Just wanna share that I bought the Loki-Mobius lego figures after the finale and set them up facing each other on my shelf so that they can at least be together in whatever alternate universe that counts lmao. Had a hard time putting on the wigs but they look cute holding each other's prop (I switched the prunning stick to Loki and the second dagger to Mobius) so it's totally worth it. This story also scratches the itch of more of the personal consequences of rhaenyra and criston sleeping together (if that makes sense) that I’ve been looking for. I also wanted to ask how does elyana find out about that night? And how does she grieve in the days that follow? Also did they slowly fall for each other or was it like and oh. /oh/ situation? Now on to the toxic loves of my life - 🤗

Let's start with how they fell in love with each other - Elyana and Criston grew up together in Blackhaven. His father was a stewart to her uncle and he was the best friend slash companion of her older brother Tristan. They were pretty much always together, growing up together - and growing in love with each other.

It's this sweet kind of childhood love that naturally evolves into something deeper and more mature without either of them really realising that things are shifting between them. To them it just feels like it has always been this way. It's sweet and pure and romantic, but it's not usually the kind of love that stands the test of time (especially not in King's Landing of all places).

When they get reunited at the Heir's Tournament they think their love will still exist in that sweet state of childish purity and innocence, but it can't. They have changed and so has the world they live in.

Criston becomes a Kingsguard and the sworn protector to Rhaenyra (who in this moment plain and simple choses pissing off Otto Hightower over one of her closest friends who she at least strongly suspects is in love with Criston). And then Criston and Rhaenyra sleep together and things just royally go to shit.

Elyana hears the rumours Otto Hightower is spreading and despite her own grievances with the princess she worries. She goes to see Criston, to ask him if he knows anything about it and he just breaks instantly, telling her everything and it all goes about as horrible as one would imagine - he slept with Rhaenyra (and it digs a little deeper into the whole question of how the issue of consent might have been seen in a whole different light had the roles been reversed) and he is not sure how he feels about the princess (it's all his vanity and his false sense of pride) and if he really still loves Elyana how come he never thought she was worth more than his oath?

Elyana then goes to confront Rhaenyra, who unsurprisingly is not the least bit apologetic and much like with Alicent just casually lets it slip how uttering any such accusation about the heir to the throne could have dire consequences - for Elyana, that is.

Elyana spends the rest of this day and most of the night like most GoT characters would - she gets mighty drunk and feels sorry for herself. Her brother thinks this is the perfect time to (once again) remind her of her duty to the family and how the more or less freshly widowed Borros Baratheon is looking to marry again. Things get very heated and Elyana somehow lets it slip that she and Criston slept together the night before he took the white cloak.

Tristan badly loses his temper and in the end he leaves her with the choice to either marry the Lord of Storm's End or be out on the streets "as whores should be". He also makes sure Elyana never gets any of the letters Criston sends her - apologising, begging for her forgiveness, begging for her not to marry Borros, begging her to run away with him.

They don't see each other again for over a decade and they both think the other just... moved on. But they haven't. And they never will.

The other anon talked about how they associated Owen to Jed is so valid. I first saw him in Shanghai Noon (Roy my beloved) and its sequels and then the next movie was The Royal Tenenbaums (Eli my beloved) and by the time I knew how to separate the roles from the artist, he was in NATM 😂which means dooming myself to think "oh so he's just a cowboy irl" for the longest time. It took me becoming a pretentious film student and diving headfirst into Wes Anderson filmography to deprogram myself lmao. And now that I'm a through and through Owen appreciator, he really is just spotted in the wilds wearing cowboy hats and handkerchiefs around neck! 😂😂
