Talk Garden Vol. 5!〜Part 1〜
"Wakana's Talk Garden Vol.5" has been uploaded! This time, I intended to talk about both the messages I received on the talk theme and the comments on my latest blog post...but I just didn't have enough time😂💦 Just talking about the comments from my blog post ended up taking 45 minutes...😅 I didn't even mention the messages for the regular talk theme...😅 It's all because I don't prepare in advance with some sort of script or rough schedule🫠🫠I'm so sorry! ! 😂💦
Due to the length, I made a “Vol#5 Part①” in which I only talk about the blog comments🤣 “Vol#5 Part②” will be uploaded at a later date, on that podcast I will be focusing on reading the messages for the original talk theme 🧚✨
The comment section was full of everyone's thoughts and feelings, I had a really hard time reading through all of them, I actually cried so many times that I had a stuffy nose. Despite that, I am happy that you shared your thoughts with me, I felt like I could relate to everyone in my own way. Thank you so much.
When I read that many of you are seeking music as a source of comfort in times like this, I wanted nothing more than to sing for you right away. Which is why I was more than happy to be able to announce an online broadcast for February 6th. I would like to have a fun time with everyone at my first live show of this year, February 6th marks the 5th anniversary of my solo debut. I'm really looking forward to it! ! (((o(*゚▽゚*)o)))
Oh, by the way. I forgot to announce the next talk theme during the new episode, the talk theme for "Talk Garden Vol.6" scheduled to air on February 10th will be: "Memories of Valentine's Day"! I can't wait to read all your sweet and funny stories, of course you can also send me all of your sad stories ! \\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////
Well, please enjoy the episode even though it's long♪
Until next time~☆( *'▽’*)/

ok yeah re: your tags this is what i figured and i wonder if people keep phrasing it like that On Purpose to pretend midnights isn't a flop or just cause swifties think very strictly in terms of Album Eras (ha). but at the same time i kind of wasn't sure cause i still can't seem to grasp exactly How hard tickets were to get and How expensive they are cause like my brain kind of finds it hard to believe that THAT many people payed THAT much when they weren't fans ? but a good concert is a good concert haha i guess i just don't have the Concert Goer mindset
lmaoooooo i can't imagine midnights has that many diehard fans that they would bother with that kind of retconning. i'd venture to say that that person just didn't really understand how we got here. i just made a little sub-post with this article that details a lot of it really well if you want to be certain that i'm not just talking out my ass lol.
i know it sounds crazy when you look at before and afters like that, but I think you're forgetting that in the lead up to the tour, she had been feeding the content beast for YEARS while subsequently withholding a tour. for good reasons i mean we had a pandemic, but she kept the content faucet going. not just any old content though, content that did several crucial things.
1. folklore/evermore DRASTICALLY broadened her fanbase. everyone on here i'm sure can tell you how they had friends or family who had never cared much for taylor before, but folklore/evermore was a HUGE success, ESPECIALLY among the 30+ crowd at the time. it was incredibly mature, both in it's subject matter but also in it's soundscape and genre, and so she collected that new group of new fans whom she had never been able to reach before. (there are also many twitter threads of these new fans exploring her back catalog for the first time and so i mean there's a spike right there to her old work)
2. the re-releases of both fearless and red reignited the fervor for those albums in fans that might not have been into her more recent stuff. maybe they aged out or they just didn't care for the newer pop-oriented fare, who knows. either way, it turned her into something extremely powerful which is a NOSTALGIA artist, at least in the eyes of these fans turned casual listeners. nostalgia is a powerful drug, so she collected these reanimated fans as well, and then created an ENTIRE tour around that nostalgia.
3. in general, i'm sure you've seen articles and news stories about how concerts are difficult to get tickets to in general post-pandemic, which is not exclusive to her. she has several outside factors but that general fact is true across all the tours we've seen post 2021. people were cooped up in their houses, separated from all the communal aspects of life, even if they didn't like those aspects. going to big public events have become commodities in and of themselves because of the hunger we had for it that we had to bottle for so long, fizzing and building until finally it pops when we enter a stadium again. it's seeing your favorite artist in person, sure, that's part of it, but what's become MORE important post-pandemic is the pilgrimage aspect of assembling with your fellow acolytes and experiencing the euphoria of that communal release. you can take the friendship bracelet phenomenon which is a complete fan invention, born out of this hunger for human connection and interaction among like minded people in a shared space. swifties couldn't WAIT to see other swifties and feel that human community in person for the first time in years. so we can add this factor as well, how by penning us all until we grew ravenous with hunger for human interaction, the pandemic made concert going one of the most gourmet michelin star meals currently available to the human population.
Add this all together, and throw in a new album yes which is in comparison to the other factors a mere bundle of twigs on the now soaring flame. but it counts! it all counts. it's this collective intersection of priming an audience both unintentionally/unwillingly and also verrrry intentionally that caused her ticket demands to be as gargantuan as they were, and still are. it was a genius marketing move, making this tour appealing to every single person who ever liked taylor ever, in combination with her on the upswing in public favor (which we know will have a down swing but we're on the up right now). and it's also subsequently CRAZY to point to midnights as the all encompassing reason for this ladkjakldfjlksdfj. i know the mold is usually to chapterize her life in albums, that's true, but this breaks the mould. even calling this the midnights era is ludicrous. It's the Eras Tour Era if anything, and we will be in it for another YEAR at least. insane to think about.
and as far as having a concert goers mindset, i don't know if i have that either, it takes a lot for me to go to a concert. but on top of ALL of this lead up, she delivers one hell of a show. worth going again if you can, imo.

