okay but do y'all remember how in ep 4 Tin asked Thee "How much does that kid (Thanthai) pay you? Must be a lot." and Thee said "A packed meal. That's already impossible to pay back." And in this episode we saw the flashback of Thanthai giving Thee the food!!
I am crying over these two :(((

Thee looks at Tanthai like he can see right through his emptiness and into the hurt he can't escape that leaves him in such pain he can't even feel it anymore and Tanthai looks at Thee like he's terrified of what this might mean because he can't feel anything but knows the feelings are pounding at the door of his mind.
Tumblr media
And then we go back to the night of the crime and we see how Thee has the same look and Tanthai is even more like a caged animal trying to escape, hurt and angry all the time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tanthai surrounded by people who are drinking with him because of his father's money and so drunk and lashing out and angry at his father but paying for everyone around him and then Thee. Thee who is also paid by his father but is there for him and takes him away before he hurts himself more.
It's such a good dynamic and I like it even more because most of the spoiled princes we've gotten lately just haven't actually been that spoiled. They've all been Good Boys who are Also A Bit Spoiled. But Tanthai is an asshole because he's been spoiled and abused at the same time and I love it. @absolutebl It's not quite whipping boy since Thee doesn't take punishments but it's also past the usual spoiled princes we've been seeing and I love it here.
I love the asshole who is one because of trauma and abuse because it's not an excuse or an explanation but it is part of him and to see him loved nonetheless, to see him being taken care of by someone who loves him even knowing how much of an asshole he is. Thee knows exactly who Tanthai is and he still looks at him like that.

They grew up together. They've been together long enough to have played with the gardener when they were young. Thee still thinks of a packed lunch as something he will never be able to repay him. Thee has obviously watched Tanthai be pushed to the place he is now, watched him go from someone who changed a fellow child's life with a packed lunch and played with the gardener to an abused, damaged and lashing out young man who is simply so hurt he feels empty.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thee cannot ever pay back a packed lunch but he also can't run with him. Because running with him risks losing him forever. If they run together and get caught, what happens? They lose. They lose everything, even this painful time together and even Tanthai's anger and drinking and pain. Thee would be gone and he'd be unable to be any kind of presence, to check on him, to look at him and be there to try to defend him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I think the most painful part is that Tanthai desperately seeks out comfort from Thee that he can only ever half get, that Thee cannot give him the comfort he wants both because of the chains on them from his father and because Tanthai has been too hurt to accept what Thee feels he can offer. And the half-measures of comfort only hurt more in the end and so Tanthai hurts Thee to try to stop the pain, hurts everyone around him to try to stop his own pain.
(Tanthai would fall over if Thee just pulled him into a hug and didn't get go when he started to protest but Thee can't do that because he is the servant, he is the one below him, he has no power and Tanthai tries to wear his golden chains as power the best he can.)
Tanthai is as absolute asshole and constantly getting himself in trouble to prove the point his father is constantly making. If what he does doesn't matter than he might as well just do the worst things possible because at least it gets him something. And Thee is always there. Thee never leaves.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
That's why the preview for next week hurt so much. Because Tanthai believing that Thee would leave him if he wasn't being paid is the ultimate proof of how much he's been hurt. He's screaming out for any kind of reassurance and this time Thee has to give him something.
Tumblr media
Thee has never repaid that packed lunch. Thee has never forgotten them playing together. Thee has never left Tanthai's side. Thee is the last and frayed link Tanthai has to his humanity and Thee cannot let that link break. Or he will lose the person he loves the most, the person he owes the most.
Tumblr media
The history between them, that we know so little about, is the key to what really happened that night and Thee is the only one who can truly tell us what happened... and he will have to do it to protect Tanthai.

It's the way they look and don't touch and when they do touch it's nothing like what they want and it's the pain that bleeds off both of them, the pain of emptiness and the pain of love and the way they're trapped together, cages and chains, gold and iron, one wanting to escape through death and the other holding onto him too tight to keep them together knowing that anything less may set them apart forever.

