Abstract
Since the declaration of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) as a pandemic, it remains a widespread infection with a major impact on global resources and health infrastructure. The hallmark of COVID-19 continues to be the well-documented effects it has on the respiratory system. With the passage of time, the involvement of the severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) virus in other systems has become more apparent, with the increased incidence of thromboembolic events, cardiac involvement as well as gastrointestinal and neurological symptoms secondary to the infection. Our case report demonstrates a presentation of vertigo, hearing loss, tinnitus, and aural fullness. Our patient was diagnosed as positive for COVID-19 by reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) nine days prior to developing these symptoms. Her COVID-19 infection was otherwise relatively mild, for which she did not seek any medical intervention. A careful assessment ruled out cerebrovascular causes and led us to the diagnosis of SARS-CoV-2-induced labyrinthitis. Our patient was successfully treated as an outpatient without unnecessary investigations and responded well to standard therapy for viral labyrinthitis as per National Health Service (NHS) guidelines. She eventually reported having made a full recovery within three weeks of the initial encounter. Audio-vestibular consequences of COVID-19 are less reported compared to other symptoms of neurological involvement, such as gustatory or olfactory dysfunction, which have become key indicators aiding in the diagnosis of the infection. Among these disorders, the commonly reported presentation is that of vestibular neuronitis. Our case report demonstrates that labyrinthitis is also among the neurological manifestations to be considered as a result of COVID-19, which can be safely managed in the community with the same strategies as those employed for other viral triggers. It also reveals the need for further research into the effects that COVID-19 may have on the audio-vestibular system.

Covid Tinnitus Treatment
Covid Tinnitus Treatment – How to Treat Tinnitus if you get it after Covid or the Covid Vaccine
Everyone today i’ve got joey remini she’s a vestibular audiologist and neuroplasticity specialist and i’ve got her here today to talk about how some people are experiencing tinnitus symptoms that have come on after having having had covered or having gotten a vaccine.
This video is sponsored by new a health and wellness program that focuses on teaching you the psychology behind building healthy habits now what i love about new is that unlike diets that focus on good and bad foods and counting calories instead focuses on teaching you the why behind your behaviors and then how to create new healthy sustainable habits that stick teaches you how to listen to your body’s hunger and fullness cues.
How to change your mindset and how to work through stress without emotional eating now this is really important because a diet is a set up for failure they just don’t work in the long run so instead new focuses on helping you change your relationship with food so that you can find peace and lasting change and it’s research backed the university of sydney’s medical center ranked number one out of 800 programs evaluated as being the most effective program is offering a one week trial for you.
Today if you sign up using the link in the description it only takes five to ten minutes to see lasting results so go ahead give it a try click out the link below to take your health survey and start your custom program today some people are experiencing tinnitus symptoms that have come on after having um having had coveted or having gotten a vaccine is that something you’re seeing a lot of yeah i’m hearing i’m getting people calling in they’re distressed they’re freaking out they’re like no one can explain this and i have these distressing tinnitus sounds in my ears in my body and it’s after getting covered or after getting the covered vaccine so yes we are seeing this.
Read more: What does tinnitus sound like? (tinnitus noises)
It’s it’s i mean the moral of this video is to say it’s nothing to be distressed about it is a change to your body and when we experience any virus or any vaccine our immune system is responding there are changes within our biological system and any change within our biology changes the way our body produces sound and these are healthy sounds healthy body sounds.
Which usually we just phase out and filter out and tune out because they’re not important to us and the number one way tinnitus starts so tinnitus is the sounds in the ears or the head that nobody else can hear they’re internal sounds they’re private it usually starts with a head cold you know a nasal cold or an you know some kind of sinus infection or people get their ears syringed out by the doctor.
There’s you know changing uncomfortable sensations and sounds around the ears and then they kind of focus there and then they check in there and then they monitor there and then for the next week they’re like is it still there is it still there so there’s um even some people get tinnitus just when a friend talks about it they’re like.
Oh okay i’ve never noticed sounds in my ears and then they start going do i have it so it’s like this shift in awareness of background sound that’s actually always been there and it’s healthy that can then shift from being in no man’s land in the back of our brain where we don’t notice it so it essentially doesn’t exist and then it shifts through our attention filters and suddenly it’s like right there so it could be pinging it could be popping it could be clicking it could be squishing it could be static roaring like there’s it’s all normal whatever you hear is your inner body sound and so for people who have experienced covert.
