The Loud House: No Bus, No Fuss and Resident Upheaveal Reviews
Tumblr media
Welcome back Loudites! And i’ts time for a round of Lincoln focused episodes.. because apparently they couldn’t just.. you know, swap one of next weeks with one of this weeks so we got a sister episode with it like last time.. seriously now I know one of next week’s episodes involves Leni running for mayor I question why that’s not an episode every week.. or it’s own spinoff. And I know I have a mounting pile of those, Stella getting one, the diffrent world one with lori and bobby, The Snakebird Variety hour.. I know.. but tell me you wouldn’t watch that. Go on tell me.. i’ll know your lying. But it was an alright week and i’ll tell you all about it with spoilers after the cut.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
No Bus, No Fuss: We open with LIncoln arriving late for the bus, and Lynn not riding it because tracks starting and she has to get her workout in.. and because the writers need her not to be on the bus for this plot to work at all. It’s not a terrible way to write her out, she does do all the sports.. beacause apparently like Captain America she can do all the sports without having to train her body for each specific one because she’s in peak condition.  Though I do dock a few points from the episode for not having her run past it while saying on your left.
But yeah as for why it couldn’t Lincoln takes a seat in the back not realizing it’s bat country.. and also home to a gang of 8th grade bullies. Which.. yeah assholes do tend to flock to where there’s the most plausable deniablity top notch show. Though I tended to pick the back in high school more just because it was freaking comfy but hey, who says goons can’t enjoy comfort. They can’t however let this slide, not helped by Lincoln accidently spilling soda on him or his friends trying to help. Look Clyde you mean well but they just want a reason to beat him into a coma, and you basically just offered to join him.  So unupsirisngly when the Lincrew exit the bus their all in pretty bad shape. Including stella....
Tumblr media
Though in the bullies defense at least their equal opportunity jagoofs. One of them is a girl and they bullied stella just as mucha s the males. Dosen’t make them any less of a jungle gym full of tools but I can give them credit for not being sexist asshats just regular asshats. At their age that’s a hard bar to clear. Though LIncoln, Clyde and Stella all got off better than LIam, who got his undies pulled over his head, a bullying standard and rusty and Zach who. .had their underwear tied together in a not.
Tumblr media
Oh.. oh it gets worse. When we cut to them after school.. Rusty says the fire department had to cut them loose and Zach and I quote says “I saw too much of rusty.. and his birth mark”
Tumblr media
I.. I do not want to think about what that entails.. both because Rusty’s 12 and i’m not a pedophile and because he’s rusty. I just.. why show.. why would you try and make me THINK about that. How is Zach being scarred for life funny?
Tumblr media
All valid questions. But moving right along past that waking nightmare, LIncoln assures them they had to have cooled off... spoilers they have not and our heroes all exit the bus at lincolns because they tied their underwear together.  Yes all of them and yes including stella.
Tumblr media
They naturally don’t want to go back and Lincoln has the idea of just having the parents drive them, one a day. Stella has to take hers off the table since her parents leave early in the morning: Her mom goes into work early and her dad has hot yoga. Which is a disapointment as I genuinely want to know about Stella’s parents and hope we actually get to see them at some point and finding out one of them works really early and the other does yoga every day, and hot yoga at that which if your wondering what that is, and when I first heard the term I was, it’s doing yoga but in an extremley humid and exhausting environment. It is sadly not learning to do this, as i’d hoped
Tumblr media
Someday.. someday. But that still leaves a parent a piece so as you probably expect the bulk of the episode is “Parent drives them but is terrible about it” And honestly.. it’s not the series best stuff with most of these not being very funny. Most of them.  Zach’s Parents: Zach’s parents go by mighty morphin power rangers logic.. i.e. the parents look and act pretty much exactly like their kids. So the Gurdles are also discount dale gribbles who stalk a man in their van while the kids wait for death but death won’t come.. and as seen up top all are as fed up with Zach as I am. Again Rusty is growing on me, I still make fun of him because why wouldn’t I, but he at least serves a function in the group.  As i’ve mentioned before: Lincoln’s the leader and one of the main characters, Clyde is also a main charater and has been fairly fleshed out at this point, Stella is awesome and provides the brains and some pep, LIam is also optimsitic but provides farm jokes and muscle, and Rusty is the group asshole every gorup needs. Zach.. is the more sarcastic and cynical one but with Lynn now going to the same schoool.. why isn’t she in that roll? Have her date LIam, since I love that pairing since last week, and have her take Zach’s place since she plays the lancer role to lincoln better anyway. Zach just dosen’t do it well and comes off like a whiny baby and when he’s not in sarcasm mode he’s going off abotu aliens again, like a discount dale gribble. And look most viewers probably haven’t seen the genuine article which.. first off allow me
Tumblr media
And second off dosen’t mean you can slack off as i’ve seen better paranoid nutjobs with that gimmick, like Stan Pines or Andromeda. You, can, do, better. So either do it or get rid of Zach already.
Liam’s Parents: His meemaw takes them riding in her tractor, leanall in her bladder, cheated on her baby you can go and ask her. A pig vomits on Clyde because GET IT LIAM’S A HICK GET IT GET IT.
Tumblr media
Now THAT my friends is a hick.
Rusty’s Dad: So yeah I was not looking forward to meeting the stygian void Rusty popped out of but turns out his dad is apparently single. Which dosen’t suprise me, he’s rusty’s dad and both looks and  is voiced by Richard Steven Horvitz, which will never not be awesome and is not only perfect casting, as he plays dorks well, but also wonderful to see him in a modern production. I mean granted the zim movie was a modern production, but that was reviving a character he played a few decades ago.
And while Rusty’s dad apparently showed up before, in an episode I SAW no less “Back Out There” so unlike some lapses in my Loud House Knowledge I have no excuse here, it was still intresting to get an explination for why Rusty’s like this. His dad is a salesman, who practically bathes in colonge, tells the same story and stops on the street to shill to people while driving his son to school, something his son helps with. And probably Rocky just rolls his eyes at. I miss rocky.  And suprisingly given I hated his son pretty quickly.. I love this guy. He’s pretty endearing: Sure he’s a schmooze factory.. but he kept the kids in the divorce meaning his wife either abndoned him, or he fought hard for htem and does seem to genuinely love his kid and have a great rapport with him. I mean it helps I have a soft spot for Schyster characters, especially Stan PInes, but I just like the guy. The fact he has a vetran voice actor whose great at this sorta roll probably helps but still, he’s just wonderful and actually makes me like Rusty better, and I was already warming up to the kid, phrasing, as it explains why he’s such a douche: his dad pumps him full of self esteem, probably well meaningly and is a grown up rusty.. which is a better application of power rangers logic as instead of groaning at Zach’s angtics, this gives an explnation for why Rusty’s like this. So yeah only one of the segments I really laughed at.
