Revisited the Windy City last week, and I spent some of the time exploring the city yet again. Here's two shots of the Tribune Tower and the Christmas Tree that's in front of it. The Tribune Tower was once the home of the Chicago Tribune and Tribune Broadcasting. From what I understand, the radio, TV and Newspaper media divisions moved out of the tower in 2018. Consistent data about the state of gun violence in the United States is hard to come by, leaving organizations like the Gun Violence Archive to fill in the gaps. More than two-thirds of the country's most populous cities recorded more homicides in 2021 than the previous year, with at least 10 setting all-time homicide records -- with the majority committed with a firearm, according to a CNN analysis of police department data. Luckily I have a few friends that live in Oakland, so the last time I went to the Bay Area, I got to know Oakland better...I always just stay in SF, so glad I didn’t. I love Oakland. I don’t know how to describe it...it is an awesome eclectic mix of amazing historical buildings, new modern development, a strong sports culture, diversity on many levels, past deterioration and current rebuilding...which creates an amazing, rich character to the area. . .
