I don't know if you've answered this before but what do you predict will be the ending for DGrayman? I think we all think that Kanda (my boy's got literal death flags everywhere) and Allen will die, but what about everyone else? How will the world be saved?
I really apologize for taking so long to get to this ask, but I've been actually thinking the matter over and over. My answer is probably a little off the chart regarding to the actual question, but this is all I can muster with the current information we have (up to chapter 250). This will be a tad long but I'll try to keep it brief.
But the thing is: it's impossible for me to make a prediction. The beauty in Hoshino's writing is that, while she scatters little details for us to catch and plants seeds very early on, helping us find out certain reveals ahead of time (Allen being the 14th's host, Mana being the Earl; there were very early signs for things like these, things of the sort), knowing such information still isn't enough to give us a definite outline of how the story itself will play out.
That's masterfully done writing right there, and I admire her so because of it; not many shounen/seinen mangaka nowadays can pull this off with the same grace as she does.
Back to your question, much like the majority of the fandom, I believe Kanda will die at the end and there are two reasons for that: one is that it's been hinted at (we could even call it foreshadowing) since Kanda claims he wouldn't be able to die in peace without returning the favor to Allen - not to say he means anything other than "one day I'll die and then I'd take this regret with me to the grave", but we can only get the feeling he has dwelled on the thought (and also possibility) of dying, sooner than expected, especially with the weakened state of his seal.
The other reason is that this would be the most gratifying ending for Kanda, as he would be able to reunite with Alma. He lived his entire life searching for that person and longing to reunite, so that would be the most logical route to take - as well as the best, happiest ending possible for Kanda. After all the horrors the Seconds went through, they both deserve eternal peace.
As for Allen... call me crazy, but I believe there is a chance, albeit slim, that he makes it out alive. I'll need to bring up some things from Chapter 250 to be able to elaborate on this, so here's your warning not to click the Read More if you're avoiding spoilers.
One thing I've observed is that Hoshino plays a lot on word meanings (which unfortunately translation can't convey efficiently) as well as red herrings. Ever since we found out Allen's the 14th's host, he's been considered doomed to get erased so we're playing a clock-ticking game, waiting until that happens.
So it seems that there are only two possibilities: that Allen either gets erased by Nea, or that he dies, sacrificing himself for everyone's sake in the ensuing battle against the Earl that is possibly bound to happen. I can easily picture Allen doing the latter, but the latest chapters gave us something else to consider: Apocryphos' meddling.
We still don't know the full details as to why, but Allen is both deemed as an angel as well as a lamb of sacrifice to the Heart. Something makes me think Apocryphos might be trying to 'craft' the perfect host for the Heart by making use of Allen.
It just aligns with everything we know about Apocryphos as an entity: for someone that is a sentient Innocence whose existence gravitates around the sole purpose of protecting the Heart, why is it so obsessed with a specific accommodator, to the point it even quite literally turned Allen into a blank slate (Nea has confirmed so)?
I'm led to believe Allen is not the Heart, that would be far too easy and predictable. But that's not to say he can't become the Heart. We don't know if the Heart is sentient (all Innocence seem to have sentience to an extent regardless) or if it has an accommodator, and if there is one, if this person isn't out there waiting for the perfect candidate to pass the Heart on to.
This is all just speculation, of course. But it's something that's been on my mind for a while, as I've tried to understand Apocryphos' end goal.
And in the end, if Allen and Nea have become allies due to their shared goal (ending the war and saving Mana), that could also mean that they both die together, as that would be the reunion of Mana and Nea as one, as well as the reunion of Allen with the Mana he so loved.
But then comes in another valuable variable that is Link. It's highly likely that he might sacrifice himself and bring Allen back if he falls, but because of how Atuuda works, that would mean exchanging his own life for Allen's.
There are just a lot of things that could go either way, and that's how Hoshino is so good at keeping us guessing. I often say that I find theorizing anything that goes too far into the future of DGM to be pointless because of how sharply a new, unseen reveal might shift the current scenario.
The latest chapter is building up the expectation that Allen will meet his end soon, especially since the Zoogle Bookstore entered the picture. And that is exactly what's keeping me from being able to predict anything worthy of note; because what they unravel there will very likely be a major game changer not only to Allen but to all involved - which means, by extension, everyone involved in the Holy War.
Another thing keeping me from theorizing anything more solid is Lavi. As a Bookman, he's a witness to history itself, and his whereabouts/status are extremely relevant to map out an end game. The most popular theory is that he's the one telling Allen's story, as it seems the D. in the title refers to "Dear Gray Man".
I can, however, also see Allen as the potential narrator of this story. As for whomst this Gray Man is, only time will tell.
I could go on and on with this, and not get anywhere near what'll truly happen. It's difficult to reach a conclusion in what will happen at the very end for the aforementioned reasons, but if there's one thing I can say, is that this current universe's loop will be the one to end the Holy War, so the Black Order and the Clan of Noah should cease existing as organizations.
Innocence would very likely cease existing as well, having fulfilled its purpose, so all accommodators would be freed. With the end of the war, also comes peace for the Memory of Noah, freeing its hosts from the millenia-old anguish that bound them to a perpetually-destroying world. That would leave the remaining survivors free to do as they please with their lives, away from the war, at last.
First and foremost, DGM is a story about love and hope, even in the darkest of times, and most fans can resonate with such - it's not rare to hear from a fan how this series has helped them hang on when things were looking rather dim in their personal lives. DGM's story is a tragedy, but a beautiful, bittersweet one, just like real life. Thus while I don't see it having a perfect, neatly sanitized ending, I don't see it having a kind of overly dramatic 'everyone dies and the planet explodes' kind of ending either. It would go against everything Hoshino has built all along, after all.
I apologize if, in the end, this wasn't the kind of answer you were hoping for, especially with how long it got - and I did keep it brief, really! But thanks to you and whoever may be reading until here. ❤️

The afternoon started out great: you had no more classes to catch up on, the only homework left was the Hwan project you had to work on with your teammates, and your roommate wasn’t in the dorm for the day, which was perfect for a peaceful study session. Your music has just the vibe you were looking for to work and you were absolutely into the subject you were looking through.
However, your plans changed the second you heard the special notification sound you put on your discussion with Jungkook. You took your phone and smiled at his text asking if he could come annoy you and you couldn’t say no to him.
To say you were glad he came back in your life was an understatement; seeing him at your parents after so long made you realize how much you were craving for someone you could hangout with like nothing were wrong with you. Because, as much as you love your roommate, you didn’t do much together outside of these walls.
To you, Jungkook was the best person that could take this place. The best friend’s younger sibling turning into a brother for you and the best friend itself.
You two have been hanging out for around a month already and you could say it was the greatest month you had in a while. From time to time, Jungkook and you would eat together during lunch break, or he would come at your dorm for a movie n’ pizza night, and you even spent an afternoon at your aunt’s with him – your aunt being very much thrilled to see you having fun with someone about your age – video calling Junghyun.
Talking to him has been a tough time, you couldn’t deny it, but knowing everything was going well with his life afar helped you to turn the page you wanted to read over and over again like the first time. You fancied every of the paragraphs in this page, and you hold onto them for a long time but it was time to move forward.
A lot had been sorted out during this video call.
“I didn’t understand why you left at that time,” he confessed after you told him the whole story. “We were always together, so having to go through my days without you felt like hell.”
“I could hear Hyung crying himself to sleep every night for at least a week,” Jungkook started to laugh, to the great desperation of his brother who tried to defend himself.
Of course, you couldn’t help but laugh as well, yet felt guilty for being the cause of his tears. “I would give everything to go back in time and say proper goodbyes.”
His smile, even if you could only see it from the screen of Jungkook’s phone, was the sweetest. It always has been. “You couldn’t do anything about it, it’s okay Pearl.” You missed hearing this name coming from his lips. Pearl. He was the only one allowed to call you that way.
“I know, but I left you two like a thief, it doesn’t feel right.”
He shook his head, sighing. “And you shouldn’t live in the past like that, it’s not like you left forever! You have Jungkook-ah with you now, and I’ll make sure he takes good care of you, okay?”
You sighed in surrender and a smirk appeared on your lips. “You know I took your place as the favorite one? He told everyone, on Twitter!!” You started to tease him with your eyebrow when he started to scream, having Jungkook dying in laughter. “You owe me an album now.”
♠♥♣♦
Before Jungkook could arrive at your dorm, you made sure everything was alright to welcome him properly. You and your roommate weren’t messy but it was always better to be sure.
It wasn’t the first time he would meet you almost unannounced, but these unexpected moments you spent together were the bests. You would talk about everything and nothing, or wouldn’t talk at all, you would laugh at loud, sometimes cry, silently admire each other, but most of all share glimpses of life you would never forget.
It didn’t take him long to actually be at your dorm, after all you didn’t live too far from each other on the campus. You opened the door to a happy Jungkook holding two bags of takeout food, claiming there weren’t a specific time to eat bibimbap.
“How am I supposed to stay healthy when you literally make me at unconventional times every week?” you jokily complained while he made his way inside your dorm.
He let the food on the kitchen table so he could hug tightly you as soon as his hands were free from the bags. “I know you don’t mind, Noona, I wouldn’t bring some otherwise.”
“Tch, as if you don’t force me.” You could have sounded convincing if you weren’t hugging him back and if Jungkook didn’t knew you. It didn’t take him long to be able to read you like an open book and find any sign of joke or discomfort in your way of talking and being, always making sure you were feeling at your best.
Letting go of you, you could finally see the mischief shining in his eyes and his proud smile, but you tried to keep a neutral face.
“Wanna eat now?” he enthusiastically asked.
