so i was thinking about lan wangji and how he has this reputation of being righteous while also in my opinion acting like an asshole? like he acts very petty and is ready to pull his sword on people a lot and isn't really involved in politics even in a way that makes sense as a high ranking member of a sect? like the silencing spell on jin ling is uh. bad.
it's like lan wangji has scary dog privilege by virtue of his reputation and his brother and uncle who will wreck you if you do or say anything to/about him. except thats not right because theyre not scary dogs at all, they just protect him. it's like lan wangji is a scary dog and lan xichen and lan qiren smooth things over and stop him from doing something too awful and calm others down after lan wangji does something not too great. and i guess with the reputation for being righteous (second jade of lan) is enough to deter people from saying/doing things like "hey he's a dick" because dude that's hanguang-jun, what are you talking about???".
and the people he saves on night hunts or whatever are random civilians who don't interact with him enough to see him behave badly, and a cool and aloof powerful cultivator saving them gets a lot of leeway on account of being a famous powerful cultivator and also being someone who saved them from fierce corpses or spirits or healed their kid or grandparent or whatever. who cares if theyre quiet and kinda rude they saved their sister!!!!!
so when lan wangji is a dick to jin ling or fucks off from political stuff or is ready to pull his sword on jiang cheng in the jiang ancestral hall or whatever he's doing so with the reputation of hanguang-jun who saves people and also is supported by lan xichen (lan sect leader and brother) and lan qiren (former acting sect leader, uncle, teacher) and they are protective and dare i say overindulgent of lan wangji???? like bro you are a political figure whether you like it or not, your actions have effects on things besides your own direct personal circle. like the heir of gusu lan pulling a sword on sect leader jiang is fucking political incident whether or not theyre both being assholes or not. the adult heir of gusu lan using the lan silencing spell on the teenage heir of lanling jin is a political incident. not engaging with other sects politically, ever, says important things about your priorities and your influence both within the sect and without.
also like. what if something happened to gusu lan? like say lan xichen is injured, and lan qiren is also out of commission for some reason? that means lan wangji is acting sect leader. can you IMAGINE lan wangji as sect leader. imagine it. really visualize it. there's a lot of jokes about lan wangji being a petty bitch and people love it but imagine a petty bitch as a sect leader. the situation would blow up faster than lans get drunk on a glass of wine. like dude. so much stuff would be totally fucked.
anyway lan wangji as he is in mdzs would be a shit sect leader/chief cultivator/etc. he doesn't behave like he's intimately involved in the politics of his world (which he is) and may or may not have training in doing so - maybe he has training and just doesn't do it? which is also really bad, then he would know better and still not do it or help in any way.

Butterfly Effect
In which a 29-year-old gay LXC married his 26-year-old family friend JC (who happens to be a trans man) out of convenience so that both of their traditional families would leave them alone and let them live their lives, without thinking that he will find love in this marriage.
N/A: Xicheng AU based on that Redditor who shared his touching AF love story.
For the #CultivaTober2020, another story that no one asked me. Incomplete for the lack of time.
Day 23: Butterfly
.
A lot of people like to think that love comes before marriage, oftentimes it doesn't always work out that way.
Sometimes people get married because of different pressures and expectations put on them by society and their families, but that doesn't mean you can't find love in this kind of situation.
Lan Xichen didn’t expected falling in love with his husband.
They didn’t marry for love, actually they married to make a giant scam on their families.
It maybe be weird, but Lan Xichen was a gay man that came from a wealthy and traditional Chinese family where he managed the business extension abroad.
And as the current heir of the company after his father’s death, the elders didn’t liked when he came up openly about his homosexuality and they didn’t accept it. No matter how many times Xichen said them that he wouldn’t marry a man, they still wanted him very married to a lady from a good and influential family.
One day Xichen got tired and said them clearly that he will just stay single, so they should stay out of his business.
That kind of worked for four years, until the last year when uncle Lan Qiren trapped him in a visit with a this “girl” that was the single “daughter” of one of their business allies and left them alone in a room.
Xichen looked at her, she was pretty indeed. His posture emitted an air of confidence and his almond gray eyes resembled storm clouds, like lighting bolts would appear in any moment to attack, her short black hair was pulled into a bun with a purple ribbon and she wore a big violet hoodie that covered all her body curves.
It was so obvious that neither of them wanted to be here.