Clyde’s Dads: Since we’ve met the boys before, it’s just a saftey based gag as they wrap the car in bubblerwap.
Tumblr media
Rita: Finally we get to Rita, who simply is a bit agressive getting parking.. btu she’s a mother of 11 and has had to deal with school parking for years and doing so for several children. So fair enough. She does cut off Lincoln’s asshole of a teacher who cuts him off in line in retrubution and then tells him “Tell your mom I said high”.. in a tone that implies he’s going to be hanging outside their house at 3 in the morning with a bat starring menacingly. Yeah not a big fan of Mr. Bohlmer anymore as he’s just your basic mean teacher sterotype.  So Lincoln cooks up another way, taking a plane. So we get flip back!
Tumblr media
What can I say he’s grown on me. And he’s hilarious here, taking the kids in a rusty plane that’s “No longer under federal investigation”, which is a SELLING POINT, has no refunds nd naturally the seatbelts are shoddy and he ejects them via trap door. I loved it.
But our heros dont and now trapped in the trees Rusty and Zach bicker with one another which.. fellas I know a way to settle this. KAL-IF-FEE!
Tumblr media
No matter who looses thier friends win. But they instead accept they have to ride the bus and face the bullies. But they also find when getting ready OHTER kids were bullied and the three cablebastards just take turns. But Lincoln has a plan to fix that and just.. outright stands up to them.. with the entire bus backing them. And honestly.. it’s not a bad message about bullying. Generally bullies won’t backed down when confronted all the time.. but when outmatched they will.. still not the best message but still far better than season 1′s “If a girl bullies you she secrety has a crush on you”. I.. will have to deal with those episodes someday but today is not that day. So our heroes celebrate and rusty does grow an inch, proving him right. Phrasing! Final Thoughts on NBNF:  This one was decent... it had a few dead spots, Zach’s parents are about as intresting as he is and given all the batshit and legitly dangerous conspiracy theories and theorists that came out of of the woodwork and were backed by the trump presdency, that bit plays even worse than it would normally and the stuff with Clydes dad’s has been done before.. and honestly is something they need to retire. The husbands have a better dynamic than this, let them use it. It was also a disapointment we dind’t get to see Stella’s family, especially since again the mcbride’s schitck is REALLY overplayed and it would’ve been nice ot get some fresh blood in there and we really didn’t need to see Zachs.  All those problems aside though this is a pretty standard plot with an okay ending, but some good gags along the way. Not Loud HOuse’s best and especially in a bad spot considering the last episode before this “Saved by the SPell” was not only way funnier but also used the lincrew better. Still can’t say i’ts bad just.. okay. Also I apparently like rusty as a character now....
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Resident Upheaval:  This one was also just...okay. Not terrible, and it has an actually intresting premise, but it doesn’t do much with it.
Our setup simple: Pop Pop’s girlfriend Myrtle wants to move into the same retirement home as his, explaining away her apparently living there by her just visting a lot. Sure why not. So Lincoln assures him he’s going to get her in, he’s the man with the plan.
Before we get to what the problem with that is.. gotta talk about the elephant in the room since Pop Pop is pretty absent for the rest of the episode.. and that’s that .. their STILL using him. As some of you probably know, and if you don’t your about to, Pop Pop’s voice actor Fred Willard, comedy legend and really sweet guy, passed away. So you can imagine how WRONG it feels to have not only another voice coming out of one of his characters but one that just dosen’t match. And I don’t blame Chris Swindle here, he was given a pretty unfair task of pinch hitting for someone who just fucking died, and likely because the episode was too far into production to scrap. I’m certainly hoping so because honestly.. I genuinely DON’T see why Pop Pop can’t just die with Fred. And look i’m not against replacing an actor when the worst happens: Russi Taylor’s roles all had to be replaced after her unfortunate passing, it’s not something i’m against normally... but the combination of pop pop being an older character they can write out and the fact they HAD AN ENITRE EPISODE ABOUT ACCEPTING HE WOULDNT’ LAST FOREVER, means that one comes off a bit hollow if you keep dragging him around. You’d get a good episode out of it, and this episode sets it up so that Myrtle has plenty of potetiail to stick around.
Anyway Lincoln’s problem is the OTHER applicant is Clyde’s Nana Gayle.. whose actually come up a few times before, some i’ve seen some I haven’t, a continuity nod i’m happy their following up on. They even explain why sh’es just appearing in person now as Clyde, when later snapping at lincoln, exclaims “You knew my dad’s have been trying to get her to move closer for a while now!” She’s Harold’s mom and a sweetheart.  So our heroes procede to try and bribe the board, both working at it but both end up finding each other at the opera. And this.. COULD have been intresting, putting the two best friends against each other for one thing neither can both have, and both have stake in it: Myrtle is as good as grandma to Lincoln by this point and Nana Gayle is VERY close to clyde, so this isn’t great. But since the guys they’ve been bribing arne’t the end authority, they have to go to who is: SCOOTS!
Tumblr media
As you can tell I love this old hellraiser.. and the fact she’s STILL seeing her younger boyfriend from “The Boss Maybe”. YOu get it scoots you get it. Naturally Scoots wants to see some blood, so she’s pitting both women against each other. Though neither grandma wants to do this so LIncoln and Clyde do the logical thing.. and dress up like each othe’rs grandmas, do the competition and get found out. Scoots disqulaifies both, the boys realize they were stupid and they go to apologize.
They instead find an easy solution to their problem!: Turns out Scoots as head had been hiding a double room behind a fake wall, to store both her scooters and her boyfriends motorcycle, so naturally now both grannies can move in as roomies while Scoot will just have to back her boyfriends hog into the single.. and I guess his motorbike too. The two grandmothers are instant friends, remdinng the boys fo each other and it’s.. really precious. Looks like I have yet another spinoff for the pile.
Final Thoughts: As I said this one was fine.. the Pop Pop subtistion was probably a grim neciesity, though swindle reallyd idn’t do a good job mimicking willar’ds voice and they REALLY just need to either find someone better to do the job, sound alike or no or retire the character. That tiny issue aside i’ts not bad.. it’s just not GREAT, and since we rarely see Clyde and Lincoln and GENUINE cross purposes, and last week just lying to him made clyde ill, this REALLY could’ve been intresting seeing the two go against each other and see what resutled from that. But that angle’s basically ignored and they make up pretty easily. IT’s just a wasted potetial of an episode.  All in all this was an allright week. Nothing outstanding episode wise but a few good bits here and there. wehnever I get back to the loud house, Lisa becomes a teacher and Leni runs for mayor. Until then, it’s been a pleasure.