They’ve had these huge changes to their biology their immune systems working overtime their vital organs are working more strongly and if you think about any mechanical system whether it’s a car a dishwasher a washing machine anything there’s sound that is produced through that mechanical process through moving parts and the biological mechanisms also have lots of moving parts lots of fluid moving.
You know there’s joints and bones and but at a micro level there’s lots of neurological movements and our immune system is sending immune messages up and down the body working really hard to keep us safe and help us heal a byproduct of that is an increased amount of sound.
Covid Tinnitus Treatment
If you add on to that just regular normal immune response an intense attention to the sound a distrust of the sound a dislike of the sound a confusion of the sound and a feeling of i’m abnormal i shouldn’t hear this nobody can explain it to me i didn’t hear this last week why am i suddenly hearing it.
Now i didn’t have this when i was a little girl why am i hearing it now this must be a sign covered’s getting worse this must be a sign i’m a weak person or i’m sick or something so all of these questions are a unhelpful and b inaccurate your body sound is normal it’s okay to hear tinnitus after covert it’s okay to hear tinnitus after a covered vaccine so the best thing to do about it would be a get educational montana to citizen i would probably say read read my book.
I just wrote for that very reason there’s not many reliable resources out there for tinnitus and that’s why i wrote this book rocksteady you can learn about your anatomy you can learn about your brain you can learn about how the neurons communicate to the brain and what you can do to actually rewire the mapping of your neurons change what your body’s hearing and sensing change what your body’s feeling and you can adapt to a completely new normal what does that mean it’s reversible you might have tinnitus today that doesn’t mean.
You’ll have it for a week or a year or a month you can change your brain and you can change the way those sounds manifest and the way those sounds perpetuate the worst thing we can do is worry about it talk about it focus on it try and get rid of it right so start with education learn about it learn to not be afraid of it and if you feel like you want to use neuroplasticity to develop a new normal and go back to a new sense of peace calm confidence and ease in your body you can simply do that by having a daily practice that teaches how to remap your body how to remap your brain.
You’re in control of the process and neuroplasticity is like any skill that you can learn so a lot of people for a lot of people this is the first time they’re really noticing their tinnitus or the first time they’re really experiencing it and it makes them wonder what’s the matter with me and then the more they focus on it the worse it feels and they get stuck in this cycle of it just getting maybe perhaps feeling worse or not going away and then feeling more upset about it so most people have been given zero education about what to do about tinnitus.
They just don’t know that there are practical skills they can use to learn to heal from tinnitus and and to be honest that includes doctors and even audiologists a lot of health professionals have not chosen to specialize in tinnitus and what it is and what to do about it so because that hasn’t been their kind of educational choice they’re like oh well you know there’s nothing you can do live with it because that’s for them that’s their reality but that’s the only skills they know that’s the only skills they’re aware of correct well.
Read more: All-natural Remedies for Ringing In The Ears
I was going to say in order to overwrite so surrender and acceptance is kind of like one step that may not that may not be everything to completely overcome the tinnitus right but it’s super important the next step would be saying well what i i don’t want to feel and hear the tinnitus all day long i need something else to focus on are you.
I say to people with obsessive-compulsive disorder use that as a as a skill that benefits you get obsessive about feeling calm get obsessive about feeling at ease and connected and peace in your body and focus on that every day and every moment of the day and obsess over that so that’s what your brain actually puts more energy and more neural patterning and neural firing into yeah because otherwise we can become obsessive over our symptoms and things.
We hate and things we don’t like and we end up perpetuating what we don’t want right so we want to shift our focus obsessively into how can i get into my body this feeling of calm and confidence in ease so right so we shift out of the head into the body and then the neuroplasticity um therapy really begins to take place and we automate a new normal and before you know it you’ll forget you ever had tinnitus.
You won’t ever think about it again and you’ll create a completely new normal and you’ll feel back in your body and you’ll feel good again so we can change the brain by using these um neuroplasticity techniques which actually you design so it’s a very personal process yeah and that’s such an uplifting message because we like each person has an innate ability to heal and experiencing a new symptom or a new um sensation like tinnitus can be really alarming.
But what you’re describing is basically this experience of a new sensation of tinnitus can be a pathway to learn a bunch of new skills that can heal your relationship with yourself and with your other sensations as well and yeah and there are some really practical skills that you know you have free resources for in your website and in your book simple things that can people could even practice in probably what if they did 15 minutes a day of a body scan would that be helpful that would be plenty.