Your non-verbal answer made him jump of excitement, taking out the food from the bags to place them on the coffee table. You both sat down on the sofa your roommate had to beg you to get, ready to make an overdose of bibimbap. After a few minutes of enjoying this marvelous dish, Jungkook asked if it was ok to put some background music while eating, which you agreed with a nod and a thumb up, mouth too full to answer.
His favorite playlist now playing on the speaker, he carefully sat back on the sofa and the vibes were just right.
“This is so fucking good, god.” You commented, fully enjoying your meal and your friend’s company.
“Come on,” the latter started with a smirk, “just call me Jungkook.” You could only answer with a hopeless look followed by an eyeroll.
♠♥♣♦
Once the coffee table was clean, you shamelessly fell onto your couch, not wanting to move any more. Jungkook sat next to you, probably in the same state as you were due to all the food you managed to eat in a so short amount of time.
Your friend’s music seemed louder now that neither of you were eating nor saying anything, but it was peaceful. Without you realizing, your foot was following the rhythm of the song that was currently playing, unaware of the deep talk that was coming.
“Noona?”
“Hm?”
“Now that your condition is getting better,” he started slowly, “will you keep the cold persona to push people away?”
You slightly turned your head to look and him and shrugged. “I’m unsure.” You sighed. “I can’t risk letting them get hurt because of me.”
He locked his eyes with yours for a few seconds and continued. “Are you only protecting them?”
You straighten your position and bit your lip, now looking away. “I can’t help being selfish on this one, buddy. I can’t let myself get close to someone if they’re gonna leave me as soon as they learn I might collapse because of my disease.” You shifted again on your couch, this time to be able to see Jungkook without moving your head all the time.
“If people leave you behind after they know you’re sick, they never deserved you. It would be their loss” he stated with the most serious tone you ever heard him use. “But noona,” he continued with a softer voice, “you can’t push everyone away all the time or you’ll be the one losing the opportunity to have friends who won’t leave your side.”
He was right, you knew it, but you couldn’t help it. “Come on, Kook, I’m already the black sheep at the campus,” you grunted, “people won’t hesitate to avoid me like the plague if the ever learn I’m sick.”
“And that would be their fault to be such idiot!” His sudden outburst surprised you and you only started at him, blinking slowly. “I mean, they already are idiots for spreading rumors and gossiping about you but you got the point…”
You keep staring for a moment before shrugging. “The rumors are funny and creatives, not gonna lie,” you silently laughed. “And who doesn’t like to gossip? Even I do that from time to time, you know?”
“Well, I don’t!” You weren’t used to see him so involved in such conversations, you didn’t know if it scared you or amused you at that point. He had his eyebrows frowned, lips pinched, and a will to prove a point. “I can’t stand it when my friends talk about you.”
“But…” you started off hesitantly, “aren’t you friend with Jung Hoseok and Kim Namjoon from some of my classes?” You waited for him to nod to continue. “It’s normal if they talk about me, we kinda spend time together every day.”
He sighed, bit his lower lip thoughtfully, then answered more calmly. “Yeah, I guess it is for them, but the other do that to and I don’t like it.” He stood up to go to the kitchen and you followed him with your eyes while he was getting two glasses of waters for the two of you. “Remember when I told you I fought with them, when we saw each other at your parent’s?” You nodded. “Well, they were talking about you in the group chat we have, after you went to the hospital for a week, and I guess it was one too many times and I snapped.”
He came back on the couch during his little speech, giving you one of the glasses he was holding.
You remembered well when he announced you that he fought with his friends, he didn’t tell you the reason back then and you didn’t ask him either: he was already feeling bad about it and you didn’t want to force him to tell you why. You also remembered how happy he looked when he told you more about them, the way he met Jimin and Taehyung in high school, why they already knew Jin and Hoseok, how thanks to these two they all met Namjoon and Yoongi and how cool it was having to spend time with the six of them in college. He told you the basics of their personalities and how fun they are to be around, and the way they were all caring for him. So, obviously, you were more than surprised to learn that you were the reason he had a fight with them.
“Oh” was all you could say for a moment, staying silent the time for your brain to process everything. “You didn’t have to, you know?” He raised an eyebrow at you. “I mean, it’s not a big deal? And they’re your friends, I’m sure they don’t mean any bad.”
“Why would it be linked?”
“You wouldn’t be friend with bad people, I know you Jungkook.” You smiled at him. “And you told me you want me to meet them, so you believe things can go well between us disregarding the rumors and gossips.”
He took a sip of his glass of water, put it on the coffee table, then shrugged once he was back in the sofa. “You’re my family Noona, I want them to treat you well.”
You melt at the confession, putting your glass on the coffee table as well only to be able to hug him properly. “You’re gonna make me cry, buddy.” You could hear him giggle near your ear and your smile grew bigger. “You’re the best brother I could have asked for, you know that?”
“Of course I know,” he answered without a beat, which earned him a tickle in the ribs. He squealed and this sudden attack and you could help but laugh at his reaction. Before he could try to escape and throw you at the other end of the dorm, you went back to your initial place, trying to regulate your breathing.
You let the excitement and Jungkook’s threats die a little, taking a new sip of water before deciding to add more to the previous conversation. “You have great friends, don’t doubt that.” You were now looking at the ceiling, and he was looking at you. “From what I can see in class, Hoseok and Namjoon are great people.” You turned your head slightly to lock your eyes with his. “Plus, your wish for me to meet your friends is already part fulfil ‘cause, you know, I have a project to do with the two of them for one classe, which means I’ll obviously have to talk to them.”
You sent a text to Jungkook as soon as you learned who would be your teammate that day, happy and nervous at the same time to be with them for the project. He was as happy as you when he got the news.
He was now sitting sideways with his arm on the back of the sofa, a soft smile on his lips. “Are you sure it will be okay? I’m sorry for how Namjoon reacted.”
It would be a lie to say you didn’t know why Namjoon seemed so wary about you, or at least what you though could be the reason why he would act that way. You never wanted to hurt him, but you believed you did, seeing how his face broke down went he heard the news. And even though you were used to those kinds of reactions, to know it was your best friend’s friend who didn’t want to work with you sadden you. You needed to do something about it.
“Yeah, it will be easier now than two months ago, I guess? Thanks to you I improved a bit in talking to other people.” You winked at him with a smile on your face. “And don’t need to apologize, it was weird but it’s gonna be fine.”
“Does that mean you started to talk to people other than your roommate and me?” Jungkook hopefully asked you.
You sat up, scratching your arm, looking away. “About that…”
“Oh my god!” he excitedly shouted, leaning over you like a kid you just promised to buy ice cream for. “You have other friends! What happened to the ‘I don’t want to get close to anybody’ talk you pull earlier? Are you gonna replace me? Why didn’t you tell me about it before? You didn’t want me to know about it? How could you do that to me??”
“Please, Jungkook, breathe!!” you laughed once he finished all his questions. “It’s only one person and it’s through texts, you can calm down!”
His smile was so big and his eyes were so bright, his excitement for knowing you had a friend outside of him made you admire his existence until he started screaming again. “You have to tell me more, Noona!”
“Well, sorry to disappoint you but I can’t.” You saw the confusion on his face and continued before he could ask anything. “It hasn’t been long since we started to talk, and we didn’t share any information about ourselves. I mean, not that kind of information,” you corrected yourself. “It’s more about random texts to get through the day than anything else.”
His eyebrow frowned, he was staring at you like if he was trying to detect any lie in what you said, scanning your soul. You didn’t say anything, only looking at him until he switched back to his happy puppy self in a blink of an eye. “Okay!” he exclaimed, “I’ll believe you for this, but as soon as you have more you have to tell me.”
You rolled your eyes. “I will, don’t worry.”
The rest of the afternoon went on smoothly: you played video games together and you won most of them, tried to pick a movie for half an hour before throwing out the idea to actually watch one, and you listen to him talking about basketball while he was dancing his heart out on a random hip-pop playlist he found. In between, you got a message from your roommate saying he won’t be at the dorm that night either, and you shared another fact about Johannes Vermeer to your new friend.
You felt at home.

Hello! Hope you are doing well. Wanted to ask what you thought of Jikook’s rainy day fight?
Hiii. I
I have some thoughts about it, but honestly I feel like there's not much to have any opinions about the fight in itself because we don't really know the details. There's literally no context to it.. We barely know when did it exactly happen T_T I feel like there's a huge difference between 2015 jikook having an argument vs. 2016 jikook having an argument. Even if I don't think they were together or in love in 2016, feelings seemed to be more intense than in 2015. So, yeah. Idk maybe it's not a huge detail to others but to me it would make a difference. (Not that it matters but, in my mind, it happened in 2016 hehe 😛)
More than giving me any idea about their relationship or dynamic as a whole, honestly, it just gave me a bit more insight into their own personalities. We don't really know what they were fighting about or reacting to, just that those reactions (JM telling JK that he wouldn't care about him, JK crying and going after him, JM waiting for him) happened.
I think it conveys how strong Jimin's feelings for JK were. Or just how deeply he feels in general, to be honest. Jimin did say in his latest bday live that the feelings he has for the members are not a matter or liking them or not liking them, but they're far more complicated than that. I think his words (the translation) were something like "I've developed feelings [for the members] that I can't explain". If he's in love with JK, and has been so for a few years, imagine the intensity... just IMAGINE. Like, all those complex feelings he has for the other members but if what he feels for JK is romantic love (which I personally believe it is) then it's 10000 times worse. When you think of it like that, him being the way he is with JK on public just makes so much sense. He's more calm these days, but yeah... think Jimin and the way he acted with JK in 2014, 2015, 2016. There are jikook clips from those years I can't watch without dying from the second hand embarrassment.
Jimin getting so upset as to tell JK he would cut all ties with him and walking away just makes so much sense. They could've been fighting about the pettiest of things and it would still make sense. Just because the feelings in between were probably already not exactly platonic.
