Mechanical Heart
Part 4
M!Robot x F!Reader
Tumblr media
"A break-in," you grumbled stepping out of the car. Axel hasn't typed a single word to you since the office. You had to text your boss to see what was going on. Apparently, this woman arrived home to her door open and a bunch of her stuff thrown around. She was panicking on the call on how she feel like someone may still be in the house. No wonder Axel was moving fast. A gun was thrusted towards you causing you to jump. You looked over to see Axel holding the gun towards you. He dropped his screen down making you noticed he had something written there. "Be careful. Stay on high alert. And stay behind me," he wrote in his usual font and colouring.  You forgot he's a superior to you, so of course he would want to take control. You nodded your head and put the gun in your holster. Crap! How could you forget your taser. You left all that stuff at your old office. You didn't expect to get a mission on the first day. The two of you walked towards the light pink house. The woman standing outside ran towards us once she noticed us. While she talked to Axel, you could survey the area. "Oh, I'm so glad you're here," she said going around Axel and crashing into you. Quickly wrapping your arms around the woman's waist, you held her up. Did she just ignore Axel? Maybe it's because he's wearing a leather jacket instead of the normal work jacket. "It's fine ma'am. We will check the house to make sure it's free of intruders," you said awkwardly patting the woman's back. She pulled away and started fanning her face. Tears were running down her face like a waterfall. "Oh please be careful. If there's someone in there, use the robot thing," she said passionately grabbing your shoulder. You could feel her shaking from her fingertips. "The robot thing?" You asked confused. She nodded her head and pointed behind you, where the only thing that could be considered robotic was Axel.
"Excuse me Miss, but that thing has a name. It's Axel and his life is too important to try to use a shield. Unlike humans, it cost million of dollars to make one. So it would be more efficient to use humans as shield, but there seem to only be one other human here," you growled stepping forward. How can someone really be this speciest? This woman is willing to let this robot die when she doesn’t even know him.
A hand shot out and grabbed the back of you jacket. You looked over with a hard glare to see it was Axel holding your jacket. He shook his head at you as if you were a little child.
“I sincerely apologize for my partner. Now can you please state what happen for us,” he wrote in that plain font. The woman eyes were wide as she looked at his screen then back at you.
“Did she just threaten me?” she asked lifting a shaking finger and pointing at you. You tried to fight back from rolling your eyes. Your bosses won’t be happy to hear that you threaten a citizen. Even though she just told you to use your partner as a shield.
“No ma’am. I do apologize if it seem that way. But I was stating why we treat robots and humans the same, since both of their lives have value,” you stated with a giant fake smile. Just fake until you leave.
“Oh, well they could always be replace unlike humans,” she said laughing a little at the end. Axel gripped your arm to hold you in place. Ah, he could feel you about to strangle the woman. Why do you have to deal with speciest people like her? This robot that she believe have no value is willing to risk his life to make sure that she can live in peace. Like, how does that not make him seem like he has some worth?
“To each their own,” you commented through gritted teeth. Axel squeezed your arm, a nonverbal way of saying to behave. You were trying. You really were.
“Okay, so what happen. I came home 10 minutes ago and noticed that my door was open. I felt fear completely wash over me, but I tried to show some bravery. I entered my house and instantly was met with my couch flipped over and glass shards everywhere. I was about to head upstairs when I heard a loud thump. I turned around and ran out the house, but I was smart enough to put my house in lockdown mode,” she stated and at the end hold up a dark red button attached to her keychain.
So she does have some brain in there. Since she put her house in lockdown mode, all the exiting doors would lock and all the windows will have alarms on them. So, if they were to try to make any attempts to escape, then it would alert the owner of which window they broke. House lockdown are usually made to protect a person if someone is trying to get into the house when the owner is home, but she used it for the opposite scenarios.
“Thank you for that,” Axel wrote giving her a nod. She didn’t even acknowledge him as she continue to look at you. Axel is standing right next to you, she can’t even deny that she maybe didn’t see grey words appear on a dark black screen.
“Okay, may we have your keys so we can check the house,” you asked sticking your hand out. Nodding her head energetically, she pulled off her key and handed it to you. This is the only way to enter the house without setting off the alarms.
“Stay right here or maybe in your car. Just be someone near, but far away just in case someone is in there and comes out,” you mumbled waving you hand as to push forward the idea. Yanking Axel’s grip on you, you begin to make your way towards the house. Axel stayed close behind you.