Can you explain what you mean about Louis team not trying anymore? Do you mean in terms of promo of him/his tour?
Louis is on a break at the moment so not sure what we’re expecting his team to be doing? I’ve got to say I’m not that keen on them either. I mean I like his band members but the management crew do seem lazy and disinterested. Not sure if it bothers L or not. He’s so laid back it’s hard to tell!
Heya anon! Thanks for the inbox, and welcome to the show.
Look… yes, he’s on a break. That’s fine, and while Harry and zayn are currently getting press, there could be concern for over-saturation in the market due to the overlap of fans, and therefore could even be Agreements between H/L/Z’s managers to space out the promo a bit so fans can absorb one thing at a time. Niall’s on tour with consistent promo social media posts (not too many headlines though), so he’s not to worry, and Liam isn’t getting really any press, even though he is being more active with fans. However…
Just because Louis is on break, that doesn’t mean his team needs to be. They should be gearing up with promo for the LATAM tour that starts in 2 weeks. They’ve always been lazy with trying to reach GP and having substantial press/working with interviewers or industry professionals that will connect him to a larger demographic, and have relied on a very dedicated fanbase as their main source of income/Louis’ success. The problem with that, is by forming such a special connection between Louis and the fans, he (his team) need to be creating content and delivering to the fans so it doesn’t feel so one sided. It frustrates me to no end because even though they are doing well with the relationship between louis and fans, sometimes they don’t even know that demographic as well as they think they do.
Louis 100% deserves a break. I don’t expect him to be posting every day or doing livestreams or twitter chats, but his team need to at least be posting on Insta/twitter once or twice a week for him. Theyve been really MIA a little too long in my opinion, and the whole point of this promo is to sell tickets to the upcoming LATAM tour. It is crucial promo time, ya know?
So anyway, again this is just in my opinion and experience and analysing the marketing strategies/timelines of Louis’ past tours/album drops etc., they just aren’t delivering that promo, and haven’t actively tried to reach a larger demographic with the GP like… ever. Could he have done a couple of pre recorded interviews while he wasn’t MIA to drop over this time? He should have. Maybe a few pre written press articles about his tour ready to drop on a specific date? Hopefully. There should be content available to post whenever necessary. And hell, I’m sure there will be some level of promo before the tour, but leaving it til last minute doesn’t really do him any favours.
His team come off as lazy and often rely on us to do the work for him, which like… fine, fans literally keep an artist’s career alive so there is obviously a level of fans promoting said artist, but it feels like it’s a lot of us giving and hanging around and a lot of them taking and too much reliance on just his already established fans selling out shows, not new fans who could grow his numbers substantially.
Again, I’m 100% not advocating for him to not have a break, I’m saying his team are barely doing the bare minimum at the moment, and it’s not doing him and his tour any favours. I’m not saying Louis is lazy, and I’m not saying that he doesn’t care, this is strictly to do with his team and their strategies.
And yes, he does come across as very laid back and yes, he loves what he does and works hard. But I feel there may be a level of complacency with his team right now. Like “oh well, you’re not ever gonna be as big as Harry, so we won’t even bother with this strategy even if it worked for him” kinda thing. But, for the hell of it, let’s say that Louis doesn’t really wanna do more promo. He’s happy at the level he’s at, doing just enough of what his team wants him to do, and he doesn’t want to strive to be any more successful. He knows he’s at a good place, so why bother? But… Matt Vines needs to make money. He’d be on a commission rate of an industry standard around 20%, but might be more depending on their Agreement. It wouldn’t be any less. So… if Louis isn’t making more money, Matt isn’t making more money (he would be making a certain amount with the other artists he manages, but overall Louis would be making the most out of that roster, his commission on smaller bands may lead closer to 15% standard). Obviously money is still coming in to them, but you get me. So, even if Louis is chilling and happy, it’s weird to see such a little amount of promo leading up to a very exciting and hopefully successful tour in LATAM.
You can read in this interview from 2022 with Matt, about his ideas on management. Notably, the below about previous data from 1d and their activations and campaigns and I haven’t really seen too many elements of that in his current promo (obv gonna be at a different scale because 1d was one of the biggest bands in the world for a hot minute there, but there’s been little to no elements of these strategies in his current promo season):
Tumblr media
So i truly haven’t seen much of those marketing techniques employed within his promo these days. And here, he talks about the relationship he has with his artists and why his company stands out from others:
Tumblr media
Which, yes, I agree that a manager-artist relationship should be different from what it’s traditionally known. And I can see that they do have a different relationship, with the lack of stunting and louis taking the reins a lot more. We see more authenticity, and less show, which is great. Louis is serious and has actively worked to understand the business and how different streams and parts of the industry work.
But his team aren’t working to grow the fanbase. Matt Vines has been in this industry long enough to understand marketing and promo and demographics more so than Louis, but it feels like he’s not even helping him grow bigger. Idk, it feels disappointing that for a hot minute he was on a roll and gaining a lot of traction and it seems to have stagnated a little bit and his reach has only gone so far, where it should be further out to the GP too.
Anyway, look, again this is just my opinion. I’m incredibly proud of him and his team have done a lot for him, but they can always do more. And yet, they haven’t. I don’t want to see Louis exhausted and a wreck from touring like the 1d days, but promo comes in so many different forms and it’s not just about stunting and clothing lines and social media. There’s more his team could do for him, without him working 100% of the time.

