The Four Sons of Horus from the Tomb of the Pharaoh Ay The images 𓏏𓅱𓏏𓀾𓏪 “twt.w” of the sons are usually depicted in their individual anthropomorphic forms, but in other rare circumstances they are shown in human form. They are all sitting 𓈞𓊃𓀉 “ẖs” on thrones 𓊨𓏏𓉗 “3s.t” and brandishing flail sceptres 𓈖𓐍𓐍𓌅 “nḫ3ḫ3” of kingship. In the center there is an offering table with divine food offering for the gods 𓊹𓊹𓊹 “nṯr.w” Right side: these two figures are wearing the red crown of Lower Egypt/North 𓇾𓇊 “t3-mḥw” and brandishing the flail of kingship. Ashmolean Advent Day 9 - Egyptian Donkey

This copy of a wall painting is by Egyptologist Nina de Garis Davies who, with her husband Norman, would record paintings from Egyptian Tombs. The couple used a tracing technique that enabled nearly exact brushstroke and colour reproduction. This copy is from a wall in the tomb of Knunmhotep III who was an Ancient Egyptian high steward and vizier of the 12th Dynasty. It depicts a man playing a lyre preceded by a donkey.