Her (Scott McCall x Reader)
Resume: Being a born necromancer isn’t nearly as cool as being a werewolf of a banshee. Even being human is cooler than being able to raise the dead.
Words: 3604
Warning: Bref mention of suicide (very brief but still) details of eyes missing.
Note: There is a high possibility of being a second part to that, I just don’t know when so... I hope you’ll like it. (I do not own the gif.) -LcH. xxx

If you could blame your weird habits on someone, in particular, you’d name your father, without a shadow of hesitation. The reason for it was that he had been missing from your life since you were very young, and you were sure as hell that your mother couldn’t see the ghosts like you could. Partly because when you would wake up crying, she would assure you that it was only a nightmare. You did try to tell her that, no, the bloody grandma living in the ceiling really was there, next to your bed but to no avail. So your absent father was the only logical explanation for your condition. All the more so that Deacon had said it was hereditarian. Though, having your father in your life wouldn’t have made you the woman you were now from what you’ve heard.
You were born and raised in Beacon Hill, as was your mother. Single child after your father left home, she raised you well to be a kind girl with a vast curiosity for things. Your mother had been a close friend to Claudia Stilinski and her husband from Stiles and your’s playdates in kindergarten, she worked with Melissa McCall at the hospital, though your mother was a doctor, not a nurse. On top of everything, she went to school with Peter Hale and Chris Argent, hooking up for a brief instant with the first, Peter had told you that first hand after discovering your origin. Therefore, you were bound to know Scott and Stiles, even Lydia Martin, though your mom didn’t really like her mother.
While being friends with both Stiles and Scott meant many things, though it mostly said that you had to help patch-up the stuff they’d messed up, you were not considered as one of the troublemakers. More like their mother to be honest. Stiles tended to forget eating, because of that, you found yourself doomed to put food in all of your bags. Scott wasn't the most prepared teenager, so you were affording his lacks most of the time, such as helping him study five minutes before a test and what-not. Lydia sometimes needed to hear things that her mother couldn't tell her. So you did it for her. You went from a group of friends to another like a butterfly. Everyone in the school knew your name.
At first, Scott didn’t want you to be involved in all these supernatural problems. Up until Derek asked if your dad was (Y/D/N). Derek was the one to tell you what you really were. A necromancer. After that, your role as the mother of the group just became more evident. You would drive the gang around when it wasn’t Stiles who was doing it, more often then not, Derek asked you to talk with him about the matters with Scott and Peter, because you were spiritually his age. Now, was that a compliment or an insult, you didn’t know. Then Scott and Alisson broke up, and things started to get weird for everyone. Your dreams were more vivid, sometimes happening during class or when you were driving. Lydia was a Banshee, Isaac Lahey was turned by Scott, and Scott became Alpha.
He would, in the beginning, call you to take Isaac home. He usually called you when matters were starting to get out of hands.
After Alisson’s death, when Isaac left, you remember feeling empty, as if something was missing, and you could only imagine what was Scott's feeling and thus understanding why he didn't want Liam or Mason near any troubles was. It soon became a habit of yours to bring them back home, even if Scott didn’t ask you to. During the years, Scott or Stiles would call you from any places at ungodly hours in the night. You scolded them often about their lack of safety, especially if they got hurt that night. And you would always be the only one to talk about school night and homework and eating correctly. You liked being able to say: 'I told you so!'. Most of the time,' Scott would back you up on the safety talk every chance he had. He wasn't any better than they were in the matter of safety, well, in the concern of his safety anyways.
Could you blame him? Not really, he didn’t ask for it after all, but at the same time, he wasn’t really doing anything to help his case. After the bite and his change. Then Allison's death, the Alphas, and Derek going from and to God know were. With everything that was going on, you could only try to help your childhood friend. Unlike Stiles, you weren’t human. Thought, unlike Liam, Kira or Lydia, your powers were not so developed that you could actually be helpful. You couldn't even spell charms to save your life or scream to kill your opponent. Your bite wasn't poisonous, you couldn't control the electricity or a sword for that matter. On top of all, you didn't even own a baseball bat. All you could do was talk to the dead, and you didn't really like doing so.
At first, it was because of the meaning of profanity behind the rise of the dead. Later it became because of the dreams you had because of them, then because of Allison. Your dreams held on her rising from the dead for months. Scott was with Kira at that time, but it didn't stop him from answering all your calls at outrageous hours and come to your house for a night in. Melissa had bet twenty bucks with Stiles' father that you would end up together. Your mom already owed her fifteen.
Parents were not the only ones taking bets about the two of you. Since Scott and Kira's breakup, Lydia and Stiles had many playful fights about your romantic status. Liam had even nicknames your mom and was using this to name you instead of your real name every chance he got.
''Tell mom this.'' ''Did mom do that?'' ''Where's mom?''  He was worse than a child.
Today as Stiles, Lydia, Scott, and you were studying for a test, things were going smoothly. Liam was in class with Mason. Somehow, you had obtained what you had asked for so long: a time of peace and quiet. Well, the silence was approximative as it was on the school ground, but it was still a peaceful moment. In one of your ears was playing an instrumental song. In front of you, numerous sheets of notes were expending. You had taken the trick from Stiles, but your structures of notes were less messy than his.
''(Y/N)'' Scott's voice made you lift your head suddenly. ''Do you have the notes from last history class?''
