- she understands the sentimental value of objects for girls for when everything else for them is spiralling out of control

- this is why she's a good teacher, she's not so far removed from youth as not to understand it

- dismissed at first by the other teachers for being some silly young thing who didn't understand teaching but slowly gaining respect as she's very good at sizing each student up

- chooses the Headgirl EXCEPTIONALLY carefully (Jolly Foul Play made a lasting impact), and sometimes makes unexpected choices that work out brilliantly

- without a doubt the most glamorous teacher there

- 'accidentally' leaves her fashion magazines in the sixth form common room

- love-hate relationship with Matron > Matron thinks she's too full of 'Hollywood nonsense' but does respect Kitty's withering glare that can silence even the most wilful student

- cautious friends with Una Dichmann (who I hc as headteacher of Deepdean) because of Jolly Foul Play, but know that Deepdean Girls have to Stick Together

Ok so from seeing robin stevens goodreads answer to a question that makes it sound like a big change is coming for aleks (MMU discord shoutout) and hazel but that’s not marriage i am now back on my bs of aleks and hazel have a kid before getting married and that will someone be featured in tmua 3. But also think about it, it’s set 9 months after BITB, aleks was living with hazel part of the time of BITB and there’s also a chance she could’ve been in the very very early stages of pregnancy during BITB and not been aware! Or got pregnant right after as aleks would have again been on leave for a bit! Also she so would ignore all her possible symptoms until someone (George probably as a son of a doctor) would sit her down being like hey all these symptoms you have/I’ve noticed all happen to be pregnancy symptoms and we all know you and aleks have done it and what else could possibly be going on? Yes she would be in denial for as long as possible! Again shoutout mmu discord for fueling my ramblings and headcanon for this!!!!!

first half term of year 13 done baby!!

#quite proud of that tbh #this half term I’ve been really dedicated #like I haven’t been counting down the days to the break (didn’t even know today was the last day until Wednesday) #and I went in every single day except for the train strike even tho I was really sick for weeks #and I really revised hard for tmua even tho it didn’t go well like at least I did something #also unrelated but I am considering entering for physics Olympiad #but idk if I’m good enough so perhaps will do a past paper #also need to finish my Cambridge application and possibly write a second personal statement #but I have 3 days for that #so today I can afford to do nothing #and I’m really tired so probably for the best #honestly near suicidal in the morning when I got up at 6.30 and it was pitch black outside #and felt like I slept for like. one hour max.. #not having problems w waking up at 3 am randomly thank god #how tf was I functioning in year 12 bc that would literally happen every night

I know you've mentioned you see Hazel as bi (which is so cool!!) and I was wondering if we'd ever see bits of that in the series, like in her tmua cameos?

I think we sort of already have in MMU - the way she feels about Daisy at first is essentially a crush, although she doesn’t acknowledge it as that to herself. And then she also has crushes on Stephen and Alexander!

It may come up again in MUA, absolutely - but in Body in the Blitz there’s another character who was in a relationship with a person of one gender in the MMU series who is now in a relationship with a person of another gender! (Keeping this vague because of ~spoilers~ but there is certainly on-the-page bisexual detective rep in BITB!)

Ever such a slight vent but honestly have such a weird disconnect between the Murder Most Unladylike series (my special/focused interest) and The Ministry Of Unladylike Activity series (a book series I enjoy but isn't a special interest)

They're both set in the same universe, but it feels different. My excitement goes up 📈 when I read about characters from the original series, but then sort of flatlines the moment it's back to MayEricNuala plot which leads to weird rollercoaster emotions on a whole because I'm going from SPECIAL INTEREST MODE to just reading a book and then back through the cycle again ugh. And then it gets too much and I begin to actively not like the book,,,

Don't get me wrong I do like the book!!! But yeah reading TMUA to MMU is def a different experience for me

Ok so firstly who's who:

Button House is obviously Fallingford

We're gonna say for this that it was a very distant relative of Aleksandr's who fled Russia alongside his grandmother (Countess Demidovskoy) and left Fallingford to the Countess

The Countess decided to give it to Aleksandr for a place to live in England so he doesn't have to go back to America and deal with his family trying to get him to take over his dad's company

Hazel and Aleksandr are married and have decided they're going to live in England

Just like in the show, Lavinia pushes Hazel out the window causing her neck injury and, Lavinia being Lavinia, feels no remorse whatsoever

Hazel finds that she sees May like a wee sister

since I hc the Countess as a very Orthodox Christian I feel she may have rubbed off on Aleksandr a bit and so when Hazel tells him she can see ghosts he isn't just as on board as Mike is

he then whips out the rosaries and holy water and begins blessing the house with the Russian blessings his grandmother taught him even though he isn't even that religious

all the ghosts just stood watching him, Daisy making fun of the length of his arms

Eric carries Nuala's head around most of the times and tries to stop the others (May, Lavinia, and Daisy) from playing football with her

quite often they would just sit down and talk about their lives with each other and would occasionally gossip about the other ghosts

Kitty is nicer than how Fanny actually is and when Hazel has gotten over the fact that she can see ghosts, Kitty gets Hazel to tell her everything about what's trending and how her and Aleksandr met

Eric, Beanie and Nuala have dance parties every week and always try to get George to join in

George follows Aleksandr around and pretends as if he's Aleksandr's second in command

Daisy becomes extremely melodramatic about Hazel and constantly tells her how they're literally like Sherlock and Watson and how Hazel should unalive herself so they could run off the the holiday home in Fallingford grounds and start a new afterlife together where they're hopelessly in love

Hazel constantly has to tell her that she is happily alive and married

Aleksandr does a seance sooner than Mike does it in the series and ends up seeing a shadow of a rat and smelling burning due to Amina walking through him to follow the rat and freaks out

Amina then has to go get Hazel to restore Aleksandr to normal

George and Lavinia meet up in the library every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday evenings to talk about mostly politics but also other things and they tell the other ghosts they're having a "grown ups meeting" and no one else is allowed

These "grown ups meetings" quite frequently involve Lavinia getting Aleksandr's computer and them both cyberbullying with Lavinia teaching George modern slang

Beanie's sister is Clementine and that's why no one liked her and poor Beanie had to go through a hard time after her mum died

BARCLAY IS UNCLE FELIX

Aleksandr shared his wagon wheel with him

Daisy had a big fat crush on Hazel (if it isn't obvious with her being Thomas)

George also has a big fat crush on Aleksandr but isn't just as obvious and dramatic as Daisy and the only ghost to actually notice this is Lavinia

Kitty's husband is Hugo and he pushed her out the window after creating a manwich with the butler and the gardener

i have been thinking abt this for ages and I've finally done it and let me know if you want a part two!!

also I am literally just thinking about Lavinia as Julian like it's just so perfect thinking about it makes me so happy I don't know why
