(Guilty Honkler provided TL, btw).
So, Kinchan posted on her Instagram about not appearing in the Unit Koshien 2024 event. As I feared, her SRS relapsed after about 3 years. It's not easy to deal with the symptoms of Stress Response Syndrome, as it can involve anxiety and/or depression.
I hope she will be able to overcome this situation once more.

Well I learned yesterday not to use a lot of data when I don't have much left or I can't look at Tumblr for the rest of the day. Or use the internet at all.
Anyway I finished -IF- last night so that is the end of V series so I just placed the four V series seasons with the rest like I have been doing. (Again my personal opinion and it is just easier to fully get my opinions across before I give Dress series a try.)
Tumblr media
The first season of V series which is the start of the reboot kinda feels like the same level as season one of OG. Like while it was different and it was nice to see new units even just once. (Dragonic waterfall just disappeared after it's debut for example.) Plus it was nice seeing Ibuki during his dark time than only in a movie so B tier.
I didn't dislike the koshien season as it was nice to see the student council and Eru join but it just felt too short. Since it was just leading up to the koshien which felt short. It was nice to see the likes of Nome and mamoru appear in the season. But it felt like a weaker season. Though I enjoyed the Ibuki Vs Naoki fight. (C tier)
I was honestly excited to watch the Shinemon season as I heard it was good and it didn't disappoint. Valkerions theme is one of my favourite unit themes. I liked seeing Shin as a teenager and enjoyed Esuka, Nanami, tonori and tatsuya although I wish they weren't so late in V series or the series in general. So we could have got more of them. (S tier)
Now as much as a mess -IF- can be with all the distortions and that. I enjoyed it as it gave a new dynamic with Ibuki and Suiko. It was nice to see Emi get to have some spotlight in V series since she never played vanguard unlike in OG when she did a few times even if the fights weren't fully shown. I honestly liked Shuka. It was nice getting to see interactions we never got before. Like with Ibuki and Gouki for one episode. (A tier.)

Arata Endo: Frank Lloyd Wright's Counterpart in Japan
“…from the standing point of working practically on architectural design, I want to think about daily facts on architecture and architectural beauty of the moment, which is found on either side of us, by the roadside and everywhere.”
 – Arata Endo
If you’re a regular reader of Design and Desire in the Twentieth Century, you know that we frequently post on architect Frank Lloyd Wright, but until now, not much about his time working in Japan. In 1917 Wright was commissioned to design and oversee the building of the Imperial Hotel in Tokyo. Japanese architect Arata Endo served Wright as his chief draftsperson and translator. (1) While in Japan Wright designed “14 buildings, only six of which would be built”; most were supervised by Arata Endo" (2). But who was Arata Endo? What happened to the architect after his time with Wright?
Arata Endo was born on June 1, 1889 in Fukuda, Nagasaki Prefecture (now a part of Nagasaki City). (3) He studied architecture at Tokyo Imperial University during the early 1910s. Prior to meeting Frank Lloyd Wright in Tokyo in 1917 had Endo worked on the team that was drawing up the plans for the Meiji Shrine. (1) “Endo had…risen to notoriety after publishing a scathing criticism of architect Kingo Tatsuno” (1), who was best known for work influenced by classical western architecture like the Bank of Japan building in Chuo City (1896) and the Tokyo Station Building (1914). (4)
Tumblr media

Wright’s time in Japan coincided with “the Taisho era of modernity (1912–1926), [when] many Japanese were especially receptive to non-Japanese ideas” (5). Wright found that he and the young architect Endo shared “an infectious wit, no tolerance for mediocrity, and a belief in the sanctity of architecture” (6), and Wright hired the then twenty-seven-year-old Endo as his chief draftsperson on the Imperial Hotel project. Endo also introduced Wright to husband and wife architects Kameki and Nobuko Tsuchiura. The couple worked on the Imperial Hotel project, then later moved to the United States to work with Wright at Taliesin and in Los Angeles. (6)
In 1922, with the Imperial Hotels months away from completion, (2) circumstances forced Wright to return to the United States. It is not clear whether Wright had been fired or whether he left Japan for other reasons. Endo took over supervision of the project to completion. (1) “The Imperial Hotel (1914–1923)… became an icon of modern Tokyo” (5). Its innovative design was popular with both fashionable Japanese residents and foreign visitors. (5)
During his illustrious career, Frank Lloyd Wright occasionally collaborated with other architects, but he rarely credited those collaborators. Arata Endo was the only architect who was credited with designing a building with Wright, the Jiyu Gakuen school (1921) in Tokyo. Endo oversaw the construction of this project after Wright’s departure from Japan. (1) Endo also supervised the project for “the only surviving Frank Lloyd Wright residence in Japan: the Yodoko Guest House (1918)" (1).