A light tap hit you shoulder, but you didn’t look towards Axel. “I can already guess what you’re going to say. ‘That was unprofessional and our bosses will hear about this’. But I’m sorry, she was honestly pissing me off. How can someone be so heartless to something that’s so similar to you?” you ranted feeling the anger building up again.
Axel tapped on your shoulder again and you ignored it. Quickly jumping up the steps, you made your way to the front of the house. The key that she handed you wasn’t a normal one, it was actually just a card.
Only the rich has these. The didn’t use keys anymore, just swipe their card in front of a sensor to unlock the front. These house have had more cases of break-in than normal houses, but they still use it for some reason.
You swiped the card in front of the sensor and the door swung open. Even from the foyer, you could see shards of glass spilling in. Right in front of you were black hardwood stairs with a room to the left and right of it.
A hand gripped your shoulder and yanked you back. This time you had to look at Axel screen, which had a bunch of words on it.
“I was going to thank you for standing up for me, but please do not threaten a civilian,” he wrote with a light grey colour and that weird font. It was close to the times new roman one, but a little more curvy.
“Just to get this straight, I never threaten a civilian, but this is the first time I’ve had to deal with a speciest one. I’ve dealt with sexist and racist ones before,” you explain before turning back to the house. You took a step back and splayed your hand out towards the house. “After you sir.”
He shook his head before walking in. He glanced left and right before going to the right. You started going left when Axel grabbed your arm causing you to look up at him in confusion.
“I said stay close. We don’t know where the intruder could be,” he wrote and you nodded your head slowly.
“I know. That’s why I’m splitting up, so we can cover more ground. I’ll check the left and you do the right,” you whispered pointing in the directions. He shook his head at you.
“We don’t know if they have a weapon on them. You can get hurt,” he wrote in a bolder font. Is he worried about you? That’s actually sweet on him.
“Thanks for the worry, but I’ve been on plenty of missions worse than this. I’ll check the left and we meet back here when we’re done,” you whispered before going left. A small buzz sound filled the silent house causing you to turn around. Axel screen was facing you, but his hand was rubbing the screen.
“What was that?” you asked tilting your head. You couldn’t tell if that was from him or from somewhere in the house.
“Nothing,” he wrote in a grey to pink gradient. Your eyebrows dropped at that colouring. You really need to figure it out what does it mean when a robot use pink gradient. And when they apparently buzz.
“Okay,” you draw out turning left and walking into the room. It was quite a big room with a giant dark red dining table. It was covered with glass shards and flowers. There was water leaking from the table onto the ground.
A few chairs were toppled over, but none of them were broken. And there was a vinyl player in the corner next to a tea cabinet that had a bunch of expensive looking glasses in it. But not a single thing seem to be broken on them. Odd.
You checked around, but didn’t see anyone. So, you continue on towards the room in the back. It was a miniature kitchen with a giant island in the middle of it. Black marble countertops covered every surface with silver kitchen appliances with pots hanging above the island. All the lower cabinets were open up, but the higher ones stayed closed.
There was a few thing laying on the ground and water was on the ground. But nothing looked like it was missing or broken. There are small appliances in here that would be quite easy to take if someone was trying to steal.
So the intruder wasn’t a thief. They just seemed to be set on messing up the house, but didn’t really try to make too much of a mess. There is bunch of shards around, but it only seem to be from flower vases. And you doubt this woman had many of those in this house.
And all the supposedly thrown around objects, don’t show any signs of damage. Anyone could have easily broken those chairs, but they are simply just laying on the floor or upside down.
Doing a quick double check, you made your way back to the foyer. Axel was already there with a bunch of numbers flying across his screen. Is he broken?
“Axel,” you whispered waving your hand in front of his face. The numbers disappeared and the screen was back to being black. “You okay. Are numbers flying across your screen usual for you?”
“Yes it is. It’s the equivalent of human thinking,” he explain rolling his neck revealing that his neck too was matte black, but a red wire ran up the left side of his neck and connected to his head.
“Oh well, I noticed something. We can eliminate this being a robbery. I think someone just wanted to just knock around somethings in here,” you stated walking to the right and peeking into the room. A glass table was flipped, but wasn’t shattered. And the couch she was talking about earlier had been flipped on its back. “See, nothing is really broken. Just pushed over and it looked like two vases were broken.”