As the four of you were studying for the Mathematics test, you found it odd that Scott would want the last notes in history. More so because you remembered him being present in class that day. 'Yeah, I do, here. But it won’t help you with math...'' Scott only chuckled as he took your notes, not answering your point.
After school that day, Scott was taking you home on his scooter. You didn't have for a habit of accepting getting on because of the idea of getting killed. But your mom had driven you to school in the morning, so you didn’t have your car, and you didn’t like taking the bus, so you agreed. When Scoot first started riding his bike, you would bicker about his deficit of headgear. He only had one, and you were at least 75% sure that it wasn’t the safest one he had found. Unfortunately for you, Scott now had another one, basically with your name on it. The grey mass slowly moving in the sky helped convinced you to ride back home with Scott; it would rain before you would arrive home on foot. Homework was beginning to drown you under their weight, the year was slowly starting to end, and you could literally feel it. Melissa was working the night shift, and your mother was doing a double shift tonight.
Melissa was still home when you arrive at Scott’s, getting ready to leave. It wasn’t unusual for you to spend the night at the McCall’s or vice versa. She smiled at you before running back to her room.
''Lunch is in the oven.''  She called from upstairs ''Don't let it burn, please.''
''Mom, I won't!'' Scott responded, making his way toward the kitchen table, bringing you with him as he did. He let his schoolbag slide on the table, and you sat down next to him. Melissa came down to the kitchen and kissed her son's forehead. She then proceeded to kiss your hair as well. She grabbed her keys and left, but not before shouting her last goodbye for the night.
''You two have a good time studying!''
''Bye, Melissa!'' You shouted back before the door closed. The house fell silent, finally. As you turned to focus on your homework -you had them out of your bag as soon as you reached the table- but Scott’s eyes were on you. ''What?''
''Nothing, what do you want to start with?'' He questioned. Lifting your shoulders up, you just gestured toward the pile of books before you vaguely.
It was maybe an hour or so later, Scott and you had half-eaten your dinner now, still doing homework when your phone started to buzz like crazy. Calls and texts were harassing you fro every one of your friends as if the world was ending. But all of them were for the very same thing.
'Hey, have you seen Scott? He doesn't answer his phone!!' From Stiles.
'Can you tell Scott to look at his phone? Stiles’ starting to be very annoying.' From Lydia.
'Is Scott with you? We need him A.S.A.P.' From Kira.
'Hey, Mom, could you text Scott? We've been trying to contact him for a while, but he doesn't answer.' From Liam.
‘Need Scott, hes with you?’ From Malia.
As more text flowed in, you signed. You shoulder felted like iron bars as you let them dropped a little. Your heart was racing. What was it this time? Another Deadpool? A Nogitsune roaming free in town? A werewolf without a pack but surprisingly much more robust than it should be? Was it a witch wanting the power of a mythological tree again? You raised your eyes to Scott's.
''Look at your phone. You've been popular this evening.'' He seemed surprised, his brow nearly raising to the top of his head as he took out his telephone from his pocket. At the same time, Mason had managed to call you, and Scott's phone too was ringing. You answered your phone with a sigh as the boy next to you showed you the caller ID.
‘’Hey, Mom!’’ exclaimed Mason, seemingly relieved that you answer this time.
''Hey, Mason. Tell Stiles to stop calling, Scott’s right next to me.''
''Oh, okay, I’ll tell him!’’ there was a pause. ‘’Stiles! I’ve got (Y/N) on the phone, Scott’s with her!'' Mason's voice called, he echoed your message to what seemed to be Stiles. The ringtone of Scott's phone stopped a second later.
''What is it?'' Scott moved his hand, and you put your phone on speaker.
The words were coming out of the engine as if there was some distance between Stiles and Mason's phone, but you could still distinctly hear what he was saying. ''I should have called her, they're always together.'' Scott scoffed, Stiles' voice came in much more clearly.
'' Hey, you two! Uh, we're kinda having difficulties? I mean, you should really come to see this. It’s nothing like we’ve seen before...'' His tone seemed odd to you like he was trying to make it look less of a big deal than it really was.
''What do you mean?'' Scott asked. You took the now empty plates back to the sink int the kitchen. Scott was old enough to understand Stiles on his own anyway. And you didn’t mind missing half of the conversation anyway, you would follow him to where the others were having trouble anyway. It was always like that. And if you were to go out, who knew what time it would be when you arrive
to sleep, and in no way would you want to have to clean if that happened, so the plates were going in the sink now before it was too late.
As you let the water clean most of the stain of the food from the ceramic, you felt a cold breeze hit your skin tenderly. Your heart started to race. It was the first time a ghost appeared at Scott’s house. You slowly turned, trying with all of your might to make it seem as if you couldn’t see them. The man was standing tall behind you, his face was partially hidden by a shadow and blood was spotting on his clothes. You downed your eyes. Making it look as if you couldn’t see him at all. Clearing your throat, you called for Scott but heard nothing back. The sounds were slowly fading out, you knew what was going on but refused to accept it. Going into your little necromancer mind place wasn't really as attractive as it sounded. Your heart was racing, and your mind was running for anything that would anchor you to reality. Your breath was coming in short and leaving before it could have done his job to help the blood run through your veins. The man took a step to be closer to you.
His mouth opened, but it wasn’t words that came out of it. It sounded like wailing and a grunt at the same time. It was as if broadcast was continually cut off then switched on again. You figured that it was too late to ignore him anymore, so you looked at him the eyes. But there were no eyes to look at, only bloody holes oozing a black liquid out of them. The man was holding his hands high as if he wanted to grasp your shoulder. You closed your eyes, unable to move, your heart was racing, and you felt sick, the dinner in the back of your throat threatening to spill if you looked at the man any longer. You were ready to handle the ice-cold touch of the dead on you, but instead of it on your shoulders were hot and desperate hands that ended on your face.