Arata Endo designed few projects during the mid-1920s. Instead, he focused on writing several articles about his philosophy on architecture, “including ‘An essay on architectural art’ (1926) and ‘An essay on architecture’ (1928)” (7).
Sadly, Frank Lloyd Wright’s  Imperial Hotel was demolished in 1967, although Endo’s masterwork,  the Koshien Hotel (1930), “which was heavily influenced by Wright’s Imperial Hotel” (1) is still extant. Like much of Wright’s work, “the façade of Koshien Hotel is characterized by horizontal lines, vertical lines, and pavilion roofs” (7), yet the hotel looks neither like traditional a Japanese inn nor a western hotel. (7) Beginning in 1944 the hotel was used as a Navy Hospital; later it was taken over by the American military during the post-war occupation. Presently it’s part of the Mukogawa Women’s University (1).

After the completion of the Koshien Hotel, Endo moved to Manchuria “to pursue opportunities there. He was stuck in China awaiting repatriation after the war and fell dangerously ill” (8). As Wright did with many of his friends in need, Wright helped Endo finacially during this difficult period. (8)
Arata Endo eventually returned to Japan and worked on several projects “with his sons Raku and Tou” (8). Arata worked up until his death in 1951. His final building was Mejirogaoka Church (1950) in Mejiro, Tokyo, Japan (3) which is still used as a Protestant church and is a registered Tangible Cultural Property.
Tumblr media

Although Arata Endo’s work received much criticism as being too imitative of Frank Lloyd Wright, in Japan, there is a growing appreciation for Endo’s work. The Jiyu Gakuen schools outgrew the building and moved to a new location in 1934. The building was left empty and subsequently deteriorated. After its architectural significance was recognized the structure “underwent a two-year renovation in 1999” (9). The building is now designated as an Important Cultural Property of Japan. (9) In 2014, one of Endo’s significant private homes Kaji Villa in Hayama (1928) was temporarily open to the public for the first time, (1) and now is available as a vacation rental. (10)
Arata Endo’s legacy will always be connected with Frank Lloyd Wright, but without Arata’s efforts on Wright’s behalf, Wright may have not been able to successfully leave his mark on a country whose art and architecture had great influence over him and his work.