🎤 allkpop: [INTERVIEW] Bang Yong Guk teases new album, opens up about self-discovery and touring: 'I think I know myself better than anyone else'
EXCLUSIVE [INTERVIEW] Bang Yong Guk teases new album, opens up about self-discovery and touring: 'I think I know myself better than anyone else'
Tumblr media
Nearly 11 months after the release of his second mini-album, ‘THE COLORS OF LOVE,’ singer-songwriter Bang Yong Guk ignites anticipation of his upcoming record, ‘3.’ “I would say that this album is filled with music that you can listen to all day long and not get tired of it,” said the artist revealing that the album is going to be a lot different from his previous ones.
Bang Yong Guk is heading to Melbourne and Sydney on March 15 and 17, respectively. Tickets to his shows in Australia are still available on BoxLiveAu’s website. In April, the artist will embark on a US tour spanning 11 cities, including Chicago, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and more.
Having fulfilled his dream of performing on stages around the globe with the music he has created, Bang Yong Guk now seeks to empower others chasing similar goals. “I want to help make the dreams of others come true,” he shared.
Ahead of his new album release and Australian tour, Bang Yong Guk caught up with allkpop to talk about his musical journey, love for music, strong sense of self, and more. Keep reading to learn more about the all-rounder artist!
Check out our exclusive interview with Bang Yong Guk last year in this link!
allkpop: In an interview last year, you said you’re still the same person with the same values. But if we would compare you, yourself right now to yourself 5 years ago, what do you believe is the biggest difference? If you look back on the past, do you think you’re absolutely better and more confident now?
Bang Yong Guk: I’m aging like everyone else. (laughs) My values and morals have not changed. I don't think the other things that I think make life worth living haven't changed. They remain the same. I’m still just a normal person who’s doing music. I’ve been having a lot of quiet days. I’m currently enjoying my life breathing on this Earth like everyone else.
allkpop: I asked you that question because, in another interview in the past, you said Yong Guk is someone who never changes. People say it’s not good if you’re not changing as a person. So I was wondering how you approach that mindset of yours and what “Yong Guk is someone who never changes” means to you. Can you elaborate more on that?
Bang Yong Guk: I think some people might believe that I’m a good person, but to some people, I could also be a bad person. However, rather than care about or pay a lot of attention to what other people say about me, I’m just the type of person who tries to focus more on myself and my values, at least for now. Of course, I'm always trying to be a better person as I get older. And I think the fact that I don't change is just because I have a certain stubbornness or something when it comes to my music or career. But I’m always trying to show you a better version of myself.
allkpop: You’re going to release an album soon! Tell us how you prepared for it, and how would you describe your participation or involvement in the album in terms of the creative side? What can we expect from this new album of yours?
Bang Yong Guk: For my upcoming album, it’s going to be different. I changed the genre and style of the music I used to do. I think that the usual music genre I was doing tended to be difficult for my fans to listen to for a long time in their daily lives. So, I would say that this album is filled with music that you can listen to all day long and not get tired of it.
allkpop: Since you’ve been participating in the creative process of your songs. Could you give us an instance where you didn’t like your work and you weren’t satisfied enough with it? How did you overcome that?
Bang Yong Guk: Personally, I think that I was a little bit disappointed with my last album. I wasn’t really totally satisfied with it. So, I tried to improve that as much as possible on my new album. I feel like I can release this album with a little bit of confidence, and I'm looking forward to it because it's so fresh for me. Usually, if I don't like something, I just work on it a lot on my own. I solve it by fixing the things I don't like.
allkpop: You said that when you’re working on new music in your studio, you imagine yourself performing those songs on stage. And that’s when you realize why you’re doing music. Could you describe your relationship with music now? Has your goal been the same since the beginning? And what exact goal is it?
Bang Yong Guk: First of all, I think that I've been making music since I was very young, and I still love music so much that even now, at my age, I still feel the same way that I did when I first started. My love for music hasn't changed. I still love creating music and being on stage with the music I’ve created. I actually had a big goal in my life when I was younger, doing music. That is to be able to travel around the world with the music that I made and have it heard by a lot of people and be able to sing it myself on stage. I'm so fortunate to be living that goal right now. I'm already in a happy situation. I don't know when this will happen, but I think one of my goals in the future is to be able to be the person who can be of help to others who have a similar goal as me. I want to help make the dreams of others, who have dreams like I did when I was younger, come true.
allkpop: You said in an interview that when you work with other artists, you try to understand their identity. How about for yourself? Do you think you have a better understanding of yourself and what you want? Do you think you already know yourself on a personal and deeper level?
Bang Yong Guk: I think my flaw is that I'm too objective about myself rather than being subjective about myself, so I think that's why I'm so harsh on myself too. I’m not really a person who has a lot of interests, so I think I just go through life giving myself the most attention. So to answer that question, yes. I think I know myself better than anyone else. That's kind of hard sometimes, and that's my flaw. But I think I've got that under control and I think I'll continue to do that until I die.
allkpop: You’ve held successful solo tours. What makes this year’s tour different from your previous ones? What kind of development in terms of your stage presence or ability to sing and dance simultaneously live do you feel the most?
Bang Yong Guk: When I was younger, I used to be on bigger stages and I couldn't really feel the energy of being up close and personal with the audience. From my solo tours, one of the differences is that I now can feel the energy and love of my fans very well. I love sharing the moment where my presence and my fans’ presence are there at the same time and place. That’s what I love about my solo tour. This Australian tour is just kind of an extension of the last world tour that I did, and it just happens to coincide with the season where my new album is coming out. So, I promise you that if you come and see me, you're going to have a great experience!
allkpop: I was wondering if artists like you who have gone through numerous shows ever get fed up performing the same songs over and over again? I’m curious how you approach this.