I often recommend start with so five minutes of your chosen neuroplasticity exercises three times a day is like a nice kind of beginner’s way to just dive into the process if you’re really new to this but i’ve had i’ve had chronic tinnitus obviously a lot of my clients have that come and see me and they not only overcome and heal the tinnitus they they get better knowledge of themselves and more loving kindness and respect towards themselves their entire relationship to life changes.
So i feel like neuroplasticity forces us into non-judgment self-compassion self-kindness acceptance surrender and really allowing life to flow in the direction that we choose we take back so much control by letting go it’s like it is paradoxical well that’s that’s awesome and i think that gives a lot of hope to people who are experiencing these these sensations um maybe for the first time or noticing them for the first time though some really practical steps are things.
I get you know educated from a good source where um like your book or other resources that offer some hope that don’t just tell you you know this is uh there’s nothing you can do about it because they don’t know what there is to do about it and then learn to practice some practical skills they sound impossible but skills of acceptance and surrender learning to uh get into your body with the body scan practicing loving kindness and then some of these other neuroplasticity exercises these can all help with this process of resolving those.
Uh you know the discomfort around tinnitus yeah and i know on emma’s channel and on my youtube channel there are more free discussions about tinnitus what to do about it how to overcome it so just immerse yourself in some of this proactive conversation so that you don’t feel powerless helpless hopeless it doesn’t matter if you got tinnitus from covert or from the vaccine the cause doesn’t matter the process of healing is exactly the same as anybody else with tinnitus.
i have seen time and time again regardless of diagnosis people overcome it by changing their brains and changing their relationship to themselves it’s always coming back to that neural signal that needs to be changed that we’re in control of this is the exciting piece we’re in control of how we relate to the sound we’re hearing and that’s how we change the long term firing patterns of the sound signal we can diminish them just like having a remote control and turning the volume down.
We can learn how to do that on the inside using our neural patterning and neural maps so it’s very practical it’s very methodical it’s not a miracle and anybody can do it from home awesome that is so great so helpful for us thank you so much for sharing those resources.
I will definitely put the link in the description to your book and to the uh other resources you have on your website so thank you so much joey thanks for being here it’s my absolute pleasure thanks again to noom for sponsoring this video thank you for watching and take care.

Michael Scott Has Coronavirus
Pam: How are you feeling? Dwight: *scoffs* Like his emotions will make a difference. Michael, what are your symptoms?
Michael (over the speaker phone): When I turn off the TV, I hear this sound, it’s very high pitched- it’s like someone’s going ‘EEEEEEEE’ in my ear. Also... I have a very strong craving for banana bread, but I’m not sure that’s related.
Oscar: That sounds like tinnitus. I don’t think that’s one of the symptoms.
Phyllis: Sometimes I crave banana bread, too. Kelly: Banana bread sounds so good right now. Kevin: Wait, who has banana bread? Angela: No one has banana bread, Kevin.
Pam: Are you sure you have the virus? You’re... not confusing this with anything else?
Michael: No, Pam. I - The test said that I had it, okay? I answered every question honestly, just like it said. It only took me 30 minutes. Jim: ...You answered questions?
Pam: ...Michael, Was this an online test? Michael: Yes, Pam,  and it told me I have the virus. I don’t- I don’t think you’re taking this seriously.

My number one priority it protecting my family It seems that as the Coronavirus takes precedent, big data and big telecom are rushing to roll out 5G near your home. Many people may see this as a step forward, but after hours of research, I have to share that it's not a step in the right direction. Simply put... Being near 5G is like putting our bodies into a giant microwave. Some of the common side effects are: headaches, tinnitus, heart palpitations, brain fog, eye pressure, night sweats...the list goes on and on and possibly turning into worse symptoms over time such as tumors, cancers and oxidative stress related to all sorts of degenerative disease. So what can we do about it? Up until now, there was nothing we could do to fully protect ourselves from these fields and radiation. But via a revolutionary invention from Germany, we can now safely protect our entire home. @synergyscienceinc Qi-Technology is the only technology in the world, proven by double-blind studies to combat the harmful effects of 5G, WiFi, electrical frequencies and radiation in the EMF fields.Turning your home into a safe-haven sanctuary as if you were bathing in the forest. Effect of COVID and Vaccination: Tinnitus
In some people, COVID makes their tinnitus worse or even causes it to be activated. Additionally, those with tinnitus have difficulties as a result of the pandemic's forced lifestyle adjustments. Tinnitus is the perception of noise in the ears and head, such as ringing. It causes despair and anxiety, as well as a decrease in emotional well-being. Tinnitus (ringing in the ears) has been documented as a side effect of the coronavirus vaccine. Nobody should have to suffer as a result of surviving the fatal illness; call us right now at +1 (469) 545-9983 to schedule an appointment.

Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Coronavirus

Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Coronavirus
Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Coronavirus
We do know from recent studies on coronavirus that there is a link between some cases of covet 19 and hearing loss and sudden hearing loss in one ear. So that’s an interesting finding that certainly more research needs to be done on but because it is a virus we know we can have a viral attack of the inner ear. Which can cause structural damage and subsequent hearing loss we also are seeing about a 40 percent increase in tinnitus for patients that had tinnitus prior to coronavirus.
Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Coronavirus
So we think just the fatigue and the symptoms of the coronavirus are amplifying tinnitus for patients certainly the stress of the recovery involved with covet 19 is most likely to blame.
While we’re covering so instrumental music tv anything in the background that’s soothing for you or pleasant to listen to distract the brain away from the tinnitus. while you’re getting better so although a lot of people are at home and isolating or in quarantine during this period of time.
If they’re experiencing coronavirus try to avoid silence because being in a completely quiet room or quiet house is not ideal. If you do already have tinnitus or your tinnitus is spiking. It is a stressful time that we’re living in now and we know stress is a huge exacerbator for tinnitus and so dealing with subconscious stress.
You know a lot of people think oh i’m handling this fine. I’m not under any you know undue stress because i like staying home. i’m an introvert and i don’t mind not going out to eat and these kinds of things but what we do know is the stress that impacts tinnitus. The most is really that subconscious stress that you might not even be aware of but it’s more your limbic system.
Where our emotional center resides and if someone’s saying you know. i’m really sad because i haven’t seen my grandkids for months. I can’t get together with my family over the holidays these types of things are creating a lot of stress. And unfortunately stress accelerates amplifies increases a person’s tinnitus volume. So we would again advise to use a sound rich environment and anything soothing relaxing that can calm calm those systems down.

What is COVID Ear and How Coronavirus Can Lead to Tinnitus, Vertigo or Hearing Loss Symptoms
Common symptoms of coronavirus are cough, cold, sore throat, fever and fatigue but now Covid-19 patients are reporting ringing in the ears or hearing loss while fighting the virus or a few weeks after recovering. Experts have termed it as ‘Covid Ear’.Also Read – Omicron Sub-Variant That Is More Infectious, Fast Spreading Than ‘Original Version’ Found In 57 Countries: WHO
Dr Santosh Jha, Pulmonologist and Critical Care Specialist, Porvoo Transition Care, told Indian Express, “Coronavirus attacks lungs. But, apart from affecting the respiratory system, it also affects the ear, nose and throat. Loss of smell and taste are among the peculiar symptoms of Covid-19. In addition, multiple patients also reported hearing loss along with ringing sounds in the ear, known as tinnitus. This is known as Covid ear”. Also Read – 7 Warning Signs of Cancer in Women That Shouldn’t be Ignored
Dr Jha further explained the inner tissue of the human ear contains proteins that are susceptible to attack by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. Thus, our ear may also show signs in the form of loss of balance or tinnitus. Also Read – Allow Theatres To Operate At 100% Capacity: Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce Urges Bommai Govt
What are the symptoms of the Covid ear that one can experience?
Loss of hearing
Tinnitus
Loss of balance
Ear pain
Dr Jha says that covid ear depends on the severity of the symptoms. Patients with mild symptoms can recover in 7-14 days, but patients with severe symptoms takes a longer time to recover.
What to do if you have covid ear?
Dr Jha says that covid ear can be prevented by:
Take proper medication
Stay hydrated.
Eat well and get plenty of rest.
Soothe your cough and sore throat with honey or over-the-counter cough medicines.
Get medical help if symptoms increase.

People recovering from COVID-19, the infection caused by the novel coronavirus, have reported persisting symptoms such as fatigue or suffering other health complications. Here's taking a look at long COVID and its symptoms.