Anyways, Xichen didn’t expected that this person would misunderstand the whole situation:
“Listen to me, because I’m not going to repeat myself. I’m a trans male and I’m not out of my family and I DON’T WANT to get married to you”, blunted out the person. “You don’t want to be married with me because I am a MAN, so just leave it!”
Lan Xichen blinked, really shocked.
Did she.... Did he really thought that I set up the visit?
“I don’t even like women, what do you mean?” Xichen babbled, confused at least.
The boy looked at him, suspicious.
“What did you said?”
Xichen massaged the left side of his forehead, without knowing if the should laugh or cry at the turn of the events. “Well, I’m gay.”
When he said it, he didn’t wanted to be funny.
He was serious.
“Oh my god,” mumbled the boy before to start laughing loudly. “My mom will die if she knows!”
At least one of them was having a good time, finding the whole thing hilarious.
Xichen didn’t noticed when he started to laugh too.
Well, could you blame him? This was so ridiculous. Yet, they ended being friends after that unfortunate turn of the events. They even exchanged numbers before to part away.
.     ·  ✦
“I knew it was her, she’s perfect. Well mannered and ...”
Uncle Qiren was delighted at the idea that Xichen was cured from homosexuality, the poor man still has hopes that he would change his mind and will fall in love with the little daughter of Jiang Fengmian haha.
If you only know, uncle. Thought Xichen, having a good time that night.
Unlike Wangji who seemed worried, he was his only support in those kinda family meetings.
“Brother.”
Xichen smiled at his brother, relieved that everything ended in good terms even if it was a disaster. “Don’t worry, Wangji. I know what I’m doing.”
He couldn’t be more wrong.
Wangji looked at him, unconvinced. “If you say so.”
However, Xichen didn’t overthink it in the moment because Jiang Wanyin was someone really nice to talk by the way, so he keep talking with him.
And they talked a lot through nine weeks.
What made both families to get excited at the match, they never got this far with any other candidates.
So they kept pushing them about marriage.
Xichen didn’t knew why, but one day they just accepted to marry each other. He remember that both were "like yeah, screw it" and that’s how they got quickly married in Yunmeng a summer day of August to get their families off of their backs.
Wanyin moved at Gusu with him and both pulled a giant scam on their families and got away with it.
No matter how you see it, it was a win-win situation. Wanyin lived his own life and take the guest room for himself while Xichen didn’t get more cutting remarks about being gay because he has a “wife” now.
Life was easygoing, so he let Wanyin cut his hair short and stop dressing feminine as his family forced him.
It was a little gesture, but that small change resulted in something unexpected.
.     ·  ✦
The things had been so smooth sailing between them that they even adopted a dog, Xichen was having a good time when he come to his house now that he has a roommate and a pet.
It felt more like a home than the place where he’s slept.
He didn’t noticed before, but his house didn’t felt like a home before he married.
Wanyin resume his university studies and made new friends, he was so comfortable and happy that he started to cooking dinner for both of them recently. Sometimes Xichen couldn’t eat with him because he returned at home passed by midnight, but he tried to return early at home to share at least a couple of dinners together at week.
That night Xichen got a little late, but Wanyin stayed with him in the dinning room. Looking him eat everything and even repeating a dish.
“Were you hungry, huh?”
Xichen was used to not talk when he eat because he was educated like that, but he found rude to not reply his husband at the same time. So he did an exception that night.
After all, Wanyin cooked that delicious food for him and waited for him.
“I didn’t have lunch today.”
Wanyin looked at him, with a bothered frown in his eyebrows. It reminded Xichen the first time that they share a dinner in home and he couldn’t stand the spicy food that Wanyin cooked.
That time he thought he would die, but he survived to Wanyin spicy food.
Now he’s getting to used to piquant food.
“I can cook your lunch.”
“You don’t have to do it, Wanyin.”
“What kind of husband am I if I left my spouse starving?” Wanyin teased him, smirking.
.     ·  ✦
Next morning Xichen didn’t expected that Wanyin would fulfill his word and made a lunch for him, even his coworkers seemed surprised to see him eating in his office instead to skipping the lunch when he had important meetings.
That day he had a meeting with Nie Mingjue and Jin Guangyao, so they planned to invite him to eat a hotpot without knowing that Xichen would refuse.
When they saw why he refused, they stayed to accompany him.
It seems that it was a friendship duty annoy at your recently married friends.
