Have you seen this? The delusions are unending. Why does the femme Crowley look nothing like old man David Tennent? They made his nose smaller, he looks younger, none of his actual features. Where the hell did they get this image of him in their heads?

Honestly it’s funny just at face value. I think we were all expecting another cool Golgotha or Mesopotamia type look, and were a bit surprised to see some giant cotton ball beard.

But it’s clear the artist, as with much of the fandom, completely forgot what Crowley actually looks like. Because the “what I receive” image is pretty accurate to what he’s always looked like. We’ve never seen him look like the “what I expected” side—which looks like a young female Hollywood starlet type judging by the poses.

I’m pretty sure what happened, is that the fandom collectively spent 4 years engaging with more fan work than the actual content that work is based on. Which is great and normal, because when you only have 6 episodes and no season 2 in sight but want more content, obviously fanmade content is the place to go. The issue is that plenty of that content became less about the show, and more about people’s idea of what they wanted the show to be, as time went on. Look at all the art of a 20 something Crowley vogueing in lingerie, for example. That’s…not him. But it’s what people want him to be, so that’s what they created and consumed. Same with pretty laydee Crowley and big tough manly Aziraphale.

So imagine you’ve grown accustomed to the fan-version of these characters. You go into season 2 expecting tiny young femme Crowley, and get David Tennant. That’s a shock. And it’s hilarious to those of us who’ve been enjoying these characters just as they are the whole time.

Last thing about POOR THINGS, if you are satirizing something like female exploitation, people should never able about to jerk off to your satire.