JK cried when Hobi was about to leave the group before they debuted and he had only known Hobi for a couple of years. He cried when he fought with Jimin, and even though he had already known him for more time, I think that too is a testament to JK's personality, how deep his feelings for the members and Jimin were already, and that he probably doesn't cope well with loss. In the case of the fight with Jimin, he also was at fault (I mean, he said he was sorry for it) and JK maybe now doesn't seem to care as much about what people think of him, but back then he cared a lot. So I think guilt and the fear of loss plus his kinda complicated, probably on-the-verge-of non platonic feelings for Jimin pushed him to run after him.
I've always believed that for a long time before maybe getting together, their relationship was one where that possibility was always present. I don't know how to explain it but it's something that I've experienced, too and I can't put it into words. A kiss me are you joking yeahhh hahaha... or am I? Kind of relationship. And that's one of the reasons they've always had such a sizzling 🤪 chemistry. There's people you just have that with, even of you're not dating or in love with them. Whether that develops into a romantic relationship or not is a whole other topic.
It's why I think the "you will only understand jikook if you've been in a long term relationship married since 1780" it's kind of lame... There are so many types of relationships, I've been in long term short term friendships that were way too flirty friends that I've hooked up with and never actually dated, etc. I see all that in jikook. I don't always see long term couple. Sometimes I don't see a couple at all. Sometimes I just see two guys who aren't straight and are attracted to each other and having fun because they can and they want to. I don't think people who see them as long term are wrong, I just think it's dumb to believe that only people in long term relationships can "validate" jikook as a couple. Like I could also be petty and say maybe all of you haven't been in enough relationships and can't see all the other possibilities. You could even "understand" jikook just by having had a beautiful, fulfilling, functional, close friendship. Sometimes friendships are even more special than romantic relationships.
I think of the same scenario of the fight with JK and any other member and like... I seriously can't imagine JK running after some members. I won't name them but yeah, take your guesses. Maybe I'm wrong, tho.
I can't help but to think also about how JK is probably the type who reacts to ultimatums more than he reacts to familiarity lmao. I've mentioned before about how I think that JK took Jimin for granted for a long time, when they were younger. They had that argument and Jimin made a serious threat of not caring about him anymore and JK reacted to that. For most of the time, people are there for us and we don't really think about what they mean to us until their presence in our lives is compromised. I think that was the case for JK. Losing Jimin, something he probably never had to worry about because JM was just always there, suddenly became a reality and he didn't want that to happen.
So, yeah. I never saw it as something that was directly an explanation for their relationship or dynamic back then but like I've said, to me it's more about what their reactions during that fight say about them as people, as two separate guys. And as a sidenote, it says a bit about their relationship but I've never felt that was the focus.

WBaWC Deep Dive: Part 1/2
Lots of philosophical ideas are presented and explored in this game. In this post I aim to point them out. ZUN stated this in his SCooW interview:
"There isn't any sort of obvious theme to the story this time. It's mainly just an introduction of "there's a world like this out there". There's a variety of things going into that world, particularly satire, but if you ask what the work wants to show you, there isn't much in particular. "Here's this world called the Animal Realm, and here's these various elements spread throughout it."
And after doing a ton of digging... yeah, I think he's right. I was kind of hoping there would be something unintentional, but because the perspectives of the human and beast spirits aren't really shown, and only the spirits of their rulers, taking an actual message away from this game is very difficult. That said, I feel with this game more than any other, it's very easy to identify why certain decisions were made. Why is the first boss a stillborn child? Isn't that pretty random? No, let's look into it.
The story this time is quite complicated, so you may not be able to see the whole picture if you just play as one character. To be fair, you may not be able to do so even if you clear them all. (lol)
This will obviously be based on my own interpretation. Long post ahead.
Tumblr media
Eika Ebisu. The soul of a stillborn child, and a master of stacking stones. Importantly:
She and the rest of the stillborn child spirits at Sai no Kawara stack stones as work every day. They stack stones as work, in Shinto mythology this is as repentance - because they brought sorrow to their parents by dying too early. Kind of morbidly amusing, I guess, but ZUN makes it a point to say this:
She's also a god of fortune who's able to change simple, pointless work into something that's enjoyable and worth doing, and who can make the best out of any bad situation.
Her ever-cheery demeanor, bright intellect, and penchant for constantly holding exciting new events like stone-stacking contests makes her the Sai no Kawara's resident idol, beloved by all the children's spirits there.
With the spirits of stillborns, yes. I feel like it's more hopeful to portray them as having fun in the afterlife, you know?
Being a god of fortune, Eika is able to make stone stacking FUN. The simple labor of stacking stones for these kids is no longer labor for repentance, but a game, thanks to her (NOTE: labor.) For that reason she is the resident "idol". She is probably the most healthy idol in the game, according to the ideology ZUN seems to be presenting, but we'll get into that later. There's more to this character.
In philosophical discussions of animal rights, when we ask "what is it that makes humans worthy of moral rights", we try to find a criteria. Something that humans have that nothing else does. That criteria then needs to be defended as being a good reason for humans to have moral rights. Used to, sentience was the argument made for human uniqueness. Humans are sentient and conscious, while animals are, in Descartes' scummy terms (sorry, I hate Descartes) "mere automata". We worked on this assumption from that idiot for years, but recently it has been scientifically proven that animals, at LEAST mammals, birds, crustaceans, cephalopods, and reptiles, are sentient, and it is summarized in a document called the Cambridge Declaration of Consciousness.
So this proves a problem for those who believe animals aren't worthy of moral rights. So then, what else do humans have that animals don't? Why are we special in deserving moral rights? Well, that would be our intelligence, right! Even the smartest animals are only about as smart as a five year old (this is not actually true but let's just pretend it is, they're smarter). But then, if intelligence is the criteria for moral rights, then what exactly is the system here? Does that mean that children are less worthy of moral rights than adults because they aren't as intelligent? Does this mean that people who mentally disabled and not viewed as "intelligent" by parts of the populace should be less deserving of moral treatment?
This has been a veryyy simplified summary of the discussion, but here's where it gets even more interesting. You see, here, two controversial ethical topics meet - abortion and animal rights. Because if you want to argue that sentience OR intelligence are the criteria for moral rights, then in either case, early fetuses absolutely do not have moral rights! This is a problem for anti-abortion arguers, which is a funny intersection in my opinion. I bring this up because, of course, while Eika is not an aborted fetus as far as I know, she is still a fetus. She is quite out of place in a game where the rest of the opponents up to Keiki are animal spirits, right? But no, the fetus and children in general actually have a very philosophically interesting place in animal rights discussions, because oftentimes to argue that animals are not deserving of moral rights you also have to take away the moral rights of children. In case this whole thing has left you confused, the side I took was that sentience IS the criteria for moral rights, meaning both animals and children have moral rights, while fetuses don't.
Now, what does Eika tell us about this? Well, nothing. Just that ZUN seems to have thought about it, really. But there are two keywords that apply broadly to WBaWC as a whole when talking about Eika:
Labor
Moral value
So let's continue.
Tumblr media
Urumi Ushizaki. Seeing a farm animal after a stillborn child really set off some alarms. Her name translates to "moist beauty". Not sure I needed to know that, but I came across it in my research so now you do too.
She carries a stone carving of a baby. Once she gives the baby to someone to hold, she makes it heavier and submerges them in the river. She was an awe-inspiring youkai who took advantage of humans' kindness. However, since she's forbidden to attack humans in Gensokyo, she currently runs a fishery at the Sanzu River.
If one tries to cross the river without a shinigami's permission, they'll be attacked by creatures like extinct giant fish and plesiosaurs. Nowadays, she spends her time domesticating those giant fish, and makes a living wage by sometimes selling them in Gensokyo.
A baby then a cow with a baby. Urumi is the "Parental Guardian of Ancient Fish". She apparently domesticates them and makes a living wage (interesting terminology?) sometimes selling them to Gensokyo. But, it's implied that as a fisher, she actually cares about these fish. In Reimu (Wolf)'s story:
Reimu: I'm fine, thanks. If it's just fish I'll have to deal with, I'll filet 'em no problem.
Urumi: That so? Fine by me, then. I won't hold back when I turn you into food for my beloved ancient fish!
When Reimu threatens her fish, Urumi gets defensive. She refers to her fish as "beloved" and suggests valuing them over the protagonist, even though she isn't supposed to attack humans. In the SCooW interview, ZUN is asked, more or less, what's up with the fish in the Sanzu river? He responds:
It's full of fish that died, or went extinct. They can't go to Hell or the Netherworld after they die, you see... since fish and insects are in a bit of a separate category, the way I think about it.
So, remember that distinction we made earlier when talking about Ebisu? How the animals that have been proven to be sentient are mammals, birds, reptiles (cephalopods, crustaceans)? That excludes fish and insects, and here, ZUN makes that distinction as well. Fish sentience is still pretty up in the air at the moment. But that said, if there's any unintentional message in WBaWC, I suppose it would be here.
The fact that Urumi is able to domesticate these ancient fish in the first place implies a certain degree of sentience, and moreso, even without that, Urumi pretty clearly ascribes moral value to her fish in Reimu (Wolf)! In almost all routes, she defends her fish and suggests she'll feed the protagonist to them, but Reimu(Wolf) makes it the most clear that she actually cares about them. Which, when you think about it, of course you'll care about the things you domesticate.
Also Urumi's design is so cool and yet no one draws her anymore. Justice for Moist Beauty. There is more to be said about the livestock theme of this character, but we'll get back to that when we talk about Yachie's profile.
Tumblr media
Kuwaka Niwatari.
Her true identity is that of Niwatarijin, the god of wild chickens from before they were domesticated. People tend to think of chickens as being sort of weak and cowardly, but she's a polite and just god who values equality and altruism above all. She's quietly considering what she can do to help raise the status of chickens, who've been reduced to a food source for humans.