“Now Xichen-ge gots lovely lunchs made by his wife, I’m jealous”, said Jin Guangyao as he looked for food delivery on his telephone for him and Mingjue, they didn’t want to leave his friend alone if they could tease him.
Mingjue nudged at Xichen, grinning “As your childhood friend, I demand to be the godfather of your first child.”
“That’s unfair, Da-ge! Let Xichen-ge chose the godfather!!”
Xichen smiles nervously at his friends, feeling a cold sweet in this forehead.
“We are not having kids.”
Mingjue raised an eye brown, confused. “Why not?”
Xichen felt conflicted.
Well, these were his friends and he should trust them, right? He wasn’t ashamed of his husband, actually he felt proud that he could be himself since they met.
“Uhm, how I could say this? My “wife” is a trans male, so...”
“Oh.”
“It’s complicated, we got it.” Ends the conversation Jin Guangyao, putting a hand in Mingjue’s mouth.
.     ·  ✦
Months passed fast and it was December when Xichen realized that his husband started to getting closer to him.
Not like they were strangers before, but something changed after Christmas.
Wanyin started to watch tv with him in the sofa when Xichen was in home, eating with him every time they can, buying him stuff and even texting him more frequently, sending photos of him and Huan Huan when he go to walk their puppy. He even started staying in Xichen’s room to facetime his mom because she always complained about how he always facetimed alone so he came to Xichen bed to get him to say hi.
And after a while, Wanyin got tired to get out of Xichen’s bed to go back to his own to sleep, so he moved to Xichen room permanently.
Before Xichen knew, they escalated to cuddling awaken and sleeping.
Contrary to Xichen could think, it wasn’t that weird.
Actually it felt heartwarming to hold his tiny husband on his arms, specially when their puppy dog was in the middle of them. Enjoying the warm between his owners.
It made him feel something, but he wasn’t sure what.
.     ·  ✦
“When are you two going to give us a grandchild?” Wanyin’s mother asked them one day via facetime.
Wanyin went all red, screaming. “Mom!”
It was obvious that he didn’t wanted to have this conversation with his mother.
Xichen was beside him in the bed, working on his laptop before to speak in the name of the two. “We want to enjoy our youth first. So no kids for now.”
Hoping that Wanyin wouldn’t mind with his idea.
They didn’t talked about children, yet.
His mother-in-law sounded a bit beaten after that, but she insisted on encourage Wanyin to make his own family as if their dog wasn’t their son already.
When Wanyin cut the call, Xichen finished his work so he put the computer aside.
“Sorry, Xichen.”
“Why? It’s not your fault that your mother want another grandchild.”
Wanyin looked at him before sprawled out on top of him, doing random things and Xichen was unsure what it means. “Then, how many children do you want?”
He asked so suddenly that got Xichen out of guard.
“What?”
“I’m joking, do you want children anyways?”
He was always like that since they got close to each other last year, always joking around him.
Sometimes Xichen didn’t know if he was joking or being serious.
“I don’t know, I never thought about having kids.” Xichen blurt out of his mind, smiling at the thought that they have this level of communication to talk about things like this. “What about you?”
“We have Huan Huan, enough for me.”
“I don’t think your mother
“Well, Huan Huan would be the only grandson that I’m going to give her.”
.     ·  ✦
They almost kissed twice, one time when they were cuddling in the bed and the other one when Wanyin started sitting on Xichen’s lap, nuzzling him and stuff like that.
Their faces were so close that Xichen thought they were going to kiss.
It was so close that he could feel his hot breath, but then Wanyin went all red and jumped ship at the last minute. Xichen felt so disappointed that they didn't kissed already, but he thought that he understand why Wanyin might not kiss him.
He must be thinking that he doesn't want this or something like that.
Contrary to what people could think about his husband, Wanyin had the tendency to overthink things.
He still was working on this, but Xichen couldn’t handle with the self-isolation and the romantic? tension in the house every time he saw Wanyin flustering and getting shy around him.
It was odd after met the confident and a little arrogant side of his husband, so this new side made him feel things that he didn’t know he could feel for Wanyin.
Xichen even feel butterflies in the stomach every time they get close for any reason.
He just wants to kiss Wanyin so badly that he felt embarrassed.
He was so screwed.