What is long COVID
According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, post-COVID conditions, also known as long COVID or long-haul COVID, are a wide range of new, returning, or ongoing health problems people can experience four or more weeks after first being infected with the virus that causes COVID-19.
It is also known as post-acute COVID-19, long-term effects of COVID, or chronic COVID.
According to the UK's NHS, the recovery time for COVID-19 differs for everybody but most make a full recovery within 12 weeks. For some, however, symptoms can last longer and this does not appear to be linked to the severity of the symptoms during the first COVID-19 infection.
In other words, people who had mild symptoms or no symptoms can still experience symptoms later on or have long-term problems.
What are the symptoms?
The CDC and NHS list the following as common symptoms, some of which may also overlap:
extreme tiredness (fatigue)
shortness of breath
chest pain or tightness, stomach
problems with memory and concentration (sometimes referred to as brain fog)
difficulty sleeping (insomnia)
heart palpitations
dizziness
pins and needles
joint pain
depression and anxiety
tinnitus, earaches
feeling sick, diarrhoea, stomach aches, loss of appetite
a high temperature, cough, headaches, sore throat, changes to sense of smell or taste
rashes
mood changes
Changes in period cycles
Symptoms that get worse after physical activity
The American Psychological Association, citing studies in JAMA and the BMJ, states that around 10 percent of patients develop long COVID.  According to the World Health Organisation's policy brief, "In the wake of the pandemic:" Preparing for Long COVID," it can affect anyone, but women and health care workers seem to be at greater risk.
Meanwhile, the REACT-2 study from Imperial College London, published as a preprint, found that around a third of people in England who developed COVID-19 went on to experience long-term symptoms. The researchers found that long COVID was more common among women than men (1.5 times as likely) and in people who were overweight or obese, who smoked, lived in deprived areas, or had been admitted to hospital. In contrast, persistent COVID-19 symptoms were lower in people of Asian ethnicity.
“Increasing age was also linked with having persistent symptoms, with the risk rising by 3.5 percent with each decade of life,” the Imperial College adds.
In India, a follow-up study on a cohort of patients with acute coronavirus infection across three facilities of the Max healthcare group has found that 40 percent of them had 'long-Covid' symptoms.
Dr Sandeep Budhiraja, Group Medical Director of Max Super Specialty Hospital, who led the study titled “Long term health consequences of COVID-19 in hospitalised patients from north India: A follow-up study of up to 12 months”, said that "no correlation"  was found between developing post-Covid symptoms and age, gender, comorbidities or the severity of disease; however the duration of post-Covid symptoms had significant correlations to the disease severity at the time of admission but not to age, gender and comorbidities.
Fatigue, which was most commonly reported, showed a significant association with age. Only 1 of 44 (2.3 percent) in the age group of less than 30 years had fatigue, which increased to 21.5 percent in the age-group of 60 years or more, the doctor said.
What are the Multiorgan or Autoimmune conditions?
According to the CDC, some who have had severe COVID-19 can also "experience multiorgan effects or autoimmune conditions over a longer time with symptoms lasting weeks or months after COVID-19 illness." Multiorgan effects can affect most, if not all, body systems, including heart, lung, kidney, skin, and brain functions.
Some people, mostly children, may also experience a rare condition known as multisystem inflammatory syndrome (MIS) during or immediately after a COVID-19 infection.
Wha are the effects of hospitalisation and COVID-19 illness
The CDC further states that hospitalisations and severe illnesses for lung-related diseases, including COVID-19, can cause health effects like severe weakness and exhaustion during the recovery period. Those who receive treatment in hospitals can also go through effects such as post-intensive care syndrome (PICS).
PICS refers to health effects that begin when a person is in an intensive care unit (ICU) and can remain after a person returns home. These effects can include severe weakness, problems with thinking and judgment, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD).
Some symptoms after hospitalisation can be similar to the ones listed above as common symptoms and it can be difficult to know whether they are caused by the effects of hospitalisation, the long-term effects of the virus, or a combination of both. They also may be complicated by other effects related to the COVID-19 pandemic, including mental health effects from isolation, negative economic situations, and lack of access to healthcare for managing underlying conditions.
What are the impacts?
In a statement on 25 February 2021, Professor Martin McKee, European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies notes that long COVID can be extremely debilitating and can have a huge impact on people’s lives.
