one part that absolutely irks me about canon is that star flower was canonically interested in thunder before she went for clear sky. i mean yeah in the bb! rewrite she has her own reasons for going for clear sky (murder probs) but still. can you imagine clear sky’s pov of this? some girl that you know likes your son and you decide to get with her? their whole relationship was canonically a slap in the face to thunder. like clear sky MUST have known that thunder and star flower had a thing for each other yet STILL decided to do the tango with her. this is like next level asshole behaviour

What irks me the most is how perfectly they set Star Flower up as having extremely bad vibes. She really makes an excellent manipulative villain, the sort of person who would pop right through a brief peace in Clear Sky's behavior to bring all of his worst traits right back to the surface.

But no they decided to play it unironically. She charms her way back into the group, truly doesn't care that these cats are responsible for the death of her father, and her primary purpose is to stan Clear Sky because the writers have decided he's a Good Guy Now and actually everyone's being mean and unreasonable to him, including his mother who comes down from the mountain to call him cringe and Star Flower says, "no no babe youre based theyre all just haters"

And then she gets kidnapped and pinned down while pregnant and licked on the face by Slash as he talks about how he wanted her as his mate, because every woman who exists near Clear Sky gets killed or violently assaulted for the sake of his arc

People like Star Flower for the idea of her being a femme fatale bad bitch type, but it is completely fandom invention. That's not what's on the page, WC fans just so starved for evil women characters they'll invent them

(I am not above this btw I am also so starved for evil women characters I will invent them. I'm doing it right now. Star Flower is a villain in my au)

Jagged Peak, Clear Sky, Gray Wing, and Thunder are all such good boys that wives appear to reward all of them with lots and lots of kittens. Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaankss.

I'm really sorry to barge into this whole Enid x Tara thing (love the baby btw). But I just want to propose a song for Wednesday from Enid pov, like, I think it works best for canon compliant. Dancing with the dead of Powerwolf. I don't know, you can put a fiery danse (maybe not a tango but you got me) on it, and like, it screams danger but the way you can't turn away from her. You know like, yeah if you're near her you have a higher chance to finish in a demon incantation but you cannot help being near. Also, kinda orchestral song fits Wednesday.

Oh man, hmm. Ima just list it out bc its easier for me to think about.

Scar: 9-6 and I'm working through 5 (I'm watching his series backwards)

Grian: 9, 7, 6 and I plan on watching s8 eventually, I've just seen it quite a few times from other povs so I need a break from it

Mumbo: 9 and 8

Impulse: 9 and 8

Etho: only s9, but I want to watch his other seasons

Zed: 9

And I started tango s8

There are a couple of hermits who im considering catching up on their s9 pov (pearl, tango, bdubs, etc) but im also watching some other non hc stuff (like empires and team canada) so I don't burnout on it

I have to be gone for a bit, some I’m just gonna dump a bunch of Double Life/Empires stuff here for ya’ll to do what you wish with.

-Empires AU where Shubble and Scott are siblings. Scott was born without magic, and ran away after they used some not so good magic to try and give him some. Neither of them recognize each other when they meet back in Empires.

-Puss In Boots AU where Mayor Lizzie teams up with sad lonely man Scott from Chromia and the Goblin King Fwhip to go on some great big adventure to save the other rulers after they mysteriously disappear or something. Or, local guy in kind of hard to find kingdom finds a goblin and a cat with a sword on his doorstep and now they’re all on a roadtrip together.

-I think it’d be funny if Scott’s kingdom was kind of super hard to find despite being in the open, based on how few visitors he got in his episodes. And if all anyone knew was the slogan. I want Chromia to accidentally come off as mildly threatening because nobody knows where it is and somebody heard ‘die’ instead of ‘dye’.

-Everyone’s interactions are just so genuinely funny, especially when you consider it in character. Joel is a god who probably is super great and powerful, but he tries to do one godly thing and the universe goes ‘good luck with that’. Local mortal sheriff and cat mayor are one hundred percent down to pick a fight with god, and honestly? They’d win. They could and would bully him.

-I haven’t watched his Last Life POV, but the fact that Scott really went in fixed Jimmy’s builds in both 3rd and Double Life is genuinely the funniest thing. Especially when the Ranchers were, i can only assume, trying to threaten him at the exact moment he was like ‘oh, i gave you guys windows btw’. Imagine being Tango later on, who’s just like ??? And Jimmy’s like ‘Yeah, Scott does that.’

-The fact that the red lives wanted to get Cleo in on the chaos while she was right there listening??? Superb.

