Ok I finally watched "T&B 2 - Rising" and I have some thoughts.

First of all, I LOVED it. Great music, cool plot and spectacular fighting sequences. One hell of a film. Not a moment that was boring.

Secondly, I'm obsessed with Fire Emblem. The way their journey of self-discovery is treated seriously. The scene where their female alter-ego is choking them on the roof, and instead of fighting back, they HUG her. It honestly brought tears to my eyes.

And then Ryan. I can't help loving him. He's awful, but I just can't get enough of him. His design, the pure charm. Absolute star. His power? I love it. And there was this one scene that really drew my attention - when he said that he knows that Barnaby sees him as the villain. It didn't mean that much in the film itself, but knowing the context (his backstory about his "friends" leaving him to die after he lost control over his power) changes everything. I couldn't help but feel bad for him. Ryan has poor understanding of other people's emotions, so he assumes the worst, and then tries to cover it with fake confidence. Not that I find that relatable, oh no. Not at all (<- his ass is lying!!!) Ryan turned out to be a surprisingly interesting character.

Overall, amazing stuff. I can't believe that it took 8 years to release the second season after "Rising" - it's such a gem! Every next piece of this franchise makes me appreciate it more. The way I literally squeaked with excitement a few times. This is the type of superhero media that make me feel like a kid again, in the best way possible.

10/10 recommended

Tiger & Bunny Week Day 1

Favorite Character

Lately, I've really been into Subaru Sengoku, aka Mr. Black, aka Hello Goodbye.

He's basically the Red (or in this case Black) Ranger we've all been waiting for. Hot-blooded, but with a good heart. He's a younger version of Kotetsu (Wild Tiger), but with spice. Don't get me wrong, I'll always love Kotetsu, but I also love Subaru. It also helps that in the English Dub, Subaru is voiced by one of my favorite actors... I wonder how Akechi would react to this.

Favorite Episode

As I have said in the past, Episode 5 of the first series is my favorite. I like how Kotetsu always tries to give Barnaby a happy birthday, only for bad luck to strike at every possible moment and Barnaby putting the blame on him. Yeesh, Barnaby, the guy just wanted to make your day special, not ruin your life. Makes me glad Bunny changed his mind later in the series.

But as of late, the second episode of the second series seems good, too. It shows us a little more of Subaru's background. (Of course, we only get a glimpse of it. To see the full story of Subaru before becoming a Sternbild Hero, we have to read the manga which I'm still waiting to be printed in America.)

Favorite Movie

It's really hard to choose. I like both movies very much. But I suppose if I must choose one, I guess it would be Tiger & Bunny: The Rising.

I think I like this movie because it shows how much Kotetsu and Barnaby try so hard to cope with the fact that they can't work together anymore only to realize that they need each other more than anyone thinks. I also like the introduction of new characters, especially Ryan Goldsmith/Golden Ryan. He may have left at the end of the movie, it would not be the last we see of him.

P.S. As of February of the years I wrote this post, this movie turned 10 years old.

Favorite Song

Well, I guess it would have to be Shougai wairudo sengen. It's a song sung by Kotetsu. The style of the song really connects with his personality as someone who is wild, but at the same time a good person who is brave. Of course, Linear Blue wo Kikinagara by UNISON SQUARE GARDEN is good, too, as it tries to sum up the plot of the first movie, Tiger & Bunny: The Beginning, especially during the end credits when we get to see scenes that we can only see in the actual series or didn't appear in the film.

Well, that's it for Day 1. I really look forward to the days to come in Tiger & Bunny Week.

I accidentally pirated an mp3 audio file so I have been listening to it, I probably listen to it around 2-3 times a day I have been listening English dub and it's really good They have an openly gay person (pretty sure they were supposed to come out a nonbinary but eh) and Alltwen other cast are okay with it and are openly supportive Came out in 2014 The main plot is that Tiger and Barnaby are in the second league and they suddenly get offered to be in the first league But plot twist Tiger wasn't ever coming back and Barnaby is partnered up with a new partner (golden ryan) Barnaby has to figure out how to cope with this change while figuring out (with the rest of the heroes) what do all these mysterious attacks mean (and how they are related to justice day) Tiger has to figure out what he is other than a hero I am in love with Barnaby's English VA, the way he says 'Kotetsu' makes them feel like they are inlove and he is heartbroken at Tiger for leaving him Also Tiger and Barnaby are so queercoded (the tram behind it mostly view Tiger and Bunny as a romantic partnership but the statement is its up to the viewers

Shoutout to Lunatic in The Rising. These people came up to him like ‘hey, the dude who took over Hero TV is a corporate piece of shit and we all have a personal vendetta against him so we’re probably gonna kill him; it’d be cool if you could help us’ and he was SO down for it.

Even when the heroes stopped them from merking Schneider, Yuri was still like ‘alright but I’m still a JUDGE and I’m gonna ruin this man’s life one way or another’. And then he did.

Favorite Character:

Nathan, Nathan, Nathan!!! 💖😍💖😍💖😍💖

She's fierce, bold, over the top, fiery both literally and figuratively, brazen, confident, cheeky; not the type of character I usually connect with at all.

They're also soft, vulnerable, nurturing, deep, dedicated, sweet; my heart was always going to be theirs.

Favorite Episode:

I think as a very devoted FireSky shipper I might be contractually obligated to say episode 2x04 😅

But It's not just because it's "their" episode; I really like the message that even in a relationship that seems pretty much perfect you have to open up, to keep making the effort to communicate, to let yourself be seen, or sooner or later everything is going to crumble.

(also, it has Keith holding a kitten. Like. Come on.)

Favorite Movie:

Hands down, The Rising.

You could have given me literally just the scenes involving Nathan and I would have been INFINITELY delighted; not only was her plot the most pleasant surprise ever, after the way the character was treated in Season 1, but it was a truly beautiful and deeply touching glimpse into their heart and mind, and a lovely story of reclaimed self-acceptance and acceptance and support from Nathan's friends.

But on top of that, the rest of the movie (apart from the extremely awkward CGI elements) is just amazing. Kotetsu and Barnaby falling into their old patterns, but with their eyes wide open this time, refusing to stop looking back at each other as they walk down what they think has to be their path. The way they made every character shine with just a few short scenes and details (the montage of everyone worrying alone the night before Justice Day gives me shivers every time). Kaede's role in it all. The bad guys not being the worst guys in the story by far, after all. Kotetsu's line to Lunatic about Barnaby, revealing that Lunatic, while apparently having comparable motivations, doesn't get Barnaby at all, while Kotetsu, silently, lovingly, understands him to the core.

It's just a really, really good movie.

Favorite Song

Mh. It might be a toss-up between AIDA and Harmonized Finale... which I think AIDA wins by a smidgen.

It just makes me smile every time I hear it... and also want to scream "baka-sa, baka-SA!" along with ano at those two, lol 😂