"Many are unable to return to work or have a social life. Many have described how it affects their mental health, especially as the course of the condition is often fluctuating; just as they feel they are getting better the symptoms return. And of course, it has important economic consequences for them, their families and for society," he says.

COVID-19 has negative effects on hypertension patients: Experts Coronavirus has negatively impacted people suffering from hypertension, which is the primary risk factor for cardiovascular diseases claiming millions of lives every year, said Dr. Mustafa Kemal Erol, the head of the Turkish Cardiology Association. On the World Hypertension Day, Erol said that hypertension, besides increasing the risk of cardiovascular disease and heart attacks, also leads to kidney failure and development of cerebrovascular disease. He stated that cardiovascular and circulatory system diseases are still the primary cause of death in the world and Turkey apart from the coronavirus pandemic. He urged people not to forget other deadly cardiovascular system diseases. “COVID-19 is of course our primary area of struggle, but this does not mean that chronic diseases and other causes of death have disappeared. When we look at the death statistics in Turkey, we see that 37.1% of all deaths in 2019 are due to circulatory system diseases,” he said. He further suggested that while hypertension has no link with the virus, the infection gets more severe in patients with existing heart problems. “Patients with target organ damage due to hypertension, including patients with cardiovascular system diseases such as heart failure, heart attack, kidney failure, the infection has a more devastating effect. The course of the disease becomes more severe, and more patients die,” he said. He said since the pandemic has forced people to remain indoors, it can lead to serious problems such as inactivity, weight gain, and obesity. “This inactivity increased the risk of obesity and stress. We are saddened to lose our beloved ones. All these incidents have negatively affected the blood pressure and cardiovascular disease,” he said. He advised people over 65 years old, where the incidence of hypertension is already high, to remain physically active even at home since they are restricted to go out for more than a year. “We recommend our patients to pay close attention to their diets, not to abandon the salt-free diet for blood pressure patients, to do simple physical-fitness exercises and, to not eat when they are bored, not to gain weight, and to restrict their calorie intake,” he added. He also said hypertension patients should not stop taking their medicines and check their blood pressure regularly. Noting that one in three people have hypertension in Turkey, Erol said 45% of the patients are not even aware of the illness. “Hypertension is an insidious disease and its symptoms are extremely subtle. It may give general symptoms such as headache, dizziness, and tinnitus,” he said, adding that people learn this “painful truth” after suffering a heart attack or stroke. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), hypertension, also known as high or raised blood pressure, is a condition in which the blood vessels have persistently raised pressure. The WHO said that hypertension is diagnosed if blood pressure readings are higher than 140/90 or above on two different days. https://timespakistan.com/covid-19-has-negative-effects-on-hypertension-patients-experts/19237/

Tinnitus & Covid-19 Vaccine Side Effects
New Post has been published on https://thebestsolution4u.com/tinnitus-covid-19-vaccine-side-effects/
Tinnitus & Covid-19 Vaccine Side Effects
Tinnitus, Covid-19, & Covid-19 Vaccine Side Effects
COVID and Tinnitus. I’m going share my thoughts on how both COVID and the COVID vaccines might impact the severity of tinnitus. So, question number one. Can COVID, can having Coronavirus cause tinnitus. There is an article called Changes in Tinnitus Experiences During the COVID-19 Pandemic.
Tinnitus, Covid-19, & Covid-19 Vaccine Side Effects
This is from frontiers in public health. This was released in 2020 and this article surveyed 3,100 people and 237 of the respondents reported that they had suffered Coronavirus symptoms and among that smaller group who had suffered Coronavirus symptoms, about 40% said that their symptoms of Tinnitus had worsened.
So, there seems to be some relationship with having the experience of COVID getting Coronavirus, the symptoms that come with that and then how that can change the perception of tinnitus. So, that has been noted in the medical research. and why is that?
Well COVID itself Coronavirus can potentially cause infection of the nerves of our nervous system that connect the senses into the spine, the senses into the brain. So, COVID itself can potentially cause infection of the nerves, autoimmune damage.
Read more: Tinnitus, Hearing Loss, and Coronavirus
The function of our autoimmune system can be damaged and then potentially blood clots changes to the cardiovascular system. I’m sure from your research, you’ve learned that tinnitus as a symptom is quite sensitive, meaning that changes to our psychology, changes to our body, getting sick, it can trigger tinnitus, it can even bring it from I never heard tinnitus or barely heard it at all to this is a dominating force in my life.