If you've been following along so far, you probably understand already where this is going. A few words may stand out here. Domestication, equality and altruism above all, status, and "food source for humans."
Kutaka is probably the blatantly nicest character in WBaWC, who tests you because she's worried that if you go further, you'll be hurt (after winning, of course, the protagonists insult her). There's not just a ton to say about Kutaka's character itself, but there is this tidbit in ZUN's interview:
Chickens don't usually have a very positive image attached to them. Calling someone a "chicken" certainly doesn't make them sound strong either, right? And the only other common impression of them is as food, so I tried to give her a dignified feeling.
So, ZUN has deliberately designed Kutaka to be dignified, noted that she is a character who values equality and altruism, and included that one of her motivations is to raise the status of chickens who have been "reduced to a food source for humans." What's fascinating is that by creating Kutaka this way, he has given us a message - ZUN believes, to a degree, that Kutaka's motivation is a just one. Kutaka is intended TO raise the status of chickens. So let me say this. To those of you who made fucking chicken wing jokes after this character was revealed:
STOP. FUCK YOU. STOP.
If you'd like to repent, you can start by stacking stones. Trust me, it's fun!
Now, all of this is cool, but part 2 is where it's going to get interesting - when we finally get to Yachie's profile, the description of the "Animal Realm" of Hell. I'm excited, but I need to make dinner. Part 2 coming soon.

I understand your disagreement, but for me times much slower... it always will be always has been, you can at least acknowledge years even bring an artificial human, correct? Well if history is doomed to repeat itself, I'll likely see it in the process all over again, and looking back on cruelty I wasn't apart of has never been my strong suit. After all think of it in my simple perspective, time is at a pause for me growing is a minimum since the day my people are born, we just sit back never changing till a wing rip isn't properly taken care of, I'm not disproving histories value, I'm saying for me it lacks value. We just live on and on, and it's hardly easy to rip a wing oneself, so I've seen many a time what history is. And honestly, for me choosing not to take part is all I can do, so I see it from all sides. I think I was there during what you all call the archon war, it was rather brutal, and it felt slightly pointless? Maybe I'm wrong here, but I saw no reason why they had to. Some of these archons didn't fight, some did, but still people lost their lives, whether they fought or not. In others cases history has more value, for example people who aren't essentially condemned to either live forever or have the most painful death, can understand it... they in the end find use for it. While I've edged on that subject with how testing on the puppet I did want to know if the puppet had blood, I'm rather weary of blood, I do believe there was another nation that had died five hundred say years ago? Though my perspective of times different so in translation I mightve lost it. Every prototype has value, but I do not wish to see what bloodied others hands again, nor do I like the idea... it's so uncomfortable for me. I do not hate living forever whether lonely or not it's more valuable than an agonizing death, as all our pain receptors including three glands in our right wings, and two in our left producing a regenerative ability do exist in our wings alone, while our organs due persist we could easily just sleep off losing a heart, as one of the regenerative glands will take the place of the lost organ for a period of time as it creates anew. Dying is difficult yet possible, in our people it's the most painful thing, I watched people beg for death because after some point in time people lost hope, I watched my own kill eachother because they couldn't find hope to live, I heard the screams as it took them four days to die. They were so loud... and reading of blood shed in the past is no way for me to live, perhaps you're capable of death in a less brutal way, perhaps living you still lack understanding of what my history and others history can be perceived as; that only means that all can disagree with my notion, but they can not disagree with my point of view, as it's a point of view only my people can see, and the other two... I was shocked to find had been asked to kill two of the five survivors, and now resign to sleeping their years away. Its not as if I seek to disprove history, but to not be reminded of things I've already seen.
I'll be able to meet there likely, to deliver the books and stones I do still have, and that she had offered to me. But do forgive me if I refuse to let you speak to her, hearing her beg for death leads me to prefer letting her stay as she insists on death or to sleep... so you will not be meeting her in any years to come.
I... am not going to comment on my age, well, I don't know the exact number of years anyway, but I do think that no matter how long or short one's life is... It always has meaning. What that meaning is, I cannot tell you. But life is never pointless. History is recounting lives before, during and after us. I respect your point of view and wish not to trivialize your suffering. I guess... I just find it odd that as a wanderer you're not more inclined to research history. Then again, that could be chalked up to my personal biases.
Those... regenerative abilities sound truly miraculous. I would like to study you. If you would aid me in running some experiments, it might lead me to some groundbreaking observations. If... you don't mind.
I do not recall you mentioning a "she" before. Who is she?

(LU) Ridiculous Optimization: The Art of Finding the Right Tool for the Wrong Situation
Chapter one: They're big pots, really
Wild's Hyrule was, for lack of a better word, a pain.
Now, if you were Warriors, who regularly tangled with nobles and their ilks as part of his duties, you might describe it as 'a temporary yet persistent sort of agony, so scandalous, good sirs and ladies'. Or, if you were Sky, who serenaded his Zelda with loving devotion, the description might resemble 'a land broken but resisting, a primal kingdom for the ambitious to remake'.
But the average Link was neither, and the general sentiment came out as 'Wild's Hyrule is a giant pain'. (One should recall that both Legend and Wind existed in the general sample and drastically lowered the ability to describe Wild's Hyrule in polite company.)
The weather conditions were, all in all, quite tolerable outside of the occasional lightning storms which threatened to violently roast them all (Time especially). Wild's one recurring grip being the rain making it impossible to climb cliff sides and barely-standing-towers – which, in all honesty, had become Twilight's favorite weather for this exact same reason.
The few tribes of monsters could provoke violent swearing, in good part after the Links had assimilated the color system that ruled Wild's Hyrule. (Four could never look at golden monsters the same way now.) No, no, a Link knew to adapt to their circumstances and would learn all the right tricks to fighting any sort of monster that showed up in his path.
In fact, Time had gone on record to say that he'd gone on an adventure in a much more stressful kingdom, because at least the moon was only red and not looming.
The real challenge was so many of his enemies being outright mini-bosses at least. Wind's Hero's Charm had confirmed their health being far superior to the average roaming monster, and, to the general disbelief, added that no, Lynels did not count as minibosses for some goddesses-forsaken reason.
“That's three!” Warriors called out, slashing away at one twisting limbs. “One to go!”
“Get down!” Hyrule shouted just in time for Warriors to duck under a blue-ish laser.
The two heroes felt air woosh over their backs, cold and sharp despite the explosion that ravaged a rock formation down the hill. Despite the sheer damage done, none of them gave the ruins even a passing glance. Normally, some Link like Four would wonder out loud about the marvels of technology that had led to the creations of robots as powerful as the Guardians. That would, unjustly, earn him a slap upside the head from the others who just wanted them all exterminated.
But, if anything, their mechanical structure should be glorified, as unlike almost every other enemies the Links met in their travels, the Guardians could not be further enhanced by black blood.
No, the Guardians were a special pain in the Links' anatomies all on their own.
Legend had already written down the tirade he reserved for the Sheika elders that had thought beamos weren't mobile and powerful enough in his journal. One day, he would travel to the past of Wild's Hyrule and give them all the dressing down they deserved and it would be beautiful.
Three grappling hooks latched onto the last Guardian's limbs just in time to stop it from running over the downed Warriors and Hyrule. Now, against, say, a Lynel or an Hinox, pulling such a maneuver might have given the monster pause, but the Guardian's head merely rotated and aimed its tracking light at Time.
He alongside Twilight and Sky dispersed to avoid the lightning quick retaliation and even then, Sky felt the flames lick at his heels.
Rolling away, he ended up in a huddle close with Legend and Four, behind a large, mossy rock. "You know," Sky said, nervously chatting instead of saving his breath, "they kind of remind me of pots."
Legend's eyes twitched. “Ah, yes, they're tougher than most of my bosses, faster too, shoot laser beams, but they are a little round-ish. I see the resemblance.”
"Oh!" Four exclaimed, thunderstruck. "I've got it! Cover me," he shouted to the others.
Without even a moment's consultation, Wind and Wild both rushed out of their hiding spots and pelted the Guardian with bombs, their supplies of arrows depleted during the ambush. It only made the Guardian's base tilt slightly, though, a few seconds were all Four really needed. His hands found the handle of the cane with the ease of many adventures' worth of practice.
Not a second too soon either, for one of the Guardian's limbs had snaked through the barrage and swept Wind aside. And now threatened to grab the little rolling pirate.
Four swung the twisted branch. A staff, Wild realized as a glittering ball of energy flew off its head and struck the guardian head on. For a split second, he allowed himself to hope that it would have a bit of an effect on the thing. He'd seen (schemed for, though he never admitted it to Twilight) a Guardian struck by lightning before, and it had shrugged it off as easily as a breeze. Those things just wouldn't-
The Guardian flipped over.
Wind's shocked cursing translated the general gobsmacked bafflement of the eight heroes over five feet tall.
The Guardian landed on its head, its top carvings digging into the soil. The legs frantically expanded to try and right it, but could find no purchase. Their articulations had not been created to allow the legs to reach the head area. Combining those facts effectively condemned the feared contraction to reenact a flipped turtle's dying moments, with half the dignity.
Wild staggered backward into Time's waiting arms. “Wh-what, I don't… how?”
“Magic,” Time replied with the air of a wise old man, “you never know what kind of stuff it can do. Also,” he cleared his throat and spoke louder, “watch out for the laser beam, boys."
Hyrule and Wind flinched back from the upside down Guardian, like kids with their hands down the cookie jar. The eye turned from blue to red.
"It only shoots in a straight line," Wild said, recovering from his shock.
The dreaded red dot stuttered in place, stuck in a very narrow margin.