-I high key want more fics focusing on the girls of the Divorce Quartet, because you really do have Pearl ‘evil in her heart, scares the reds’ and Cleo ‘the bloodthirsty reds want to invite her to kill people with them.’ It’s such a fun contrast to their partners, and I want to see the girls be menacing and feral in their defense. I just want them to be menacing in general, actually.

-Scott’s POV of Ren ad BigB coming to the Ranch really is just him being like ‘i was gonna make them worse but they did that themselves’, and Ren being like ‘Scott will be our couples therapy whether he likes it or not’.

-The yellow lives low key terrorizing Jimmy was the funniest thing, and Tango was just like ??? He really didn’t know what to do there, and that’s fair, honestly. Imagine being a Red Life, something everyone’s suppose to fear, and the last living Yellows, literal targets just...kidnap your partner, and put him in a box. What would you ev en do???

-There is literally so much potential for stories in them, and if I could find the time, i would write so many drabbles. Jimmy and Gem’s encounter with the Warden?? So cool. Joel is a wet cat of a god, but him being the god of Lore?? Of stories?? Literally so much potential to play with??? The fact that the last yellows are the divorce quartet?? How Pearl was protecting Scott while he was herding the goats in?? How the first ones that tore themselves apart were the ones that ended up together again because they’re all that remains??? It’s just so good.

Here is the thing: Bdubs got what was coming to him. He has betrayed Grian with a Boogie Kill. He has killed Tango in another Boogie Kill just a few moments after Tango gave him a Life and brought him back to Yellow. Fuck's sake, he killed Lizzie in front of her husband and it is not payback for anything they have done to him (because they have not done anything to him).

And why should the red lives let him come back to the survivors? They are outnumbered enough as it is. They had no reason to spare him and way too many reasons to do what they did.

And also (he has not released his POV yet so I do not know why but) it looked like Bdubs only got hit once. The remaining Red Lives did not seem to expect for him to die that quickly.

Here is the other thing: As much as Bdubs's death was earned, I would still like to see Etho confront Grian. I still want to see him projecting and blaming the Reds when, if he had not hesitated in the first place (and in the second place), Bdubs would still be alive. Still Red, yes, but Pearl has 4 lives and could easily replace Tango as a life dispenser, if for one-time use only.

okie here are my thoughts on your points (btw i am not trying to start anything or say your opinions aren't valid, i just wanna talk about this bc i enjoy analysing 3rd Life!):

1) Bdubs's boogey kill on Grian was not a betrayal. they were not allies and there was no understanding to not kill him. it was the first boogey kill of the series; people were still working things out. imo Bdubs's boogey kill on Grian was no more a betrayal than Ren's boogey kill on Skizz or Scott's boogey kill on Impulse.

2) i have no way to justify Bdubs killing Tango after Tango gave him a life. trust me, i've spent a long time trying to figure out why he did it. and my conclusion is i think he shouldn't have. but arguably he got his comeuppance when he died to the wither: he lost the life he got from Tango.

3) i personally don't think Bdubs choosing Lizzie as his victim has any specific meaning, aside from maybe he thought she would be one of the easiest targets. he was desperate to get back to Etho and he wanted to get the kill done as soon as possible. he could've just as easily gone for Joel.

4) i don't think they knew the reasoning behind Bdubs's decision to kill a red name. i guess maybe they suspected but i believe Grian in particular thought he had just turned on the reds. but even if they did, even if they didn't want him to abandon them for the non-reds, that doesn't mean they were justified in killing him. understandable, yeah. but not necessary.

5) "The remaining Red Lives did not seem to expect for him to die that quickly." i do agree with you there. Grian seemed really shocked that he had actually killed Bdubs. maybe if he had missed, Bdubs would've gotten away.

in conclusion, i personally disagree saying Bdubs "got what was coming to him". do i love the poetry of Grian taking Bdubs's last life after Bdubs took his first? yes. (am i a hardcore NHO Duo apologist? also yes)

but, and i'm pretty sure someone's already pointed this out, c!Bdubs was not a lawless villain who only ever looked out for himself. he was loyal to Etho, perhaps to a fault. what he's done is questionable and i can't justify it all but in the end, he lived for Etho and he died for Etho.

and that's what makes it so interesting. aren't all 3rd Life permadeaths deserved in some way, even marginally?

So heres the thing that i found really confusing is why the hell some people call Az bonus chapter “uncomfortable and “ toxic”. The first time i read it i mean..that Elriel scene was hot 🥵🥵but toxic?? Thats the last thing i’d think of because u know why?? It is a freaking NA book.

