uni diaries: march 2024

evening all! march has been a much busier month than i anticipated. uni-wise, it's been stressful-in-a-good-way, which just goes to show that i care a lot about my work. i got a good grade and really wonderful feedback for my review, which came as a bit of a shock to me as i wasn't feeling confident in it. i think, once uni finishes for the year, i'll write a couple more reviews to practice the skill and work on building a sense of my style. i've mostly been working on my presentation this month. originally, i'd planned to cover the celtic figure rhiannon, but as she will feature very heavily in my essay the presentation took an interesting detour: rhiannon > horses in celtic britain > horse equipment in iron age britain > chariot burials in iron age britain. it's been fascinating, and i love archaeology so it was nice to delve into reports and interviews and get to look at artefacts. i need to finish my script still as the actual presentation happens in a week or two, but apart from that i'm now starting work on my essay; which i have a plan for, and two 'case studies' to analyse, so just need to get reading and researching now!

my goals for this month are:

to work on my routine and time management;

to present my work in class successfully (and hopefully get a good grade!);

and to read and write just for fun again (one book/short story, and write one poem/short story/piece)

27 february 2024 》 found the best cinnamon bun in town 🥰 & thank god i steal little plane milks from work for when i run out at home ✈️ & catching up on station 19 before the final season starts 🔥

last week was not super productive, not gonna lie, and this week got off to a rough start too, but! not gonna let that stop me!

a positive from this week is that my chronic procrastination reached the level when i just start obsessively cleaning (this very rarely happens, i wish it was more frequent) and so my fridge is now sparkling ✨️

caught up on station 19 and currently catching up on chicago fire. both very good for background watching while cleaning or doing the dishes 🥰

finally watched jon stewart's return to the daily show! god i missed that man. i know i know, he was on apple tv, but it just wasn't the same...

meanwhile uni work is not really happening, only in super small increments. i have missed two deadlines this semester already 🫣 seriously need to get my shit together.

i also desperately need to buy new heels for work before my first flight of the season which is only ELEVEN DAYS AWAY - they have to arrive, but i also need to break them in!! (i have like a whole thing i do with new work shoes: put on fluffy socks while hairdryering them for a couple mins so the leather stretches, then i walk around a house a bit to make sure they are definitely comfy) been putting that off. i'm also thinking about buying a new topper bag for on top of my suitcase, my old one is getting a bit worn... ✈️✈️✈️

pre-season flight attendant nonsense aside, i've been feeling very hopeful recently, despite everything. feel like these past few weeks i've been more consistent with self-care than perhaps ever and it's doing me good. i'll get there eventually, i know.

uni diaries: february 2024

well, it's all kicking off now! i mentioned last month that i was looking forward to starting lectures again as i was struggling with the lack of routine. well, i've officially started my next module now, and let me tell you, it's been a lot. i think there's been some kind of clash for a lot of my classmates, so most lectures have just been the professor and me. although it's been really interesting and i've basically been getting private tuition, it's been intense and quite challenging. i come out of lectures in need of tea and a nap lol, but it's definitely a rewarding kind of challenge and i'm really grateful for the level of interaction i'm able to get with my professor too.

i'm working on my assignments, and they're all about the mabinogi; an academic review of an article discussing the mabinogi as a landscape narrative and its christian parallels, a presentation (i'm doing the presentation on rhiannon), and then an essay, which my professor helped me to formulate a focus for today. my focus for the essay is going to be investigating the role of animals in the mabinogi from a literary perspective. i'm super excited to start working on my essay, and actually i need to write a plan/contents page for next week. my review is also due at the end of the week, so it's all go-go-go right now.

i also got my exam board marks back and got a 75 (a first) for my previous module. i'm really happy with that, i'm finding it quite hard to believe i did so well actually. i suppose it's time i start having a little more faith in myself... anyway, how's your february been? if you're studying, what are you working on right now? thanks for taking the time to read this little blog, i'll be back with more astrology posts asap! xo

my goals for march, uni-wise, are:

to get good grades and feel happy with my review

complete my presentation without having a nervous breakdown

set aside 1-2 hours each night to study, and document my studies better

work on developing a more helpful note-taking and referencing system
