Scientific terms became Theo's poetry and any kind of curiosity and intrigue was solely wrapped in his own body. THEO APPRECIATION WEEK

day 4 — lyrics/quotes

first to arrive, last to leave, what’s misery without company, it’s hard to laugh when it’s hard to breathe, it’s white outside but red underneath

a little awkward, considering i’ve been doing lyrics every day. but . . . this song. oooh, this song. go listen to it if you haven’t. i heard it for the first time a few weeks ago and it changed the trajectory of my life. so of course i had to apply it to theo.

i’m getting suuuch season 6 (especially 6b) theo vibes from this song. i actually just rewatched 6x12 last night so i know what i’m talking about here. like let’s start with our edit.

i’ll make it through the winter if it kills me <— i don’t actually know what season it is here but i’m assuming not winter if it’s almost back-to-school season. but he does wear clothes meant for the cold, so my texan ass can’t relate. but the season doesn’t matter. look at it like “i’ll make it through THIS if it kills me” and THIS is being homeless, having no one in his life, trying to be good but being treated like shit, etc etc etc

i can make it faster if i hurry <— this one, in my mind, is just him grinning and bearing it. not turning to anyone for help. if he just grits his teeth and suffers through this, maybe it’ll hurry.

i’ll angel in the snow until i’m worthy <— this breaks me. this with him considering calling scott, his truck parked on the train tracks. is he worthy? is he worthy of help? is he worthy of calling scott and telling him what happened? obviously we think so, but he clearly doesn’t since he never made that call.

and then:

smiles hide what secrets keep

can’t tell a lie if you never speak

look in the mirror, she looks like me

but half alive and twice as weak

i can imagine theo feeling like this post-hell. looking in the mirror and not recognizing himself.

but if it kills me i tried

if it kills me, i tried so hard

just . . . everything he does in 6b. every time he helps. every time he saves liam’s life. when he took gabe’s pain. he’s *trying*

the seasons change, addictions strange

i loved back then what i hate today

i wish i went a different way

but if i went back, i would do the same

i can’t even . . . i can’t even be coherent about this part. especially the last two verses here. he wishes he’d done things differently. maybe he wouldn’t be in this situation if he had. but he knows, knows he’d do the same. after all, what choice had he had?

ANYWAY, i hope, as always, you enjoyed my long ramble about THEE theo raeken. my inbox is always open if anyone wants to chat about him and either agree or disagree with my interpretations!

1. SINO BA ANG SINUNGALING? — who is the liar?

this could also be interpreted as, "who here is the liar?"

2. TUMINGIN SA SALAMIN — look in the mirror

direct translation :)

3. SINUNGALING KA NGA — you're a liar

this could be interpreted as either someone saying this to the sinungaling (liar) or them saying it to themselves in the mirror, could also be translated as "you are a liar" like someone's made a revelation

4. NAGAWA MO PA MAGSALITA — yet you still speak

okay admittedly this is a rocky translation, my interpretation at best. this could say "and you're still speaking" or "and [why] are you still speaking" i embellished it a little bit for vibes

5. NAGAWA MO PA MANDAMAY NG IBA — you framed another still

okay this is. okay so mandamay is a really hard word to translate, since it means "to bring others down with you" it's kinda like to associate someone with you but it's not implied it's like. that's what happened and it was bad. added the chimera pack bc !!!!!! starts crying

6. SINUNGALING — liar

direct translation! :D

7. MAPAGLIHIM — secret-keeper

here's another hard one, since it kinda means "secretive," but like. not really but also yes if that makes sense. secretive is a direct translation, but in a roundabout manner. changed the wording a bit to fit the context again :)

8. MAY DALAWANG MUKHA — the one with two faces

this phrase is actually directly translated as "had two faces", since a lot of tagalog sentences can be created without the use of a possessive or a narrator, which makes it pretty tricky language to translate. again, just me making it fit the context !

9. SINUNGALING NA NGA — he's a liar

direct: "[you/he/she/they are/is] a liar", fitting the context !

10. NANIWALA KA PA DIYAN? — you still believed him?

direct translation! (with the added him pronoun, since again this is another sentence without a specification as to who the narrator is talking to and about)
