why was bashir a closeted homosexual in the 23rd century? like dude it's fine you can relax. actually wait the tense here is kinda funny. i used past tense because ds9 is from the 90s and i watched it in 2021 so in both cases it's from the past in my view. but when talking about a text you speak in the present: why IS bashir a closeted homosexual in the 23rd century? but the statement is half about how ds9 takes place in the scifi future: why WILL bashir be a closeted homosexual in the 23rd century?

if you guys are referring to the post I saw about Malenia and Maria then I have to butt in and say that I am 90% sure it was just about not attacking ppl for having less popular hcs??? there was no lesbian hate even in the notes. Ppl should be able to ship what they want without being judged for it. I have seen a lot toxic Maria and Malenia fans too sadly. but ig I don’t understand where you saw lesbian hate?/gen

existing as a lesbian in any fan space makes answering this really hard — because i have seen shitty takes made at the expense of my community hundreds upon hundreds of times. after awhile it starts grating on you. i have seen people shit-talking about those specific characters a deeply disappointing number of times. this ask is hard to answer. explaining lesbophobia is hard for me because of how much it tends to sting. but at the very least, i hope maybe talking in broad strokes might help, since i can’t be sure we’re talking about the same thing. i posted about it here so it could be rebloggable, since i don’t want this one breaching containment.

having said that, i think (???) i know the one you are referring to. i have that user blocked for being a transphobe and just general harassment, but queer people talk to each other, so i’ve had the misfortune of seeing it. the post is lesbophobic. it was made by a user with a history of lesbophobia (& a lot of other awful shit). even from a single cursory glance, the notes of the post are brimming with lesbophobia (mostly people shitting on masculine & butch women). maybe you just have the right people blocked, or maybe they were flagged and taken down for it. either way, i am not going to be looking at it for longer than i have to, because i blocked that person for a reason. the last time i pointed out bigotry from that user in particular, i was inundated with strangers (at least one of them her friend) calling me slurs. my inbox was a cesspit for months. i do not want to have to deal with that again. i don’t have the mental bandwidth for it. having said that, i do sincerely mean it when i say i’m sorry i can’t offer a better explanation, because i’m choosing to believe you when you say you’re being genuine. i know DMs can be intimidating, but i would really rather discuss this privately if you have questions re: that post/user in particular (even if it’s via a burner account, no judgment here)
