Makeup Goals Broken

Back in February I shared that one of my goals was not to buy new makeup products. I thought I could make it 9 months. I didn’t. I made it four. Not horrible but definitely not good. What did I break my goal for? Let me share.

I stumbled across Nerdy Girl Makeup’s review and tutorial of the Star Wars Hyper Space eyeshadow palette at Hot Topic. This palette is SO cute and I really liked the packaging and the price wasn’t bad. I couldn’t help myself. Plus I ended up getting some cute hair accessories and jewelry. Sadly the highlighter arrived broken but I repressed it. It lost the Rebel symbol but the highlighter isn’t bad so I’m not upset. 

That wasn’t the only palette I bought though! While browsing Ulta’s app for sales I stumbled across Too Faced’s Chocolate Bon Bons palette for 50% off. FIFTY PERCENT OFF!! Who could pass that up? Not me. The shades are right up my alley and it smells so good. It makes me excited to create eyeshadow looks and to take another crack at the Chocolate Bar palette. 

I’m hitting the restart button on “no new makeup” goal and hoping I can make it to December. Just in time for the holiday kits!!!

Not a workout post *GASP* I had the day off so I got dressed up in an effort to motivate myself to get get my errands done #adulting :3 Can you tell what my theme color is? :) I used to hate pink because it labelled me a "girly girl" but it's just a fun color :3. I think I prefer my bangs now that they've grown out some so I can do the side swept look if I want to. What do y'all think about the headband? I stole it from my Flower Bouquet Nico cosplay lol. My eyeshadow are the shades of pink from my #toofacedchocolatebonbons palette I extended the 3rd shade to under my eye a little bit. I gave up the multiple palette part of the goal on Thursday figuring it wouldn’t really show me a lot of pan progress even though I had a larger hue range to work with. So I ended up sticking with the Bon Bon palette, as it was literally the middle of the 5 in scale of favorites (worst being Christmas in New York and best being the sweet peach). I would have had no variety or even enjoyable looks with the peanut butter and jelly. The chocolate bar would have worked well too but I wanted to see if the Bon Bon would become more preferred over the days. I made effort to use every color at least one time and did different looks once or twice each day.

I would say I have made some good progress. I made a really cool gradient look with the pink, and a grey and silver toned smokey eye. Lots of brown neutral looks increasing in drama.

I find the pigment can be built up with the shimmers, and I have preferred the wet brush look, but even wet the slightest blending takes away the pop. I found that to be the case with almost all the shades. But if you keep building and blending away and building eventually it gets you where you want to be. I’m just not so sure that is practical for the average makeup lovers daily look. However, I have had to fully remove the shadows each time I wore them. It takes a long time to get there but then they do not budge. I wore most looks for an excess of 8 hours and only found the need to touch up the shimmer for a fresh pop about halfway thru, which was really easy to do and just layered ontop of the look simply.

I’m happy with the pan progress. It’s a shame the wet brush technique eats thru product at a much more rapid rate leading to uneven pans.

I only used this a few times when it first released (Jan of 2016 I believe?) And kind of forgot about it. Been using it the last two days and got into most of the matte browns and pinks building up looks. This seems like a hard to hit pan formula. They are quite firmly pressed and do not kick up much. Wet brush was needed to get all the shimmers to a desired intensity. Glad it’s getting some use in…even if it has been almost 2 years since purchasing.

Ive been reviewing my makeup for a while but suddenly feel so much less biased than I normally would be because I invested money so long ago it has no affect on me now(people tend to favor or be harder on things they spent money on) or got for free (everything seems better when free, and many reviewers have relationships with the brand at stake). This is cool.
