As far as stardew goes....probably depends on the ship, but I think most instances of them stand in the 'mortal but a good fighter and very hard to kill' category

with the exception of when Felix partners with Krobus. I feel like something does change him, makes him start to be inhuman. It was probably a slippery slope from learning forest magic at the start of the game, however. The Wizard and Witch are kinda on another level from the townsfolk, the latter just displaying the most reprehensible game options in the hut.
