When Captain Delva Cadash of the Carta pirate ship Duster’s Dirge comes across a sinking ship belonging to the Montilyet Shipping Company, she orders it’s prized passenger to walk the plank. For honourable Lady Josephine refuses to accept a bribe to allow the Carta to smuggle goods into the port in Antiva City! 

However the iron hearted Captain’s far kinder cousin Topher fights to spare the beautiful woman’s life. Will he convince Delva to ransom Josephine instead?

When Josephine’s carriage is attacked and her guards slain, she finds herself rescued by a passing Dwarven warrior. Surrounded by enemies on all sides she has no choice but to put her life in the hands of the kind stranger.

Luckily for Josephine, she is in the company of the best smuggler in the Carta, capable of moving anything both above and below ground. Unluckily for Topher Cadash, it’s difficult to be in the company of such a gracious woman and not be charmed. What’s a poor Duster Boy to do?

Western! AU Inktober 2019 - (3. BAIT)

{drabble under cut}

The sound of her terrified panting echoed across the stone as she ran through the canyon. After her came the sounds smug laughter.

“Come back little lady!”

“We don’t bite!”

She gasped in fright as she saw ahead a dead end. One heel of her boot caught a jagged rock, and she screamed as she fell hard to the ground in a pile of skirts. She sat up quickly as a pain shot through her ankle, her head turned as the two bandits caught up to her.

“There you are sweetheart, we were starting to feel lonely.”

Speak Josie, speak! She thought urgently, but all she could see was the bloodied bodies of her guards that had littered around her carriage, and all she could hear was her heart beating hard.

“HEY YOU! STEP AWAY FROM THE LADY!”

Josephine looked behind her, and up above the cliff she saw a man carrying a pickaxe.

“Back off dwarf this doesn’t concern you!”

The dwarf stared them down before turning away and disappearing. Josephine’s heart sank.

The bandit smirked. “Now, where were we?”

*BANG!*

The bandit fell to the ground with a yell as a bullet tore through his right thigh, splattering the ground with blood.

They all turned around in fright. Up on the cliff was the dwarven man, piercing gold eyes glowed in the sunlight before staring back through the scope of an enormous rifle. 

“Perhaps you didn’t hear me? Step AWAY from the LADY!”