“(Y/N)!”
You gasped for the air you had forgotten to inhale, your eyes wide open now. Disoriented -the waving of the furniture before your eyes weren't helping either- you soon realized that it was Scott's hand on your face, gently tracing patterns on your cheek to comfort you. Also, you were not standing in his kitchen anymore, you were laying on its floor. The fresh feeling that was the ceramic tiles on your neck was recomforting enough, you didn’t feel like vomiting anymore.
With some difficulties, you managed to sit up, Scott was all over you asking if you were okay. ''Yeah, I think so.'' Your head was turning as if you were sitting in a boat, but you didn’t have the seasickness that usually occurred when you were in a boat.
''What did Stiles want to talk about?'' you asked, trying to distract yourself from the memory of the eyeless man.
Scott hesitated a moment before telling you. ''Lydia found another body.'' His statement sent shivers down your spine, you felt nauseous. Through your shirt, you could see the frequency of your heartbeat.
''Do you want me to come with you?'' You asked. Scott looked at you as if he didn't want you to come. Even so, you ignored it and, with his help, rose on your feet. ''Liam and Mason didn't go home today, so they'll be hungry. Stiles will, too, because he's him. Maybe we should also bring covers? It's cold outside and-''
''(Y/N)'' Scott cut your ranting by setting his hand on your arm to prevent you from leaving the kitchen. ''Maybe you should just rest? I could call my mom too. You were unconscious on my kitchen's floor.''
''I'm fine now.'' You shrugged, trying to play it cool. He didn't look assured. When he still didn't let go, you huffed. ''Scott, can we just go?'' He sighed but compelled to your request. He left the room after placing a kiss on the crown of your hair. Borrowing a hoodie from his collection, you trailed after him, arms full of food and covers.
Lydia wasn't as shaken as she was the first few time she found dead people. However, she did take the blanket you were proposing to her. Liam was happily eating the pizza you had brought him while Mason was explaining in detail all of the things you had missed. Scott was talking about it with Stiles, Malia and Lydia on his side.
''- and then Lydia stopped moving and just took a deep inspiration and then started to scream!'' You nodded slowly. Since your arrival, you hadn't looked at the body that was lying there. Too scared to watch, no, you felt disgusted more than scared. The little you had seen of the body was close to the spectre you had encountered in Scott's house.
It was crazy to think that the man had been able to overpass your magical defences just to meet you. You weren't a defenceless child anymore like you were when Peter first came back. You understood your power much more now, but that was not something you've been able to explain to yourself. Mason was still ranting about how awesome it had been when Lydia screamed and brought them to the body when you cut him.
''It's late, boys. Didn't you had homework to do?''
Liam looked at you with pleading eyes, and Mason lowered his head.
''Seriously, guys! You need to stop that. School is important for your future, even if you don't like it.'' You had tried to level with them many times. You even talked about it with Isaac when Derek couldn't handle him, so he had to live with Scott. Liam lowered his eyes to the ground.
''Scott does it-'' You stopped him before he could finish his sentence.
''Scott took his responsibilities in hands. He tries his best to have good grades and does every single one of his homework. He didn't ask to become the Alpha, Liam.'' You took a breath before starting to talk once again, but with much less energy. ''While you don't have such responsibilities, try to take advantage of it. Plus, your mom will be worried if you don't go back home soon. I won’t cover for you his time.''
You and Mrs. Dumbar had made an agreement when Liam started to pass more and more time with Scott’s pack, you would take care of him. Unbeknown to her, you also made an agreement with Liam so that when he didn’t feel like going home, you’d cover for him saying he was staying at your house or that the gang was having a sleepover somewhere.
You turned your back from the boys but soon realized your mistake when the shadow you thought you had left behind came back in front of you. Your blood ran cold once more, and your head started to spin again. You closed your eyes. 'Go away, leave me alone.' You thought.
''(Y/N)?'' Malia's voice sounded so far away that you had difficulties hearing it. You opened your eyes. The ghost was nowhere to be seen, Malia was standing in his place. You smiled in her direction. ''Are you okay?''
''Of course.'' She looked at you with anxiety. You felt forced to continue. '' I just thought that I don't have my car. So I can't drive Liam and Mason home.''
''But-'' tried to intervene the two youngest only to find themselves being cut short.
''No, buts, you have homework to do and a future to plan.''
Scott made a movement with his head, and Stiles started to make his way toward his Jeep. ''C'mon, boys. Tomorrow will come in way too early anyway.'' Lydia sighed and followed him. She was holding Malia by her arm to make her walk too.  Scott pushed Liam in the back to make him move in the direction of Stiles' car.
''I'll call my dad, you two better leave,'' Stiles called after starting his vehicle. Scott waved his hand.
''We will.'' He then looked at you, brow knitted in worry. ''You saw him?''
''Saw who?'' You tried to play it dumb. He didn't need to worry about you over everything there was for him to worry about.
''The man, (Y/N). Did you see him?'' His tone was not the one you could just ignore. He was worried and would become angry if you played it dumb again.
''Yes, from what I saw, it could have been him.''
''Did you saw him at my house too?''
How come he could know such things, he wasn,t even trying. You couldn’t get the words out of your mouth, it was as if your tongue had stopped working, so you nodded instead. The man was standing in front of your eyes. Your breath caught in your throat. ''I don't want to see him, Scott.'' You succeeded to choke out. ''He standing there, and he won't go away! ''
Scott's hand met your arm and brought you in a warm hug.  ''Let's go home, we'll talk about it there.'' You nodded, closing your eyes.

