Gedurende de restauratie van de KoepelKathedraal in Haarlem bleek dat diverse voor deze kerk ontworpen kunstwerken nooit zijn gerealiseerd. Tijdens de restauratie (2010-2018) lukte het om er alsnog enkele toe te voegen en recent zijn glas-in-lood ramen van Jan Toorop en glasmozaïeken van Gijs Frieling dankzij schenkingen gerealiseerd. Toorop (1858-1928) maakte zijn ontwerp ruim honderd jaar…

JAN TOOROP 1858 - 1928 “Portrait of a Lady” 1905 Photo is taken by: @robertpuffjr Antonette Maria Magdalena Deckers (b. 1873) is sitting in an armchair, her left hand supporting her chin. She is wearing a wide, light blouse and a hat. Above left are the words: 'excelsior 1905 4 April Aan Bas en Magda'. The painting is dedicated to Magda and her husband, a property dealer by trade. They were married in Düsseldorf in 1892. Little is known about Magda. Perhaps the couple commissioned the portrait, or maybe they were friends of the artist, who addresses them informally.