Those Snow White Notes – 04 – New Guide, New Goal, New Sound
Tumblr media
It’s all thanks to Sakura’s onigiri. When she greets Setsu and he enters the boarding house without responding, she can tell he’s out of sorts, and the only thing for that is food. When she delivers it, he’s on the phone with Wakana, and she gets the idea he’s talking about a girl he likes.
Setsu is terrified of not being able to live up to Shuri’s grandmother’s memory of gramps’ magnum opus, “Shungyou (Spring Dawn)”. But Wakana reminds him that Shuri didn’t know Gramps, and Setsu doesn’t know her grandmother. It’s impossible to try to exactly copy what she heard so many years ago, so he suggests Setsu rewrite her memory, using his own song.
Tumblr media
Kamiki calls Mai to tell her he heard Setsu play, and while he clearly couldn’t show him his “sound”, he still heard the dizzying potential Mai always believed to be there, and so desperately wants to do battle with. Setsu gets a recording of “Shungyou”, but it’s on an ancient cassette tape. No problem; Kaito’s a vintage audiophile!
When Kaito asks why they can’t just play the tape for Shuri’s gram, Setsu says there’s no comparison between a taped performance and a live one. That makes it all the more impressive that even a cassette recording of Setsu’s gramps playing is able to fully transport both him and Kaito into the story of the song, ending with the titular and redemptive spring dawn.
Tumblr media
Even a layman like Kaito can tell how God-level Setsu’s gramps was, and Setsu acknowledges he simply doesn’t have hands quick enough to match the picking at the climax of the piece. While he tries to play it, a passing young man declares Setsu’s sound “pinched and sharp”, i.e. frustrated and confined. He hands him a handmade Tamapiyo chick: something simple anyone can make, yet still causes peoples’ hearts to skip a beat.
Speaking of skipping a beat, Shuri’s heart does so as she watches the stream of Setsu playing that Yui first saw. When Kaito learns she had been keeping it from Shuri, he gets angry at Yui, provoking her into kicking him, saying “Shuri’s all you think about!” and storming off, blushing and mad. Clearly there’s a love triangle in play here, and the addition of Setsu makes it a rhombus.
Sakura forms still another vertex, as she welcomes the acerbic young man who told Setsu to simplify. He learns his name is Rai, he plays hosozao shamisen, and is the son of a rakugo performer. They’re also neighbors! Setsu followed his advice and thanks Rai for giving it.
Tumblr media
The day arrives, and Setsu is clearly nervous because when he first meets Shuri’s grandmother he asks if she’s dead, then warns her not to die before he finishes playing. That’s gotta be nerves! But then he sits down, begins playing a sparser, more stripped down “Shungyou” that he can actually play, thus demonstrating his own new sound based upon his gramps but no longer an attempted perfect facsimile.
The sound transports Shuri’s grandma back to when she was a six-year-old evacuee shunned by those who took her in. She met a poor and starving boy slightly older than her, and she gave him her ration of potato to play something for her. That boy, Setsu’s grandfather, wept after playing, because he ate a starving girl’s potato. When she says it’s okay for her to die because her parent is dead, he said no, you have to keep living.
Tumblr media
As Setsu’s streamlined performance moves everyone to tears, especially Shuri, who witnesses her gran smile for the first time in a long while. Setsu and Kaito saw the Spring Dawn over the mountains that turned a new page in the life of the unnamed subject of the piece—who could be anyone.
Gran’s eyes are also dazzled here by the rising sun over deep blue waves and a purple sky, the night dissolving into darkness. The image of her sitting and listening to Setsu’s gramps playing Shamisen is etched in her mind.
Tumblr media
When it’s over, Shuri’s gran says it sounded different. That’s because the sound she heard back in the day was a very humble sound on a shabby shamisen, and yet it gave her the courage to live. She describes Setsu’s sound as a gentle sound that can heal pain, as it healed hers. She declares that she’ll be able to sleep again without becoming lost in colorless, soundless painful memories.
Setsu’s performance was a great success, and Shuri reminds him, Yui, and Kaito that they’re all in her Shamisen Club going forward. Setsu’s mom, being massaged and pampered by an army of servants, gets word from “the unit keeping an eye on Setsu” that he’s joined the club, and she takes the liberty of entering him into the National High School Tsugaru Shamisen Koshien—the Matsugurou Cup! Looks like Mai might just get her wish of going up against Setsu…

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated near-bottom of my class at Hope's Peak Academy, and I’ve been involved in numerous baseball teams winning Koshien, and I have over 999 confirmed home runs. I am trained in hit and run tactics and I’m the top batter in the entire Japanese baseball world. You are nothing to me but just anotherloser. I will strike you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, ya bastard. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of professional athletes across the USA and Japan and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, stupid. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re AHO-ing dead, idiot. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can knock you out in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands and a baseball. Not only am I extensively trained in armed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States and Japan Baseball Leagues and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable ass off the diamond. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “no that's wrong” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, ya goddamn bastard! I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking dead, AHOAHO.

