Thus far, we haven’t strayed outside the (relatively) safe enclave of Port Promise. There’s always the possibility of running into trouble on the road when traveling, especially heading into any previously more densely populated areas—y’know, like residential neighborhoods. 

But Cherry’s right, you can’t find everything in a dumpster. (Mostly just a lot of bikes. And loose beakers of fabric dye. Soooo much fabric dye.)

So, what’s a post-apocalyptic scavenger to do? We can’t grow our own flour or sugar. And you can only eat so many salads. I’ve had “decide system for obtaining dry goods” on my to-do list almost as long as I’ve been playing this save. 

The good news is, I think I’ve finally settled on a system... 😳

Absolutely nothing groundbreaking here, but I’ve decided on rolling a (virtual) d20, where the roll determines the total number of items scavenged on the trip.

Example: If I roll a 7, I can choose to scavenge 3 bags of flour and 4 bags of sugar, or 1 bag of flour and 6 of whatever build or gameplay items the community wants/needs. Medicine, books, yoga mats... Anything that could be lying around in an abandoned house and still usable years after the collapse.

For the time being, while we’re just traveling to other neighborhoods in Evergreen Harbor via bicycle, I’ll be sticking with small objects, but eventually, once we unlock new worlds and “fix up a truck” or something to be able to get to them, larger items could be scavenged as well. 

Rolling a 1 means something goes horribly wrong—something gets lost, someone gets hurt, or maaaaaaybe we even lose one of our survivors. 👀 I mean, I am very specifically choosing not to make rolling a 1 = immediate death by townie, but y’know, never say never. 💀 

Inversely, of course, rolling a 20 of course means something amazing happens. So amazing, in fact, that it is altogether undetermined at this point. 😆 But, y’know, open to suggestions!

this is my second ever render using blender and HOLY SHIT,,I FULLY WENT TOO FAR OFF THE DEEP END. this genuinely took me like. 5+ hours bc i was trying to do so much shit that i was FULLY NOT READY FOR. good news is; doing literally anything else in blender will feel easy for me from now on bc i almost drove myself to frustration tears like two separate times

i had to search for a VERY SPECIFIC piece of cc from like. 2014 and LEARN HOW TO USE GIMP and recolor it AND make sure the turtleneck was a matching color bc that was a seperate piece of cc and then completely relearn how to use ts4ripper and blender but i feel like it was all very worth it

ABILITY CHECK | Taiyo is assigned a base stat of 10 wisdom. Riddle #1 requires a roll of at least 15. Riddle #2 requires a roll of at least 18. Riddle #3 requires a roll of at least 20.  Taiyo rolls, 20, 4, 20 respectively. He answers correctly on the first and third riddles, but fails the second roll and provides the wrong answer. For failing a portion of the check, Taiyo is inflicted with a blood hex.

Lansing Legacy!!

I found the random legacy and was inspired by the intro formatting from @adair-the-bard​, please show him some love!!!

As I said above, this is the random legacy challenge! My founder is Jaymes Lansing, a trans man with questionable fashion sense but somehow pulls it off (and not to mention is a cyber criminal :0) and his wife is Presley Ames, who you may recognize from a previous post but with some epic improvements (including arm crutches!! I was so excited when I found this cc and they’re perfect for her!!) who’s a stylist!!

When I saw this challenge I knew I had to participate as I just got my first ever set of dice and wanted to use them! I will be using a d20 for the categories that have less than 20, and for the rest I will use two to three dice of my picking and add up the totals to get the roll number.

Category 1:

Marital Status

For the first roll I used a D20 and D6, and added one to the total to even out the lack of 1 due to there being 27 potentials in the rules. I rolled a 9 and a 5, and added 1 which totaled to 15: Couple: Live together with a romantic interest and use the help to raise the kids.

Category 2: Number of Kids

For the number of kids, I used a D6 and a D4. I rolled a 5 and a 1, which totals to 6: 2 Kids

Category 3: Career

For this category, I had to make multiple roles, for the type of careers my Founder and my other sims can have, as well as for what career it is. I started off rolling for my Founders career with a D6 and D4, and got 8:  Unconventional Careers. I then rolled for what unconventional career it would be. I excluded numbers 18, 19, 28, 29, 30, 31-36, 39, as I do not have those packs, and then used a D20, D4, and D6 to roll. I rolled a 9, 1, and 2, totaling to 12:  Cybercriminal: create viruses and hack for money. Then, I rolled for my spouses' career. For career type, I rolled a total of 4: Conventional Career. For the career, I rolled a total of 21:  Style Influencer – Stylist

Category 4: Generation Goals

Here, I rolled a D20, D6, D4, and D8. I got a total of 19: Pet Shrine [C&D]— Adopt, create, or bring home a stray pet. Through the generation build a shrine to the pet.

Category 5: Misc. Fun.

Here, I used the same dice as Category 4 and added 2 to the total. I rolled 21: Regular Diner [DO]— Once a week, the entire household must go out to eat at a restaurant. All three courses and something to drink should be ordered.

Starting a Decades Challenge

I’ll be following the rules as per this site’s instructions, but I’ll be adding some other things to the gameplay that I think will make it more fun. Such as rolling a d20 when a sim ages up (or gives birth) to see if they’ll survive that life stage (which I’ll do until probably the 1960s) and sending male sims off to war for longer and give them more chances to be killed. But for the most part I’ll be following along with the rules as said. Also, a good chunk of the houses and lots I’ll be using will be from the gallery because I can barely build half-decently. 

Right now, we start in the year 1890 in a little house in Henford-On-Bagley.

Tommy Beckham is our legacy founder. He’s a quiet young man, but has a great head on his shoulders. He dreams of being a famous poet, and spends most of his days typing away on the typewriter or carving wooden statues to sell.

His wife, Caroline, couldn’t be more unlike him. She’s a very social young woman and often has her head in the clouds dreaming about painting. She tends to the home and garden, and spends her free time painting or going to market with her friends.

Tommy and Caroline are saving up their money right now to afford a larger house for the big family they dream of. Surprise surprise, aspiring poets don’t get paid much! They’ve got a long way to go until then.

Caroline is expecting! She’s quite happy about the news and Tommy was absolutely thrilled when she announced the pregnancy. The house is definitely too small to accomodate more than just them, but Tommy’s started getting paid for his books and has been publishing his poetry and the produce from the garden has been selling well. In no time, they’ll be moving into a bigger house for them and the new little one.