.     ·  ✦
One day, Xichen couldn’t stand the situation anymore. He was still a little unsure about his own feelings so he talked long and tended with his friends at the bar about how he wants to take Wanyin on dates and kiss him and let him speak as much as he wants because Wanyin likes to talk about the things that he loves and how much he loves their dog, he could talk about Huan Huan all day and Xichen wouldn't mind, he loves their puppy too.
In the end, he ended asking advice to asking his husband out.
“I want him be happy and I want myself be happy. So how can I ask my literal husband of nine months to be in an actual relationship with me?”
"Talk to him. Tell him what you’re feeling. Ask if he feels the same way," said Mingjue.
“You made it sound that simple, Da-ge.”
"I think you should let him know that you’re open to having a more intimate relationship. It seems he’s feeling something too since he’s cuddling you,” added Jin Guangyao.
“I don’t know what to do.”
Mingjue take a a big sip of wine before to talk again. “Just close your eyes and jump, man. You got this."

Jin Rusong Lives / On AO3
Nie Huaisang says things nobody wants to hear, because someone has to.
As Jin Rulan explained how Jin Guangyao had faked the death of his son to put him in a magical sleep before still using the shock of that fake loss to eliminate enemies, Nie Huaisang was hit by an unkind thought. Of course, most of his thoughts were unkind these days, it was the sort of person he had become. Still this one, passing through his mind while a child he loved had found protection in his arms, struck him as particularly awful.
Nie Huaisang would have preferred for Jin Guangyao to have really murdered his own son.
It had made him so easy to hate after all. A man capable of eliminating such a sweet little boy could only be a monster. So finding that he had instead kept his son hidden, that he had secretly worked for years to try to save him, collecting piles and piles of information on the sickness that plagued his son… And although he hadn't performed the surgery, although he hadn't been there to see it, Jin Guangyao had saved his son.
"He didn't have the skill to perform the surgery himself," Wen Ning mumbled, his eyes darting again and again toward Jin Rusong. "But his notes were very clear and well organised. I… I've been training on animals since little Jin Gongzi was discovered. He'll still need to be monitored for a while but… but he should be fine now."
Nie Huaisang smiled at him.
He also liked it better when the dreaded Ghost General was just an abomination to be despised.
"Well, that's just amazing, Wen gongzi !" he laughed. "Such skill, you are truly worthy of being your sister's brother! SongSong, I know Wen gongzi looks a little scary, but you should say thank you. He worked very hard so you could be healthy again."
Jin Rusong shot a look at Wen Ning, then shook his head and hid his face against Nie Huaisang’s shoulder, bringing up the fan in his hand so he really wouldn't have to see the fierce corpse.
"I want mommy and daddy."
Unsure what else to do, Nie Huaisang pulled the child closer against his chest and exchanged a look with the other three.
Wen Ning, without surprise, only looked extremely uncomfortable and clearly wished he could be somewhere else now that he had played his role in this mess. Wei Wuxian still had one hand clenched on Chenqing, clearly expecting Nie Huaisang to be pulling a trick of some sort. Rude, considering the efforts Nie Huaisang had made to allow his return among the livings, but smart as well, all things considered. As for Jin Rulan…
Since the death of Jin Guangyao, Nie Huaisang had done his best to treat Jin Rulan like an adult. He remembered how Nie Mingjue, rising to power at a similar age, had hated the condescension of other sect leaders. After taking so much from him, it had felt fair to treat that young sect ruler as an equal and ignore his youth.
But right there and then, it would have taken too much effort to pretend that Jin Rulan was anything but a lost and confused teenager who clearly ached over yet another family secret. He was too young to deal with this, and Jin Rusong would have no reason to trust the other two, and…
Once, years before, Lan Xichen had confided to Jin Guangyao that he'd always resented the way his uncle had handled the news of his mother's death. Nie Huaisang had overheard that, present yet ignored as he often was. Something Lan Xichen had said had stuck with him: 'Children deserve the same honesty as adults, because they can feel pain no less intense as those older than them.'
Nie Huaisang looked down at the sobbing child in his arms, begging for his parents. Both the truth and a lie would hurt Jin Rusong, but only one would let him move on, and Nie Huaisang did not trust the others to give his nephew that cruel mercy.
Ah, well. He had little hopes of being allowed to see Jin Rusong again after that day, and they all hated him already.
Jin Rusong deserved the truth.
"SongSong, listen, you understand what dead means, right?"