Bang Yong Guk: First of all, I only tour once a year at most, so I don't think I can compare myself to such big artists. But what I would potentially do is focus on the setlist of the concert, and sometimes, I alter the songs slightly. However, I know that there are songs that my fans love and that are popular with them, so I try to sing as many of those songs as possible while keeping the feel of the original songs.
allkpop: Lastly, please leave a message to our readers and invite everyone to attend your shows in March!
Bang Yong Guk: First of all, I would like to thank allkpop readers for still loving and liking K-Pop! And now that my Australian tour is coming up soon, so I hope you will come and see me! I would like to ask for a lot of interest and love for my new album as well. Thank you!

KOKIA updates: February 2024
Below, I have summarized KOKIA’s recent announcements and messages. As explained here, this will remain the style of updates for now. I cannot make any promises about a quicker schedule for now. Unfortunately, that means a lot of this information is quite late. My sincere apologies and thank you for your continued patience.
Tumblr media
Once-in-a-lifetime meetings tour
Tumblr media
KOKIA had her first performance in her Once-in-a-lifetime meetings in Yokohama on February 4. In her blog entry of February 12, she looks back on it fondly, mentioning it lets her give back to her fans after 25 years of support. The red brick warehouse is also a place she'd hit her limit in a performance over a decade ago, when she wasn't feeling well. The memories are bittersweet, as the audience spontaneously started singing for her at the time. Thankfully, she felt much better this time, although she is a bit nervous for her upcoming performances, as there are so many still to come. She's determined to see them through and make them the once-in-a-lifetime meetings to fit the title of her tour.
Tumblr media
In a quick news entry of February 2, KOKIA mentions how the members page has updated for fan club members only pre-sale tickets for the Sapporo and Nagoya performances.
General ticket sales for the special Tokyo performance started on February 10, as noted in the news entry for February 9. The performance is scheduled for May 25, opening at 15:15 and starting at 16:00, at the Nihonbashi Mitsui Hall.
The news entry for February 16 announces a pre-sale of tickets for the Nagoya performance on September 7 for Sunday Folk members. The pre-sale ran online from February 23 to the 26th, and through the newsletter from March 1 to 4. General ticket sales start via other ticket agencies on March 8. The links are in the entry above.
The second entry for February 16 is dedicated to the Sapporo performance on July 6, which will be held at the Sapporo City Clock Tower Hall. Tickets went on pre-sale on February 20/21, and general ticket sales start around march 4 (depending on the agency). All links are in the entry above.
Tumblr media
Other performances
On February 7, KOKIA had a radio appearance at 15:00 (she announced it on the day itself in her news entry), at FM Setagaya's 'Afternoon Paradise'. She also quickly promotes this on her Instagram and shares behind the scenes photos later.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
In her blog entry of February 22, KOKIA talks about her Harmony for Ukraine charity concert performance. The entry was written beforehand (with the actual performance on the 25th), with KOKIA writing about rehearsals a little. She posts several photos on Instagram later, thanking everyone for their support and hanging out backstage with artist Nataliya Gudziy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
On February 26, in both her news and her blog sections, KOKIA talks about an upcoming performance at her private studio 01073 house on June 22/30 (four performances total). It's another performance in an already busy year, but she wanted to do a different concept for this. She won't announce this concept, but she does tease she's currently working on a new album... Tickets are available February 29 onward, using the service TicketPay. The atmosphere will be homely, as she's performing in a small place.
Tumblr media
Finally, in her news entry for February 26, KOKIA announces that a live registration of Yuki Kajiura's Kaji Fes 2023 will get a Blu-ray release, available on May 29. There will be multiple releases: one is a limited made-to-order box version, including the recordings for both days and exclusive merchandise. The other two releases are separate Blu-rays for each day. KOKIA performed on day 2.

PARTIES: @notpigmeat @muertarte
SUMMARY: Jazz is looking for a new date spot, and Metzli ends up being the only tour guide available. Jazz immediately tries to flirt. Will it work?
TIMING: Current
WARNINGS: None!
Jazz was in desperate need for a new place to take his dates. The ice cream shop he frequented started questioning why he brought so many women there. One could imagine the woman he had brought that last time didn't find it amusing.
Jazz wandered the streets of Wicked's Rest. Coffee shops and bars littered the map. "These ain't it." He said as he passed yet another pub. He needed something unique. Something that would make his dates swoon.
A place like…MuertArte?
The red door and black exterior stood out next to the monotony of beige, all but beckoning any soul curious enough to enter. So, he did.
It was early afternoon when the speaker chimed, announcing another patron. Metzli peered around the corner, seeing a man on the search for something. “Hm…” They hummed to themself, placing the clipboard on the counter to scribble a few notes for the latest piece they were archiving for next month’s rotation. The artist wouldn’t be too happy that their piece wasn’t sold, but it would have another chance. Metzli was more than good at their job. They’d see to it.
With a final flick of their pen, the vampire’s deadpan stare met with the stranger’s visage. He was still searching—or was it canvassing? In all their years in the clan, Metzli observed many mannerisms, memorizing what each one meant. There was purpose to every slide of his eyes, but what was it? As much as they hated talking, Metzli knew their paranoia would not be sated until they got to the bottom of whatever he was doing.