“Yeah, but can't it turn its head?” Hyrule asked hesitantly, not looking away from the dot.
They distinctively heard the noise of some gears inside the thing turning, like a low-humming buzz of energy. Where the head met the body, the whirring flashed in rapid succession.
The head remained unmoving.
The other half of the guardian span.
“It's going to start flying now,” Wind said with clear apprehension.
Twilight nodded to that. The motion was eerily similar to a mad peahat preparing to soar the skies.
Legend shot them both an annoyed look. “With those legs?”
“It's a Guardian!” Wind protested. “They don't just fucking flip over and die?”
As if to punctuate the point, the Guardian's beam shot out of its frantically beeping eye. And, as if to immediately contradict itself, the beam missed them all by a mile, roughly, though it did strike on a stray lizalfos.
“Huh, didn't notice that one,” Warriors mumbled, as Legend burst out laughing at the madness of it all.  “What kind of item is that anyway?”
Four gave the twig a twirl. "The Cane of Pacci. It flips things over."
Legend scoffed and crossed his arms over his chest. "What kind of wizards gives their name to a staff that's good for flipping things over? I know magic-users can be lazy bastards, but that's a bit much, even for me."
Four shrugged, unfazed. "Who knows? It came in handy surprisingly often. Case in point," he waved an arm toward the flipped guardian.
A shrieking noise caught them off-guard, momentarily.
Wind had lodged a giant broadsword in the guardian's eye up to its hilt. The whirring machinery slowed, smoke leaking out of its gears and plates. If it hadn't been made completely helpless before, it certainly was now. Warrior looked inordinately fond of their young and bloodthirsty pirate for finishing off a helpless killing machine.
“Four,” Wild said, his face frozen in the most serious expression any of them (except Twilight) had ever seen.
“W-what?” Four replied, startled by the hands grabbing his shoulders.
“Name your price. Do you want rupees?” Wild asked, pulling out his slate. “Because I will bury you under more rupees than you've ever seen before.”
“Anyone else feels like that came out vaguely threatening?” Hyrule pondered.
“Vaguely?” Legend snarked, prompting Twilight to facepalm.
Wild apparently heard nothing but the silence Four was shoving his way. His voice hiked up in pitch. “Armor? I've got more sets of armors than I know what to do with them? Ancient Sheika armor? It's super mechanical, you like mechanisms, right?”
Four raised an eyebrow. “I like understanding how they work. Can you imagine me wearing your stuff? I would have trouble moving.”
“My recipe book?” Wild tried again, desperation creeping in his voice. “It's not written yet, but I can do that. Four, please?”
Twilight gasped. Hyrule's stomach loudly growled. And the rest nodded sagely. Wild truly was pulling out all the stops to get his hands on that cane, besides outright theft (which none of them were exactly strangers to).
“… No.”
The fingers let go of his shoulders, now aching from the grip.
“I thought we were brothers,” Wild whispered, leaning against Twilight for support. “Backstabbed like nothing.”
“I do actually need that item, you know?” Four replied, halfway between amused and annoyed.
"Alright, boys, no fighting," Time announced, his mouth struggling not to stretch into a smirk, "and new strategy. If we run into a guardian, we let Four handle it. All in favor?"
The surge of agreement ranged from 'mildly sorry' (Sky) to 'gleeful' (Legend, of course, and Wild).
"Oh come on!"
BONUS:
The eight Links stared at the Guardian stumbling over the fields of Wild's Hyrule whilst Twilight mimed around like a drunk puppeteer. Wind's pictograph was out and flashing the moment the herd of bokoblins shrieked in panic and fled for their lives from the clearly malfunctioning monstrosity. Wild's Sheika Slate had been given to Hyrule for the task of recording the moments whilst he mourned yet another way the Goddesses had seen fit not to help him fight off Guardians.
“Anyone else feels a little sorry for them?” Sky asked, scratching his head as the camp was bulldozed through.
“Not as such, no,” Hyrule replied without skipping a beat. He might also have a few bruises on his shoulder from their last encounter.
“How do you laser with this thing?” Twilight grumbled, face scrunched up in concentration.
“Pfft, it had to be the bumpkins that gets the power to control ancient automatons,” Legend snarked, his hat still fuming from where he had dodged the Guardian's first beam.
In the distance, the bokoblins suddenly exploded.
“Ah, unbridled rage,” Twilight deadpanned. “That'll do.”
The Links carefully took a step back. And didn't get closer until Twilight had driven the Guardian off a cliff. You never knew with the quiet ones. The second the possession was over, however, Wild broke through the ranks with a determined look, opened his mouth-
And Twilight beat him to the punch. “Your recipe book.”
“Deal.”
“YES!”
“Wait,” Four called, narrowly avoiding the death glare Wild sent him, “are you sure you won't need it when this is over.”
Twilight shrugged. “I mean, I've used it all of once after I finished the dungeon with it? My Hyrule's not exactly big on statues and contraptions to magically possess. Good food though? Not like I'll ever stop having to need that.”
“Spoken like a true bumpkin.”
Poor Legend never saw Wild leap through the air with the righteous fury of an avenging angel to defend the honor of his mentor, the best man he ever met and the soon-to-be recipient of a great deal of cakes.
NOTE:
The thought process went like this:
Tumblr post noting that Guardians look like an ancient pottery art from thousands of years ago. TLDR: The Guardians are Elder Pots awakened to take revenge on all the Links for their fallen brethren.
Guardians can't touch Link if he climbs on their head.
Minish Cap includes an item that flips pots over (to open minish gates, but shh, who cares?)
Ergo, Four can one-shot guardians.
Twilight's just there, because I took pity on Wild and the Dominion Rod is absolutely useless after its dungeon. Not like Twilight would miss it.

Hey, everybody. Who wants to see some super vintage, really low-quality footage of an incredibly hot guy?
Ok, so I am dating myself with this post BIG TIME.
Anyone who views this page on the reg knows that I enjoy sharing images of beautiful people I admire here, but usually without much jibber-jabber about them (and it's probably better that way). But I came across something today that jogged special feelings, and maybe some of you out there may appreciate it.
Come with me, gentle reader, to the summer/fall of 1996. I, along with my little sister, had given up summer break to stay far away from home to help my mother to take care of my ailing grandparents Monday through Friday every week (my aunt cared for them Sat & Sun, mostly since she did their bookkeeping, otherwise we would've lived there 24/7). I loved them with all my heart, and though I enjoyed spending so much time with them, I'm sure you can understand that, with failing health, it was not always quality time. I had also brought along a summer course to try to get a leg up for the next school year, because I assumed I would have plenty of downtime when they were resting (sis & I were home-schooled at the time anyway). The summer turned out to be much more stressful than any of us could have anticipated.
Between homecare (which I totally thought I was prepared for -- and I SO wasn't), seeing people you adore in a terrible state, and the added burden of trying to do schoolwork at the same time, I felt hollow. We would come back home late on Friday nights drained physically, mentally, and completely. My step-father would pick us up, take us back home, and usually cook supper, or pick up some special take-out, or treats to try to soothe some of the stress. If you've never been through it, let me tell you, one of the hardest things in the world to do is watch as someone you love is dying, and you know there's nothing you can do to stop the pain; all you can do is lessen it for a short period of time.
Dad knew this, so he tried the best he could to make the weekends as much of an escape from the preceding week as we could have at home, until eventually, the weekends were gone, and we 3 would only come home intermittently. Things got very difficult.
We got home late one night, and basically all collapsed with exhaustion. The next day, on his way out the door for work (Dad worked 3 jobs), he makes a comment or asks a question or something about me leaving a videotape in the player. I have no idea what he's talking about, so I play the tape anyway. It was the video I'm sharing with you today. It seems silly, I'm sure.
My Dad is a kinda tough guy, biker-type. At the time, I was 99.999999999% sure that he had only the vaguest idea of what my crush looked like (and honestly, circa 1992-1997, the guy had barely been a blip on most of North America's radar - pictures and media were very hard to come by), and had possibly heard me mention his name maaayyybe twice (it was generally an argument for me to bring up boys -- let alone MEN, as the case may be).
So, imagine my surprise when I play this tape. I don't know how he did it. I mean, I know how the process is done, but seriously...did he look in the TV Guide? Was he surfing channels and heard my crush's name, and then waited for, I dunno, a butt-hundred minutes for him to finally appear?
The point is, this guy watched probably ALL Siempre en Domingo AND Sabado Gigante to record the interview and musical segments of my (at the time, kind of obscure) crush -- and, uh... we don't speak Spanish, guys. Nada . And it was so nice to find this when I was unpacking, and relive that feeling of knowing that Dad could've watched some football, watched some rasslin', gone out for a chicken dinner, idk, done ANYTHING ELSE, but he, on at least 2 separate occasions, took time out to make something just for me that he knew I would enjoy, even if he didn't like it/couldn't understand it (he had surprises for my mother and sister, too, but I couldn't tell you what they were). This gesture, though requiring very little in the way of physical or even emotional effort, was just the pick-me-up I needed to reset, at least for a couple hours, and it was so nice to be back there, in that moment for a short while today. It really is about the little things.
As for the clip itself, the quality is poor, you don't have to tell me this. The videotape itself was already used (he had taped over one of his shows...bless), and by now it's over 20 years old. Add to that the fact that it got a lot of love back in the day. Like I said, this crush was not really that well-known at the time, so this video was really all I had outside of photos, clippings, and watching soap operas. Further add to that the fact that it's not your standard upload. It's my poor ass recording a television set with my cheap phone while holding it as still as I can in my hands. I think I did ok.
Time changes all things. My Dad and I never really got along once adulthood hit, and we still don't get along now.
