A fight in the Timberview High School classroom resulted in gunshot wounds to four people, including a teacher. Arlington police launched a manhunt for the suspect, 18-year-old Timothy Simpkins, and arrested him shortly after the incident. The shooting incident occurred around 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6. Another woman, who said she was related to the Simpkins family, alleged that Timothy had been robbed twice at school. "He was robbed. He was taped. It didn't just happen once, it happened twice. He was scared, he was scared. There's no justification for anyone ... getting hurt," Carol Harrison-Lafayette told the Dallas Morning News. "We have to see the fact that bullying is real. And it takes us all. And I apologize. As a family, we apologize for any pain," she added. Describing Simpkins as a "loving and outgoing person," Carol noted that he was harassed for wearing nice clothes and driving a nice car. "I'm not trying to justify the gun they brought, but when you're being bullied, when there are bullies, across this nation you hear that young people ... commit suicide," he said, adding, "But he was trying to protect himself. So we hope that the police department will do the investigation correctly. There will also be independent investigations so that we can get to the bottom of what really happened. " Speaking at a news conference about concerns about bullying raised by some parents, schools spokesman Donald Williams noted that the Mansfield district is conducting a full investigation of the shooting and its cause. "What I'm going to say is that we take the safety of our students seriously on our faculty and staff," he said. An update on school shooter Timothy Simpkins, he has multiple attempted murder charges.
An update on school shooter Timothy Simpkins, he has multiple attempted murder charges. Simpkins was also charged with unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place. Simpkins should continue to be considered innocent until proven guilty. BUT it’s difficult to watch Liberal Larrys and Lindas condemn individuals like Kyle Rittenhouse calling them white supremacists and spreading misinformation that they were part of a militia and then look the other way for a Timothy Simpkins.
This confirms the Texas law I quoted in my Facebook Fact check episode. The minute Simpkins carried that weapon within 1,000 feet of the school grounds he broke the law. According to this article Simpkins has violated the conditions of his bond at least twice. This violent individual, who has know broke conditions of his bond twice is able to walk the streets?
To paraphrase Thomas Binger during the Rittenhouse trial he brought a gun to fight. Every time a white individual shoots someone of color they are raciest and it’s the gun’s fault but with Simpkins it’s because he was bullied.
Direct Quotes:
Timothy Simpkins, a teenager accused of shooting three people inside Mansfield Timberview High School in October 2021, is now facing multiple attempted murder charges related to the shooting.
On Oct. 6, 2021, police said Simpkins was involved in a fight in a classroom when he pulled out a gun and opened fire injuring students Shaniya McNeely and Zacchaeus Selby and teacher Calvin Pettit.
A pregnant woman who was also injured in the shooting was treated and released at the school.
Simpkins fled the school after the shooting and later that afternoon, accompanied by his attorney, surrendered to Arlington police. Simpkins was taken into custody and charged with three counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Simpkins posted a $75,000 bond the next day and was freed
A Tarrant County grand jury on Friday true billed the aggravated assault charges filed last year and added four more charges, including three charges of attempted murder and one charge of unlawful carrying of a weapon in a prohibited place, the school which is in the city limits of Arlington but part of the neighboring Mansfield ISD.
After the shooting, Simpkins' family said he was a victim of bullying by more than one person because he has nice things. Arlington Chief of Police Al Jones said bullying was not a factor in the shooting and that Simpkins was involved in "high-risk activity."
Since his arrest on Oct. 6, 2021, court records show Simpkins has violated the conditions of his bond at least twice, once by failing to provide a urine test just before Christmas and more recently, on Jan. 23, by failing to abide by the 24-hour home confinement order