Sighing, they adjusted their suit jacket, rolling their shoulders as they approached, movement rigid and cold. “Can I help you?” Metzli looked up to the ceiling, focusing on a single point, “You are looking for something.”
Jazz didn't immediately respond. He took a step back and observed this tall, lanky person that walked up to him.
"What's good, baby? I'm just taking in the sights." He said slickly. He licked his lips and bit the bottom one. Jazz liked tall and lanky. He wasn't getting flirty vibes but he's been able to change that before.
"This chick must have some serious paper." He thought to himself. All types of paintings lined the wall; each one looking more expensive than the last.
There was no baby in sight. What the hell was that man talking about? Metzli looked around, trying to find this misplaced child, but they found none. “There is no baby. Have you bought ticket? If not, there will be no sights.” Logging into the front desk computer, Metzli saw that the last patron was thirty minutes ago. The man in front of them had definitely only been there a few minutes. So, no, he hadn’t bought a ticket.
Metzli rounded the desk and tilted their head, almost ominously, as they watched the man look at the paintings. When it looked like he was turning back to them, they finally spoke up. “You have not bought ticket. Are you going to?” They shifted their weight from front to back repeatedly, wishing they were back in the curation room. Paintings were so much easier to be around.
"There is no baby."
"What the hell is she talking about." Jazz thought. He figured this cutie was playing hard to get. He let out a chuckle expecting one back. "Alright I'll buy a ticket. Unless there's a discount for sexy people?" He ran his fingers through his hair. No one has ever resisted his fingers running through his hair.
To be perfectly honest the paintings did appear interesting. He figured he could actually take in the actual sights of the art.. after getting a phone number of course, he thought.
Their brrows knitted together with confusion, unable to decipher what the hell this man was trying to say. Why would there be a discount for sexy people? Even if there was, Metzli took one good look at the man as he ran his hand through his hair, and shook their head internally. Definitely not their type. Not sexy. At least, not to them. “No such thing as sexy discount.” They stated blandly, face stoic.
“There is child discount, elderly discount, and student discount. That is it. It is fifteen dollars for entry.” Metzli paused, tapping their foot as anxiety rose. As much as they didn’t want to, they knew they’d have to personally give the man a tour with Rachel and Gavin busy. “If you buy ticket, you can have self-guide or have guide like…” Metzli swallowed, “Like me to tell you about works. Your choice.” They clenched their jaw and balled their hand into a fist, somehow still maintaining a face devoid of emotion.
Jazz had flirted with countless women in his days as a boxer. Clenched teeth and a balled fist was never a good sign.
"You're a tough cookie, baby. Here. I'll take the tour." He said with a wink as he slid a $20 bill across the counter. He didn't show it but he was pondering if he came on too strong.
He looked down and saw the tapping foot of an incredibly impatient person. "My bad, honey. You must be taken."
Metzli wanted to bite. Frustrations were reaching an all time high and the peak had nowhere to descend to. They supposed they could take a breath and hold it there. Release the tension with a hunt after the tour.
“Not a cookie. A person.” They took a breath, and took the money, handing over a ticket and change before circling around the front desk. “One moment.” Metzli disappeared into their office and took the moment of reprieve to stretch and remove their suit jacket. Having a little extra room to move always helped.
Returning to the front, Metzli kept their eye trained on the path ahead, nodding to the statement. They’d heard the colloquialism before in reference to Leila. The thought of her alone was enough to settle their nerves. “Yes. Taken. Have girlfriend.” They paused, rolling their shoulders and proceeding down the hallway to begin the tour. “Now follow. We will begin with new exhibit from local artist Natalia Anderson. She uses two mediums. Marble and oil.” Stopping in front of the first painting, Metzli waited for any possible questions their guest may have.
Jazz's toothy grin faded away. He'd never given up on getting the number of someone he was flirting with. "Just need some time to break the ice." He thought. This ice was thick as an iceberg. He followed quickly as this beauty had quite a long stride.
They stopped in front of a painting. He admittedly wasn't listening to the name of the artist but he thought that the painting was really nice.
He rubbed his chin, "Wow. It's so… metaphorical." He said trying to sound artsy. He at least hoped he didn't sound stupid.
There was a pause. Maybe he should ask a question but he didn't have any. He was out of his element. If only there was a painting of an athlete or a pretty girl he'd have plenty to say.
They made eye contact with each other for what seemed like a little bit too long.
It’s so…metaphorical.
Metzli blinked slowly, just once, obviously annoyed by the poor attempt to critique the art. Now that was why they did their best to avoid giving tours. Dios, they needed to hire more guides. Having only Rachel and Gavin was not cutting it anymore.
“You sound like idiot.” Metzli broke the eye contact, rubbing their eyes to try and refocus. At that point, they just wanted to give the guy a refund. Or better yet, maybe a snack was in order.
No. No. They couldn’t do that. MuertArte had to be protected. The lack of planning alone would prove to be to the gallery’s detriment. For now, Metzli would keep their gallery meals to only forgers. It was safer that way.
“Do you even like art? Why are you even here?”
"Geez, what's with the insults?" Jazz snapped. Why are the cute ones always so rude? He gave up on getting the number out of pure frustration.
He looked at the art piece again. He thought hard about something to say but he just couldn't think of anything. It was paint on a canvas! Big freakin' deal!
"Sorry I'm not some artsy prick! I'm here because I'm looking for cool date spots but it seems like y'all don't like the uninitiated. Whatever, bite me." Jazz said as he raised a middle finger. He wasn't usually this mean but hell what was he supposed to do?
