i love how they make it seem that the 03 turtles are strong adult badass warriors but we just coo at them like theyre kittens is so funny. they were in space jail once but. little guys
That’s because they are simply just little guys ❤️
(Unrelated/related I fucking lost it when Leo looked at Donnie in this scene because it’s so clearly a ‘really? You too?’ disappointed look it’s so funny. Like Raph and Mikey he expects it from, they were already goofing off earlier, but Donnie you’re supposed to be better than this AHSJAHA)
Was once again fooling around with clips from Adventures in Turtlesitting and Good Genes Part 1 (basically, I was seeking all the major "Leo being protective of his double mutated brother" moments) and just
After the turtles show up at April's apartment, Raph attacks Don, who ends up attacking him in retaliation; Leo kicks Don, causing him to drop Raph. At that point, Donatello turns around to his brothers and spends a good couple of seconds just...standing around and growling at them before he notices the hole in the wall and runs away.
Then later when the turtles are searching for Don, April calls Leo and alerts him that not only did the motion tracker on the Battle Shell pick up something large enough to be Don, but that he appears to be making his way back to the new lair in Central Park.
I'm an ardent the-other-three-1987-turtles-would-just-laugh-at-Raphael-and-his-misfortunes-in-the-episode truther, which resulted in possibly one of my most fun and favourite doodle dumps.
These drawings are specifically how I imagine the 1987 turtles would've/could've been in that episode.
How about we take Usagi from his teenage years and use that version of him
We should so have Usagi save Leo's life knight in shinning armor style (and then animators were like: make sure Leo gives off school girl in front of her crush body language and Usagi puffs his chest out when he talking himself up)
You know how mirage Leo and canon Usagi have that "we shouldnt work but we do" vibe? Lets dial it up to 11 and also not include their initial fights against each other
Lets give them all these sweet lines (and then the voice actors went: imma say these lines so softly which such emotion)
Ah shit, we made it too gay. What do we do? Have them call each other "brother" during the emotionally charged moments. Genius!
Like i cant get over how they made all these choices that ended up culminating into what is either "strong and indescribable friendship" thats similar to JRRT's "romantic friendships" or "im not allowed to say they're gay but they're so gay" and i honestly have no idea which was the original intention but theres no way it wasnt deliberate someone on either the writing team or the voice actors or the animation team saw the other teams' material and went "oh they're gay? alright"
I love watching the other series and comparing how the characters are presented in each iteration. It’s honestly so interesting to see how each series tackles the same base concept and I genuinely haven’t found one I didn’t enjoy/haven’t been enjoying.