Why Japanese Baseball Fans Are As Riveting As The Game Itself
Tumblr media
Baseball, known locally as yakyuu (or literally "field ball"), is a national phenomenon in Japan. Masaoka Shiki, one of Japan's four great haiku masters, wrote several poems praising it. Osaka's most infamous urban legend centers around it. It's even more popular than the nation's native sumo. According to data published by Japan's Central Research Services in 2018, 48% of respondents cited baseball as their favorite sport. Sumo wrestling and soccer were well behind, tied for second place at around 25% each.
How baseball came to Japan
Baseball was introduced to Japan in 1872 by an American English teacher named Horace Wilson who taught at Tokyo's Kaisei Academy. This was at the start of the Meiji era (1868-1912), a period during which adopting customs and practices from the West was highly in vogue. The sport didn't catch on nationally until shortly after World War II ended. During the U.S. occupation of Japan, American GIs heavily promoted the sport. Baseball legends like Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig and Joe DiMaggio formed an All-Star league and competed against local players. Women wearing kimonos lead cheers from atop a dugout at a baseball game in Japan in 1965. Bettmann Another thing that boosted baseball's popularity was the support of Japanese corporations, which began sponsoring professional teams. To this day, many teams bear the name of a corporation rather than a city or region.
Japanese baseball today
America has competition when it comes to claiming baseball as its national pastime. The Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB), the country's equivalent of Major League Baseball (MLB), boasts approximately 27 million fans — about 20% of the entire population. Many have pointed out that key characteristics of the game appeal to the Japanese work ethic. Baseball relies heavily on teamwork, perseverance and discipline, which are qualities the Japanese tend to highly value. A young Japanese player holds a ball with writing that congratulates him for his first hit. Shoji Fujita Loyalty is another coveted characteristic. Japanese baseball players tend to stay on one team throughout their careers, though occasionally someone makes it to the U.S. Major Leagues. Those include Japanese star Ichiro Suzuki, who holds an impressive MLB record of 262 hits in one season, and a rookie named Shohei Ohtani who is currently making waves in the United States. The most popular major league teams in Japan are the Hanshin Tigers (Osaka), Hiroshima Carps and Yomiuri Giants (Tokyo). Travelers to those cities can add a game to their itinerary during baseball season, which typically runs from March to October. Baseball fans use megaphones to cheer during a high school tournament in Fukui, Japan. Buddhika Weerasinghe Not only are NPB games extremely popular in Japan, high school baseball is also universally beloved. Each year, more than 50,000 people watch the National High School Baseball Championship live at Koshien Stadium, and millions more view it on national TV, making it the most-watched sporting event in the country.
Differences between US and Japanese baseball
Japanese baseball games can end in a tie, where American rules dictate that teams play extra innings until one team wins. In 2016, the MLB saw a rare tie game where a game was called due to rain; before that, the last recorded tie was in 2005. Japanese fans cheer on the championship game of the 2017 Little League World Series. Alex Trautwig The Japanese use a slightly smaller ball than their American counterparts. Japanese swings are noted to be more compact, with the goal being to advance players rather than hit the long ball. Jeering is frowned upon in Japan, while it's widely tolerated — even expected — at American games. And fighting for foul balls is unheard of in Japan; the ball is simply returned to the nearest usher. Curry, ramen and takoyaki (grilled octopus) are sold in Japanese stadiums as are "American dogs," or corn dogs.
What it's like to attend a game
Tickets typically cost between 3,000 yen to 10,000 yen ($27 to $90) and can be purchased at the stadium on game days (though weekend and holiday games can sell out). Advanced online purchasing is also available, though most — but not all — sites are in Japanese. Japanese baseball games are so exciting and interactive that even those who don't follow the sport have a good time. With so much happening off the field, baseball in Japan is much more than a mere spectator sport. Spectators in Osaka cheer high school baseball players from an area devastated by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami in Japan. The team were the heroes of the national tournament, despite losing 0-7. JIJI PRESS/AFP Fans at a baseball game at Jingu Stadium in Tokyo, Japan. Kiyoshi Ota The steady flow of booze is another factor in the merriment. During baseball games, women walk through the stands with heavy kegs strapped to their backs, deftly serving cold draft beers and other spirits to spectators. People are more than welcome to bring their own alcohol — and food — as long as they pour their drinks into plastic cups provided by the stadium. The way this American sport found an immovable place in the hearts of the Japanese people is perhaps best summed up in a haiku, by Masaoka Shiki: spring breeze this grassy field makes me want to play catch Read the full article