You turn back to Axel to see he was filling his screen up with words. Glancing at it, you realized that he was typing up your words. He placed the last word before the words disappeared. You guess that’s him thinking about your words.
“We can check upstairs now, if you would like,” you said trying to back down. Axel is suppose to be leading the case since he is your superior. You’re kind of use to calling actions, since you were the superior at your old place.
“Let’s go,” he wrote before making his way up the stairs. You followed close behind him.
And as any respectable person, you kept your eyes away from his behind. You totally didn’t notice how the black ripped jeans seem to hug his bum more as he took a step. Like, you didn’t notice a single detail.
Axel spun around and you snapped your eyes up with an innocent smile coming onto your face. He tilted his head to the left before shaking his head. “The floor is split left and right with four doors in each hall. I’ll take left this time,” he wrote. You nodded your head and gave a quick thumbs up. A few dots appeared on the screen before he turned around.
Did he noticed? You will have to quit and turn in your badge if you get called to your bosses’ office because Axel submitted a claim of you staring at his butt during a mission. No other department would want a person like that. You would be labeled as a pervert. Then you won’t make any money causing you to be homeless. You would become a perverted bum.
A matte hand pressed against your forehead causing you to blink away the reverie. You looked over at Axel to see him with his head tilted. Turning back in the front, you were met with a wall.
Two of his fingers lightly gripped your forehead as he turned your head towards him. “Are you feeling well? Are you experiencing a sickness?”
You felt heat spreading across your face causing you to spin away from him. “I am absolutely fine. Just thinking about the mission. Must have zone out,” you rambled pretending to look down the hall. “I go right, right? Okay. Well, meet you back here.”
Trying to look normal, you took three giant strides and opened the door on the right wall. It turned out to be a giant bathroom that was completely white. There was no other colour in here except white.
Nothing needed to be check since the shower was made of glass, making it easy to look into. And then there was bathtub was open and just from standing here, you could see it was empty. There was the towel closet, but a quick open reveal that nothing was there.
You walked out and shut the door behind you. You went to the other side and open the first door. Exercise equipment took up every space in this giant room. There was no closets in this room and every wall was made of glass. Just standing in the doorway, you could see every inch of the room from your normal view or from a reflection.
The third room was...odd. It was a painting room, but the painting. It was nothing but of the woman in various situations. One of them was her in an old time lounge chair with King George the 3 and George Washington begging at her feet. The next one was a work in progress of her laying on the beach nude. Thank goodness the only thing painted was her legs, stomach, and her shoulder up.
You were quick to leave that room and go to the final room. And you almost jumped for joy to see it was a bedroom. You happily checked under the bed and through all chest and her walk in closet.
You almost considered the room to be cleared when you noticed that in an ancient small wardrobe closet, there was some flannel material sticking out from under one of the doors. Just from looking through the woman’s house, it was easy to tell that she was a high class one. She just didn’t seem like a  flannel type of person, especially one with a stain on it.
Being as quiet as possible, you sneaked up on the door. You prepared yourself to grab you gun just in case it was a hostile intruder. Reaching for the tiny knob, you pulled it open.
What laid inside was not what you expected. There was two little boys huddled up in the closet, one being no older than 8 and the other close to 5.
“Please don’t hurt us,” the older one yelled wrapping his body more around the younger one. Tears were falling their faces as they shook from fear.
“I’m not going to hurt you. I promise. Can you come out and tell me why you are in the closet,” you cooed bending over. The eldest one looked at you a hint of distrust, but he moved out of the closet. He held his younger boy in his arms even though he looked like he was struggling.
“Are you the ones who did this to this woman’s house?” you asked softly while getting on your knees. Maybe if you seemed more of their height, it will calm them down.
“Yes,” the older boy mumbled bouncing the still crying younger boy in his arm. “I did it all. Take me away.”
As an officer, you’re suppose to keep your emotions in check. But this little boy is pulling on your heart string.
“Why should I take you away?” you asked tilting your head. The younger boy gripped harder on the older one. Glancing between the two, you noticed a lot of similarities between the two. Must be brothers.
“I’m the one said we should break into Miss. Kruella’s house. So I should take full responsibility,” he mumbled gripping his brother harder. The little brother sobs got louder causing you to flinch.
The older brother's eyes drifted from you to behind you. Tears started welding in his eyes and he started sobbing too.
