janine finds out that she reeeaaally likes using the strap on ava and she also likes being all harnessed up because the tightness makes her feel secure. ava likes biting and janine like being bit. janine likes being marked in general. janine and ava both like being in control but also like giving up the control and ava likes when janine tells her what to do more. janine really likes when ava gets her nails done stiletto style and ava gets the strap a little bit harder those days which means janine gets really nice scratches. they've done it a bunch of times in ava's closet but once they almost got found out they strictly stuck to only in the lady lair (after hours) for janine's comfort

there’s no malicious intent but that doesn’t change how discouraging it feels to have someone look at your hard work and then immediately jump to ”i want more,” yk?? especially using words like when and. etc. sometimes it feels stressful and sometimes it feels demanding. i really don’t think it’s proper etiquette at all :’3 …

Following the trail of clothes down the hallway, they find him asleep on the bathroom floor. Not a particularly surprising sight, on a sunbound solstice. For them, the solstice came with headaches, body aches, fatigue; but poor Milo got the worst of it - fever, and nausea. 

Grabbing the small table fan they kept stored in the hall closet, they propped it up on the bathroom counter, pointing it down and letting it oscillate, to help cool him down. Moving silently through the apartment, they ran a washcloth under cold water in the kitchen sink, grabbing a cushion off the couch on their way back to the bathroom. 

Carefully, they stepped around him and knelt down by his head. His forehead was burning hot under their palm, his skin clammy with sweat. Gently, they nudged his shoulder, trying to shift him over onto his left side. 

"Milo, honey…" they whispered, and he stirred - brows creasing, a groan rumbling in his chest. He moved enough on his own that they could wedge the cushion beneath his shoulders, and when they draped the wet washcloth across his forehead, he shuddered out a sigh. 

"How many times have you been sick?" They asked him, running a gentle hand in slow, soothing circles over his back. 

"Just the once," he rasped, eyes still closed, but leaning into their lap. They hummed, low and quiet, to acknowledge they'd heard; it would be sundown in a few hours, they noticed with a glance at their watch - they'd both start to feel a bit better after that. 

"How about you try and eat some crackers while I heat up the soup that David's mate brought over last night?" They asked him now, brushing back the curls that clung to his forehead. He must have been asleep nearly all day, and with the nausea there was no chance that he'd eaten anything, either. Their own stomach was full of nothing but ibuprofen - the sheer force of their willpower alone keeping them upright during a routine (yet somehow still mandatory) Department meeting today. 

It was easier to endure the exhaustion and the throbbing in their temples when they had a sick wolf to look after, though. Milo's face scrunched as he contemplated their offer, but after a long and defeated sigh, he nodded. But before they could stand and attempt to help him up, one trembling hand reached up, searching. 

His fingers brushed their knuckles, finding their ring and tracing its curve before settling his hand over theirs. The squeeze he offered was weak, but the line of tension in his spine beneath their other palm relaxed somewhat. 

"It's me who should be takin' care of you," he grumbled, the same stubborn words he echoed every summer. They smiled, turning their hand to squeeze back, a chuckle pushed through their nose. In return, they gave him the same words they replied with every summer;

"We take care of each other, don't we?"
