your head saggily rested over the desk, grumbles and complaints regarding how you were struggling to breath from your binder eliciting from your plump crimson lips. Dazai reclined on the chair next to the desk you were slouching on, with a cheeky grin on their face. you had been wearing your binder since morning and It was choking you.

"you should take it off, y'know. you've been wearing it since morning." dazai advised, holding a amused grin on their face from your evident insistent. you hushed them, disregarding their advice completely. "I'm fine." you insisted. however, you glanced at them with an annoyed expression, clearly bothered as to how they weren't having any problems despite also having been wearing their binder since morning too. "plus, haven't you also been wearing your binder since morning? how are you not having troubles...? at this point, you're making me curious what binder you're using." you added. "huh? I don't wear any." dazai replied with a cheeky grin adorning their lips and your glare directed towards them sharpened.

"bitch. then how the hell did you flatten your chest?"

"I ate my boobs."

"what."

When Dazai has a bad day, Kunikida is less harsh on him. He brings extra food when he comes back from his lunch break.

When Dazai has a bad day, Atsushi offers to help him do his paperwork and takes him out for lunch.

When Dazai has a bad day, Yosano leaves him extra bandages and little sweets on his desk.

When Dazai has a bad day, Kyoka leaves them small items that remind her of him, such as a pretty leaf or a little ornament she found.

When Dazai has a bad day, Fukuzawa will leave notes for him to find, small praises about his most recent case.

When Dazai has a bad day, Ranpo will leave little sticky notes telling Dazai how pretty he looks or how smart he is, usually with a chocolate or a lollipop taped to it.

When Dazai has a bad day, he comes home to his apartment. On the counter is a note and a small bag. Dazai doesn't need to look to know what it is, but he does so anyways. Chuuya left them a nice homemade meal. The note was somewhat aggressive to the typical eye, but Dazai could see past it.

Needless to say, Dazai didn't try to commit for a while.

dazai shouldn't be thinking about you more than he should be. you’re just a colleague—a transmasc colleague—who's recuperating at home after your top surgery. maybe he’s sad that the person he talks to all the time isn’t in the office. or maybe he’s bored, with no one to distract him from his chaotic mind. until you showed up to work, breaching your medical certificate.

“shouldn’t you be at home?” dazai plopped down beside you and laid his head on your shoulders. a shiver ran down your spine once his brown locks touched the skin under your chin. he’s careful not to put too much pressure on you after your surgery.

“i just missed work. the president only allowed me to roam the office and print out reports.” you yawned and leaned your head on his head. you missed the smell of his soft hair—the smell of cheap supermarket strawberry shampoo and conditioner. the two weeks you were locked at home were nothing but boring. having nothing but ample rest, yes, but you missed the crime scene and the mundane scent of lavender air freshener at the agency. what’s better than to cut your official medical rest short and be back at the office? president fukuzawa grimly and reluctantly let you resume work on one condition (maybe more than one)—investigating a crime scene is prohibited.

“and i missed you.” dazai mumbled, poking at your thigh with his index finger. there was something very childlike about him right now that made you want to squish him. you restrained yourself, but the urge to tease him slipped.

“what, do you like me or something?” you giggled at his pout. he’s quick to sit up straight and look away, denying your accusations in a flustered manner.

“i don’t like you like that, who said i was into you?” he felt his cheeks grow hot with shame. “i have no such taste in.. men..?” the sentence was quick to disappear when the word “men” came out as a whisper, a question to himself. what are you to him?

dazai walked away without sparing a glance, with a hand on his forehead, and you caught a glimpse of his furrowed brows. it’s good for dazai to do some logical thinking sometimes because harbouring feelings for you is the last thing on his mind.
