicia is thieving to fund her social programs but Spider-Man/heroes for hire can’t totally hate her.