Thee, my darling, please do something for the man you love. We all know how much you care. But if you keep hiding behind your own fears and your own worries about this so you can be there for him and with him the way he needs you to be. I get how scary that is and can be but sometimes you need to do something you're afraid of to accomplish anything or to show him you care.
Tanthai cannot see how much you care without action. He is trapped in his own nightmare and he needs you. Please, at least try. You know he's hurting and you know he's innocent, you know you can something so please do. He is screaming out for anything from you and you're too afraid to give it. What are you so scared of? I thought it was separation but now I'm wondering if it's something more or bigger.
Because Thee talked about being in his debt forever because of a packed lunch and they obviously grew up together and there is some reason that Thee is so scared to comfort Tanthai, so scared to be there for him actively. What is there that we don't know?

Thee is running out of arguments. For all that he fears losing Tanthai by trying to run with him, by earning the wrath of his father, he sees that the man he loves is starting to break and he cannot let him give up. Thee has been trying to protect the little he feels they can have but is realizing that the threat is bigger than he thought.
And he is going to try to save Tanthai and he is going to lose what little they have trying to save him, isn't he? Because he is the only one who can rescue him but he cannot rescue him without also betraying his father.

The tears in his voice. The way he's so close to cracking. The way he stares at him. Tanthai has never had anyone on his side because everyone around him works for his father and Thee is so close and yet so far and he has to know. He has to try. Tanthai is trapped on every level, desperately seeking anything that will let him know that there is anyone who cares for him in this world.
And he's met with nothing.
Tumblr media
Thee has only one answer he can give to insure that he is allowed to still be with Tanthai, to be the one to protect him. Because if he disobeys, he won't be there anymore. He can't be on Tanthai's side because being on his side means not being at his side.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And there's just no way to explain that to Tanthai because he wouldn't understand. He is who his father has shaped him to be, spoiled and hurt and broken and lashing out, an abuse victim in a gilded cage that the world envies but that tears him apart.
Thee is on his side but if he disobeys he won't be able to be there beside him at all and Tanthai might think they can escape but Thee knows the real power of his father and the real danger he has of being forced out of Tanthai's life.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Thee looks at Tanthai like he can see the golden chains holding him back but knows that he can't label them for fear of breaking him even more.

It's all about the eyes. How Tanthai looks at Thee and walks to him and how Thee stares back the entire time. They are both bleeding out their with desperation but they are chained and caged and there is no escape for them together.
Thee, can you take me away from here? I don't want to stay here anymore.
Mr. Thatthep won't let you go anywhere.
You work for my dad. You're paid by him. Naturally, you should listen to him.
Thee, I thought you were on my side.
Tumblr media
Thee is doing his best to be on Tanthai's side but the only way to do that is to be at his side and the only way to be there is to keep obeying his father because if he disobeys, he can be taken away. He could leave Tanthai alone. And that... that is unimaginable.
Trapped in this cage of abuse and agony, Tanthai is seeking any escape but Thee is just trying to be sure they survive so they can be together as best they can be, however that might look.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tanthai is giving up the fight that has been his entire life but Thee is fighting to keep him at his side, to fight the emptiness that threatens his young master the best he can. He bleeds that love from his eyes that Tanthai cannot even begin to feel.

This entire scene is so masterful and so perfect for these two. For Tanthai who is constantly lashing out from fear and pain and rejection and Thee who is just trying to be at his side in a position where he could be fired at any moment and must both obey his boss and try to be there in the aftermath for the young master he loves.
Tanthai truly sees no way out of his chains and cage besides death. He is as prepared as anyone can be to simply die at the hands of his father. He wants to trust Thee and believe in an escape but Thee isn't giving him any hope of a way out and so he has given up.
This is especially powerful after his father told him to simply turn himself in, to go to jail, to trade the gilded chains and cage for a real one. Tanthai sees no way out of this. He has no escape. He has no choices. He can't walk out the door, there are too many guards who simply wouldn't let him. He can't change his path, he's stuck in a position that leaves him with nothing but jail or death.
And this is why I think he didn't actually do what he's being accused of and why I think the true person to blame from Tonkhao's death is his father. Which is why the stuffed dog is so important. There's some kind of evidence there.
But yes. I love them so much. Tanthai is viscous, a trapped and abused animal who will hurt anyone if it takes away just a bit of his fear and pain while Thee stands at his side and takes what he can but knows that taking too much will mean he is taken away entirely and he cannot protect Tanthai if he isn't there.