Olympic 2020: Baseball is back in Olympic Sports after a long time
The sport will be back in Tokyo in an even bigger way in 2020, when baseball rejoins the Olympic program at the 2020 Games. “We’re happy it’s back in the Olympics,” said Jim Small, the MLB senior vice president international. “We think it’s only a good thing for baseball around the world.”
Olympic Baseball fans from all over the world can book summer Olympic Baseball Tickets online from our one of the most trusted online ticketing market platform.
Tumblr media
That the sport’s 12-year absence from the Olympics will end there. Baseball is the most popular sport in Japan, and it has been for a long time.
“Baseball is still No.1 on polls,” a best-selling author who has written about Japanese baseball. “Here the sixty percent of people say baseball is their favorite sport,” said Robert Whiting.
Robert Whiting wrote baseball arrived in Japan in the 1870s, when a couple American teachers had their students play it. Then, in 1915, the Koshien high school baseball tournament began. More than a century later, Koshien remains one of the most popular events in Japan. It turns the teen players into national celebrities and draws sellout crowds with TV ratings sometimes as high as 60 percent. Whiting has described it as the country’s equivalent of the United States’ Super Bowl and World Series.
All the while, “America's pastime” has forged deep bonds in the Land of the Rising Sun.
American major leagues have sent star players to Japan many times to play a series of games after the regular season ended, including way back in 1934, when Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig were on the trip. Those appearances were vastly popular, and Japan’s professional league started soon after.
The 2019 games drew very enthusiastic sellout crowds of more than 45,000 fans who would stand and cheer, with a great many wearing Ichiro Suzuki jerseys and holding up signs in his honor. The Mariners’ participation in the Tokyo series was no coincidence.
In 2001, the speedy Ichiro left his native Japan to join the Mariners, where he promptly won the MVP Award while leading Seattle to a record 116 wins. After five and a half seasons away from Seattle, Ichiro returned in 2018 and then retired after this year’s opening series in Tokyo.
Former pitcher Shigetoshi Hasegawa said that Ichiro is so popular in Japan that “he is not just a baseball player. He is like Madonna and Michael Jackson.”
No wonder, then, that there is an Ichiro museum in Nagoya where he grew up. There also are museums for Hideki Matsui and Daisuke Matsuzaka — other Japanese stars who followed Ichiro to MLB stardom — in other cities, just another example of baseball popularity there.
For all of the shared ties between Japanese and U.S. baseball, nowJapan has developed its own unique qualities, too. During their regular-season games, some Japanese fans will bang thunder stix, blow horns and sing in the organized rooting sections. During the Mariners-Athletics series, “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” was even being played at the subway stop next to the Tokyo Dome.
With that fan passion — and with Japan also guaranteed to compete in the sport with a host nation berth — the Olympic baseball games will certainly draw boisterous crowds as well. The games will be played at Yokohama The stadium, a nice, open-air ballpark that is roughly 20 miles outside of Tokyo, and Fukushima’s Azuma Stadium, which is 150 miles away.
Tumblr media
The host country Japan will certainly be among the favorites in 2020.
Almost 60 Japanese players have come over to the U.S. to play in the majors, virtually all after Hideo Nomo signed with the Dodgers in 1995. The most popular of the current players is Shohei Ohtani, both a pitcher and hitter like Babe Ruth was in his early days, and who was last year’s Rookie of the Year for the Los Angeles Angels.
Because they have so good players, Japan has won two World Baseball Classic. But it has not won a gold medal at the Olympic Games, where MLB players haven’t participated, taking home two bronze medals and one silver.
One thing is for sure, though: The Japanese definitely will work hard to win gold, as they always do in baseball.
For instance, players in Japan are required to practice much longer and harder than players in the U.S. Some pitchers sometimes throw 300 pitches in a session each week, while there are fungo drills where fielders take 200 to 300 grounders, which can wear on a player.
“During spring training camp, it’s long, like nine or 10 hours,” said pitcher Yusei Kikuchi, who left the Seibu Lions and signed with the Seattle Mariners this winter. “The more that you perform and do well, though, the more freedom you get. You get your practice and work in, and that’s another motivator to get better.”
Japan could quite possibly win its first baseball gold medal. With many, many fans cheering madly.

