ooooh yes absolutely. belle instills a very strong belief in santa, so she makes sure the kiddos know how Very Important it is to leave cookies and milk out, as well as carrots for the reindeer!!! all the children take it very seriously of course.

renée makes sure to leave exactly nine carrots for each reindeer. (adam says “aren’t there eight?” and renée replies “RUDOLPH, DADDY!”)

maurice always likes to pick the mug/glass that the milk will be in. it becomes his favorite job on christmas eve.

juliette doesn’t do anything in particular but she loves the routine of it and i think that first year when they all know santa isn’t real, she’s quietly bummed that they don’t do it. even though she knows why, it’s like :( sad to break the tradition.

belle still tells them they have to get to bed by midnight or santa won’t come!!!!!!!! even when her children are grown adults. it is required <3 she also still signs some gifts as “from santa”

also it is absolutely adam who takes bites out of the cookies when they’re putting the presents out. one year he referred to it as “recompense for not getting any sleep tonight” and belle laughed out loud and they got scared the children would hear them.

I grew up eating.L bean soup + rice that my dad cooks bc that’s like, a Colombian staple, and I know the general seasonings that go into it and my dad taught us cooking growing up so it’s not like I’d never seen the process

But also his style of cooking isn’t exactly recipe or exact measurements bc he’s been doing it for years , but I swear when I do it I almost never get the seasoning right and I’m never sure what it is i did wrong, like If I was missing something or had too much of something or both or what!!!

#and SO many times the beans were unevenly cooked #I think in college it was due to weak stoves #bc it got better when I moved into apartments #BUT. last week I made shitty soup again #lime mostly cooked beans but some were still kinda harder #and the seasoning just wasn’t good #now to be fair I realized I was out of sazón so that’s something that I could attribute to being misisng #but I feel like everything else still coudlve made a decent flavor if I had done it right!!! #idk I’ve been agonizing about it since then lol #like my mixed heritage and stuff is a bit complicated sometimes #but food is one of my closest ties to my Colombian culture #and lately it’s like #I’m forgetting Spanish I’ve learned bc I don’t practice enough. my food sucks. but I don’t wanna lose those ties #I did get a Latin American cookbook last year #and it has some authentic Colombian recipes #I learned arepa. which I didn’t like growing up but I’m learning to figure a way they’re alright lol #and a sancocho recipe!! my dad loves making sancocho #I made it once from my book and I think it was decently good #people make fun of me for eating beans all the time but they DONT GET IT #uugghnhhgjgjgjgh whatever I’m just sad I suck at cooking lol 😭