Wei Wuxian glared at him, and hissed. "Nie-xiong, don't !"
Nie Huaisang ignored him. He had no lessons in honesty to receive from Wei Wuxian.
"It's when people are gone forever," Jin Rusong mumbled. "Like LingLing's mommy and daddy, and like grandma when she got sick. They go and you cannot see them again. Uncle Nie, I want mommy and daddy. I really want them now. It's scary here."
Nie Huaisang’s heart clenched.
"I'm sorry, SongSong,” he whispered. “But mommy and daddy have died. It's just you and LingLing now. But I know he loves SongSong a lot and will take good care of you."
"No! I don't want that!" Jin Rusong shouted, crying heavily and throwing away Nie Huaisang’s fan. "I want mommy and daddy! I want them now! Uncle Nie, I want them now!"
The child started hitting Nie Huaisang with surprising strength that would leave bruises, and pulling hard on his hair. It was an ugly tantrum from a usually placid boy, but those were ugly circumstances, so Nie Huaisang allowed him to let his anger explode against him.
Jin Rulan, more disturbed by this display, dared to come closer again. He put one hand on his cousin's shoulder, trying to soothe him.
"A-Song, calm down," he asked in a voice that reminded Nie Huaisang of Jiang Wanyin in his kinder moments. "It'll be okay. I'll take care of you, like when I was little."
Seeing that Jin Rusong wasn't rejecting his cousin's touch, Nie Huaisang tried to gently push him into Jin Rulan's arms. This backfired when Jin Rusong grasped his hair tighter so he could not be handed over to anyone.
"I don't know him!" Jin Rusong wailed. "I want mommy! I want my mommy, I want her now!"
Nie Huaisang grimaced, and pulled the child as tight against his chest as he dared, rocking him a little to calm him.
"I know SongSong. Your mommy would prefer to be here too. She was very sad that she couldn't see you anymore. Mommy loved SongSong so much!"
Qin Su had nearly broken when she'd lost her son. Nie Huaisang remembered how she had looked like a ghost for months afterward.
Maybe it was understanding how and why she had lost him that had broken her in the end. Nie Huaisang could still see her with that dagger in her chest, pale and bloodied, so much like her son had been years before… and it had been his own fault. He had known she wouldn't take well to the news, but as long as it could hurt Jin Guangyao… nothing else had mattered then.
Pushing away those thoughts, Nie Huaisang continued rocking the little boy in his arms and whispering whatever soothing nonsense passed his mind until, after what felt like an eternity, the crying and thrashing stopped. Jin Rusong had fallen asleep in his arms.
"Jin zongzhu should take him now," Nie Huaisang suggested, looking down at the little boy in his arms rather than the people around him. He looked so peaceful now, much more like the Jin Rusong of old.
He startled when Jin Rulan took him on that offer and quickly snatched his cousin.
The problem with those Jins was that they carried a strong family resemblance. Holding this child, the young sect leader looked like his father, and like his uncle… and neither were men Nie Huaisang wanted to think about at the moment.
"Well, that settles it for the time being," Nie Huaisang said with all the good humour he could muster. "Try not to lose him again."
"You shouldn't have told him about his parents," Jin Rulan hissed. "You had no right!"
Nie Huaisang shrugged. Someone had to say it. It wasn't going to be Wei Wuxian who liked secrets far too much, enough so that Nie Huaisang himself had never found out about his core until that night at the temple. And it shouldn't have been Jin Rulan either, who would already have a hard time getting his little cousin to trust him.
But for him to break his nephew's heart… well, he'd done enough wrong already, a little more was nothing.
"Get Zewu-Jun here," Nie Huaisang advised. "Jin Rusong adores him and it has always been mutual. Honestly, I don't know why you didn't think to bring him here already. That child needed to wake to a familiar face, not to his nearly adult cousin and two boogeymen!"
Wei Wuxian glared at him, while Wen Ning appeared unconcerned by the accusation. He'd heard worse, most likely.
"We thought of it," Wei Wuxian explained, "but he's still in seclusion, and Lan Zhan wasn't sure how he'd react to the news. It might come as a shock to you, but he didn't take well being tricked into becoming a murderer. You might be cold blooded enough to take it in stride that Jin Guangyao didn't murder his son, but Zewu-Jun actually has a heart."