For me the chapter compare to any other NA books i’ve read ( lj shen, rina kent, pen. douglas) is sooo vanilla like only the cherry on top. The antis do know right that now acotar being market into NA instead of YA so darker content is expected and there will be A LOT OF SEX, THINKING ABT SEX AND AT ONE POINT WILL DO SEX!!!

We’ve seen Elriel soft moment in the four books ( truth teller, “do u want me to show u the garden”, “i’’m getting her back atc..) like their feelings towards each other does not come from nowhere. Everything Azriel’s said or think abt is the same as what Nessian did in acosf.

For me in a NA book if two characters feel lust towards each other then that is a good thing like that what makes the book NA in the first place. Sjm wants to write abt Azriel kinky fuck thats why the crumbs that he’s a freak and Elain is aroused/ not a virgin were mentioned like if they would bang right away then its not surprising for the readers *cough*offer and permission *cough*. So the argument abt Az is toxic and etc makes me assume 3 things

1. They still in the YA zone

2. Their fantasy abt Az is diff from whats written in his chapter

3. Because it is Elriel

I think I agree with all 3 points, but I also feel that the author herself has changed--she is older now, she is writing things that are different, and despite how people feel about ACOSF, she basically devoted an entire book to someone dealing with PTSD and self-hate. That's very different from TOG or even ACOTAR. Hence her writing would be different as well, and probably not as appropriate for the YA crowd. I don't like generalizing, but the majority of what *I* have seen out there, when it comes to Gwyn adoration, are younger women--teens, early 20s. Gwyn is a typical YA character--spunky, very young, determined and 'unburdened' by female characteristics, such as a family, children, running a household, cooking, taking care of life, taking care of others. What's the most common complaint about Feyre now? She is boring. All she does is stays home and is pregnant, and why did she have a baby at 21? and now she is a MILF. Perhaps, perhaps not, but she certainly isn't the spunky, adventurous 19 year old of ACOTAR. The YA crowd loves Gwyn, and it's understandable.

Elain is a more cerebral character. You already know that she is probably not going to swing a sword, which is great. Because there is a place for characters like that. But I think that's one of the reasons for the hate -- she is 'boring'. However, I think SJM wants to write characters like these now, because with them, she can explore a variety of different ideas, even what femininity is, how a non-fighting woman can make a difference--she already began that journey with Elain in previous books. Ultimately she writes books about her version of female-empowerment and the difference all women can make. She's written like 10 books with fighting females. Yet, some of her more interesting characters are people like Yarne and Elide and even like Amarantha and Maeve, because they don't rely on the swords, but mostly their knowledge, cunning, abilities.

I think sexually, SJM is also ready to explore other avenues. I don't see her writing the same as she did 7-10 years ago. I don't see her writing scenes like earthquakes and tumbling mountains and snapping palm trees when a male character orgasms. It's a little (a lot) ridiculous, but I feel like we'll see a lot more of Cassian-like sex, than Rhys.

I feel like what disturbed some readers, especially the younger ones in the POV, is the 'realness' of the thoughts. It wasn't 'prettified' with some fanciful language (btw, like the REST OF THE BOOK). Nothing at all different between Cassian and Azriel, both think of and ponder and want sex. But I feel like people, for some reason, aren't as emotionally invested in Cassian, or maybe he was always viewed as 'lusty'. Azriel is mysterious and less obvious, but suddenly reading purely sexual thoughts from him was a wakeup call. And thoughts about the 'boring' Elain and not the girl-boss Gwyn.

I think SJM wants to explore some more unconventional, 'weirder' sexual things with Az, and I simply don't think that he'll be doing that with a character like Gwyn. Not because of Gwyn, but of who identifies with her--teens, young adults.

Listen, for all I know, it might not even be Elriel--it might not be Elain and Az (though I highly doubt it), but it wont be Az and Gwyn either. Like, Az is NOT spanking or tying up Gwyn, and again, not because of Gwyn, but because of Az. Just yesterday I read some comment about someone arguing that maybe 'Gwyn is ready sexually' and all that. And I don't argue that, though I didn't see any indication of it in the books. But the question is, is Az ready? Because it takes two to tango. And it seems like everything revolves around Gwyn and her readiness in those canons. He is never mentioned--like he is just a stud put there to penetrate. But I don't see that interest or willingness in his character for her at all.

Let's remember that 'offer and permission' came from Elain. Elain willingly slept with Graysen before marriage. Elain has been putting gentle moves on Az. SHE is ready. He is ready.

