god, after hearing focalors explain everything, and seeing the "scenes" with furina, i cannot possibly IMAGINE just how hard furina must have been panicking in that trial. imagine living for five hundred years for a single purpose, struggling every day to keep up the charade, completely in the dark about WHY you're actually doing this and just desperately hoping that the person you met in the mirror will come through for you, and then all of a sudden the people you've been trying so hard to protect start turning on you, zeroing in on the one thing that you've been keeping secret for all these years, threatening to undo five hundred years of work. godDAMN, i feel so bad for her...

the problem with any buffy reboot casting is that spike could truly only have been played by a baby-faced man in his 40s, and angel by an abercrombie model who then rapidly underwent a second puberty after the first season

Finishing up S&C page 143 this evening on stream (twitch.tv/ekweaver) starting 6:30 PM US Central. After that I’ll be both on the road AND juggling two freelance jobs with early January due dates, so no streams for a while.

How have Indya and Indira's relationship been going? I know they're not as close as Indya and Hope, but now that Indira has a life of her own, I'm just hoping she's been a little more open now that she's an adult. Just had the feeling she was a loner.

Friend!! Let's clear that up so there's no mistake!

They're close!! Indira and Hope are very close to their mom. You don't see it too often now because the circumstances are different but its still messy in the chat.

Hope left the nest with a boyfriend and plans for college in a different world (see.... see what I did there?). Indira left with a financial gift with multiple zeros and the freedom of independence. She really doesn't need her parents for much right now as she's exploring simulated life on her own terms.

However, Indira's parents are just on the otherside of Tomarang, in jogging distance for her dad so, if she needs them, they aren't far at all.

Indira doesn't have a close circle of friends but she likes that. Same way her mother likes that for herself, they kinda are loners but they like it. She's also very open about what she wants. The thing about Indira is she is more like Indya than any of the the three kids. She keeps how she feels close. She doesn't run her mouth. Indya is still bestie, tho, and they talk almost every day. In fact, they went shopping together for Indira's little "vacay".

I think the only time we didn't see her "open" was when she was afraid for her friend and tried to protect him even though he was a bitch (Rah). As usual, stay tuned because you'll certainly see more and everything is always subject to change.

Is all that you know inspired by friends at the table? Some parts of it remind me a lot of some of the sci-fi series

Hey! Great question.

Friends at the Table (particularly Counter//Weight) was a huge inspiration for me as a GM. It really changed how I thought about some of the core 'rules' instilled in my head about TTRPGs from my old high-school DnD 3.5 days.

Thinking more visually about scenes, imagining things happening in the game as more of a TV show than a novels was VERY helpful to me in understanding player agency and how they fit in to larger narratives.

The Virtues in ATYK, bear a lot of aesthetic similarities to the Divines in Counter//Weight and Twilight Mirage. No denying that I took inspiration there. The idea of these techno-spiritual machines which represent something as abstract as "Duty" or "Rigor" was so... cool to me.

Another inspiration from f@tt that I've gone crazy with are names. I think it was the New Earth Hegemony that had some excellent names like Declan's Corrective, and I think that alone made me realize that you can really call people whatever you want.

It made me really think about what names are. They aren't just ID's referring to individuals, but they're WORDS.

Like, when we think of the name Austin (Walker or Ramsay seems appropriate here) a lot of people will hear a NAME, an identifier. But Austin means something - Great, Magnificent, Majestic (taken from a baby website do not @ me latin scholars).

So I like to have people walking around with names like MILK CAKE or Mahogany Cola, or Glass Newlane.

I'm rambling, but yeah Friends at the Table was a big inspiration. I miss the days where I used to have to drive for work and got to listen to that podcast ON THE CLOCK.

this fluttery chirostenotes is accompanied by her (barely visible and Only Ten Pixel Wide) lovely little siblings tonight! named for their oddly narrow hands and one pointed, straight claw, this oviraptorosaur was thought to have used its talons for crevasse probing like modern day eye-eye. the representation here has feathers (that other caenag that wouldn't have allowed for it to do as such, sadly!