He wanted to leave but he wouldn't give this chick the satisfaction. After all, he's a paying customer.
"What would one actually say about this painting?" He asked with a vindictive grin. If he was going to stay he was going to get his money's worth out of this tour guide.
Anger burst into Metzli’s chest. Like a levee bursting on the hottest day of summer. The lights, warm as they may be, became too bright. A ringing filled their ears, and they hardly heard what was being said until bite me echoed in their mind. Now that was something Metzli could do. They’d already had it as an idea before, but now they were being told to do it. How could it be bad if it had been a demand?
Metzli licked their lips, fangs beginning to extend. Just one bite and this idiot would finally shut his—wait. The vampire blinked, straightening their posture as a new question presented itself. Taking a grounding breath, Metzli looked at the painting, brows furrowing together with thought.
The piece was haunting. The moment the curator laid eyes on it, they knew they had to have it. Anderson depicted a screaming figure, using masterful skill with her brush to create something moving. Metzli had many things to say about it. That’s what made it easy to speak, words tumbling off their tongue quickly and breathlessly. “The piece captivates viewer with sense of dread. It easily gives energy of humanity locked deep inside the woes of the figure’s screams.” Metzli stepped closer, their passion shining through as they gestured to the painting. "The dark color palette and the intense, wide void creates a sense of foreboding. It gives sense of falling in. Like you are being consumed by the scream just as they are.”
"......ok then." Jazz said quietly. Where in the hell did she get all of that from? It sounded real artsy farty. A bit much though.
"Easy, lady. It's a nice piece I guess." Jazz thought the intensity was weird but he hung on every word as the curator spoke. He could definitely use these words on his next date. But the way these words were said…. If they weren't so mean Jazz may have considered leaving his number behind.
The passion for art that was just displayed was something that Jazz respected. His tour guide’s eyes lit up the same way his did when he heard the bell ring at the start of a boxing match. "At least you're nice to the art." He chuckled.
Metzli snapped from their reverie, anger pluming in their chest just as it had before. “I am not lady.” They gestured to themself, to the pin just above their pocket square. “Read my pronouns.” Metzli demanded, shoulders inching toward their ears with tension squeezing them. If they weren’t so flustered, they probably would’ve given their guest a little more grace. He wasn’t being malicious by calling them a lady. It just seemed to be a part of his typical vernacular.
Regardless, Metzli took a deep breath and rubbed their face tiredly. At least he noticed how much they revered the art they curated. “Art speaks many languages.” They spoke calmly that time, shoulders relaxed and downcast. “Keeps things quiet while it say many things. Say things artist cannot.” Metzli looked back to Jazz, wishing the tour to be over. They weren’t sure how much longer that could take the social interaction.
“I will give you refund. I cannot do this tour.” Metzli turned on their heel and stopped short of exiting into the lobby. “I give apology. Too much happening. No more…what do they call it?” Metzli had heard the term both in person and in a book. They perked up when their mind filled in the gap. “No more social battery. Have very small one.”
Jazz couldn't help but feel embarrassed. How had he not noticed the pronouns pin on their shirt? He was the one being a jerk the entire time. He sighed.
Jazz briefly remembered when he had first learned of Muhammad Ali. A cocky boxer that was born under a different name. When he decided to change it to Muhammad Ali it's like the entire world pushed back. Ali had beaten many an opponent senseless for calling him his dead name. Jazz always made sure that he would always call people what they wanted to be called and that included pronouns.
"That's my bad, fam. I didn't notice. Maybe it was your beauty that blinded me." He raised an eyebrow slightly. He honestly didn't mean it in a flirtatious way. The proverbial ship had sailed as far as getting their number went.
"I don't need a refund. I found exactly what I came here for." Jazz held his hand up and gestured that he didn't want money back. "I'll be back. Soon." Jazz took in the art piece one last time, "Hm… yeah that's definitely dread I'm feeling." He grinned at his tour guide before turning on the spot. He flashed the peace sign as he began strolling towards the door.
As annoying as the man had been, Metzli could see a new, more genuine side of him when embarrassment flooded over him. They considered for a moment that maybe they were a bit too harsh, becoming part of the problem themself. People so often ostracised Metzli, made fun of them when they were so clearly still in the room, that they were too quick to judge the man. Before they could properly apologize though, he turned on his heel and was exiting the door.
Metzli stood there like a deer in the headlights, blinking with lids of confusion. He said he’d be back soon. They’d try harder the next time to be more welcoming. “Okay,” Metzli nodded, looking at their hand and making the peace sign at themself. They mimicked what they’d seen and did it in return, a gesture of good will. The two would meet again.