I think it's definitely an amalgamation of things, but these will not be YA books going forward. And if the POV was so controversial, then yikes, I don't think that the actual book would be palatable for some readers.

Dramione Fic recommendations

I’ve been reading Dramione fics lately, and was unsuccessful in finding a recommendation list on Tumblr.

So. These are the fics that I have read at least twice because they are just that wonderful.

Oh and they are all completed, because as much as there are brilliant WIPs out there, it is pure agony to have to wait for an end.

Also most of them are mature content, be aware!

Humor

1. Tango by MrBenzedrine

A slow burn fic about Hermione Granger and Draco Malfoy taking dance lessons to learn the Tango. As the comedy builds, so does the tension -too bad Draco's set to marry Astoria.

Ups: Interesting premise, tons of fluff, likable Astoria, good humor

Downs: I think there was a point where the story was a bit dragging along, or maybe it’s just me, because I usually prefer shorter fics.

2. Divination for Skeptics by olivieblake

The latest in magical advancements is an enchantment that reveals romantic compatibility. Effectively eliminating uncertainty from dating, the charm's Hermione Granger-approved calculation of traits and preferences is a foolproof method of determining whether or not you've found The One. It's also, for Hermione, positively dreadful news. Dramione, post-war, soulmate AU.

Ups: Interesting premise, loved the author’s philosophy on relationships (it was very relatable), refreshing and funny

3. Anniversary Arrangements by scarlettcat

Draco and Hermione have a yearly arrangement. Ron finds out about it in a shocking way.

Okay so this is categorized as Romance/Angst but the interaction btw Hermione and Draco was funny. I think category-wise it could be in the middle of Humor and Angst.

Very Slytherin Draco (probably the most cunning, political Draco I’ve read), while Hermione stands the opposite. Not just their blood status but this story depicts their opposite personality beautifully.

Sort of non con at the beginning, but so well written.. Short but leaves a powerful lingering feeling (for me anyway)

I have been watching heeavens design team on crunchyroll after the yt algorithm recomended some clips and i iked them. and im 95% sure one of the charechters is trans fem, because this lovely lady:

Press Start 2018 Letter

Dear Press Starter, Thanks so much for checking out this letter! Video games have been my favorite hobby for as long as I can remember, and I’m super excited to participate in an exchange revolving around them.

General Information: DNW: Body waste kinks, futa, bestiality, character bashing, inflation kink, vore, unrequested pairings as the main focus. Likes: Any kind of AU, friendship, worldbuilding, smut, canon-appropriate pop culture references, humor (all kinds - characters poking fun at each other or snarking, running gags, memes, etc. Seriously, if you've ever wanted to experiment with bizarre crack, I'd be happy to be your guinea pig). I also *love* metafiction and nods to quirky game mechanics and canon in-jokes. Most of my favorite works tend to be character studies and fluffy romance, but I definitely enjoy darker stuff as well. If you have an idea that doesn't exactly match with my likes/prompts, please feel free to go with that! Art likes: High contrast, portrait-style, characters posing in different outfits or showing off abilities, couples being cute together Video likes: Shipping montage, parody/humor - fake trailer, meme vid etc. (I would prefer it if you used in-game footage only). Defense of the Ancients (DOTA) - Any Character You can probably guess from my username who my favorite hero is! That said, you definitely don't have to force yourself to make something about Earthshaker or any character in particular (I like everybody in the tagset). I would definitely appreciate worldbuilding for this request, especially if it references abilities, item builds, or strategies. I'm more familiar with the Allstars version of the game, but I do play DotA 2 as well, so if you're more familiar with that, feel free to go by the new lore. Some of the changes did weird me out a little, like how Rylai and Lina became sisters and Mirana went from "priestess" to "princess." Other than that, I don't really mind. Prompts: -Shipfic for any of the following: Crystal Maiden/Invoker, Crystal Maiden/Drow, or Drow/Mirana. For the first two pairs, I imagine there could be some sort of common ground given their shared proficiency in ice magic, and for Drow/Mirana I like the idea of a contentious rivalry between two skilled archers. -Something meta-ish about the teams squabbling over how to spend resources at the beginning of the match. (Of course Crytal Maiden still gets stuck with buying the courier). -Anything referencing some of the weird mechanics of the items in this game. Ex: How the heck do Tangoes work? What does a tree even taste like? -Anyone remember the song "DOTA" by Basshunter? Anything referencing that song or the music video would be hilarious. Dungeon Fighter Online - Any Character

I originally started playing this game as a part of my ~research~ for a King's Avatar fanfic, and now I'm seriously hooked. Playing it really makes me feel like a kid again and makes me so nostalgic for old school 2D dungeon runners like Diablo 2 and Ragnarok Online, and I absolutely love the dozens of subclasses and their flashy skills. (I am a big fan of ridiculous rainbow-colored animations that take up your entire screen).