You looked behind you to see Axel standing there with a gun pulled out. He seem to be frozen because he was just standing there.
“Put the gun away,” you whispered yelled at him. He slightly jumped but put the gun in his holster.
“Sorry. Sorry. Sorry,” he wrote with a bigger font size each word. He held his hands up and took a step back.
“Hey guys, don't worry. Everything's going to be just fine,” you said wrapping your arms around them. They leaned into your embraced and continue to sob into your jacket.
“We have to take them to the station.” You tried not to jump as Axel's screen appeared in front of you. Looking up, Axel was using the wardrobe as a wall to lean over you.
“I know,” you mouthed feeling bad. The poor boys didn't even look like the type to do something like this. They even tried to hide themselves in the most obvious place.
“Hey, I have some bad news,” you mumbled. Just pull it off like a band aid. “We're going to have to take you to the station and ask you some questions.”
Fear washed over their faces before it contorted into anguish as tears poured out of their eyes. It felt horrible doing this, but it's part of protocol. Someone has to pay for the damage and is going to have to take responsibility.
Axel moved around you and grabbed the oldest boy. He picked him up and placed him on his hip.
“I downloaded a program that teaches how to deal with children,” he wrote with that grey to pink gradient. You wanted to ask more on it, but now is not the time.
Carefully picking up the younger boy, you stood up. The little boy's arm wrapped around your neck as he continued to cry.
Axel gave a quick nod before turning and walking out the room. As you walked, you kept a little bounce in your step to calm the boy.
“You guys are finish, thank… Gonzales’ boys? I'm not surprise,” the woman sneered from her car. The little boy gripped your neck out and let out a whimper. They know each other. Well, the eldest boy did call her Miss. Kruella.
“Miss, would you please follow us to the station?” you asked giving her a pleading look. She nodded her head before her eyes drifted to the two boys. A disgusted scoff came from her lips as she looked forward.
This woman truly does rub you the wrong way.
“I hate her so much,” you yelled into your hand. The office had all the lights off except for a singular light. You had a horrible headache from that break in case.
A light tap came onto you shoulder and you looked up at Axel. “But you really did help them,” he wrote in his normal font. You let out a sigh as you kicked your chair from the desk. You spun around until you slowed to a stop in front of the window overlooking the city.
“Yeah, but I feel like I didn't. Those poor kids mother, who husband is sick, had to work for that little witch. And she decided to come to come to their house because she felt like she wasn't a good maid,” you yelled running a shaking hand through the stitching of the chair.
After calling the parent of the boys, you found out that she was a maid for Miss. Kruella. And the boys explain that apparently the woman came over to complain to their mom on her day off. In the midst of yelling, their robotic came in and started barking her, and the woman responded by kicking the dog. The puppy broke and the children were upset. Apparently the mother saved up for 3 years to get then that. Miss. Kruella didn't pay for it and even threaten to fire the woman if she tried to sue her or anything. So, that explained why the boys broke in. They even apologized for breaking to the two vases. But in the end, the dang witch didn’t apologize for anything she did and just kept trying to make herself seem like the villain.
Miss. Kruella decided to not press charges as long as someone paid for the damages. You volunteered to pay for it and she did want to accept, but after some convincing she accepted. However, she fired the woman on the spot.
Warm fingers dug into you shoulder causing you to jump and spin around. Axel stood there in a startled pose: his leg slightly rose up with his hands up.
“I read that massages can help relieve stress. I want to help you destress,” he wrote in a tiny font, but you were getting use to reading all his fonts.
“Oh, thank you,” you said turning around. His fingers delicately touched your shoulder before digging in. Sighs escaped your mouth as you relaxed in the chair. Closing your eyes, you relish in the feeling of all your tension floating away.
Since your eyes were closed, you missed the flash of pink on Axel face when he looked down at you. He quickly shook his head and the colour disappeared. Today reminded him that he is only a robot. Nothing more or nothing less.

And there’s part four. I’m really liking where this story is going and Axel is slowly starting to become my favorite person. Please comment anything, I love reading what you guys write about my story. And my asks are open, so if you have any questions, I’m here. I also wanted to thank you guys for 600 followers. I was planning on doing something special at 500, but it shot by so fast that I missed it. But I still have that special thing in my pocket, so I may do that at 1K or 2K. Anyway, thank you for reading and have a great rest of your day.