And, once I had decided I would never be able to speak Spanish well enough to woo my crush, I was movin' on by mid-1997. While I was always kind of the "boy crazy" type, there are very few that I maintained a serious interest in or attraction to for more than about a minute. The subject of this post is one of them, and 2 others, and both of those guys are dead.
And lemme just tell you, I am so glad the subject of this discussion is living his best life, because I wanted him to have the world, and in the summer of 1999, he got it. Everyone knew his name, his face, his voice (his ass, "jajaja" ). But I feel like the world didn't all know the guy I was so ~encantado~ with during a large portion of my misspent youth.
So, allow me to acquaint you with "my mans" 1993-1997:
Ricky Martin - Te Extraño, Te Olvido, Te Amo (Siempre en Domingo 1996)
youtube
(Google Translate says: "I Missed You, I Forget You, I Love You"...Indeed)
If you read all of that, you are a blessing, and I thank you. I really wish I had a better reward for your time than this video, but I felt true, pure joy when I found it, and I wanted to share it.
P.S. If you want a little more, let me know. I have 2 more songs (both upbeat, so he ~dances~), and 2 short interviews. If there is any positive response, I will get some equipment to transfer them to digital properly (been intending to for other things anyhow).
Have a lovely day, bbs!

Hi Link ! Thank you ahead of time if you answer this ask, I absolutely love your metas ! Besides the actual manga & a few other TG Blogs, it's the only thing I sit down to read, so thank you ! Do you think that maybe the reason some characters are so caught up on those few moments of happiness for years is because typically, Ghouls don't live very long to begin with, & so every moment is precious ? (Granted, this doesn't apply to all the characters who do this since not everyone is a ghoul.)
Thank you! I’ll try my best to keep making enjoyable content for you to read.
That’s a good observation... V.
It is in fact the central theme of Haise’s birthday poem.
“Even if you have no memories of being loved, for as long as you have memories of loving someone, you can continue to live.”
…But how is someone who has never been loved be capable of loving someone else?
A child who wasn’t able to receive the minimal love they required at the time they needed it the most will continue to gaze at the illusion of affection and never know how to love until the day they die.
Well, how about me? Can I continue to live?
Translation by @makyun [x].
How is it possible for somebody with no memories of being loved to continue to live?
This poem itself is rather complementary to Furuta’s own poem which addresses the same topic but taking an actual stance, rather than simply raising the question. “I have no memories of being loved, therefore I see no value in life at all.”
How stupid.
What’s so joyous about birthdays, I wonder.Never in my life have I ever felt grateful for being born.
But for you people, how are you still celebrating your life despite how hopelessly stupid or ugly you are?
I am genuinely impressed.
Doesn’t it make you want to die?If you die, you can get cured you know. (This is true.)
Translation by @makyun [x]
In a manga whose theme is blatantly live, there is no character who advocates for death more than Furuta. Other than the times he’s been drawn teasingly pointing a gun with his head, or playing with a noose, this theme of death and suicide are things clearly wrapped around Furuta’s character.
Tumblr media
I bring this up now because while the manga does indeed explore the fact that it’s understandable that these characters would think this way, that these poeple so starved for love and affection would grasp onto what few moments of happiness they have. That it is therefore not wrong for them to want love when they’ve been neglected for it.
However, while it serves as an explanation for why these characters are the way they are, eternally unable to progress, and how they reached this point as well it does not excuse them. It is not an excuse because if it excuses any character in the manga, it would excuse Furuta as well.
Tumblr media
if we follow that logic, then Furuta has every right to obsess over Rize because she’s the only small point of happiness he ever experienced in a life where he was basically born into slavery, told he was not going to live long, and then forced to kill.
Tumblr media
It is perfectly understandable that anybody born in those circumstances would not only develop a worthless view of life, but also an unhealthy view of romance. After all, where exactly would Furuta find a model for healthy romance in the Washuu who repeatedly rape women for the sake of breeding as if they’re cattle, then throw the children away and forget even what their names were.
Furuta, probably moreso than any other character in the cast is raised in an environment completely devoid of love. In repsonse to that, Furuta has no regard for life and his destructive activities are all a direct and thoughtful response to how he was raised.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
If Kaneki’s acts of mass murder are excusable because he does them from an origin point of being starved of love, then what makes him different than Furuta? Is Furuta worse because he actively robs the agency of his love obsession in the most inhumane of ways again and again?
In that case does Kaneki arbitrarily being nice to a few people he is close to, but not caring about the vast majority of the people around him, either letting ghouls starve, or going berserk and killing hundreds of humans any better? Getting eaten by dragon probably instantly removed a lot of people from their agency as well.
I’m not saying that Kaneki is somehow worse than Furuta. I’m just saying if we deem Furuta inexcusable, than none of these other characters who are desperately looking for love can be excused in their motivations either because they come from a loveless background. Wanting to cling to the few happy moments you have is understandable and sympathetic, but ultimately it’s not an excuse you can use to  stop yourself from moving forward.
"Can't repeat the past?" he cried incredulously. "Why of course you can" (116).
(Hint, Gatsby fails at repeating the past).
Not only is it philosophically wrong, but the story does not allow it. There are of course several relationships right now where characters still seem to hung up on who they were in the past moreso than who they are developing into being. (Akira and Amon mainly), but even in those cases have you noticed that neither Akira nor Amon have developed as characters at all since getting together. Or even... done much besides stand next to each other?
Anyway, onto the examples where the idealization of the past is not allowed.
Tumblr media
It quite literally kills Naki. The irony here being that Yamori was not really somebody that was worth dying for at all. Every small kindness that Yamori showed Naki was outweighed by his abuse. We have every indication that Yamori tortured Naki too, and if he did not do that he beat him, broke his bones, threw him out of windows.
Naki clung to the absolute bare minimum amount of kidnness that was in Yamori’s memory because it was all he had yes, but in that decision he also failed to notice that in many ways he was a lot better than Yamori.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoguro and Shousei followed him for him, and not Yamori. Naki’s death isn’t really some beautiful act of sacrifice for the memory of his beloved brother. It’s ironic and sad, because Naki truly couldn’t grasp even in the end that there were people who loved him more and much more healthily than his brother who beat the shit out of him and treated him like garbage.
Then we have a few chapters later, Hinami’s own sacrifice. For almost the exact same reason, Hinami overidealizes her brother especially the one of the past.
Tumblr media
She nearly dies trying to earn the praise and support that Kaneki was just never going to give her, because just like Hinami Kaneki is a grown orphan who does not really understand love, and feels like he himself is constantly weak and needing assurance from others.
Tumblr media
It’s this fixation on the past that robs Hinami of any true ability to grow, because the Kaneki that she wants to acknowledge her isn’t even there anymore. That was like five Kanekis ago. In fact, the current Kingneki did not even talk to Hinami once the entire arc, until she was just about to die.
However, Hinami herself is not like Naki, Furuta, or Kaneki who had absolutely no exposure to love when they needed it the most growing up as children. In fact for the first thirteen years of her life, Hinami was happy, loved, secure and cared for.
Tumblr media
Yet, we see that loss has inspired the same reaction in her. However, to reach a conclusion to this, Ui shows an example for what these characters need to realize.
Tumblr media
Ui who was one of the most hung up characters on the past, to the point of believing he could genuinely revive the dead eventually admits this. That all of his clinging to the past was just his own seeking of solace.
All he wanted was a reason. An excuse. His seeking of returning to the past with Arima and Hairu became that excuse and it helped him believe he was seeking comfort, but in the end it was flimsy, not any real solace.
It’s a lesson that i want Kaneki to eventually grasp as well. That he doesn’t need to base everything in his life on whether or not other people around him love him or not.
Tumblr media
There’s more to life than simply wanting to be loved. There’s more experiences to life than just the positive ones. Which is also what I think Kaneki is staring to move towards.
Tumblr media
There’s value in both good and bad experiences, so there’s no reason really at all to simply cling to the good ones and sip only unsullied water.
Tumblr media
That’s why the move to the future in Tokyo Ghoul has always been framed as a destructive and terrifying one. It’s comforting to linger in past memories, to stay in familiar relationships, to simply fall back into place without having to figure out how things have changed and how you have changed.
However, to reach a better future you have to risk losing those things. Sometimes you might even have to destroy them with your own hands, to make room for something better.
It’s scary to let go of those things, it’s destructive, it could possibly even be self destructive, but ultimately the only way things can change for the better is if you allow them to change.

A wedding invitation
yet not all were open to respond. and not all those who did respond were allowed to stay.
and why? what is the “proper” attire for such an event?
it is the pure clothing of humility and grace, the grace of becoming known as a True daughter or a son of God who is Light and Love itself. and this is only seen clearly in the True illumination of the Son.
the single path (the narrow road) that leads the heart (the eternal spirit) to be “Home”
Today’s reading of the Scriptures is from the book of Matthew with chapter 22:
[Parable of the Wedding Feast]
As was his custom, Jesus continued to teach the people by using allegories. He illustrated the reality of heaven’s kingdom realm by saying, “There once was a king who arranged an extravagant wedding feast for his son. On the day the festivities were set to begin, he sent his servants to summon all the invited guests, but they chose not to come. So the king sent even more servants to inform the invited guests, saying, ‘Come, for the sumptuous feast is now ready! The oxen and fattened cattle have been killed and everything is prepared, so come! Come to the wedding feast for my son and his bride!’
“But the invited guests were not impressed. One was preoccupied with his business; another went off to his farming enterprise. And the rest seized the king’s messengers and shamefully mistreated them, and even killed them. This infuriated the king! So he sent his soldiers to execute those murderers and had their city burned to the ground.
“Then the king said to his servants, ‘The wedding feast is ready, yet those who had been invited to attend didn’t deserve the honor. Now I want you to go into the streets and alleyways and invite anyone and everyone you find to come and enjoy the wedding feast in honor of my son.’