For the week of 11 November 2019
Quick Bits:
Batman & The Outsiders #7 throws some further ramifications of Ra’s al Ghul and his minions meddling with Duke and Sofia. Some particularly disturbing transformations going on with Duke that should be interesting. The level of intrigue that Bryan Hill is keeping in the story is gripping.

The Batman’s Grave #2 is another excellent issue. A little more packed with action than the first one, allowing Bryan Hitch to cut loose with some of the sequences. Also, I’m loving the humour that Warren Ellis is giving us between Alfred and Bruce. That acerbic wit is something we’ve seen from Alfred a lot and Ellis just nails the voice.

Tumblr media
Battlepug #3 is more fun from Mike Norton, Allen Passalaqua, and Crank! Some really nice stuff here as Bryony cuts loose on Nobody’s Ponies. I absolutely love the mix of traditional sword and sorcery storytelling with rather over-the-top humour that basically lampoons it at the same time.

Black Cat Annual #1 is a fun tale of a heist on the Maggia by Black Cat and Spider-Man from Jed MacKay, Joey Vazquez, Natacha Bustos, Juan Gedeon, Brian Reber, and Ferran Delgado. It features the usual humour and action that we see in the series and I quite like how the artists are broken up each following one particular aspect of the story. Though it’s all one narrative, it gives a nice differing feel to each part.

Black Hammer / Justice League: Hammer of Justice #5 concludes what has been an excellent series from Jeff Lemire, Michael Walsh, and Nate Piekos. Ultimately, this has reminded me of the old JLA/JSA crossovers of old, and just feels great as an overall story. Plus the possibility of seeing a sequel.

Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda #3 begins “God Loves, Moon Kills”, another two-parter for this series, from Jim Zub, Lan Medina, Craig Yeung, Marcio Menyz, Federico Blee, and Joe Sabino. I love this story format, giving us essentially quick-hit missions dealing with a problem and then moving on. It’s yielded some pretty tight storytelling and some fascinating situations.

Black Stars Above #1 is another incredible debut for Vault, with Lonnie Nadler, Jenna Cha, Brad Simpson, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou delivering an incredibly deep and unique horror story. It centres around a young woman in a family of fur traders, as the trade itself begins to die in Canada, and it’s impressive as to how real the characters and their struggle feels. The artwork from Cha and Simpson is exquisite.

Buffy + Angel: Hellmouth #2 continues Buffy and Angel’s descent through hell. It’s much more cerebral than you’d expect, with the demons trying to get into Buffy and Angel’s respective heads in order to manipulate and destroy them. Plus, a rather interesting surprise. Jordie Bellaire, Jeremy Lambert, Eleonora Carlini, Cris Peter, and Ed Dukeshire are doing some great work with the core of this event.

Collapser #5 somehow gets even stranger in this penultimate issue as Liam creates a “perfect” world to run away from the problems he’s having in the real world. The real world bleeding through and a revelation of his girlfriend’s true intentions just ratchet up the strangeness further. Mikey Way, Shaun Simon, Ilias Kyriazis, Cris Peter, and Simon Bowland are just doing amazing work here.