and aspect i've been forgetting to mention on the topic of pricing for the eras tour is the fact that lots of artists have managed to go on tour with relatively low prices because they have relegated almost all floor tickets to standing only, meaning people will have to arrive early to fight for their spot and won't be able to move at all once they're inside
one upside this way of selling tickets is that you can pack people as tightly as possible and sell at capacity, if the venue has a capacity for 10k standing then they sell 10k floor tickets. this is good for getting as much people inside the venue as possible and keep the prices lower, but i think the downsides of this are obvious to everyone. this practice not only encourages camping and the quite honestly unsanitary conditions we've seen at shows lately like for example people peeing on the floor at harry styles' shows because they're either trapped in the crowd or don't want to risk losing their spot, but it's also a safety risk and a crowd situation waiting to happen, especially at the barricades.
taylor has always taken her safety and the safety of the audience as a priority and this tour she took it a step further by eliminating the standing pit altogether and making the entire floor assigned seats, meaning there's no risk of crowding. this is really good when it comes to ensuring the safety of the audience but it reduces capacity by giving everyone a certain amount of space plus a chair, she completely eliminated the need for camping and instead of selling at capacity she organised in a way that prioritised fans' safety
she could have made a standing only floor with a ridiculously overpriced pit, she could have packed the floor and fit more people in there than there currently are, and the costs would be reduced because there's more ticket availability but she would have to risk everyone's safety and experience for that so she decided not to.
she did the best she could with the pricing and distribution while still prioritising people's experiences and safety, and i'm sure that's a choice she had to fight for because i would bet actual money her tour managers told her to do standing floor to sell as many tickets are possible per venue.

SEE IN THIS MOMENT RAISE HELL IN VIDEO FOR NEW SONG "THE PURGE"
Lead single off upcoming album 'GODMODE'
In This Moment have been playing two new songs on their current co-headlining tour with Motionless in White: "Sacrifice" and "The Purge." Today (July 18th), the band finally released the studio version of the latter along with a striking music video, directed by Jensen Noen, that finds singer Maria Brink and her masked backup dancers raising hell in a gothic church. Watch and listen above.
"We are thrilled to unveil "The Purge" to everyone," Brink commented. "I am so grateful for how everything flowed to bring this song to life, both sonically and visually. [Producer] Kane Churko and Jensen Noen helped to create this musical and cinematic experience with us and we could not have done it without them. The underlying message of the song is to not fall too deeply into the rabbit hole, everything is about finding balance. I had a lot of emotions building within me when I approached the song for the first time and after years of holding it all in I finally got to let it out! Enjoy."
"The Purge" is the lead single off In This Moment's highly anticipated eighth album, GODMODE, the follow-up to 2020's Mother. In addition to announcing the new record, Brink and Co. have also announced a month-long fall tour with Ice Nine Kills, whose frontman Spencer Charnas guests on the GODMODE song "Damaged." Dubbed the Kiss of Death Tour, the trek is set to kick off November 3rd and wrap December 2nd, with Avatar and New Years Day playing in support.
Tickets for the Kiss of Death Tour will be available starting with Citi and Artist pre-sales beginning today at 12 p.m. ET. Additional pre-sales will run throughout the week ahead of the general on-sale beginning Friday, July 21st at 10 a.m. local time at livenation.com.

Touts Out! How Twickets is changing the landscape of ticket resale
Tumblr media
As Twickets’ growth smashes 1.5 million visitors in 2022 and gross revenues soar by 140% compared to pre-covid, it is no surprise that popular Stockport-based band, Blossoms, has joined Twickets’ already prominent list of partners, including George Ezra, Ed Sheeran, and Adele.
The ticket resale revolution began in 2011 on Twitter as “@Twickets” by London-based web designer and music fan, Richard Davies, to combat empty seats in “sold out” gigs. Just over a decade later and Twickets has evolved into a formidable business that has changed how we do ticket resale.
Pre-2011 saw music-lovers, theatre-enthusiasts and sport-goers ripped off by resale prices in the secondary ticket market. The resale industry was unsympathetic to fans that cancelled their plans due to unforeseen circumstances but did not want their ticket going to waste.
It meant empty seats in shows that were supposedly “sold out”. However, this left a gap in the market for an ethical fan-to-fan ticket resale service, and Mr Davies delivered.
Initially using twitter to connect fans, his idea was to resell tickets at face value or less; within two years, Twickets resold 45,000 spare tickets.
A movement had begun and was quickly gathering momentum. With the introduction of an easy to navigate website, locating events became simpler; be it sport, music, or theatre and arts, the internal search engine allows the user to find specific events by name, date, and location.
With the added features of a Live Ticket Stream and allowing users to set up alerts that ping straight to their phone, Twickets continued to grow and new partnerships forged with influential artists and companies like Spice Girls and Gigs and Tours.
Twickets has forced a change in the industry despite rivals adopting similar models like a dynamic pricing program. Twickets still remain the only service that can resell any ticket to any event, anywhere.
Fan-to-fan interaction is encouraged through Twitter with prompts for friendly, nostalgic conversation while updating them on the latest available tickets or to draw attention to those pesky touts.
Their frequent informative blog keeps the fans in the know with current developments and new partnerships and has resulted in Twickets seeing over 300k tickets listed in Q2 this year.
The “Events Near You” feature - available on their app and website - promotes last-minute tickets in the user’s immediate vicinity. Also, the buyer can “Make an Offer” on the original selling price, preventing tickets from going to waste.
Twickets reached three million new users in 2019 and ticketed over 25,000 events, with over 60% of their transactions made within the last week before a show takes place.
Since 2019 the app has been downloaded over 100k times while transactions have risen by 30%.
WHAT NEXT?
With the international market looking for resale reform, Twickets, having doubled its revenue in international territories - particularly in mainland Europe - is looking to expand into Germany and France.  Change is happening. Twickets is showing it can be done by putting fans and artists first.
What are your thoughts? Have you had a bad experience with ticket resale? Tell your story in the comments below.

Concert Ticket Prices: The Lower the Better?