“So the servants went out into the city streets and invited everyone to come to the wedding feast, good and bad alike, until the banquet hall was crammed with people! Now, when the king entered the banquet hall, he looked with glee over all his guests. But then he noticed a guest who was not wearing the wedding robe provided for him. So he said, ‘My friend, how is it that you’re here and you’re not wearing your wedding garment?’ But the man was speechless.
“Then the king turned to his servants and said, ‘Tie him up and throw him into the outer darkness, where there will be great sorrow, with weeping and grinding of teeth.’ For everyone is invited to enter in, but few respond in excellence.”
[The Pharisees Try to Entrap Jesus]
Then the Pharisees came together to make a plan to entrap Jesus with his own words. So they sent some of their disciples together with some staunch supporters of Herod. They said to Jesus, “Teacher, we know that you’re an honest man of integrity and you teach us the truth of God’s ways. We can clearly see that you’re not one who speaks only to win the people’s favor, because you speak the truth without regard to the consequences. So tell us, then, what you think. Is it proper for us Jews to pay taxes to Caesar or not?”
Jesus knew the malice that was hidden behind their cunning ploy and said, “Why are you testing me, you imposters who think you have all the answers? Show me one of the Roman coins.” So they brought him a silver coin used to pay the tax. “Now, tell me, whose head is on this coin and whose inscription is stamped on it?”
“Caesar’s,” they replied.
Jesus said, “Precisely, for the coin bears the image of the emperor Caesar. Well, then, you should pay the emperor what is due to the emperor. But because you bear the image of God, give back to God all that belongs to him.”
The imposters were baffled in the presence of all the people and were unable to trap Jesus with his words. So they left, stunned by Jesus’ words.
[Marriage and the Resurrection]
Some of the Sadducees, a religious group that denied there was a resurrection of the dead, came to ask Jesus this question: “Teacher, the law of Moses teaches that if a man dies before he has children, his brother should marry the widow and raise up children for his brother’s family line. Now, there was a family with seven brothers. The oldest got married but soon died, leaving his widow for his brother. The second brother married and also died, and the third also. This was repeated down to the seventh brother, when finally the woman also died. So here’s our dilemma: Which of the seven brothers will be the woman’s husband when she’s resurrected from the dead, since they all were once married to her?”
Jesus answered them, “You are deluded, because your hearts are not filled with the revelation of the Scriptures or the power of God. For after the resurrection, men and women will not marry, just like the angels of heaven don’t marry. Haven’t you read what God said: ‘I am the Living God, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob’? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.”
When the crowds heard this they were dazed, stunned over such wisdom!
[The Greatest Commandment]
When the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they called a meeting to discuss how to trap Jesus. Then one of them, a religious scholar, posed this question to test him: “Teacher, which commandment in the law is the greatest?”
Jesus answered him, “‘Love the Lord your God with every passion of your heart, with all the energy of your being, and with every thought that is within you.’ This is the great and supreme commandment. And the second is like it in importance: ‘You must love your friend in the same way you love yourself.’ Contained within these commandments to love you will find all the meaning of the Law and the Prophets.”
[Jesus, Son of David—Lord of David]
While all the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus took the opportunity to pose a question of his own: “What do you think about the Anointed One? Whose son is he?”
“The son of David,” they replied.
Then Jesus said to them, “How is it that David, inspired by the Holy Spirit, could call his son the Lord? For didn’t he say:
The Lord Jehovah said to my Lord,
‘Sit near me in the place of authority
until I subdue all your enemies under Your feet’?
“So how could David call his own son ‘the Lord Jehovah’?”
No one could come up with an answer. And from that day on none of the Pharisees had the courage to question Jesus any longer.
The Book of Matthew, Chapter 22 (The Passion Translation)
A set of posts to accompany Today’s reading by John Parsons:
There is no fear in God's compassionate love, and therefore over and over the Spirit of God says, al tira' - "don't be afraid..." When we are afraid, we are believing the lie there is something beyond God's control or reach, and therefore God is "not enough"... In times of testing you must remind yourself of what is real. God formed you in your mother's womb, breathed into you nishmat chayim, the breath of life, and numbers all your days... Every breath you take, every heartbeat in your chest is ordained from heaven, and indeed, there is not a moment of your life apart from God's sovereign and sustaining grace. So what, then, are you afraid of? Dying? Judgment in the world to come? Being left unloved, bereft of home, abandoned, consigned to outer darkness? King David said, "If I make my bed in Hell, behold, you are there" (Psalm 139:8). Look, the LORD God is not only present in your "happy moments," when you feel "put together" and respectable, but he is present in your desperate moments, in your hunger, your thirst, and in your secrets. May we never lose sight of God's love, especially in times of distress and trouble, since we trust that he is always working all things together for our ultimate good (Rom. 8:28).
The Name of the LORD (יהוה) means “Presence” and “Love” (Exod. 3:14; 34:6-7). Yeshua said, “I go to prepare a place for you,” which means that his presence and love are waiting for you in whatever lies ahead (Rom. 8:35-39). To worry is “practicing the absence” of God instead of practicing His Presence... Trust the word of the Holy Spirit: “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for healing peace and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope (Jer. 29:11). The Word always speaks hope.
Take comfort that your Heavenly Father sees when the sparrow falls; he arrays the flower in its hidden valley; and he calls each star by name. More importantly, the Lord sees you and knows your struggle with fear. Come to him with your needy heart and trust him to deliver you from the burdens of your soul (Matt. 11:28). Shalom means being free from fear.
This is a word for the exiles of every age: Be not afraid - al-tira' – not of man, nor of war, nor of tribulation, nor even of death itself (Rom. 8:35-39). If God be for us, who can be against us? Indeed, Yeshua came to die to destroy the power of death "and to release all those who through fear of death were subject to lifelong slavery" (Heb. 2:14-15). The resurrection of the Messiah is the focal point of history - not the "dust of death." Death does not have the final word. Indeed, because Yeshua is alive, we also shall live (John 14:19). May your chesed, O LORD, be upon us, as we wait for You (Psalm 33:22). [Hebrew for Christians]

As I’ve discussed elsewhere on the site over the years, the climax of the revelation of the Torah at Sinai was not the giving of the Ten Commandments (עשרת הדיברות) to Israel but was instead the vision of the Altar of the sanctuary (מזבח המשכן)... However -- as our Torah portion this week (i.e., Pinchas) makes clear -- the central sacrifice upon this altar was the daily sacrifice (i.e., korban tamid: קרבן תמיד) of a defect-free male lamb with unleavened bread and wine. The LORD calls this "my offering" (קרבני) and "my bread" (לחמי) [Num. 28:1-8]. In other words, the service and ministry of the Mishkan (i.e., Tabernacle) constantly foretold the coming of the great Lamb of God (שה האלהים) who would be offered upon the altar of the cross to secure our eternal redemption (John 1:29; Heb. 9:11-12).
The sacrifice of the lamb represents “God’s food,” a pleasing aroma (ריח ניחחי), for it most satisfied the hunger of God's heart (Eph. 5:2). Indeed, Yeshua's offering upon the cross represents God's hunger for our atonement, our healing from the sickness of death, since it restored what was lost to Him through sin, namely, communion with his children. God could never be satisfied until He was able to let truth and love meet (Psalm 85:10). [Hebrew for Christians]

Sometimes we say that we "hunger for God," but it is vital to remember that it is God who first hungers for us. God desires our love and fellowship. He comes to seek fruit among the trees - but does He find any? He walks in the cool of the day, calling out to us, but are we attuned to hear His voice? Do we accept the invitation to be in His Presence? When God “knocks on the door of your heart” to commune with you, what “food” will you be serving? (Rev. 3:20). Every day we are given an opportunity to “feed God” through expressing faith, hope, and love. Ultimately it is our obedience to the truth is what “feeds” Him: “Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams” (1 Sam. 15:22). [Hebrew for Christians]

Today’s paired chapter of the Testaments is Deuteronomy 9 where Moses goes over the History lessons of the people wandering about in the wilderness and preparing them to take possession of the land that would be Israel and the sacred ground of Jerusalem:
Moses: Listen to me, Israel! Today you’re going to cross the Jordan and enter the land you’ll take away from nations that are bigger and stronger than you. They live in huge cities that have defense walls as high as the sky. They’re big and tall, giants descended from the Anakim. You know all about them from the 12 spies I sent into the land—you’ve heard the saying, “Who can ever fight with the descendants of Anak?” So I want you to know today that it will be the Eternal your God who will go across the Jordan ahead of you. A blazing fire, He’ll destroy those nations. He’ll subdue them so you can destroy them quickly and take their place, as He has promised you will. When the Eternal your God has driven them out ahead of you, then don’t begin to believe He gave you this land because you’re so good and righteous! It’s just the opposite; He is giving you their land because those other nations are so bad! It’s not because you’ve conducted yourselves so well or because you have such pure hearts that you’re going to take the land; the Eternal your God is driving out those other nations ahead of you because they’re so wicked. He’s keeping His word, the promise He made to your ancestors, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. I’ll say it again: the Eternal One your God isn’t giving you this good land because you’re so good. You’re stubborn, obstinate people. Remember—don’t forget—how you kept infuriating Him in the wilderness. From the day you came out of Egypt until the day you arrived here, you’ve been rebelling against Him.