Detective Comics #1015 takes an interesting turn as Nora decides that she likes being a villain. Through this, Peter J. Tomasi is definitely showing an interesting side to Mr. Freeze, emphasizing again that he’s a rather conflicted villain, only doing the various heinous actions to save his wife. Who now doesn’t need him.

Doctor Mirage #4 features more incredibly beautiful, inventive artwork from Nick Robles and Jordie Bellaire. The visual storytelling as Shan faces the Embalmer is just incredible. Magdalene Visaggio, Robles, Bellaire, and Dave Sharpe continue to deliver magic with this penultimate issue.

Tumblr media
Edgar Allan Poe’s Snifter of Terror: Season Two #2 is another entertaining issue. The lead tale from Tom Peyer, Greg Scott, Lee Loughridge, and Rob Steen has traditional EC Comics horror vibes, as a scientist tries to communicate with our worm overlords. In one of the comics back-ups Mark Russell, Peter Snejbjerg, and Steen revisit the world of the breakfast cereal monsters. And there’s the usual prose pieces, poetry, and Hunt Emerson’s Black Cat.

Event Leviathan #6 concludes this series from Brian Michael Bendis, Alex Maleev, and Josh Reed. How much you enjoy it will hinge on how much you enjoy Maleev’s art and the realization that most of this tale is about moving one person off the board and the reveal of Leviathan to set up further stories. Also, Bendis paints a Batman who is ridiculously terrible at hiding his secret identity.

Fallen Angels #1 is the final new first issue of this first wave of “Dawn of X” titles and in many ways it’s more personal than the other X-titles, even Excalibur, delving into Psylocke (the former Kwannon, not Betsy Braddock) and her past. Bryan Hill, Szymon Kudranski, Frank D’Armata, and Joe Sabino deliver an interesting story with hooks on the darker side of the X-world, including some ominous bits from Magneto and Sinister, but I question the inclusion of X-23 and Cable. They don’t exactly seem to fit the roles they’ve been put into here.

Family Tree #1 is a phenomenal debut from Jeff Lemire, Phil Hester, Eric Gapstur, Ryan Cody, and Steve Wands. This first issue perfectly captures that insidious nature of family drama mixed with creeping terror and body horror as a bizarre plague begins spreading across America.

Far Sector #1 is one of the most impressive debuts I’ve read in a long time. NK Jemisin, Jamal Campbell, and Deron Bennett create a rich new world in the City Enduring and a compelling character in the new Green Lantern, Sojourner Mullein. The murder mystery that ties everything together is just the icing on the cake. Incredible world-building here and drop dead gorgeous artwork. Do not miss this.

The Flash #82 is part one of “Rogues’ Reign” from Joshua Williamson, Rafa Sandoval, Jordi Tarragona, Arif Prianto, and Steve Wands. It features a Central City taken over by the Rogues, transformed into their own personal playgrounds, as the Flash is nowhere to be found. It’s not bad, but the amount you’re going to like it may be relative to how much you’re also enjoying “City of Bane” and the recently concluded similar arc involving the Trickster.

Folklords #1 is off to a fantastic start from Matt Kindt, Matt Smith, Chris O’Halloran, and Jim Campbell. It starts off with a precocious kid in a fantasy world who’s been having visions of what essentially amounts to our world, whose quest sets out a rather draconian lockdown on their society when the Librarians rein in everyone from illicit action, like finding the Folklords. Highly recommended.

Forgotten Home #2 reveals more about Jannada, its history and society, and how an unjust queen was brought to rule through racial warfare. Love the artwork from Marika Cresta and Matt Emmons.

Gideon Falls #18 unleashes the Laughing Man on reality in part two of “The Pentoculus”. Jeff Lemire, Andrea Sorrentino, Dave Stewart, and Steve Wands are beautifully unfolding this twisted and horrific flower of a story.

Gotham City Monsters #3 adds another element of DC lore to the series as Melmoth claims a particular prize. I really quite like how Steve Orlando, Amancay Nahuelpan, Trish Mulvihill, and Tom Napolitano are pulling together disparate bits of Gotham and beyond to craft this story.

Guardians of the Galaxy #11 is the penultimate issue of this series from Donny Cate, Cory Smith, Victor Olazaba, David Curiel, and Cory Petit. It’s basically a big fight between the remaining Guardians and everyone else. It doesn’t go so well.

Hawkman #18 takes a somewhat different approach to Hawkman’s infection than what we’ve seen of the others so far. Rather than being a dark reflection of Hawkman’s own desires, he’s taken over by an Earth-3 incarnation in Sky Tyrant. Robert Venditti, Pat Olliffe, Tom Palmer, Jeremiah Skipper, and Richard Starkings & Comicraft instead use that to play the spirit of our Hawkman against.

Hit-Girl: Season Two #10 is part two of “India”. The artwork from Alison Sampson and Tríona Farrell is impressive, given an amazing level of detail to bringing Mumbai to life. Brutal and rich in colour.

House of Whispers #15 takes a new twist as the Corinthian finds the House of Watchers, takes over, and everything changes. Nalo Hopkinson, Dan Watters, Dominike “Dono” Stanton, Zac Atkinson, and AndWorld Design kick off some new terrors as even Erzulie’s status quo is upended, and we get another guest appearance of John Constantine’s homecoming.

Invaders #11 pushes deeper into Steve and Namor’s history and relationship, as Steve refuses to give up on his old friend. There’s some very heavy, very good character work here as we head into the final issue. Chip Zdarsky, Carlos Magno, Butch Guice, Alex Guimarães, and Travis Lanham continue to astonish at the incredibly high bar they’ve set for this story.

