aziraphale, the one who gave the first human exiles his flaming sword as both a source of protection and warmth, who did not look on them as sinners deserving of destruction but people entitled to the best chances possible, has never once looked at crowley, a heavenly exile, with anything other than compassion and a desire to protect. from their first meeting, he never wanted anything bad to happen to him. when crowley slithers up to him in eden, he treats him like an equal rather than an adversary. when crowley appears, his eyes fill with love and excitement, his gaze turns soft and hesitant, his whole body seizes with joy of seeing him. crowley might typically the one to seek him out, but aziraphale has always welcomed him home.

kunikidas ideals have the potential to be self destructive and kunikida can be considered passively suicidal, he is also not the polite and respectful man fanon makes him out to be- *gets shot*

i think dazai would in the moment tell kunikida they should get married adn then immediately backtrack saying he was kidding but too late kunikida's already pulled out his notebook and working it out
dazai: i was just joking haha
kunikida: okay, before we get married we have to look at our finances
dazai: kunikida-kun, i was kidding
kunikida: sure, but for when we're serious. It'll be easier if we plan it out now
dazai, a little strangled: wut if we're not together by then
kunikida: don't be ridiculous. anyway, we should also have a good idea on who we'd invite... hm let's see we should have a detailed list of things that we need to get done before we get married. like a minimum amount of money in both of our saving accounts. maybe moving in together. though we should wait to buy a house closer to our wedding date.
dazai:
dazai: can we have a spring wedding
kunikida: outdoors or indoors
dazai: outdoors please

I am actually frothing at the mouth rn where the fuck is the interview where Asagiri implies that the Azure King case never occured and thus Kunikida never accidentally caused the deaths of five people and so Rokuzou never lost his father and so Kunikida never met Sasaki OR Rokuzou. Where is it. What the fuck yall. Kunikida wears a blue tie in beast because he never associates blue with death. And he never meets Dazai so there’s nobody to hammer it into his head on how his ideals aren’t trustworthy. And how this implies that Dazai somehow offed the Azure King and Apostole.

I think it can be easy to overlook in the midst of all the other stuff Snyder tackles in his movies, but I love the way he writes romantic relationships.
Kora seeing kindness as a virtue worth dying for, and Gunnar being shown to be kind above all.
Kora resisting a deeper relationship with Den - who is described with attributes the villagers admire such as the best hunter and a loyal friend. Gunnar is shown to be just a simple farmer, trusting and honest to a fault, but it is him she wants is drawn to.
Kora believes she is incapable of loving and being loved. But it’s Gunnar’s love for Kora that saves her in the end.

Y'know that one scene from Lilo and Stitch where they're at the pound adopting him and Nani's like "does it have to be this dog?" and it cuts to Stitch picking his nose with his tongue and then back to Lilo like "yes, he's good, I can tell"
That but it's Nightmare picking Killer

Artists who admit to not knowing small details about their characters and worldbuilding have inadvertently given better advice than any character design post on social media tbh. as fun as it is to come up with what your guys would order from a restaurant or the contents of their backpack or their favorite color I've run into very few people who can leave that stuff in a story (or even leave it offscreen as paratext) without it being distracting and poorly written because it's rarely in service of the narrative. a lot of that is def just down to personal taste, but it feels more like designing characters for a TTRPG

It hurts that it feels like the way Kunikida was created to be a bit more of an important character but the plot constantly shafts him
You're telling me we have a character who was introduced in the very beginning of the story, who is the main mentor to Atsushi our primary protagonist, and current partner of Dazai our secondary protagonist, so important roles to both characters who kinda share the spot of being the main protagonist.
You're also telling me that we are constantly told that he's the person who embodies the values of the ADA the most, the main organization of the manga and is one of the things that we as the audience are supposed to care the most about. So we have the character who is the human embodiment of the beliefs of the ADA, who is the character that is going to be the next leader of the ADA, and is the character that was specifically targeted to be broken first because of these reasons.

so not only all that, but Kunikida's Matchless Poet has arguably some really strong parallels to The Book. We've got:
An ability that allows the user to create anything they want by writing it into a special book.
A special book that allows anybody to create and change reality into anything they want by writing in it.
Obviously there is a massive difference being the scale, The Book being able to change reality, and The Matchless Poet only being able to create notebook sized objects to our current knowledge. I don't genuinely believe there's gonna be any relation between the two but the parallels are still there and we also don't know the full strength of Kunikida's ability due to Fukuzawa's ability and lack of a proper backstory for Kuni showing what it was like before the ADA. There is a very good chance that The Matchless Poet is stronger than what it's shown to be but its purposely kept to such a small size because of practicality.
I'm not saying that he isn't important at all, but it definitely feel's like he's been shafted the most out of the ADA, except for maybe Tanizaki. At least give us a backstory please.

currently thinking about how sigma has his back turned in half of this arc's shots. thinking about how we're seeing the prison battle from HIS perspective, from the perspective of an outsider. thinking about how we're outsiders to this too. thinking about how, like sigma, we can't even begin to understand these people. thinking about how outlandish and terrifying this behavior is from the perspective of an "ordinary person" both in the series and out. thinking about how sigma, the ordinary man, reflects all of us 🫶