Group member:
Tianhui Qian(Student ID: 23813576 Email: [email protected])
Shuan Zhu(Student ID: 81525272 Email: [email protected])
Most people have the experience went to concerts or have friends and family who have attended concerts. When fans’ favorite singer or band is going to give a concert, it must be one of the most important things they want to attend. Buying concert tickets is an ordinary life behavior that involves knowledge about microeconomics.
Demand and Supply
In microeconomics, the demand curve represents the relationship between the price of a good or service and the amount demanded by consumers. For concert tickets, assuming all other factors, such as the artist’s popularity, venue size, and concert time, remain constant, demand will generally increase as ticket prices fall. This relationship can be described by a downward-sloping demand curve.
The supply curve represents the relationship between the price of a good or service and the amount supplied by a producer. For concert tickets, the supply curve reflects the number of tickets available at different price levels. If ticket prices rise, concert organizers will release more tickets on the market, leading to an upward-sloping supply curve.
When demand and supply are exactly equal, it means that market equilibrium has been reached. For concert tickets, demand from people who want to buy concert tickets is precisely equal to the number of tickets released by the concert organizers. However, in real life, market equilibrium, especially in the concert market, is challenging to achieve. Most of the time, the demand for concert tickets will be greater than the supply, or the supply will be greater than the demand, which involves the knowledge of consumer surplus and producer surplus.
Consumer Surplus and Producer Surplus
Consumer surplus represents the difference between the maximum price consumers are willing to pay for a good or service and the price they actually pay. In the case of buying concert tickets, the consumer surplus is the area below the demand curve and above the ticket price. Consumers willing to pay more than the equilibrium price experience consumer surplus.
Consumer experience consumer surplus usually occurs in the case of ticket purchases for popular artists. For example, tickets for Taylor Swift’s concerts, which are currently on a global tour, are so hot that many fans have difficulty getting tickets. When many people scramble for concert tickets, a character we are familiar with, scalpers, appear and offer high-priced tickets to fans. The essence of this sales activity is to tap the consumer surplus of fans. When concert tickets are unavailable, fans are willing to pay more than the market price for tickets as long as that price is within their consumer surplus, which is the maximum price they can afford. Consumer surplus is the blue area in Figure 1.
Producer surplus is the difference between the price producers receive for a good or service and the minimum price they are willing to accept. For concert tickets, the producer surplus is the area above the supply curve and below the ticket price. Producers willing to sell tickets below the equilibrium price experience producer surplus.
Producers experiencing producer surplus occur when concert ticket sales are poor, and supply exceeds demand. In order to attract more fans to buy concert tickets, concert organizers may lower the price of tickets to sell more tickets, as long as the price of tickets is within the producer’s surplus, which is the lowest price they can afford. Producer surplus is the orange area in Figure 1.
Figure 1. Consumer & Producer Surplus.
Tumblr media
Deadweight Loss
Yet, every consumer wants to be able to buy their favorite artist’s concert tickets at a lower price. Every concert promoter wants to sell concert tickets at a higher price. If fans want to get their hands on best-selling concert tickets at a low price, is that possible? Excluding other circumstances, such as event promotions and internal ticket purchases, government intervention to set a maximum price for concert tickets or provide social benefits for ticket purchases, resulting in the actual price paid by fans below the market price, can achieve this wish. However, does setting a low price for concert tickets really benefit the fans?
Figure 2 shows the market demand after the government set the maximum price. When the price is limited below the equilibrium price, there is a situation of excess demand. According to Figure 2, at the maximum price set by the government, the number of tickets that organizers are willing to offer decreases from 70,000 tickets under market equilibrium to 50,000 tickets, while the demand of consumers increases from 70,000 tickets to 90,000 tickets. There is 40,000 excess ticket demand in the market. At the same time, the range of consumer surplus becomes a blue zone below the demand curve and above the current government-set maximum price. The range of producer surplus becomes the orange zone above the supply curve, below the maximum price set by the government.
Figure 2. If the Ticket Price is Lower.
Tumblr media
Since the organizers are only willing to offer 50,000 tickets, both the consumer and producer surplus lost the yellow area in the figure, known as deadweight loss. The deadweight loss represents the potential residual loss that could have been gained if the market had been allowed to reach equilibrium. It means that consumers lose the extra utility they get from buying more tickets, while producers lose the potential revenue they get from selling more tickets. Government intervention distorts the allocation of resources, preventing consumers who value concert tickets above market prices from buying movie tickets because the number of tickets is too low. Some producers who are willing to offer more tickets at market prices are unable to.
Due to the deadweight loss of the yellow area, inefficiency leads to a loss of society’s overall welfare, which in turn worsens the social situation. In general, government intervention in setting maximum prices has led to an insufficiently efficient allocation of resources. Society would be better off if the government stayed out of it and allowed market equilibrium to work. Thus, lower concert ticket prices don’t necessarily mean better for fans.

Artists of effortlessly accessible complication, on Set Yourself On Fire, Stars took our worst fears - both personal and global - and slayed the anxieties with their perfect pop music. Widely lauded as amongst their most ambitious, accomplished, and affecting works of their storied existence, Stars’ Set Yourself On Fire (20th Anniversary Edition) carries the torch of the magical songs that have set so many hearts alight.  Set Yourself On Fire drew international praise from the likes of Pitchfork, The Guardian, NME, Rolling Stone, Q, Entertainment Weekly, and Spin, amongst many others. The album, also regaled across Canadian music press, was nominated for Alternative Album of The Year at the JUNO Awards in 2005, and certified Platinum in 2006. SYOF has seen continued praise and recognition at its 10th and 15th year anniversary marks - a true testament to the album’s staying power.