Additionally, getting sick or having some other change in life can bring on an increase in loudness of tinnitus. So, the findings from that study where they surveyed thousands of people and out of those who had COVID they realized that about 40% said that their symptoms of tinnitus had worsened. Meaning they already had it and it temporarily changed. Did not stay permanently changed, but it did change.
So, those findings were preliminary and they relied mainly on patient questionnaires so, there’s possibly some overestimates. Other viral infections, measles, CMV, other similar viral infections they can cause hearing problems.
So, there is some link between certain viruses and how that can affect the hearing system particularly the cochlea, the hearing organ and the hearing nerve. It’s rather complicated. It’s rather sophisticated as an audiologist.
What I need to know is, okay these potential viruses can affect hearing and that might cause temporary changes in tinnitus or that might change hearing in a more permanent level. Other factors that are important to discuss here are that, think about what are the symptoms of getting COVID?
well, fever, congestion, headache, stress, a significant amount of anxiety for in fear of losing our life or the life of our loved ones. Now, if COVID causes those symptoms and those side effects then is the tinnitus caused by those symptoms?
Or is the tinnitus caused by the virus directly? Very hard to say. In some cases we won’t be able to know directly but it’s certainly evident that having a fever, getting sick, being congested, having a headache, being under high periods of stress and high periods of anxiety, that can change the tinnitus perception of either making it louder if we already had it. Some people would call that a tinnitus spike or it can potentially create tinnitus where previously you didn’t hear it at all, or maybe slightly here and there, but then suddenly it’s a symptom.
It’s a sound that’s constantly in our experience. And maybe some of you who are watching this can relate to that. The second sub-question about COVID is the COVID vaccine. This is quite interesting how tinnitus as a health condition, as a symptom, the virus itself can affect tinnitus and the vaccine which prevents the virus can also affect tinnitus.
It’s pretty unique in that regard. So, can the COVID vaccine cause tinnitus or make it worse? There was a study in the United Kingdom, in England that looked at the side effects from vaccine for the Pfizer and the AstraZeneca vaccines.
So, 20 million doses of those vaccines were administered during this period, and they have a system called the Yellow Card reporting system, where individuals can report their side effects and they’re encouraged to report side effects whatever side effects come from these vaccines Because these vaccines are so new, there’s been no vaccine in history that’s been released to the public so quickly, about one year, less than a year it’s been, created, tested, produced, manufactured, released.
So, in a way we’re all part of this clinical trial because this process much more expedited than typical vaccines, as you are probably aware of. So, 20 million doses were administered in England during this time period and a total of 116,000 Yellow Card reporting adverse effects were reported to the group.
And out of those, a total of 780 individuals reported tinnitus. Whether they had tinnitus as a side-effect or their tinnitus change significantly as a side effect. So, from that research, from that article, from the government of England, they’re saying which is the equivalent of our CDC, we’ll call it, in the US that fewer than one in 32,000 people are reporting tinnitus as a side effect of those major vaccines for COVID. So, that classifies the side effect as very rare.
That’s a good sign, Many people with tinnitus tell me, as I work via Zoom sessions with telehealth patients with tinnitus, they tell me all the time that , the last thing they can imagine is how are they going to live if their tinnitus gets worse? And I feel like that’s a common fear of, someone gets tinnitus they start to do everything in their power to help them or they’re thinking everything they’re doing in their power is to help their condition because they can’t live with it getting any worse.
Read more: Extremely Powerful Tinnitus Sound Therapy
They, they don’t want to be in that state. And of course, of course you don’t deserve to be in that state. No one does. So, rest assured the major vaccines have tinnitus as a side effect is a very rare phenomenon. Now, you may say, well this system relies on people reporting side effects. And that there could be many people who just didn’t choose to report the side effect. And that’s a very true point.
This is not perfect. In fact, none of us are perfect. I strive to do my best this research strives to do their best and so do you in getting better with tinnitus. So, this is the best information we have and hopefully this gives you some confidence that if you’re considering the pros and cons of getting the COVID vaccine, if tinnitus is a make or break, if you’re scared of getting the vaccine because it might affect your tinnitus that’s very low chance.
So, statistically, it’s very rare for that to happen to you. Feels good I was glad to learn that result. Yes, I do try to follow the research and stay evidence-based so, it’s even better when the evidence is actually helpful in saying that we don’t have to worry about that.