"Wen gongzi, don't presume you know me," Nie Huaisang retorted coldly. "And apparently, you don't know Zewu-Jun either if you think he wouldn't overcome his grief for this child. But fine, it's your choice. Now tell me, having awakened this child and performed a miracle on him, what do you intend to do with him?"
Wei Wuxian glared harder, while Jin Rulan looked away and Wen Ning suddenly pretended he was busy tidying the room. Their silence was an answer in itself.
Suddenly, Nie Huaisang almost missed Jin Guangyao. At least he always had a plan, instead of just following whatever fancy passed his brain and hoping someone would clean up the mess if it went wrong.
"I see. Was Jin zongzhu planning to raise a child himself when he's not even of age, while also keeping together a sect that's tearing apart and will take any excuse to turn on him? If so, you should have left that boy to his sleep."
"I couldn't leave him like that!" Jin Rulan exploded, making the boy in his arms stir a little and whimper. All four of them froze, but Jin Rusong did not wake up, and Jin Rulan continued in a quieter voice. "We had all those notes on how to heal him, and he's family! What sort of person would I be if I didn't do everything I could to wake him up?"
A kind one, Nie Huaisang thought. Eternal sleep would have been less cruel than this mess. But of course, that was only his opinion as someone to whom the truth had never been kind. Jin Rusong might be luckier.
"He'll be in danger in Carp Tower," Nie Huaisang pointed out. "Your uncle had too many enemies and friends, and I'm not sure which ones will be worse. With the current political situation, I'm ready to bet a few people will try to use him to their advantage."
He was sure of that, because it had happened with Jin Rulan himself after the death of Jin Guangshan. Jiang Wanyin had been forced to steal him away to Lotus Piers until the situation had calmed down in Carp Tower, with Jin Guangyao coming on top of the struggle for power.
"Now that you've started this mess, try to get your uncle involved," Nie Huaisang advised. "He'll think of some way to help."
Jin Rulan scoffed. "Of course he will! I've written to him already and he's coming, we just didn't plan for A-Song to wake up so early!"
Hearing this, Wen Ning mumbled a pitiful 'sorry', but Nie Huaisang barely noticed. All his attention was on Jin Rulan. He was still mostly a child, but to be able to put aside his pride and ask for help at such a moment…
Up until then, Nie Huaisang’s opinion of the young sect leader had been decent, but not great. Finding out he had brought his cousin back among the living without a plan had lowered his opinion of Jin Rulan, in fact. But knowing when to turn to someone with more experience… that was a good quality to have for someone coming into power so young, as was the fact that Jin Rulan had known not to trust anyone within his own sect with this business, turning instead to his uncle and Wei Wuxian who were both crazy but reliable.
Jin Rulan might grow into a better sect leader than the rest of them, if nobody murdered him for being a little too smart and too just.
Nie Huaisang’s eyes then fell on Jin Rusong, still sleeping. He wondered what he would grow into. If Jiang Cheng ended up raising him, if Lan Xichen gave a hand as well… then Jin Rusong would become a fine young man one day. After all Jin Rulan and Lan Sizhui had turned out pretty well, in spite of circumstances.
But of course, none of that was Nie Huaisang’s problem.
"I think you don't need me anymore," he said with forced cheer. "I'll leave you to your business. Jin zongzhu, considering the circumstances, I think it's silly to continue pretending we'll be able to continue discussing sect business at present, so I think I'll be leaving Carp Tower now. Unless you think I can be of use again?"
"We'll manage without you," Jin Rulan retorted, holding his cousin closer, as if he feared Nie Huaisang might try to get him back.
A ridiculous notion.
Nie Huaisang wasn't stupid to let himself get close to anyone again, least of all this child he loved so much.
"Take good care of him," he still ordered as he went to pick up the fan Jin Rusong had thrown away earlier. It had suffered no damage, thankfully. "He is a sweet boy, and things won't be easy for him."
Without waiting for their reaction, Nie Huaisang left the building and walked away as fast as his legs would allow.
He couldn't wait to go home and pretend none of this had happened.

The Untamed: part 2
Hello. I wrote my thoughts and reactions on the first five episodes of this show and now I’ll continue to do so for the next five. I’m really enjoying this so far.
[Disclaimer: this post contains spoilers! Also some swearing]
Ep. 6
The chaotic trio is back and they’re drunk!
