My absolute favorite thing about harrowhark is that under all the robes, veils, and the countless bone-jewelry of her office as reverend daughter, that girl is a jeans-and-a-tshirt with big boots type dyke. A dig in the dirt bitch

i'm never going to stop thinking about annabelle cane. how manipulation was the only language her mother spoke, and so she learned at an early age to become a master manipulator herself, because it was the only way she could survive in that environment. how an intense need for control is a common response to trauma. how she knew she had to leave her family because there were too many variables, too many things she couldn't control. how her first attempt to break free of her abusive upbringing led her to her first encounter with the web, which left her with a fear of spiders that eventually led her to join that study at surrey university. how she was literally a victim of a highly unethical psychological experiment, and yet she calls it her apotheosis. how she is the one pulling all the strings, but at the same time just a puppet herself. how she speaks almost wistfully of her past self who read war & peace for fun. how she goes to all these lengths to achieve the outcome the mother of puppets desires, but we never learn what she wants, how she feels about anything. how she tells jon about her past and then suggests it may have all been a lie, like her own life is a story to be moulded to her whims, like nothing that happened to her was ever real. how she is crafting the narrative, but the story has never been about her. "let it never be said that i do not dance the steps i am assigned."

When it becomes clear that Pryce is threatening to walk Minkowski out of an airlock in Ep57 The Devil's Plaything, Eiffel says No for three lines in a row. The first of these lines is a low Oh no of horrified realisation. The third is a defiant shout against the idea that he'd surrender. But nowadays it's the second of these lines that gets me the most: a No that's soft, understated, almost breathed, not addressed to Minkowski or Pryce, just a word which escapes him as the full reality of what might happen sinks in. It's quiet enough that it'd be easy to miss if you were listening in a loud place. It's not an initial sound of realisation. It's not an attempt at defiance. It's not Eiffel trying to plead with Pryce or snap Minkowski out of Pryce's control. He'll do those things later: yelling at both Pryce and Minkowski, banging against the airlock door, crying out in desperation. But before that, he breathes the word No, and he's not trying to communicate anything to anyone. He's just whispering No, expressing beneath his breath - perhaps unconsciously - that this cannot happen. Minkowski cannot die.

A text I sent my friend as I spiraled (haha jk) over vampolitics regarding vague plotlines about a multi-chapter suckening fic that diverges after episode 4 and explores an au in which Edward's plotline doesn't play out quite like it did and there's other plays for power alongside his own and what if some key events still happened but, like, a little to the left and within the context of this slightly altered version (an au if you will) and what if the twins and Gref went with Arthur to London and found more and what about that guy Uncle Lazarus huh something up with him and what if the twins leaned more into their royal status and did something with it (or tried to in a more concerted effort) and Mary Davis will be there (mirror Mary sorry this is after ep 4) and obviously Vex & Viv and what if there's a touch more domesticity cuz I'm a fool for that and what if Gref realizes he's been manipulated and they have to confront this and it's messy and awful and necessary and there's layers guys layers and what if I just speculate and make up lore for the stuff that will probably be answered in season 2 anyway hm and what if and what if—

the web, the spider, the mother of puppets, which controls the kids at the halfway house on hilltop road into complacency so that when they're old enough to leave they can be puppeted back to the house's basement, eat a cursed apple, and get made into a spider cocoon/egg sac: 😈🕸🕷😈
also the web: YEAH YOUR FUTURE IS TO BE AN EGG SAC BUT YOU ARE ALL STILL GOING TO BRUSH YOUR TEETH EVERY DAY OR SO HELP ME 😡🦷🪥‼️‼️‼️