Tumblr media
Justice League Odyssey #15 is a fun tale from Dan Abnett, Will Conrad, Rain Beredo, Pete Pantazis, and AndWorld Design. Jessica Cruz leading a rag tag band of villains (and Orion) against Darkseid and the previous JLO turned evil is unfolding as a very entertaining story with some interesting twists. Also, Dex-Starr is awesome.

Morbius #1 isn’t a bad start from Vita Ayala, Marcelo Ferreira, Roberto Poggi, Dono Sánchez-Almara, and Clayton Cowles. This first issue is largely just action as Morbius sets out on his quest to cure himself, again, but it’s not bad. The art from Ferreira, Poggi, and Sánchez-Almara is very nice.

Oblivion Song #21 continues the slowburn investigation and reconnaissance of the Faceless Men’s base, as Marco tries to map it out and discover where they’re holding all of the people who decided to stay in Oblivion. Gorgeous artwork from Lorenzo De Felici and Annalisa Leoni as we see more of the Faceless Men’s technology.

Psi-Lords #6 does a bit more world-building as we find out more about the Psi-Lords and the Starwatchers, even as the four Earthers are beset by the other Marked in a bizarre farce of a trial. Fred Van Lente, Renato Guedes, and Dave Sharpe are telling a pretty great sci-fi adventure tale here. It largely stands alone in the greater Valiant universe framework and deserves more attention than its getting.

Punisher: Soviet #1 is another welcome return to the Punisher by Garth Ennis, stepping back into Frank’s adventures like he never left. Ennis, Jacen Burrows, Guillermo Ortego, Nolan Woodard, and Rob Steen deliver a brutal and bloody beginning as Frank chases down someone who everyone seems to think is him.
| Published by Marvel / MAX
Tumblr media
Reaver #5 is a fairly impressive spotlight for Breaker as he does what he really didn’t want to do again in order to help his “friends”. Justin Jordan, Rebekah Isaacs, Alex Guimarães, and Clayton Cowles present a number of twists and surprises in one of the most brutal issues yet.
| Published by Image / Skybound

Ronin Island #8 sees the remaining islanders largely stand together as they try to both stand up to and flee from the Shogun’s soldiers and madness. With a terrible occurrence that looks like it’s going to cause even more problems for the survivors. Giannis Milonogiannis and Irma Kniivila’s art continues to be everything.
| Published by BOOM! Studios

Sea of Stars #5 very nicely puts the pieces together as a disconsolate Gil has been captured and basically given up thinking Kadyn dead is brought to the world where his son is about to be gutted. Jason Aaron, Dennis Hallum, Stephen Green, Rico Renzi, and Jared K. Fletcher are telling an incredible story here and this issue throws even more twists at the reader.

Seven Days #2 unfolds some of the fallout of people learning that they only have seven days left, as the superhero community is enlisted to try to stop whatever the shiny harbinger things are. Gail Simone, José Luís, Jonas Trinidade, Michelle Madsen, and Saida Temofonte are continuing to build an intriguing story here as we get more and more of the breadth of the Catalyst Prime universe.

Superman #17 is kind of a housekeeping issue from Brian Michael Bendis, Kevin Maguire, Paul Mounts, and Dave Sharpe, acting as a prologue to “The Truth”. A bit of reflection on the Unity Saga, Event Leviathan, and Year of the Villain.

Tales from the Dark Multiverse: Blackest Night #1 might well be the best of these one-shots yet. Tim Seeley, Kyle Hotz, Dexter Vines, Walden Wong, Danny Miki, David Baron, Allen Passalaqua, and Tom Napolitano give us a bleak look at a world where Sinestro chose not to share the power of the White Lantern light and essentially everything fell to Nekron and the Black Lanterns. It’s a very unique take on the zombie apocalypse on its own, made more interesting as a fallen Sinestro, Lobo, and Dove try to save this universe. The art from Hotz, Vines, Wong, Miki, Baron, and Passalaqua is perfect.

Trees: Three Fates #3 continues to build up the weird atmosphere from last issue, then turns around and focuses on more of the gritty aspects of Oleg, Mik, and Nina. Gorgeous artwork all throughout from Jason Howard and Dee Cunniffe.

Triage #3 shifts to Commander Marco’s reality as the group flee from the Hunter. I really like what Phillip Sevy and Frank Cvetkovic have been doing with this story. Great high concept, but the interpersonal relationships are where it’s really at.

Usagi Yojimbo #6 is a beautiful updating and embellishment of the very first story of Usagi from Albedo by Stan Sakai and Tom Luth. This single issue story really captures the spirit and magic of all of Sakai’s stories, wonderfully portraying his mix of action and folklore.

Vampirella/Red Sonja #3 explores more of what the Russians were doing in regards to Drakulon and more. More very nice humour from Jordie Bellaire in the interactions between Vampirella and Sonja.

Wonder Woman #82 begins “The Wild Hunt” from the new creative team of Steve Orlando, Kieran McKeown, Scott Hanna, Romulo Fajardo Jr., and Pat Brosseau. It very much continues on from the plot threads and elements of the previous run, continuing to build on the current conflict between Wonder Woman and Cheetah.

X-Men #2 is pretty damn great, going back to the big and wild ideas bringing new elements into the X-universe, all while Cyclops gives some of the strangest parenting. Jonathan Hickman, Leinil Francis Yu, Garry Alanguilan, Sunny Gho, and Clayton Cowles give us a new mystery with the arrival of Arakko and the first of -|A|-’s missing original horsemen.