*cackles* exposing Jiang Cheng like that! I love this brothers dynamic. 10/10
Ah, yes, the ”quick, act natural” moment I’ve heard so much about
Drunk Lan Wangji! This is the most expressions that I’ve seen on him
”No women would marry you” oh boy, do I have some news for you Wei Wuxian
The Wei family. Lemme just cry here
Oh no, now Zewu-jun and Lan Qiren knows about the liquoir. Fuck fuck fuck
Can you just imagine what this cold spring scene would have been like had it been exactly like the novel’s?
I’m pretty sure LWJ doesn’t care about the beauties in Yunmeng unless it’s you, Wei Wuxian
”What’s happening?” I’m asking the same thing, Wei Wuxian. I don’t remember this from the novel. I mean, a magical guqin and rabbits?? A mysterious cave?? Wtf
Oh? OH. The headband is now around their wrists
Okay, so... that’s Lan Yi and her story. Encounter like this did not happen in the novel, right?
Ep. 7
Small world, huh, Lan Yi
There’s so much happening right now
I’m seriously confused right now. I’m raking my brain to try and remember if this happened in the novel but I’m coming up empty. I don’t think this happened at this point or at least not like this? Then again, it’s been 2 years since I last read the novel so I wouldn’t trust my memory
But if I recall correctly, Qishan Wen sect’s Discussion Conference and the whole Xuanwu thing should be nearing us?
Is this Jiang Cheng being afraid that his brother will leave him behind
Aw, Wangji smiled
”Wish that I can graduate successfully and don’t come back here again” me back in high school
Shijie protection squad is back and fighting Jin Zixuan
Jiang Fengmian appears! Father of the year! (can you hear my sarcasm)
”Marriage is important” says Jin Guangshan, the man known to have many sidechicks. Madam Jin deserves better
”Let’s cancel the throt” Jiang Cheng and I seem to have the collective ”no!” ringing in our heads
”You’ll have a beautiful lady to marry you” does Hanguang-jun count?
Ep. 8
”Lotus Cove” it’s Lotus Pier wtf
Don’t throw the rabbit around like that! I almost got a heart attack!
Jiang Cheng with a bunny! I can die happy now
Aaand Wen Chao’s back. Great.
Lan Xichen’s probably cursing you off in his mind as we speak Wen Chao. You don’t just come into someone’s home and do that to their carpet. Rude.
It still bothers me that they’re already calling LXC ”Sect Leader.” Their father should still be alive at this point of the story
The plot has gone so off the rails at this point (compared to the novel) but oddly enough I don’t mind
Wei Wuxian and Nie Huaisang know nothing but trouble. They also seem to share one braincell when they are together. I don’t know who has it most of the time
Fuck, Lotus Pier is a beautiful place
Nie Huaisang.exe has stopped working
Lan Wangji standing in the rain of flower petals? Unparalleled gorgeous and elegant gentleman indeed.
Sure, let’s follow this crazy old woman into this seemingly deserted village. What could possibly go wrong
Sure, because staying the night in a place with a murderous statue is a great idea
Now would be a really good timing to have some of Dage’s teachings in memory, wouldn’t you agree, Huaisang?
I’m starting to feel like I should read the novel again
Ep. 9
Wait, Wen Qing is controlling them??? Yiling Matriarch Wen Qing
Wen Chao might be a big douche but I actually kinda like his robes (shut up, red’s my favourite color)
Are these the Wens WWX will help in the future?
And is that A-Yuan I see?
Ah, the chaotic trio and their one braincell
Ep. 10
Xiao Xingchen! With his eyes still there!
And Song Lan! The whole crew’s together! Or as we Finns might say ”koko lössi koossa”
Xue Yang is a smug, cunning bastard, isn’t he
Also, this scene with Xue Yang all tied up always brings my mind back to this one post about bdsm and Xue Yang’s gay awakening and it never fails to make me laugh
”Yet Clean Realm” it’s Unclean Realm ffs (these youtube subtitles, I swear)
I don’t trust Meng Yao
DAGE! NIE MINGJUE! In the brilliant words of Krazie.wes on twitter: Stan Dage fighting on a horse!
Unclean Realm looks so much like I imagined it to
Meng Yao really got a lot of shit for just being his mother’s son, huh
Fucking called it! Don’t 👏🏻 trust 👏🏻 Meng 👏🏻 Yao 👏🏻
Don’t tell me that that’s the Core Melting Hand Wen Zhuliu
It is. Shit.