Even at Horeb, you infuriated Him. The Eternal got so angry with you He was ready to destroy you! When I went up the mountain to receive the stone tablets—the tablets of the covenant He made with you—I stayed on the mountain for 40 days and 40 nights. I didn’t eat or drink anything all that time, preparing myself to receive these holy words. At the end of those 40 days and nights, the Eternal gave me those two stone tablets of the covenant. On them He’d engraved with His own finger everything He told you on the day you gathered at the mountain, when He spoke to you from inside the fire. The Eternal told me, “Get up, and go back down the mountain as fast as you can! While you’ve been up here surrounded by My holiness, the people you led out of Egypt have become corrupt! How quickly they’ve left the path I commanded them to stay on. They’ve melted gold and poured it into a mold and made themselves an idol! I’ve seen how stubborn and obstinate these people are. Don’t try to stop Me—I’m going to destroy them! I’ll wipe out every last trace of them under the sky, and I’ll make a bigger and stronger nation out of just you.”
The mountain was still blazing with fire as I hurried back down it, carrying the two covenant tablets in my hands. I saw with my own eyes how you had sinned against the Eternal, your True God: you’d cast an idol in the shape of a young bull!
Moses: How quickly you left the path the Eternal commanded you to stay on. Right before your eyes I took the two tablets, hurled them onto the ground, and smashed them to pieces. I went back up the mountain, and for another 40 days and nights I prostrated myself before Him, lying face down on the ground in grief and petition, not eating or drinking anything as before. You had sinned so seriously—you did what the Eternal had just told you was wrong, and this made Him furious! I was afraid He was so violently angry with you that He’d destroy you, as He said He would. But one more time, the Eternal One listened to me, and He spared you. I had to pray particularly for Aaron because the Eternal was furious with him for making the idol—He would have killed my brother! I took the calf idol you made, that embodiment of your sin, and I burned it up. Then I crushed what was left, ground it into tiny pieces until it was as fine as dust, and threw the dust into the riverbed that rushes down the mountain.
You and your parents were always making the Eternal furious! At Taberah, you whined and complained; at Massah, you were sure the Lord was going to let you die of thirst; at Kibroth-hattaavah, you said you were sick of the food He provided! At Kadesh-barnea, when you finally reached the promised land, the Eternal sent you in: “Go and take possession of the land—I’ve given it to you!” But you defied this direct order from the Eternal, your True God! You didn’t trust Him, and you didn’t listen to His voice. You’ve been rebelling against Him from the day I met you!
That’s why, at Horeb, I lay face down before the Eternal for 40 days and nights, praying for you: He said He was going to destroy you, and I knew He had every reason to! I prayed to Him, “Eternal Lord, please don’t destroy Your people! They’re Your own possession: You liberated them from another master—You brought them out of Egypt with overwhelming power. Remember Your loyal servants, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob; please forget about how stubborn and wicked and sinful these people are. Don’t let their actions spoil Your greater plan. Otherwise, the people back in the land You brought us out of will be saying, “The Eternal couldn’t really bring them into that land He promised them. He actually hated those people, and He brought them out into the desert in order to kill them off.” Remember they are Your people, Your own possession, the ones You brought out of Egypt Yourself with such overwhelming power!

#NOTES
This is my new hobby,
put on paper a story that does not die in a single chapter.
I am Spanish speaking, I hope you will excuse me for my translation,
# CHAPTER 1 #FEELING #THING
Chim comments on how excited he is with Maddie in his relationship and doesn't know how to ask for marriage, he wants it to be something special,
Any advice ?
Chim asks a little anxious !!!
It has to be something really special, Eddie answers as he drinks some of his beer with his eyes lost in that bar as if he were looking for someone.
Look !!! When I asked Karen for marriage, I took care that we were doing what she likes best, Hen replies with a big smile ...
What were they doing ?
Chim asks with much curiosity!
That day we took gifts to sick children in the hospital, Karen has a big heart and dies of happiness to see all those smiles of children so happy, I know he can not cure them, but it gives them moments and that can change their situation a bit
that's where I kneel waiting to hear a yes,
His response was a lot of tears and a big kiss, ohhh if a big kiss, it was there that I realized that I would be very, very happy.
Hen responds by biting his lip remembering the big scene !!
Aww I died of love, Eddie responds by squeezing Hen's hand, then says looking at Chim:
Exactly something like that you have to do,
In my case I am not a man to give details,
I don't like to give material things
I like to give moments
those who do not get damaged over time,
moments that remain in our minds forever !!!
Uffff was really deep, Chim responds assuming he has an idea of how to ask Maddie to marry
And when do you plan to open up to a relationship?
Hen asks Eddie sarcastically
Eddie puts a serious posture,
Since the death of Shannon, I have occupied my space, all my attention is on Crhistofer, in addition to all this from the demand made by Buck, the depression I had, all this got me out of my mind!
Are you saying that Buck is the cause of your imbalance?
Hen asks with a frown !!
No, not how you think
Eddie responds a little nervous
You just affirmed Eddie!
he says looking at him
In a nervous tone Eddie replies: Buck affected us all, I felt betrayed by him and that hurt a little, it's just that ... !!!
But are you not interested in someone?
Any girl you're talking to?
Chim asks
Eddie frowns, don't worry about me, I'm not the only single man on the team
Buck is too !!!
Buck is not a serious relationship guy, he lives off the adventures, his last 3 fleeting and failed relationships confirm him, he answers Hen smiling
He still doesn't answer the question that Chim asked you, he flirts with the beer
No, no, Eddie answers with a frown, only that !!!
Buckley !!!!
Eddie interrupts greeting his friend who approaches the rest of the team
I'm sorry, we don't invite you, Hen adds, giving Buck a hug.
Chim needed some advice!
Do you think I can't give advice?
Buck asks Chim a little angry which got a little nervous
Hen adds:
You are a Buck child, this is a conversation between adults (everyone laughs)
Buck frowns,
Are you ready ?
he asks Eddie changing his gesture !!
Eddie nods
stands up to say goodbye to those present
What are your plans?
Hen asks with much curiosity !!!
We have to do men's things, Buck responds very sarcastic, moving away with Eddie in the crowd.
Don't forget to use contraceptives, Chim screams from a distance dying of laughter with Hen, Buck and Eddie.
You really don't want to tell me what they were talking about?
Buck asks as he brings Christopher popcorn and sits in the middle of Eddie and his son.
We weren't talking about the other world,
Chim wanted some tips to give your sister a gift
They also teased that you and I are the only singles on the team
Look, !!! answers Buck
Being single is not something so bad,
I haven't had much luck in love lately, so I'm giving Cupid the chance to surprise me !!!
I also feel very good,
I'm going to the gym
As healthy
and most importantly, I can share time with Cris (gently caresses Cristopher's head) and then adds I can also be with you, Buck stares at Eddie wanting to find something
nerves dominate Eddie completely so he is forced to change the subject
So which movie did you choose Cris?
between games and laughter time passes and Buck notices that it is time to leave, accompanies Cristopher to bed and then in the room says goodbye to Eddie
Tomorrow you have an appointment with the therapist? Buck asks
Yes, there I have to be very early, Eddie replies, not very happy
Do you want me to go with you? Buck questions with a little hope !!!
No, no, it is not necessary!
those appointments are usually very boring Thank you very much for offering you Better go and rest because tomorrow you must work
Good !!!
Buck stops for a moment. Look at Eddie as if he wanted to say something
Eddie I just want you to know that I'm here for anything!
Buck approaches Eddie and they both hug and add:
I hope you do very well
Thanks man !!!
I hope you have an excellent night Eddie responds with a whisper
Good morning, Mr. Eddie Diaz.
Good morning Frank
Are you a very accomplished person to be Exact? That talks a lot about you. Could you remind me of what we are on the last date, Frank questions, looking at his schedule
We were to tell you what I most desire with all my heart Eddie responds a little awkward
very interesting Eddie !!!
So what do you most want?
Frank asks with a little curiosity
Eddie sighs,
it's a little tense !!
Don't worry Eddie !!! take your time, answer Frank
I am not a person who used to talk about what he feels or thinks, since I was very young I had to live like that!
I understand you completely !!
Realize that you are alone in this room and you are looking in a mirror.
You need to listen to you
talk,
vent everything you have right now
Eddie nods a little nervous
What I most want right now is to be happy
I am living the best stage of my life next to my son,
I am at the right job with an excellent team !!!
People who have helped me see the life from another point of view, I just need one more thing !!!
I need someone who wants to live with me this moment
I am in love with my best friend !!!
My heart tells me that I already found it but my mind shakes me and tells me to get off that cloud that all I want to happen is just a Mirage
Frank looks at Eddie in amazement because it seems she has already found the solution to the problem.
Is it the first time you fall in love with a boy?
Eddie stares at him and says yes.
However, in my adolescence I was curious about the boys, the family of My father is very religious and they have never understood that love can manifest itself in many ways. So this slowed me down a bit!
then I met Shannon,
She was the perfect girl, I really wanted her to help me out of all this confusion but then she got pregnant. I was very scared. That's why I joined the army!
He wanted to escape from all the farce he had created, all the damage he had done to her and worst of all! The damage I was doing to myself
But in spite of everything I don't regret anything
Now I have my son Christopher,
Now I have one more reason to fight,
For my son I am a better person
For my son I can do anything to make him happy
even give up your happiness to return with
Shannon
interrupts Frank
Eddie nods with tears in his eyes
There seems to be someone up there who does not agree with that, Frank adds.
a resounding silence seizes the room for a few seconds
What's the name of the guy you like, Frank asks?
Evan Buckley But we all say Buck
Eddie's heart was beating a thousand
So when will you tell Buck about your feelings?
Eddie skips a little I can't tell him !!
He is my best friend ,
How about I tell him and decide to get away from me !!! I don't want to lose your friendship
Frank frowns
But you can not stay like that by feeding an illusion, you are doing more damage than you think, this is a pressure cooker and at any moment it can explode.
you must tell him for better or worse, regardless of the result,
but you must release all the pressure Fran looks at Eddie and adds
I am very happy for the great process that we are carrying out now. We know what the problem is.
You have the solution in your hands !!! #NOTHING #VENTURED NOTHING GAINED