Minimum number of people required for a baseball game
Strong folks play baseball. High school baseball is quite popular along with professional baseball. In the period following the war, the 2 leagues enjoyed a long duration of growth. Baseball and life have a great deal of similarities. It is one of the most important sports played in the United States today. You will start by selecting whether you desire a baseball, baseball, soccer banners. You will start by selecting whether you desire a baseball, soccer or baseball banners.
Browse the aforementioned listings of Reds games to discover a game you want to attend. If you plan ahead, make sure you visit the game on a value date, and you'll make sure you get the least expensive tickets out there. Practice the most suitable way with purpose and you'll go in the game with the proper frame of mind. In that case, the game will just be delayed until the rain stops, and play will resume. There's no game like baseball. Throughout time, the game of baseball has developed in lots of ways. The baseball game is merely heaven.
Play tournament the manner in which you practice. The baseball tournament matters a good deal. If you would like to be part of a baseball tournament and dream to turn into a fantastic baseball player, you must have sufficient knowledge concerning the baseball sport.
If you're using mobile phone, you can also utilize menu drawer from browser. You may also wrap the text to make it even more appealing. Apart from baseball icons, lots of baseball spinoffs can be observed. If you understand you must change a name, you can decide on the name and change it in the text editor or only by double clicking it upon the banner and change it from that point. Baseball Player names aren't a necessary field and you don't will need to fill all of them in, but you should be certain to add their player numbers in the field to the right of their names. To enter in your baseball players names there are a number of ways to edit it. Team Sport Banners online order form is the quickest approach to make your baseball team banner.
The baseball stadium today isn't a ticket for seats it is a ticket for adventure. A day in the baseball park is a fantastic thing, but the remainder of the moment, you can slip into a simulation to receive your baseball fix. Hey baby, it is a baseball tournament time. No monthly or yearly fee just like you'll come across different places.
There are a couple ways you can easily discover your game on your DISH ViP receiver. The story was updated. Carly Simon's story is very poignant.
The only means to come up with speed is to train for it by upping your whole body strength and general reaction time. Baseball game speed is a must. There is not any time limit in baseball. It's possible to select a date range for virtually any report. Royals sign 16-year-old Japanese pitcher out of junior high
KANSAS CITY, Mo. — Kaito Yuki is headed to the Kansas City Royals organization instead of attending high school in Japan.
The team signed Yuki, a 16-year-old pitcher, out of junior high to a minor league contract Sunday. He is thought to be the first Japanese junior high school player to sign with a major league club.
“I wanted to play in the United States as soon as possible, rather than playing high school ball at Koshien Stadium (in Japan’s iconic national championship),” Yuki said in statement issued by the Royals.
Yuki is listed at 6-foot-2, 170 pounds and his fastball has been clocked at 87-88 mph. He was born on May 12, 2002.
“My goal is to do well in the majors. Not everybody is given that chance, so I want to do my best,” he said at a news conference in his hometown of Osaka.
Yuki has been studying English before his move to the United States. The Royals are optimistic that after paperwork is completed, he will arrive in August at the team’s spring training complex in Surprise, Arizona, to begin familiarizing himself with the local culture and language.
He would participate in the Royals’ fall instructional league in September and October, with the objective of making his professional debut in the minors next year.
“The first thing is for him to be patient and build up his body, and then if he stays on course, in five years get an invite to major league spring training,” said Hiroyuki Oya, a Royals international scout.
Yuki has been compared to Chicago Cubs pitcher Yu Darvish, who grew up in the same city.
“I’m anxious, but I am more excited now,” Yuki said at his news conference in Japan.
He garnered the attention of scouts last year while representing Japan in a youth tournament in the United States.
“We are excited to add Kaito Yuki to our organization,” said Rene Francisco, Royals vice president and assistant general manager of major league and international operations. “We are very much looking forward to seeing him get started in professional baseball next year. I’d like to thank and congratulate our Pacific Rim coordinator Phil Dale and our scout in Japan, Hiro Oya, for the tremendous work in identifying and signing this young man.”
Yuki is also believed to be the youngest player from Japan to sign with a big league team.
“He’s not even in high school,” Francisco said. “He and his family chose to sign with Kansas City instead of going the normal route Japanese players take. It’s pretty amazing what this kid is doing. Credit to Phil and Hiro.”
The Royals have had four Japanese players: pitchers Hideo Nomo, Mac Suzuki and Yasubiko Yubuta, and outfielder Nori Aoki.
Aoki, acquired in a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers, was the most recent. He was a starter on the 2014 team that won the American League pennant and lost to the San Francisco Giants in the World Series.