Prompts: -I love the idea of a female slayer interacting with a female priest. They both have a history of abuse at the hand of authority figures (the slayer by the De Los Empire and the priest by the False Prophet) and have some parallels in the theming of their subclasses. It would be really cool to compare and contrast the Slayer as a Dark Templar or Demon Slayer with the Priest as an Inquisitor or Mistress.

-Any kind of worldbuilding about Arad and Empyrean would be cool as well as any exploration of the backstories of the main player characters/NPCs. What does the daily life of a dungeon fighter look like? Are they actually having fun running into Hell all the time or is it just a terrible grind? (Yeah, I love meta stuff).

I generally like player characters to be referred to by their class only (as in being called just "the slayer" or "the priestess") but if there are specific names you prefer, feel free to use them. Master X Master - Any Character RIP dead game. This was basically NCSoft’s version of Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm, and boy was I sad when the servers closed down in January. Flashback to last summer: The English version of MXM debuted with mild hype, and everyone's guild was named after one of the teams from The King's Avatar. This was a really fun MOBA with some very cool characters concepts and mechanics. So much lost potential :(

Prompts: -Anything Lua x Sizuka! These two were everyone's starter Masters, and it really amused me how they played off of one another in story mode with Sizuka's seriousness contrasting with Lua's overeager attitude.

-I loved Lorraine and her flashbang camera! Something about her combat paparazzi Master abilities would be awesome.

-For Vita, I would be amused by anything referencing "Upside Down" (aka MXM's meme song that people played on the lobby jukebox nonstop)

Liar! Uncover the Truth - Any Character

I'm a huge fan of this mystery/romance app with its feisty heroine and the quirky Liars she has to unmask before finding her Mr. Right. If you're interested, I maintain a sideblog dedicated to it over @whoistheliar (Warning for spoilers at the link). Kazumi and Haruichi are my favorite love interests, but I would definitely be happy to receive something revolving around other characters. I love how MC isn’t a blank slate and is very much her own character. She can be quite a mess at home and has a lot of insecurity about her humble background, seeing as she’s originally from a small country town (IIRC one of Joe’s side stories mentions that she’s from Akita prefecture).

Prompts (just suggestions - please feel free to go with your own ideas!):

-Scenes from the Ayumi/MC route that Voltage is never going to give us.

-Out of all of the Liars, I felt that #8 was the most outright malicious. I wasn't convinced by the ending of his Lover's Route, and I would be curious to see something showing his mindset and feelings towards MC at the end of the game.

-It seems that people are really divided when it comes to the guy who ends up being "Mr. Right." Some see him as the most precious cinnamon roll, but I've also had people tell me that he comes off as a creepy stalker. I'm pretty sympathetic towards him myself, but I'd love to see your own take on him, whether romantic and sentimental or super dark.

-I really feel like the 9th Liar got the short end of the stick in the main story. His interactions with MC kept getting interrupted by unnecessary drama, and it felt like they never got the chance to really get to know each other. Fix-it fic with them ending up together would be great. BTW, I would love it if Rumi showed up - she was truly the savior of his route, imo.

I generally prefer for MC to be left nameless, but I do feel kind of bad for being so demanding about it in the past, so if there's a name you prefer, please feel free to use it.

Liar! Office Deception - Any Character

I love the Liar! sequel every bit as much as the original game. Workaholic MC is amazing, and you can bet that I'm super thrilled that Voltage is going to be releasing Office Deception Lover's Routes in the future.

-Post-game or redemption story revolving around any of the Liars, with the exception of the 2nd, 3rd and 5th. Ideally, this would end on a positive note with them being able to have a reciprocal friendship/romance with MC.

-Office Battle! I was so amused by the Star Wars parody that kept popping up throughout the story and how everyone seemed to be totally into it except for MC, who's just completely out of the loop. Maybe one of the Office Liars tries to teach her about the series or something like an Office Battle AU that's basically Office Deception in space?

-Narration of some part of the game from James' POV. I love MC's cat and found it hilarious how she kept spoiling him at home while being so disciplined at the office.

-The 9th Liar did some horrible things to get what they wanted, even putting the 8th Liar in the hospital. I’d like to see something that shows some of their inner conflict once they realize they're hurting someone that has actually become a friend to them.
